Snakebittenn Posted July 1, 2017 Posted July 1, 2017 Basically, on /tg/, there are these things called AI shells. You can insert this board into either an empty borg exoskeleton, or an exosuit, and the AI then can then drive that shell around. Damage to its core will shunt it back into its core, and of course it can't permanently reside in the shell. Basically, I'd like something like that for here.
NoahKirchner Posted July 1, 2017 Posted July 1, 2017 This'd be neat but an AI's inability to physically interact with the world is it's only limiting factor on AI-antag gamemodes.
Chada1 Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 The big problem with this concept, is that it would muddle the distinction between Cyborg and Artificial intelligence by a lot. That said, the 'AI Shell' could be a new type of Bot that is much more simple in toolset, and thus is not 'better' than Cyborgs and very limited in comparison to regular Cyborg modules. Think like the bare minimums. The Standard Module could work and as an example has afew things but not enough to do Anything efficiently. It could give the AI a means of moving around in their Core if not anything else and be very helpful. I'm... kinda in support, but only if it's not as powerful as a regular Cyborg. It would have to be a new type of bot. Otherwise it literally makes them obsolete... and that's not good design.
Arrow768 Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 It is a very interesting idea for the AI to have a physical form that can move around. But a Malf AI that can move its core around on its own is a huge balance change.
JKJudgeX Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 There's already a great deal of synthetic presence onboard. I don't think we need to incentivize much more by way of synthetic hijinks or empowering the already pretty much game-breaking AI.
Alberyk Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 Could be a malf power, in fact. Like the ling horror form, something higher tier that allow the AI to become mobile in trade of using its regular AI powers. In fact, I will work on this.
Azande Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 Goon does it by having bots that only have a crowbar I think that the AI can pilot to interact with things in person. 'No special tools
