SierraKomodo Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Basically the title. With how slowly IPCs 'lose power', it wouldn't provide much different to balance/mechanics but would let IPC's 'eat' on the job instead of finding an APC.

I know it's a little off topic, but there's a nice potential for traitor items here too. EMP wafer, Mindfray wafer(like space drugs for IPCs), etc. Anyway. Directly charging from powercells would be great.

More importantly though, no work is likely to be done on IPCs while their future is undecided. Bedshaped may be taking over their developement, or they might get scrapped
Guest Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 I think the basic idea in the whole APC thing was that they're no more than walking appliances and have to plug into an outlet to recharge in some way. Like a cellular phone. It is tongue-in-cheek and hilarious because of it. The suggestion is a bit arbitrary, too, to be fair. There is no shortage of APCs.

Actually, that'd be the only job that can use it. But I'd still wholly approve of it! It would also make sense for arpee off-station. In my headcanon, I think of IPCs having portable chargers - small devices they can slot their hands in and charge up slowly with.

Actually, i'd say thats undesireable. If the station has no power, then you die. Well, at least go to sleep for a while. Because you are a complex machine which requires a complex support network, this is the reason engineering exists. I argue similarly against making cyborgs less dependant on chargers, and i've personally implemented steps to do the opposite in the past.
