This means fish, underwater plants, algae, unfortunate divers, etc. Currently there are four major races in our game that have heavy aquacluture diet lore-wise in their history: Humans, skrell, and unathi. I believe Tajara also fish but they might just mostly run around gathering berries.

Doubling hydroponic trays to house fish would let us expand both raw food options and let us expand the kitchen to have more alien diets. The seed vendor would have a new category for fish eggs or water-based plants, so this would also expand the kitchen.

Botany would now be able to grow and harvest,

  • Moghean fish,

    Skrell kelp and algae,

    Earth fish.

I can give my hopes for Moghean fish and dishes they would be made into, Loow and Hive can speak for their races, and we can add what we generally want to see for humans, like trout. Every fish would be roasted to be "Roasted [fish]" and be as filling as a steak along with having fillets, so we would have:

Trik

"A Moghean fish bred to grow fast and fat."

D'ziz

"A small Moghean fish famed for its bizarrely sweet taste."

Teth

"A clam native to the Moghean Sea, ruthlessly exploited for the rare blue pearls it creates."

And some food would be,

  • Roasted Trik.

"Roasted Trik, the staple of the Unathi diet for centuries.
    • Microwave 1 raw Trik with 1 unit salt and 1 unit pepper.

  • Trik Fillet

"Fillets from a Trik. Bland but filling."
    • Cut up a Trik for raw fillets, which are microwave by itself.

My dream of serving lutefisk as the chef will come true.

Going for the poison route next time you're traitor, huh?

Nanako suggested in discord chat that fishing is turned into a mini-game.

The fish we have for common use should be as easy peasy to harvest as plants, because that is their reason to exist: to be easily harvested and eated. We could add a "fishing net" as a reskinned plant bag for this porpoise.

Effort should come with reward; what if we had a fishing mini-game for more exotic fish? They bring rewards such as chemical regents, or?

The classic fishing minigame is "click within a window of time on an audio cue". While that is possible (see keycard auth pads) it isn't particularly relevant if you aren't fishing with a line and a hook. Fish in a highly engineered space fish-farm will be plucked out of the water like french fries in a wire basket.

Completly forgot to reply to this, but yes, give Gardeners more to do, they don't have enough trays as it is.

And yes, I agree with jackboot, just make it as easy as harvesting plants. No need for a minigame every time I want to catch a fish, it would get annoying pretty quickly.

So, a minigame then? Because thats kind of what plants have

You have to feed them, water them, give them enough light, remove weeds and pests, and harvest them within a reasonable time after growing is complete. Thats how plants add gameplay

What gameplay will fish add? how will you rear and catch them

To find fish, you have to go find Nemo. Then you will be rewarded with random fish. Job done. Pack your bags.

I prefer we port paradise's fish system and add more fish types.

With glass panels you can make fish tanks of varying sizes, bowl for decorative fishes, small tank for hobbyists, large tank for pros and wall tank for industrial grade, the bigger the more fish it fits,

Then you take care of the tank cleaning it often and filling it with water, the fishes need food to survive and reproduce, small fish can live on the magically infinit can of fish food while bigger fish needs small fish you grow on your own in another tank.

Having it available from the start means less cross department work, so it shouldn't be available shift start.

If we go the route of importing paradise's fish tanks an such, plz give Captain's office a wall-tank

Having it available from the start means it'll actually be a feature that sees use, as otherwise you have to go through walls of paperwork to do anything interesting.

This, fully.

Paradises' fish system would be great, however it will never get use because there are great stacks of paperwork one must do to construct such things. I'd rather we have a single industrial sized one for botany, and it's up to them if they want to build more or not.
