Instead of making another post, I'll just add onto this one. I really really really really really really really don't think this is something we need.
-
Don't you think you should've at least let them(being Dire) say something on the forums before coming to the decision?
-
Only if you want him to be :^) But yeah, in clothes preferably. The black HoS trenchcoat if it's not an issue.
-
Vittorio Giurifiglio - Phoebe Essel Emma Godswood/Niklaus Nox/Lux I'll do more as more pop up, but I'd still like some feedback on me/my characters (Ryu and Sam mostly)

Name: Ryu'daken Mo'taki Species: Tajara Flavour Text:A Tajaran stands before you at a well-built height of 6'6''. His fur is the white of Adhomai snow, with an imposing ruff of grey fur over his head and neck. The tip of his powerful (but undoubtedly fluffy) tail is also grey. Scars litter his forearms, and the tip of his left ear is gone entirely, suggesting he engages in conflict regularly. He has what humans call 'resting bitch face', with focused eyes of pale blue. Other stuff: He's got a thing/muscular build not like mike chang, Sort of like this, except covered in a whole wack'o'fur.

Ryu'daken Mo'taki Head of Security Tajara, standing 6'6, weighing in at 220lbs. He has pure white fur, with smalls scars littered over his forearms, a bit mark missing from his ear. Has low tolerance for Humans, even low tolerance for Unathi. If he's not Head of Security dealing with the stupids the security team, he's an assistant sitting in the bar drowning in Kira specials. SAM Research Directing IPC without a filter or any care for peoples feelings. Stands 6 feet, with sort of a hunch. Usually has both hands linked behind his back, with his monitor more than likely in your face. He enjoys doin things that most people don't do, IE Space Exploration, Telecoms, Telescience. Doesn't believe any organic can hold a candle to synthetic intellegence. DIssuasion of Thought A roboticist Diona, standing 8'3, with an indeterminible weight. A released slave worker, who doesn't know better, and is incapable of pronouncing human names, he finds beauty in just about everything in life. He enjoys how slow he walks, he's able to take in his surroundings, enjoy everything the station has to offer. Doesn't take well to personal attacks however. Enjoys boxing in the holodeck.

Ryu'daken Mo'taki.. ... listens to crappy 19980/90's rap music. ... is terrified of getting diseases/sick. ... hates people with bright/neon hair. ... had no friends prior to working on the Aurora. ... never had a relationship off of the Aurora, has had two since. ... can cook just about anything with boiled water. ... hates when people use the word "patty"

Player Complaint: Callum99877 and Draculabot
nanotoxin replied to A Vision of Sound's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
I am very aware that the complaint is about Dracula and Callum. I was merely pointing out it's redundancy at the fact that you behave in a manner similar to theirs, and are also whitelisted. I .. also have nothing to say about these accusations and name calling, lol, but matters like this you could've asked instead of shooting it out without any proof or talking to me. I've given my two cents and my opinion on the complaint. Good luck there pal. -

That's fine, because you are not involved with this complaint, nor is your opinion currently required for this thread. I am not saying your opinion does not matter, you just are simply shitposting on a thread that has nothing to do with you. I would write up another essay detailing on why said opinion is not the entire truth, but I will wait for the others to respond first. I had pointed it out as I hoped others would follow suit. And yes, while head of staff whitelisted players should be held to a higher standard, you do need to be whitelisted to play Unathi as well. Making a player report agaisnt a character who has a hairtrigger temper, the same as your whitelisted character, who has quite the reputation ICly and OOCly, seems kind of silly to me. I'd like to quote a silly little book real quick. "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?" I don't know if you are religious or not, but the message applies. Attimus has a lot of problems to be worked out. IIRC, on a different server, he raped someone, as well as a plethera of complaints and incident reports about him, icly and oocly. I don't think pointing out how others play their characters when Attimus has just as many flaws and personality traits as the other two. While yes, Dracula may have been a little off base with his methods, that may just how that character dealt with a character such as Attimus. The complaint about these other two players seems invalid to me. Sort of the pot calling the kettle black. I've only heard of others doing so, Attimus is the only character I've seen first hand doing so. Also The longer it is =/= The more right you are -
Player Complaint: Callum99877 and Draculabot

