An apology to everybody

I still think we should at least give him a trial.

He's not even close to the worst we have here, and I saw him on other servers I adminned on not long after his second ban.

Why not give him a chance?

The thing is, he already had his trial. He was given his chance. All of that was detailed and talked over in his unban request.

But that was a long, long time ago.

I'm just a huge fan of dropping the past and shooting the breeze with old enemies, and I've got a lot of faith in Plahunter being able to improve.

Especially with the distance he's willing to go to to prove he means business.

I understand what you mean hive, even I myself don't know whether or not he should have been unbanned, I was pretty split, basically because of what you're saying, and what Skull and Sierra are saying. Theres only so many chances you can give someone before people realize you can be walked all over. Remember Techno? He accrued over 22 notes in his playtime, all for similar things, and apparently there was more than a few notes in there that said "ban on next offense" that went ignored because the staff gave too much leniency. Im not saying Pla is like Techno, they're very different, but there has to be a point where the stick needs to hit if we don't want more like that happening. Unfortunately, pla is on the shite end of the stick.

This took balls. It's a good thing you did it, as it kinda shows you being sincere. But to be frank, you are trying too hard. Aurora isn't worth this much effort to get back into it. It's... really not. I suggest you focus on something else, instead.

punishments for the sake of punishment is kind of pointless. banning people is for a simple thing to remove problem players. regardless of how many chances the players had before if the player is no longer actually a problem then why not bring him back? the issue is determining if the player is still actually going to be a problem or not. in this case, I've never seen a player so dedicated to make a YouTube video to apologize. I would truly be supersized if he is still a problem player. since he's most likely not, why not bring him back? the amount of trials he's had is irreverent, the relevant question is if he will contribute good RP to this server now.

Anyone can say that they're sorry. Anyone can promise you the stars and the Moon. Anyone can beg for another chance. But all of that is completely and utterly irrelevant if you are unable to act in a mature fashion after being given your nth chance.

And quite frankly, maturity is the issue here. You were banned because you were acting like a child towards other players. You were rebanned because you were still acting like a child towards other players.

And interestingly enough. Back in September, when I had my runin with you, you were again acting like a child over an issue. Allow me to remind you: you threatened to sue some SS13 folks because they booted you off their team, and were potentially keeping your contributions to the project. Seriously, you hadn't changed one bit back in September. And that's, what? 3.5 months ago?

I would also like to present your current actions as proof of the matter that you have not changed. A mature individual understands when their time is up, and does not beg as a child would. Though, this is a bit of a catch-22, ain't it?

And TF, it's an argument of gain over loss. Due to Pla's history here, the fact that he pretty much spent a month or two attacking our players before getting his first ban, unbanning him now carries the risk of subjecting said players, who are still active, to the same conduct. (This fear is actually a legitimate one, as after being unbanned he continued to go after the same people as before.) Even if we swiftly ban him again, I do think that there's a reasonable limit on how many times we can ask someone to go through with that in a game.

Five months, actually Skull.

I never had much of an issue with Plahunter, and he got rebanned for calling a player in OOC a cunt, something that like, staff have called me before and such, I'm not really in on why he was banned and rebanned completely, but I remember the cunt comment contributed to it.

This is the ban reason on the tin. The fact is that he went right back into his old MO after being unbanned. This included metagrudging against other characters, and going to ridiculous lengths (and badRP) to get back at them.

I do understand that I went to the old MO, but this is something that I put out as an apology. I've been ripped on reddit for this, can't you atleast give me a chance so all this effort doesn't go to waste and I am just stuck with peoples insults on /R/ss13? Just one parole period, no more metagrudges, nothing. I swear on it.

Kid, That was your choice to upload the vid. Not ours. You would have had to known that people would shit on it.

As for this, I was new when he got banned from the server, He seems to be a nice guy and all, but what he did was pretty bad. 2 Bans? On Goon you are lucky you even got a Temp. Ban.

On this one, i think the bads overweigh the goods.

It was bad, but the good can outweigh the bad eventually if I prove myself, I'm just asking for this last chance. Whats the worst that could happen, I get angry, get banned, there's 5 minutes of people getting upset and then I never come back.

And then when you come back in 6 months with the same spiel? This would be the third time you were banned, the second time you were banned and it said it was permanent without appeal.

Perhaps; Because this is such a high profile thing, we as an entire community should hold a vote (anon poll) on whether he be unbanned or not, if Skull is interested in surrendering his powers for the sake of democracy just this once.

EDIT: Just saw that his ban appeal was denied, but I still think that this should be given to the community as a whole to decide on, as we ARE the ones that were affected by his presence. He took the time and had the balls to make this apology, yeah we didn't ask for it, but he damn well gave us it, and he's not that bad of a player once you look past his quirks.

No.

This is not an issue for general community decision. The only people with actual power over this decision are the people affected by Plahunter's inability to control himself. Only their opinion matters on this front. (Because guess what. Chances are Plahunter's not going to give a shit about you; but as history has shown, he is very capable of picking up old grudges, and to do so extremely quickly.) And as far as I'm concerned, none of them have commented with positive reception (they probably have read both the unban appeal and this thread), and we even had a few negative messages from people involved:

Democracy is not applicable in this affair. And as it stands, I'm not seeing a reason to alter my decision.

I for one, on principle rather than on knowledge of the situation, believe we should stand behind king-fuhrer skull in his never ending quest to ban all heathens.

Not really, supreme executive power is derived from the masses, as a peasant on Month Python put it.

I've been in a situation similar to this with many people in my life, and all though I don't really know plahunter, I don't think I'd unban him given the circumstances and the external-aurora community shit that's been flung, considering the dosages of mercy which have been administered in the past.

EDIT: Also what Skull said about the specific people who were affected and are stable members of the community.

Skull has surrendered his powers for democracy in the past. He doesn't rule with an iron fist.

This instance is easily settled. Plahunter has been given several chances, and has made no effort to change. If he comes back, fucks up again, he'll be banned and back to libeling us on Reddit again. Just the fact in some of the recent posts on reddit about them holding grudges, shows that he believes the moderation staff were wrong in what they did.

But afterwards I said that they had a right to hold the grudge and I was wrong.
