Dreamix Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Title. Also, making the doctors watching crew monitoring consoles confused, possibly annoying them, and eventually teaching them to not jump on every little injury like it's NUKE OHMYGOD BETTER RUN
Arrow768 Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Interesting idea, but where should it show up ? New Column or in one of the existing ones ?
Dreamix Posted July 14, 2016 Author Posted July 14, 2016 Interesting idea, but where should it show up ?New Column or in one of the existing ones ? Uh, what? If it shows up in a new column, it would be 100$ useless. Mobs, when shot with a taser have their overall health lowered (as shown when using the health analyzer), but their other stats are as usual. If it would be possible to spread the holodamage between suff/toxin/burn/brute values (or just suffocation, for ease of programming?), that would be nice. That way, when Urist-the-Assistant is shot with a taser, both the health analyzer, medHUD and even the crew monitoring console show Urist as injured, because Urist actually feels injured. Alternatively: MedHUD and crew monitoring console only "see" the suffocation+holodamage values, since they read the suit sensors (making the medHUD stop working if the person is not wearing a suit-sensor-equipped suit would be nice, too). The health analyzer, and the bulky medical scanner, would only see suffocation damage values, as they physicaly and actually scan the person for injuries. An example: Urist-the-criminal was just shot with a taser by security. He got (let's say) 60 holo/taser/pain damage. McDoctor sees Urist as red on his medHUD, and McNurse sees Urist having 10/16/14/20 -damage values. McDoctor after using a health analyzer on Urist sees 0/0/0/0. This would possibly teach medical players to actually examine and talk to the crew, rather than just mindlessly scanning them with handheld health analyzers, or sitting AFK near the consoles and declaring emergency on sight of 5 brute damage. Also, it's a nice little mechanic that adds some "depth" (?) to med-gameplay. Why hasn't anyone think of it before?
Skull132 Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 I'm not a fan. It would make kidnappings and whatever else very easy to catch up on. While I understand the point is to make the crew monitor harder to use, not only is this a bad way of going about it, it will also make it way easier to jump on antags as a result.

Fuck. I forgot about this. A delay and/or low refresh rate for the crew monitoring console?
Kaed Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Holoss is intended to gauge the amount of pain your body is in, not how damaged your body is. It affects only your perception of damage, you are still perfectly healthy. This really doesn't make sense as a concept, for your physical pain to begin showing up on the monitor as random actual damage. It doesn't read your mind, it gauges the health of your body.

Can you imagine how annoyed Medbay and Command would be if E.C.O.M. started announcing all of the holodamage?

Can you imagine how annoyed Medbay and Command would be if E.C.O.M. started announcing all of the holodamage? I'm afraid, sir/miss/person, you can't read. An example:Urist-the-criminal was just shot with a taser by security. He got (let's say) 60 holo/taser/pain damage. McDoctor sees Urist as red on his medHUD, and McNurse sees Urist having 10/16/14/20 -damage values. McDoctor after using a health analyzer on Urist sees 0/0/0/0. ECOM, the AI, reports Urist having 10/16/14/20 -damage values, reading the console. Anyway, unless you people want to leave it for discussion or to post better ideas, you can bin it.
