Fortport Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 Simple suggestion. Activate a pen to pop the tip out, with a satisfying click-click. You'll be unable to write until you do so, and this can prevent you from accidentally writing in hindsight(not that that's really a common issue).
Bauser Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 Or even better: add the click but don't bother making pens actually require activation to use. It can be reasonably assumed that when you use a pen on a piece of paper, you can write something and your character would know how.

Asheram Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 +1 I like either suggestions. It'd make a lovely addition to the paperwork for the station, and something to fidget with if you're bored.
UnknownMurder Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 If this gets accepted, this is how we all are we going to behave OOCly. I can live with this. +1

Coalf Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 I shall support this, but only if screwdrivering a pen instead makes you stab yourself in the thumb as the devious contraption switches ends of the pen, causing 100 halloss instantly and 1 brute to your hand.
Kaed Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 I shall support this, but only if emagging a pen instead makes you stab yourself in the thumb as the devious contraption switches ends of the pen, causing 100 halloss instantly and 1 brute to your hand. Pens aren't electric, this cannot be canon! Let me write you a five page essay about why this is a bad idea. Just give me a few minutes to write it up and edit it into this post. Just keep checking, it'll show up eventually. Until then, I tenuously support this idea, since it seems fairly harmless, but I'm concerned about noise spamming, because it already happens a lot.

This isn't for spamming, in hindsight. It's just to make paperwork more satisfying, right? Imagine clicking your pen before writing some paperwork. Then again when you're done. There could even be some flavor text telling whoever is watching, so they could know you've begun writing or not.
Guest Marlon Phoenix Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 This has some serious ramifications for game balance. Clicking a pen will let an antag in maintenance outside my office know that i'm inside so they can gank me faster. This should be tested three times a week for a month before being put up to community vote and implemented after a 2/3 majority and another week of bug testing. Otherwise +1.
