vtipoman Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 It's stupid. If people want to RP eating, they should be allowed to without the game telling them they're not hungry. Furthermore, remove the "He/she looks quite chubby" message that appears in your description if you eat too much. You won't get fat from eating two additional pizza slices.
UnknownMurder Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 No response? Well okay then. -1 If my body tells me if I'm not hungry, I'm not hungry otherwise I puke and I have great dissatisfaction to seeing people making mess on floor.
Fire and Glory Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 Problem is, this'd enable eating entire pizza's non-stop, which isn't desirable either. The system we currently have isn't ideal but I feel that if we want to fix it into something better we'd need to basically tear apart hunger code and dedicate a lot of time to it, any 'easy' fixes like this just won't really work. While yes, the getting fat thing is stupid and is something that usually annoys me whenever I try to eat the chef's goods, I'd rather have that instead of people eating infinity food.
Zundy Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 I still think getting rid if the 'you are chubby' thing is good. Always hated that.
Fire and Glory Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 Despite what I said about easy fixes (I changed my mind about that roughly 2 minutes after I posted), I do believe removing the 'chubby' thing would be a very good compromise, people don't get fat within a day, even after they eat all they can in a meal, I don't remember just how much you can actually eat but I do know that I can eat a hamburger whenever I want in-game and not get interrupted by the food limit halfway in, so it's not that much of an issue. 1+ to removing chubbiness message, 1- to removing the limit on what you can eat.
Nanako Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 it'd be far easier, and more sensical to just reduce the nutrition levels of protein and nutriment The system we currently have isn't ideal but I feel that if we want to fix it into something better we'd need to basically tear apart hunger code and dedicate a lot of time to it, any 'easy' fixes like this just won't really work. the hunger code is not large or complex, tearing apart is very easy the thing is, everyone can't seem to agree on a direction about what should be done with it

Also remove chubby. Perhaps make it so you throw up if you eat too much. You should not become fat in one round regardless of what you eat IMO.

In any case, skull is generally opposed to making food more important because of vending machines, which is the reason i made this thread: http://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=6312 I'd say that's a prerequisite for any other changes to the food system
Guest Marlon Phoenix Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 Eating over the limit is often used as a gag. It is a cherished and prestigious position to know the secret of how to eat infinitely, and thus make the chef watch in abject horror and bewilderment as you devour every single scrap of food on the counter. I've had chefs fall over themselves trying to take the food off the counter when I approach, to save what scraps they can from my insatiable hunger. Otherwise I do not approve. I like the hunger mechanics as it is now. You eat, you get full, so you stop eating. There would be no real benefits from spending time coding this except a rise in more gags that'll quickly become unfunny once we consume everything edible on the station every single shift.

I definitely agree with keeping the limit, but i'd be in favour of nerfing the nutrient levels of food so you can eat more before getting full Also, if people wanted, i could code it so that instead of the 'You cannot force anymore down your throat' You can keep eating when overfull, but with a rapidly increasing chance of throwing up and spewing it all out again
Guest Marlon Phoenix Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 I still believe the limit as it is now is fine. Allowing people to eat endlessly or making them vomit when they eat too much will, again, just lead to the rare gag become a commonplace and annoying occurrence. Early in SS13 history we had poop mechanics and we pooped after we ate. And all we did was smear it all over the walls.
Carver Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 I still think getting rid if the 'you are chubby' thing is good. Always hated that. This. This is what I most want of this suggestion, if any part of it makes it to the coder's table. Problem is, this'd enable eating entire pizza's non-stop, which isn't desirable either. If someone can't eat an entire pizza in one sitting then they're a fucking pussy.
Fire and Glory Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 If someone can't eat an entire pizza in one sitting then they're a fucking pussy. Well yeah that's acceptable but 3 entire pizza's? Not so much.
