that make no sense at all, and replace it with a direct link to the cargo department budget.


the main cargo console would have two options when approving orders, personal and department funded. personal would have the order approved by cargo techs or the QM and then the customer would have to swipe his ID on the request console outside the cargo window.

the latter would need the QM or the HoP's access to approve.


this will make people more cautious when ordering items, giving them actual weight instead of just waiting for supply points and pigging out on orders when the miner hauls in a ton of phoron, the HoP could use the extra funds to give pay rises to the department (or just himself)


give department funds more use instead of the static 5k every round that waits for someone to steal it, heads of staff would have a special ATM in their office to make withdraws from their department account, and give a reason(or if this is too much work to add they can ask the HoP for a ID linked to their department account)


this can work with or without the economy system, and actually add more to the pressing need of money, and if people abuse it, it can be dealt with ICly with CCIA firing you and resetting the character slot.

i like shipments being tied to credits


make cargo more of a commissary and would remove the 'no we're not going to spend points on hats' because you're spending your own credits on them, not the cargo point total.

I like this idea, but want to ask something - How would we handle something like using the engineering department account to pay for an order? There's no ID tied to those.

The Captain/HoP can easily procure departmental debit cards.

also, the departments have an account number. could do it like unsecured accounts where you enter in the number and logs the individual doing the transaction, what it was for, and prints a receipt so the HOS, for example, can look up that Urist McBaldsec ordered an experimental weapons crate and a crate of party hats on sec budget so he can ask whats up

I was thinking it would go to the station account, where the HoP deals with giving departments raises depending on their performance or demand.

I really like this idea, I had ONE round as interim RD where the HoP gave me an ID linked to the research department. I say put an ID Credit Card within the lockers on round start so the HoP doesn't have to do it every round, because then the money could actually be used, instead of just sitting there.

We want this to be slightly abuseable ICly, so people can commit fraud. You could make it so when the crate is ordered, an option for the department they work for or personal can be chosen. (ie, doctor has medical, engineer has engineering, captain has station, everybody has their own account as an option too.) That would then give the QM the job of checking orders from station accounts are for the station, and give security another crime to deal with, which could lead to more roleplay.
