Iron Chaos's Synthetic Lore Deputy Application
Azande replied to Iron Chaos's topic in Developer Applications Archives
@Senpai Jackboot @kyres1 is this guy still accepted or,,,? You guys haven't cleared the applications to the archive yet or labelled them and this guy was last active on the 29th of April. -
People have been suggesting we change some Head of Staff titles for ages, as well as adding alt-titles. It is almost universally shot down. I've given up on trying to get more interesting and accurate titles, and I personally like CMO because it has a nice short form. -1.

Americana actually includes all three of the Americas, the United Americas did not originally but would now I assume. I'm only suggesting the name be changed, no reverting back to the old geography.

[1 dismissal] Lets get actual NT Contracts Written down.
Azande replied to Butterrobber202's topic in Rejected Policy
I mean - multiple people over the last five years have asked for some sort of information on the contract to be made clear, I don't give zero fucks about it personally, I'm just spitting out what CAN be given to them because people aren't going to stop asking for it. -
Americana is a dumb word. It looks like Jackboot went America-Canada and made that the name of North-South-Central America. Worse so is that Americana is already a word, describing tacky American shite. Change it back to United Americas or use an alternative and BETTER name.

We had this before a long time ago. It vanished for some reason - I think after we re-based years ago (alongside our cool Biology department ;-;). Dunno why you had to make a suggestion thread over something so small, +1 -
[Accepted] Soultheif96's Command Application Again
Azande replied to Soultheif96's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Older Skrell are allowed to have experience in multiple fields as well! I thought it was the same for synths but I guess not. However, I don't think this is a reason to -1 Soul's app! I think this is an example of a common mistake even veterans make. Das my point here. -

This doesn't make sense to me, but since you're the Lore Dev your word is law I suppose. The Research Director alone is preferred to have multiple PHds according to the wiki, and that is for RDs of all species, even humans. There is no reason an IPC CMO could not have the programming required to handle the various sub-departments in medical, considering we have many human CMOs that handle almost all of them without being torn asunder by the Admins or Lore. -

That is specifically how it works. As per Station Directive 3, the CMO has the full right to ask me to handle an internal promotion of someone to a senior rank in their department. I saw no issues with this because it's something both Admins and Head Whitelistees have encouraged - we want people to get experience being a head or in a head-like position so they can be a better Head of Staff when they get their whitelist. -

The CMO arrived, Sterben was demoted from Interim CMO to Deputy CMO, at the request of the new Chief Medical Officer. I was in the process of demoting Sterben back to Surgeon when the CMO asked me to keep him on as a medical officer for the purpose of professional development. And he's not a 'trainee', he's a surgeon, a highly qualified MD only looking to get leadership experience. Don't shit on people trying to get IC experience in order to be a better head of staff. -

Regarding Departmental Ranking - Station Directive 3 To clarify the initial status for some roles, and their position in the department Chain of Command. Unless stated otherwise, all Departmental Staff are equal in rank, with differing responsibilities and assignments. The only exception being the Quartermaster, who can act as an authority over the Cargo Technicians and asteroid mining staff, however, this does not necessarily make him the preferred choice for promotion up the chain, nor does his authority extend anywhere beyond that. Below them are Departmental Assistants/Interns/Apprentices, and standard Assistants. It is within the capacity of the Departmental Head of Staff to promote and designate senior leaders as he sees fit, within their own department. https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Station_Directives#Regarding_Departmental_Ranking_-_Station_Directive_3 -

Sterben is a synthetic, they are not bound under the same powergaming rule as humans and other species (aside from Skrell). They simply can't cross-department specialize. It's highly possible that an advanced robot would be made that is knowledgeable and capable enough to handle every aspect of Medical. Synths and Skrell are the two races capable of basically being masters of their departments. Once again, your feedback is coming off as mean spirited and highly uninformed, I feel as if you have some sort of personal issue with Soulthief that you aren't disclosing and that seems really discourteous and insincere to me. -

Azande replied to Soultheif96's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Hi, this feedback sucks. It's very common for Captains and Command staff to allow people wanting to apply for Head of Staff to serve as a Deputy or senior position. In fact, Station Directives encourage us to assign Interim Heads of Staff, and also allow us to alter the chain of command of our own departments. The CMO in question actually ASKED ME (the Captain) to keep Sterben on as a deputy CMO, rather than demote him back to doctor. Do NOT speak for me, the CMO or any other command staff in these cases. I have been maining Command for five years now, and letting people have a chance at command has and will always be common. Please learn station directives, regulations and command in general KingOfThePing. Now, onto my feedback on the app. I really like Sterben - I haven't met your other characters however, so I'll give a tentative +1 based on what I've seen from your roleplay as Sterben and your ability to handle your department and regulations. -
[Accepted] Idris Incorporated
Azande replied to The lancer's topic in Lore Canonization Applications Archive
Hello, Idris Incorporated is my personal pet, I even had a google sheets+google forms banking system that players could use to simulate banking with them. I support this completely, and I am glad someone noticed my lovely little banking corp :3 @Zundy @The lancer -
IMPORTANT NOTE THE ROLES IN THE POST ARE EXEMPLARS OF WHAT IS POSSIBLE, THEY ARE NOT THE ACTUAL BODY OF THE SUGGESTION ITSELF NOR AM I ATTACHED TO THEM BEING IMPLEMENTED IF THE SUGGESTION IS ACCEPTED. Thank you.

