Owen Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I never really played goon too much but I know it is in the TG code base. But it makes sense to me. Why do you think it is annoying? Greyshirt McTide says, "SECURITY ARE ATTACKING ME AT- HURGH" Greshirt Mctide says, 'SECURITY HARMBATON- ACK" Meh, I guess so, just a thought.
Zundy Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I never really played goon too much but I know it is in the TG code base. Don't get it. Why is this more annoying then: Greyshirt McTide exclaims, "SECURITY ARE ATTACKING ME AT BAR!" Greshirt Mctide exclaims, "SECURITY HARMBATONING ME AT BAR YOU FUCKS!" Greyshirt McTide stutters, "S-S-S-H-H-I-I-T-C-C-U-R-R-I-I-T-T-Y-Y" Greshirt Mctide exclaims, "FUCKING GET REKT I DIDOONUFFIN!1" Robust SecMuffin says, "Finally got his fucking head set off" Kawai-cat McSec exclaims, "Oh my fucking god you guys, like, check your privilege that guy was only borrowing that shotgun!"
Owen Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 -snip- I think that it would work just fine. I mean, Greytide will be Greytide no matter what. If an actual player was doing it I don't think it wouldn't be nearly as annoying.
Lady_of_Ravens Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Removing the ability to talk into a headset while weakened or cuffed makes total sense... knocked down, however, not so much. Losing a leg is already crippling to the point where you can't crawl or hold items, no reason to make it make you radio silent as well. I also wouldn't remove the ability for someone with no hands to use their radio... it's not unrealistic to press a "transmit" button with something other than a finger tip if you really need to.
Skull132 Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Well, I think when "knocked down" was mentioned, it was meant as the same thing as weakened.
Carver Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Use a radio jammer if you're not robust enough to snag the headset before they can talk. You can even create the improvised version if you don't have an antag uplink. Now that I think of it this suggestion does kind of negate the radio jammer a fair bit, and if you added that annoying 'cut-off when attacked' shit the radio jammer becomes something of a novelty.
TishinaStalker Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Sounds like you either get partial or full silence.
Carver Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 It makes a stunprod more valuable than a radio jammer unless you plan on taking out a crowd.
Guest Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Radio jammers can allow an antagonist to get away with shooting up an entire room. The suggestion I made is to single out individuals being taken advantage of by an antag, whilst alone.
Skull132 Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Radio jammers have a range of utilities, beyond silencing a single user: - They mute an entire area, as opposed to the one person you're ganking attacking. - They also take care of any PDA messages being sent. - They can be used to create radio deadzones without you being present and the crew even realizing (if you hide them and leave). - They can be used to jam the central PDA messaging server by the AI core, without actually touching the server itself. I think they still remain useful, no?
