Fortport Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 It would be really cool to wear a leather jacket or some other cosmetic, non-protective article of clothing over something like a security vest. Detectives could benefit from this. You could balance this function by removing the ability to have extra pockets, and just have the vest's pockets. Combine the vest and the jacket, you know?
Butterrobber202 Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 wearing my trench coat over my bulletproof vest would be lit af, but here's what likely needs to happen. Let's call this the 'Overcoat' slot, any item in the Overcoat slot is placed on top of the character's currently equipped gear, excluding EVA Gear, or sealed gear in general. (This could be done by having the EVA Suit's Icon appear twice, once in the exosuit slot and greyed out in the Overcoat slot) Any Item in the Overcoat slot has its armor or protection values Negated. So wearing your jacket in the overcoat slot without anything in your exosuit slot would be pretty worthless.
MoondancerPony Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Adding armour to a jacket like you add webbing to jumpsuits could also work, perhaps?

I would also like to point out that as far as I am aware, adding a new equipment slot is nearly impossible, because the number we have right now is hard-coded in. I've seen servers that have both a neck and face slot, along with a separate slot for ID and PDA, but from what I have been told, this was largely accomplished via 'really hacky code exploits'. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong and you know otherwise.

Slots can be added in the same manner that the current slots are implemented, it just would be very unpleasant and there's not likely to be a coder willing to go through the trouble of doing it correctly.
Alberyk Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Or just turn certain jackets into accessories like the waistcoat is.
Guest Complete Garbage Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Or just turn certain jackets into accessories like the waistcoat is. This please. Maybe even have it replace webbing, and give certain jackets more slots to compensate.
Butterrobber202 Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Or just turn certain jackets into accessories like the waistcoat is. But if you attach it to your Jumpsuit, armor vests will overlay our glorious jackets
MO_oNyMan Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 The easiest solutiob would be turning armor into accessories. Wearing overcoats over armor makes sense
