Mofo1995
I think that the recent trend of influencing round type votes may perhaps be getting a bit out of hand. It started off relatively simple enough, but it seems now that the start of every round is subject to being filled with "X type please!" I don't claim to be innocent of it myself, but I think that this may be causing a certain amount of salt for players who don't like the outcome. Specifically, I'm referring to the outpouring of dissatisfaction every time extended is voted in. So, I thought I'd start up a discussion here, do people think there's a persistent and present problem with the current state of round-type voting? Or is everyone all right [with the current state of affairs]? Edit: Added in bracketed area for clarification. Quote Link to comment
SkyeAuroline
I think it's perfectly fine as things stand now. Most people hate extended from what I've seen; that dissatisfaction is to be expected. Quote Link to comment
witchbells
Honestly, I think "don't influence the vote" is one of the most arbitrary rules enforced on this server, and I remember when it was implemented. It was no better then than it is now. The vast majority of us are capable of making our own decisions regardless of who "influences" us or not. People are allowed to like different things, and I think we should be allowed to discuss the round vote like a civil community. What I do specifically have a problem is the disproportionate amount of complaining that fills the chat after certain round types are voted in. It is a video game, playing nuclear, or extended, or cult for a change is not going to hurt anyone. Quote Link to comment
Guest Menown
Influence or not, I'm still going to vote for rounds people don't want to play, then never play them so I can listen to people complain in OOC. Quote Link to comment

I'm pretty sure the (poorly enforced) restriction on vote influencing isn't to avoid butthurt or vote influencing, but rather to silence the screaming madness of everyone trying to convince everyone to vote for what they want. Certainly that's the point of having OOC automatically turn off during the vote. Quote Link to comment
Guest
I think that is correct. It's been put in place to stop the arguments and screaming madness, but the OP's post is about vote influencing itself. I agree that keeping the mute has other merit. Quote Link to comment
Guest Marlon Phoenix
People are permitted to complain and be mean-spirited in their complaining and whining until it actually breaks server rules. Making a rule out of a fear of my vote for a round somehow being easily influenced by someone going "VOTE SECRET PLS!!!!!" before the vote even begins is a pretty low opinion of my intelligence and sense of independence. Conservatron
personally i always vote ninja to protest people bitching about round types because nobody enjoys ninja rounds Quote Link to comment
Guest
i for one enjoy ninja rounds because it's a blatantly overpowered and stupidly overloaded antagonist, it doesn't pretend to be balanced at all Anyway, we should really not bother enforcing this policy anymore, considering most people who bitch about the round type (prior to the vote or after) more than likely get fired up by even pettier things, and thus will get into trouble some other fantastic way. Conservatron
also true the rule as a whole is probably the dumbest thing server administration has ever implemented. Like, there is no logical reason to bar 'influencing' round type. Keep the ooc mute during voting and go from there Quote Link to comment
Skull132
If I recall, the rule was pretty much put in place to stop the constant spam of, "VOTE NUKE! VOTE NUKE GUYS!" that we had going on at some point. The spam stopped, so the rule is no longer actively enforced until the spam shows up again. I don't really think we should mind the occasional, "plzvotenuke4cookies" deal on OOC: it's most usually lighthearted fun, and tbh, I think people will vote whatever the fuck they want regardless of whether or not someone's shouting that. If it turns into spamming, theeen we can step in and hand out a few OOC mutes and be done with it. Quote Link to comment
Lady_of_Ravens
Yeah, vote influencing wasn't the problem, it was the commotion people make while doing it. Quote Link to comment