Again, these jobs are exemplars, and I meant the normal shuttle that all crew fly over on. As well, CCIA / IA do NOT handle OSHA or health and safety matters, their only concern is personnel and whether personnel are behaving as required within corporate regulations. The inspector would be from the government and ensuring NanoTrasen is adhering to government health/safety regulations. It could actually provide an interesting dynamic if there was also an IAA on board that wished to accompany the inspector around to take note of any employees that make NT look bad.
-
I'd say one of these in every 3-4 rounds, and different JOTD (jobs of the day) could have different weight, for example OSHA Inspector and Celebrity could be more rare to occur than Test Subject.
-
These are ultimately just examples of what could be possible. I hold no attachment to the individual jobs I've suggested, they're just exemplars!
-
It'd be all good laptops, I think that'd be easiest, and also discourage people from just spawning in with crappy ones from the loadout.
-
P.S., merchant could either remain separate or be folded into this.
-
Of course, adding jobs of the day also opens it up so more players could suggest new ones, they could be rotated out, etc.
-
Idea humbly borrowed from SS13's Goon Servers, specifically Job of the Day and Gimmick Jobs https://wiki.ss13.co/Jobs#Job_of_the_Day The premise is this. , Every round, there is a random chance a job of the day from a list of Jobs of the Day will be available to join in as, with 1-3 slots available only depending on the role. These are smaller, more gimmicky jobs that add a chance to play an interesting and fun one-off character, or give you a break from the more serious roles on board. Here are a few of my ideas for some of the roles: Test Subject Spawns in a plain white outfit, zero credits in their account. Their job is to go to Science or Medical, and make money by submitting themselves to research tests. They don't have to sign any release forms, as they've already done this at Central Command. The Test Subject is in debt and needs cash, and so is more willing to do dangerous tests than normal crew would be. Prisoner Spawns in via the prison cryo. A prisoner from a previous shift, gives the Warden someone to manage and interact with until actual prisoners (if any) come into the Brig. Spawns in an orange jumpsuit, orange shoes, and an ID that says 'Permanent Prisoner'. Their goal is to escape without stretching into the realm of openly murdering Security. Be sneaky, etc. OSHA Inspector Spawns in at CC and takes the shuttle over. They get a fancy suit, and a briefcase with a clipboard, camera and recorder. They have access to the bridge only, but do have authorization from the government and NTCC Odin to inspect all departments for health and safety violations. Command staff should be accommodating, and allow them to fax their report to the government before round end. Brownie points to any inspector able to get their report sent off! Bridge Assistant/Command Intern Spawns in with a suit or skirt on depending on gender (sexist but functional), and a clipboard. They only get bridge access but also get a command headset like IAAs. Their job is to assist the command staff. Celebrity A random celebrity, maybe they're a singer, an athlete, or professional chess player. They've paid the Odin for an exclusive tour of the Aurora... Except, it's the crew's job to give the tour, and provide Security, and make them feel important. Command staff should be accommodating of them, and ensure they enjoy their stay. Spawns in with 10,000 credits in their bank account. Miscreant Class Spawns in with a visitor or assistant ID. They're on board for a specific, semi-criminal/disruptive reason, here are my perceived sub-classes for the miscreant class: Corporate Spy Just your average corporate lackey, hired from one of hundreds of corporations to get pictures of sensitive areas on board. They're not a traitor or a syndicate, and are not willing to harm people - they're only there to get documents, data, and pictures. Spawns with insulated gloves and a camera. Drug Dealer A random guy/gal living on the Odin trying to make a living, managed to get a pass to visit the Aurora and see if they could turn a profit at the same time. They spawn with a variety of drug products in a lunchbox in their backpack. Turn a profit before round end. Protester A bleeding heart, preachy vegan, who knows! NanoTrasen has a lot of enemies, many of whom are just common folk! You could be protesting science's animal rights violations, the kitchen's use of monkeys for meat, security's abuses of crew. Your job is basically to rally a protest about X issue before the round ends, and hopefully get Command to come to an agreement with your cause, or arrest you. Not a revolutionary, and not willing to get violent or harm others for their cause. Spawns with a megaphone and multi-coloured pen for poster making. Union Salt A union salt is someone working for a union that infiltrates a business to stir up unionization. The Union Salt's job is to get enough crew signatures on a piece of paper declaring their intent to unionize before round end, as well as negotiate with command for crew representation Not a revolutionary, not willing to use violence for their cause. NanoTrasen permits the suspension/demotion of union salts, and it is not illegal to do so under Biesel law.

Hello, your friendly neighborhood XanderDox/Azande here. I have a suggestion, and it's rather simple. Remove laptop vending machines. Why? It's simple, buying a 1500 credit laptop every shift is weird, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense, and is just an extra no-roleplay step in your round running to vend one out. But wait! This topic is labelled 'REPLACE' laptop vendors, not 'REMOVE' laptop vendors! You can read, congratulations! My idea is to provide the Librarian with a laptop cart, aka a cart of laptops, and be able to sign these out to the crew on loan through their library console - similar to a book. I got this idea from my old high school and my university, which do this to sign out laptops to students. This will mean instead of running to a nameless vending machine to get your laptop, you'll be able to interact with the librarian a bit, have some chitchat. Additionally to go with this, laptops would be added to the loadout for those who do not wish to be stranded without one when there's no librarian, HOP or Captain. However, loadout laptops would be lower quality (the cheaper version) and the library laptops would have all the upgrades. Whaddaya think?
