Butterrobber202
So, dug around in the almighty lore, and discovered something very interesting. Skrells are recommended to talk like Mordan Solus from Mass Effect 2/3 WHY ARNT YOU DOING THIS. I have yet to see a Skrell talk like that and I'm disappointed. Quotes from Mordan Prof. Mordin Solus: Actually, wanted to talk. Medical matters. Aware that mission is dangerous, different species react differently to stress. Aware you come by a great deal. Have had other species become attracted to me before. Awkward. Not interested. Commander Shepard: You've had members of another species make a pass at you? Prof. Mordin Solus: Constantly. Very awkward. Skin tone apparently attractive by turian standards. Subset of krogan sexual deviants enjoy salarian flexibility. More cartilage in skeletal structure. Asari offers intriguing, actually. Wonder why. Transspecies pheremones unlikely to work. Must be neurochemical. Commander Shepard: Wait a minute Mordin, you're just yanking me around, aren't you? Prof. Mordin Solus: Shocking suggestion! Doctor-patient confidentiality a sacred trust. Would never dream of mockery. Enjoy yourself while possible Shepard. Will be here studying cell reproduction. Much simpler. Less alcohol and mood music required. I have ruled out the possibility of an artificially intelligent virus, unless it's *very* intelligent... and toying with me. Mordin Solus: Had to be me. Someone else might have gotten it wrong Prof. Mordin Solus: Hard to see big picture behind pile of corpses Mordin Solus: [Talking to himself] Maybe with an inhibitor? No-no-no no, entire catalyzing process would fail. Severe neurological damage. Never mind. Eve: What are you talking about? Mordin Solus: Method to extract functional cure without killing you. Many variables. Your immune system compromised. Considering options. Eve: And you have to do that out loud? Mordin Solus: Yes. Auditory learner. Need to hear self think, simulate conversation to promote new ideas, maximize productivity. Eve: But you're talking about me dying. Mordin Solus: Oh. Apologies. Medical details causing emotional distress. Hadn't considered effect on patient. Eve: No, it just means I can't sleep. Mordin Solus: Doing my best to keep you alive. Will avoid... sensitive subjects. [to himself] Mordin Solus: No, that would... Hmm. Perhaps stimulate cell regeneration with... mmm... mm-hmm. Could... tsk, tsk, tsk... Ah, but... Should test... ffffffff-pa-pa-pa-pa... Eve: That's worse. Commander Shepard - Male: Everytime we've talked about this before, you defended the genophage! Hell, I had to talk you into saving Maelon's data! How could you change your mind now? Mordin Solus: I MADE A MISTAKE! [calms down, realizes what he just confessed] Mordin Solus: ...I made a mistake Mordin Solus: Thresher maw getting closer! Urdnot Wrex: Tell me something I don't know! Mordin Solus: Metal in truck an excellent iron supplement for maw's diet! Commander Shepard: Have you got a minute to talk? Prof. Mordin Solus: Actually, wanted to talk. Medical Matters. Aware that mission is dangerous. Different species react differently to stress. Aware that you and Jack are sexually active. Or planning to be. Suggest caution. Emotionally unstable biotics dangerous during intercourse. Commander Shepard: I'm aware that Jack is dangerous, but I want to see where this goes. Prof. Mordin Solus: Of course. Hormones. Will be here to set broken bones later. I'm not saying act like him ( but brownie points if you do) but can we fit this in? The idea of Skrell talking about like normal humans is... Uncomfortable ( because I'm a lore stickler ) Reason that Skrell shouldn't talk like normal Humans "The Skrell take on Basic (the standard station language) is characterized by short, concise sentences, and an elimination of repetitive or non-essential words. You can refer to Mass Effect's Mordin Solus [1] as an example of this" taken from Aurora Wiki, Lore Section, Skrell ( Excuse the eyesore dialogue, I'm doing this from my iPad) Quote Link to comment
Guest
It's actually very difficult to talk like this I find, so I've just resorted to using precise language, using strong vocabulary. Quote Link to comment
Dreviore
I'll keep this in mind if Skrell ever interest me. As it stands I like playing as human. And my next character is likely to be a bound Vaurca, then an IPC Quote Link to comment
Owen
I do this with all but one of my Skrell. But yeah, it is quite difficult to do and many people are always confused as the amount of people who speak like it is so small. Quote Link to comment

Mofo1995
It's surprisingly difficult to speak like that. I tried once and instead I sounded like Trump with the simple structures of my sentences. Quote Link to comment
Skull132
Relatively hard to speak like this. Especially for native speakers. What's more interesting, the style of speech requires grammatical flaws to sound proper. First sentence: flawed, not a complete sentence, sounds fitting. Second sentence: not flawed, does not sound fitting. At least, not to me. Fits style, however. Pattern of speech also requires knowledge of subject matter. Very hard to summarize a subject without a full understanding. Also very heavy and specific on pauses. Though, this is not specifically required. I enjoy it. Quote Link to comment
SierraKomodo
It might help to think of it more as writing quick notes you'd take in high school than writing actual grammatically correct sentences. I.e.: - Mar'laq Wuequ-Typ. Roboticist, specialist, intelligences. - Break-in, vault. Janitor. Not armed. As opposed to I'm Mar'laq Quesqu-Typ, a roboticist that specializes in intelligences. The janitor's breaking into the vault. Quote Link to comment

The janitor's breaking into the vault. This, is actually really helpful advice. I might have to make a new char and experiment with this. Quote Link to comment
Guest
Elena speaks like that sometimes, when conveying orders to the entire department at once. It's information compression. Quote Link to comment
Jennalele
Morkai tends to speak like this more often than not, but will elaborate in some situations. Quote Link to comment
