Make socks/stockings be accessories to shoes just like how ties and webbings are accessories to jumpsuits. It'll be... a bit strange to put on socks after shoes, but at least it may be a bit more simple to implement whilst having the desired effect.

I don't want to see something like "Sock Escapade" complaint rising out and once again, leaving a bad taste for others and another "SpaceDrama Newsletter" for people to take a laugh on. Let's be honest here, the first they go out, there's instantly going to be entire station full of rainbow socks and thigh high's with skirts.

We don't really need immersion. Just socks. Also, TK, since I saw your post interrupt mine. A jester is taken to trial in front of their community's councilmen. Several wisemen and women show up to either condemn the jester for murder of a woman. The weapon in particular was one of the councilman's swords. He was caught in the act, sadly for him, and ratted out promptly. As the jester was brought before the lords and ladies of the court, and read the jester their rights and what they have done and their possible charges, they give the jester the right to speak up for themselves. The jester retorts, "Well, I wouldn't have killed her if I didn't have access to that sword lying about." The present jury begins to mumblefuck about themselves, considering what the jester had said was, in part, true. Does it justify what the fool did, however? Whose fault is it really? The sword or the swordsman?

Taking it for a story with what I said about "Sock Escapade", the community will suffer as the player at fault has done something really, really fucking silly, ruining it's reputation.

Like, i hope this ins't a huge coding issue, and can be added simple. Sprite wise? If need be, i can even work on them since i am currently on stand by on orders.

They are fucking socks, for gods sake. People wear them so they don't get blisters. We can't just assume everyone on the server will use socks, of all the things on the server, to instigate erp or uncomfortable situations.

Socks will ruin aurora's reputation! You heard it hear first, folks. But, seriously, what's the big deal about wearing cute socks? Wanting your character to have a cute outfit isn't an EPR thing, it's just wanting your character to have a cute outfit. And who cares if we have a week of everyone wearing the most absurd socks possible? That happens any time a new feature is added... wheelchairs were followed by a swarm of new characters with no legs, but then the novelty wore off and people moved on. Now, I'd rate socks as a pretty low priority in terms of new features (mostly because I'd never get to wear any), but they would still be nice to have... and I do not live in fear of the sockpocalypse.

I just want to ask, why are socks so important? You won't even see them 80% of the time, because characters are not always naked and are not wearing dresses all the time. As I already said, is it worth to code it in?

The thing is that those who are for the idea of adding socks ARE trying to stay away from that concept. By avoiding this conversation because of that kind of conversation, you have given those who are against the idea ammo. All they have to do is keep that kind of conversation going for this and any similar ideas to be shut down and possibly locked/binned. I don't see the problem with the idea, ERP is against our rules and that's that. If people cross lines because socks were added we stamp out the issue by removing toxic players, as has been an established method.

I want socks so that the moment I take off my extremely bloodied and gory 2d shoes to wash them, I don't have to look like I'm too poor to afford socks. Walking barefoot on steel is the least comfortable thing ever. I prefer socks that go up to my ankles, personally, but it's anyone else's discretion or perogative if they wanna wear stockings or whatever, I can't be bothered to care. Anyway. If a spriter can go ahead and do some tweaking so that we don't have ridiculous rainbow socks and instead have optional department oriented/color coded SpaceHanes-brand socks, that'd be great. I can look into character setup overlays and see if it works.

That set of sprites is part of the uproar due to the rainbow sets.

One thing I've learned here is that you can't stop people from being idiots if they want to be idiots. There's a million ways to create bad characters, and bad characters will be created no matter what, even if you reduce Aurora to a text-based, ASCII interface. You can restrict or get rid of things that are used for nothing but being bad (maybe those rainbow stockings), but there's no point in trying to limit legitimate game implements when shitters can just jump onto the next thing to, well, be a shit with.
