Jboy2000000 Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Why am I making a a thread about Fallout 4? Well, aside from all the rumors and speculations and 'leaks' and 'teases' that have been going on for two years now, some pretty big news has been happening on the Fallout front. Nothing Id usually be to worried about, I don't like to get my hopes anymore after the whole Survivor 2299 thing. Buuut, video changed my mind, this video changed my hopes, that video makes me believe Fallout 4 IS coming. It gives me hope that the upcoming E3 conference will hold Fallout 4 news for the world. Frances Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 I thought this was a given, knowing how much Bethesda loves sequels (and seeing as Fallout and TES are their two main franchises.) What perplexes me is that there was a 3-year delay between the release of Morrowind and Oblivion, 2-year delay between the release of Oblivion and Fallout 3, and 3-year delay between the release of Fallout 3 and Skyrim. It's been three years and a half since Skyrim's release, and aside from the customary expansion packs, we haven't really heard anything from BGS themselves. It might partially be due to the release of TES online, but a quick search reveals that even that was developed by Zenimax, not Bethesda themselves. I've been a huge fangirl of Morrowind ever since its release, and while I haven't really been happy with Bethesda games as of late, they've tried to address a lot of criticism in Skyrim, which leaves me with some decent hopes for their next release. Rusty Shackleford Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Meh. While I'm a fan of Fallout, I doubt this is actually legit. There's something that exists called Adobe Photoshop. It's not hard to doctor an image and then try and pass it off as real if you're thoroughly proficient in it. Also, Destructoid is hardly a good source of information. Just because they say that lawyer asked them to take it down due to a broken NDA, doesn't actually mean they're telling the truth about it. I'll believe it when there's something more substantial than a screenshot of a linkedin account and the word of an unreputable news outlet claiming it to be true. Quote
mrimatool Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 I DO believe this, but I'm not going to be excited until E3, and if it's not announced and shown then I'll be fisting everyone on the server. But yes I'm very excited for this game, and I haven't clicked on the link but I think I know what video you're talking about. Quote
Hackie Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 I'll be fisting everyone on the server. Â Kinky. But, in my opinion I think they aren't going to try announcing Fallout Four at E3, more so other games. Right now I'm expecting a Dishonored sequel, huge hype train for Battlecry or, a new IP. Quote

I would think that likely if this wasn't the first time they've made a true appearance at E3, I don't think they'd waste the money just to announce Dishonoured 2, a game that while excellent was more cult followed and was TOO short IMO. Oh and I think they'd be making a mistake not to be announcing it, they're not blind, one of the most asked questions to them is if they have any news on Fallout 4, they know how much money they could make. I don't know much about publishers vs developers specific to videogames, but I believe what we want to be looking for as far as the next Fallout is a developer. Dishonored wasn't "made" by Bethesda, but ZeniMax (Bethesda's parent company) bought the studio that made it then published it under Bethesda's name. (Like, I'm explaining this terribly, but Bethesda has two separate entities, one that develops games (that made TESIII-V and Fallout 3) and one that just publishes games - the later published Dishonored but Bethesda itself did not make the game.) The general idea (I think) is that Fallout 4 is being made by BGS (the developers). It would make sense for it to be in the works (though idk wtf BGS has been doing for the past three years, Skyrim DLC aside), but there's nothing technically stopping Bethesda (the publishers) from announcing a whole bunch of games at once. Dishonored 2 being in the works doesn't mean that Fallout 4 isn't being worked on (though Fallout 4 being worked on would likely mean the next TES game is farther away since these two are being made by the same people.) I'd like to be hopeful and say that the abnormally long silence among BGS (in comparison to their previous release schedule) means that they're likely bringing some big changes to the next game they'll release (instead of every BGS game + FNV being a rehash of the previous one with a slightly updated engine), but it's very possible the next fallout will just be "Oh, we made Skyrim with guns, and slightly better." And then people will buy it anyway because it's still decent entertainment and everybody gave up on wishing for a better RPG at this point. Quote
mrimatool Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 I know there's Bethesda Softworks and Bethesda Game Studios Frances xD what I'm saying is BS would have pushed Fallout 4 on a Developer and it certainly doesn't have to be made by BGS. Considering the last and brilliant fallout New Vegas was made by Obsidian, the guys who did Kotor2 who made great improvements to the Fallout series. TL;DR Bethesda Softworks wants to make money, they'd make someone tap thIs resources, and it doesn't have to be BGS Quote
Frances Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Most of the information seems to be leading towards BGS developing the game, though. Quote

Who plays Bethesda games for the graphics? Quote
Frances Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 What are you, a filthy casual? Who plays Bethesda games for the graphics? Well, there's not much else left past a certain point. It's certainly not for the combat, or the story, or the complex gameplay... Quote
witchbells Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 At least they've finally fucking realized what color is. Quote
Hackie Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 bursts out laughing Hoo, hee hee, ha ha ha! Play- hee hoo hoo! Playing a Bethesda game for the story, that's a good joke. Quote
tuiee Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 I play Bethesda games because they are fucking infinite. Also because I like bugs. Quote
Carver Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Hey look, same engine as the last two Fallouts. Atleast that means it hopefully won't feature Skyrim levels of dumbing down. Also, Vault 111. Why? That looks fucking horrible on the jumpsuits, and it's hardly a difference from 101, your last 'Player Character Origin Vault'. If your PC is from a vault, they don't need some fancy ass 'catchy' vault number, Bethesda. Quote
Jboy2000000 Posted June 6, 2015 Author Posted June 6, 2015 Actually, the vault number does have some significance. In Fallout lore, Vault 112 is the last vault to be finished, and the most technologically advanced, so being Vault 111 means that its one of the 'newer' vaults, and more advanced than Vault 13 or Vault 101. That probably explains why Vault 111 has the big vertical elevator and the other vaults didn't, and it could be a big part of Fallout 4's story. Quote
Frances Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Hey look, same engine as the last two Fallouts. Atleast that means it hopefully won't feature Skyrim levels of dumbing down. Skyrim uses an upgraded version of the Fallout/Oblivion engine. It is the same engine. Not much of an indication of gameplay, though (besides the fact that the combat is probably gonna be sucky). Quote
Carver Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 upgraded Well, explains why you can glitch through walls with plates/bowls gmod style. Quote
Rusty Shackleford Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Am I the only person that actually likes the combat mechanics of the engine? Mainly because I always sneak attack with sniper rifles from afar, but it's pretty solid the way I play it. Also, what I liked best about Fallout was wandering the wastes, coming across the countless little scenes with skeletons and bloodstains and objects placed in a certain way, and then trying to figure out what happened. Well, the Fallout3/FNV shooting felt way too much like you were shooting RPG guns that were shoddily ported to some sort of FPS game. The cursor being a single pointer with no cone of fire (when the weapons were terribly inaccurate) was one of the worst things about both games, and practically none of the weapons felt fun to shoot. A lot of the automatic weapons felt like pea shooters for balance reasons, pistols had an unrealistically long firedelay and would sometimes keep shooting after you stopped clicking (again for balance, I guess?), and some weapons such as early-game shotguns felt completely useless because they were so easy to miss with (due to shitty shooting mechanics and airy movement from both the player and enemies). The auto-shotgun from F3, revolvers from FNV, and most bolt-action rifles from both games were actually fun to use, but the rest of the weapons felt like the shooter equivalent of Oblivion/Skyrim foam swords. And yes, completely random happenings were the coolest thing about Fallout. I felt like Skyrim was way too serious in comparison, and its dungeons/locations had a lot more copy and paste. Basically everything is either a bandit fort or a draugr crypt. Quote