Now let me stop you right there son, Attimus is the only character I've ever seen in my 11 months of playing this game ever use (and heavily abuse) the insulting an officer charge. It's a stupid law and Attimus(or you oocly, idk) don't know the definition of it. Saying you're stupid or shut up doesn't classify as reason to detain for said law. The rest of your argument has lost it's value almost completely, to me at least. -
It's more of a theme album than song but, I always listen to Childish Gambino's album Camp https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6yOiRMDJ9o When playing Ryu'daken in security.

Is there a list or something of the Diona's different organs? Also, is there a list of the Diona's buffs and debuffs, in specifics anywhere.

Dominions 4: Thrones of Ascension It's a really good game and even a potato can run it. It's a turn based strategy that works well for large amounts of players, since movement is done at the end of the turn. pfft, aint nobody got that kind of money

The game Lethal league, I think, would be a bunch of fun. Some games that could be fun for a large group of people (Just going off my steam list) Also some games that could be fun for a smaller group of people (Again from my steam list) And I'm not sure on everyone's opinion on Moba's, but games like League of legends, Smite, and Dota2 are free. I'm not sure about Smite/Dota, but if we had 6/10 willing players, we'd be able to have a game to ourselves.

SS13 was written by people who thought, hey this is cool, and adds it. Without thinking about what affect it will have in the long run. They are factors but the game runs on a flip of a coin, literally, a flip of a coin decides if you get hurt or the Armour takes the damage. No I don't want to make the system more realistic because that would take up a lot of my time. Time I would much prefer playing. This whole game is poorly designed. I'm not asking you to make it realistic or anything. I'm really not asking for anything to be changed. I like how it's realistic in that the species are actually different species instead of being reskinned humans. So.What. It should be unfair. They're not humans. We shouldn't make them as such.
-
I don't exactly know where to go to dig in the code tbh, but I'm fairly certain like things missing random shots(X attempts to hit Y), where you're aiming, what they're wearing are factors as well. I don't see the poor design in the different races having differnt buffs. Maybe if they had different debuffs, then maybe I could get behin that. But the complete removal of pretty much the Taj's only advantage, I think, is ludicrous. I think that's subjective as well. I think that different species, you know, actually being different, is a good thing. A damage buff, in my opinion, doesn't suck. Especially for a species that hunts. Wouldn't make sense lore wise either. If you wanted to play a game where everythings fair for everyone, I'm sure there's some games out there for you, but It was designed to be unfair. Life is unfair. This game's not supposed to be fair for everyone. They shouldn't have it removed because people are abusing that mechanics. Whitelists can be removed however.
-
That's kind of shitty (and subjective) to say. I believe I've done my part to explain my points. You don't really seem to display a good understanding of SS13 combat if in a single post you both say that "fights are click till you knock them down" but that a Tajaran "is not almost guaranteed a win" in this instance. I don't really have much else to say. I don't like being rude, but this has gone on for a few posts of back and forth, and, yeah, I'm just giving up. Also, if you're saying I'm trying to get "everything I don't like removed", then you've also failed at understanding why I've made the previous suggestion thread about cloning. It may be shitty thing to say, but I'm being honest lol. I've never heard any complaints about it till this thread. Also, I do quite frequently play Tajara, I do know that it's not a guaranteed win. And if fights aren't click till you win, then I guess I don't understand. I do know that where you hit, and what you hit them with makes a difference, but at it's core, ss13 fighting is click till you win. I was referencing your IPC brute damage resistance thread as well. Not just the cloning one. But they both seem to me as if "I don't like it get rid of it." sort of threads, this one included.

Other than you, who cares? Life isn't fair. So why should a video game that's trying hard to be like real life fair? Removing it wouldn't make it any more fun. Everyone has advantages and disadvantages. A human can just as easily pick up a bar stool a bottle of liquor if it's a bar fight. Besides, the Taj is not almost guaranteed a win? I'm not certain, but I don't think cuts will knock you down. Fights in ss13 are pretty much click till you knock them down, then you win. A human can just as easily knock them down, wether it be disarm intent or straight up knocking them down. And I have faith that if someone was picking a race just to use their robustness, our wonderful staff would easily pick up on it. Either that, or the staff that handle the whitelist applications would pick up on it on that persons application. I still don't understand why everytime you personally don't like something, you want to remove it completely.
-
I was meaning, using them to power game/playing to win, because if they're not used to power game/play to win, then why the hell would the be a problem? It could also be argued that absuing that advantage could break the don't be a dick rule.

I'd like to direct you to this post where you said: http://aurorastation.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=2463&start=60#p24589 As well as this one where you said: To me saying that you were headmin and knew people would break the rules. http://aurorastation.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=2463&start=70#p24595 When did this change? Whitelisted players are(should be at least) held to a higher standard than antags. Anyone can be an antag, but you need to be whitelisted to be Taj or Unathi. Instead of clipping their claws/whatever unathi have, we should explain to them how to taj/unathi better, rather than let them run rampant and leave their victims to be brought to medbay for bandaids or whatever.
-
Unless you're playing to win, who cares about balance. It's a roleplaying game. It's more focused on the roleplay instead of the mechanics of the game. Yeah, a declawed or clipped option in character creation would be a good thing, enabling the more docile and cowardly tajara to follow, but to remove it from all tajara would just be stupid, they're not humans so bringing them to the level of humans is also not good for rp. Unathi were meant to be physically strong. To remove all their bonuses would ruin them and kill all RP. Fighting them isn't meant to be a small task, and it'd be done much easier and often if they were just as strong as humans. I personally think the removal of these key functions to these species is an atrocious idea.
-
Do we want realistic roleplaying game, or do we want a fair game? Life isn't fair, so why should a roleplaying game, focusing on realism be? If anything, there should be more ways to customize, like Jackboot had said. Don't just suggest to take things away because you don't like it.

~ Crescentise's Head of Staff Application ~
nanotoxin replied to Crescentise's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Cres is a top tier role player. I'd love to this character/cres join the whitelist/head of staff. From what I have seen, Cres is a natural leader, whether it be ICly or OOCly. She's able to be assertive and keep her department members in check. She's also one of the best for creating interesting RP situations for people ICly, and that would only be better in a head of staff position. I'd really like to see Cres in a head position, and I give this application my complete. -
If he acknowledged that all his characters were the same, then perhaps, maybe, I'd be able to give more than inane comments. But as it stands, Xander is very adamant that these characters aren't the same, despite a collection of players clearly seeing other wise, who have stated that they'd like to see him try something different as well. I was stating that Xander is a creative person, and can do much better than what he is doing. He should be able to make up an original character without others constructive comments. If not I don't see why he would've been put on the lore team in the first place. I also think it's a tad ludicrous that you think the way Xander plays his characters would satisfy me. Xander may play them how he likes, in fact, dictating the way's other roleplays is something I truly despise. He made this thread because people were saying that his characters were almost the exact same personality wise, so I assume this thread would warrant at least a little feedback. But I digress. I'm not here to argue with you. I was stating that the backstories to Xander's characters didn't change that he played them the same. I'm not really bothered by this, but honestly, it's just something you'd expect on anything but a high RP server.

I feel it's super bad for roleplay to have the same character but with different names. There's no variety coming from Xander, and based on his work on the lore team, I know he's more than creatively capable of making a new character. I don't know, I know that everyone can be better at roleplaying, and I know I'm not perfect either, but I feel like Xander has a lot of potential and would be peachy to see an original character idea.
