  1. you're too blue
  2. Observed a round where a doppelganger Manuel Barros was antag and I think you handled it very well. The gimmick was able to play out and led to the silly bit near the end of aiming the gun between the two trying to figure out which was the "real" Barros. +1
  3. I appreciate the concern, and I do agree my antag play in the past has been very lackluster, and even had a warning for it. I have since then moved on to either not playing antag or waiting for a specific engaging idea before enabling my prefs for one. As for my characters being not worthwhile or meaningful to talk to for hours... I'm not sure what you mean by that as I can't say we've interacted IC much at all outside my bad antag play ages ago. I have no intention of abusing command power to shut down antag gimmicks, I've always loved to try to help them escalate in a reasonable way, and especially being a moderator now it would really be dumb to pull something like that?
  4. BYOND key: Jasorn Discord Username: Jasorn Character names: Leo Barnes, Stacy Keeley, Erik Russell, CH-3FFFFFF How long have you been playing on Aurora? Since about September 20th, 2022-ish? Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? One warning about bad antag play from over a year ago. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame? Heads of Staff are in my opinion the in-game version of DnD masters, who are also playing the game and want to interact. Everyone wants to have fun, but it requires a certain persons or group of people. Heads of Staff are not invincible, and are expected to be targeted. They serve a functionality as well, like communicating with their department and other heads of staff, which include their department too. They determine code levels and how to best determine them during each round, and even talking with staff on why a code level is warranted. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them? I think that Command players hold a similar responsibility to Staff members, which I am one. It's a role that I take very seriously OOC and want to further pursue IC as a command role. I find it very important to be able to understand each role taken as command to be able to explain to any subordinate how they should work their job. Other players should look to them for communication and reassurance of what is happening in the round/gamemode type. Explain how the recent events in the Spur changed your character and how they came to be employed on the SCCV Horizon. Jackson Fernand, used to be a low-life nobody aboard the ICV-Nobodies. He worked as an engineer and pilot when necessary, otherwise managed the food supplies. Managed to leave that shithole ship and move on to working in the The Frontier Protection Bureau, the Coalition Rangers. After working many years of engineering and piloting, sick of working for militaristic people, he decided to move on looking for work. Finding an offer from the SCCV Horizon, wanting an opening on an "Operations Manager", which meant running logistics and tasking miners? That's a job he would take and know. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Operations Manager Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking: Jackson Fernand - Operations Manager Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes Have you linked your BYOND account to the Forums? Yes Extra notes: o7
  5. It's been a month and a half, is this still being looked at?
  6. Hello, we decided that @Loorey made the correct action in applying the antag ban regarding your decision to throw the entire security armory into space, along with previous history. You mentioned how you haven't been warned in 6 months, despite myself giving you a warning about rule breaks less than a week ago. The point of the ban is for you to take time off, review the rules, and better your future antag rounds. The ban is 7 days and you're welcome to make an unban appeal for it if you want, as this complaint seems directed towards Loorey's handling of explaining the problem and why the ban was placed, which seemed clear of what the issue was from our understanding of it. If no other questions are made, this will be locked in 24 hours.
  7. Standard plate carriers and weapons you'd find in the crew armory. Since it's removed now it would be nice to order what was once in there, currently you can only get ballistic/ablative/riot.
  8. CH-3FFFFFF is new but I intend to play for a long time. an easy mug just being a giant TV head with a smiley screen, yellow background. Otherwise just white apron and grey steel chassis.
  9. Agree with all of these, especially the belts, I offered a refinery rework to Read but she wasn't able to get to it before leaving for months
  10. Jeff is someone who helped me start roleplaying on the server, and I consider all their characters to be exceptional for HRP standards. I've personally been waiting for a command character (OM yay) in this case to, so easy +1 from me.
  11. CH-3FFFFFF almost behaves very similar to a shipbound as being such a young IPC and very little experience outside of serving their owner, however seeks to learn and fit in with non-robot species. (This would be their first shift, but I plan to adapt their personality based on interactions round by round) They would cook to order for any crew, and likely dismiss any insults to them if any came, regarding their scuffed appearance/cooking/TTS voice, as they have learned to accept it from their owner's abuse. They would mostly stay in the kitchen since its the environment they know best and would feel at home. Adventuring out to the rest of the Horizon and interacting with crew would be a jarring experience for CH, but would be curious to examine people and ask questions. A scenario where code blue/red happens and there's antags causing havoc, CH wouldn't understand the motives, but would focus heavily of self-preservation. It's extremely young and would fear being scrapped again, so likely close the kitchen and hide in the freezer if it came to it, and seeking advice from any other crew near them. Another scenario if it got damaged and needed to be brought to the workshop, CH would be extremely grateful, in response to having been saved before by a machinist. A likely step toward learning to developing bonds to humans in a new way it's not had before. Seeking to have their own ideas, personality, possessions, etc. would likely ask questions of "Why? Why repair me?" and really try to understand human culture at the least, venturing into other species later on. Overall the goal for this character is to drop them into an entirely new environment and try to learn/adapt to essentially a new life, becoming human you could say.
  12. IPCs being the only race that by default lack senses that can heavily influence human to human interaction, such as pain, taste, smell. In the case of my character they would've struggled to understand they food they were cooking, as they weren't equipped with sensors for food. Any comments of something smelling/tasting gross would be an alien concept. Sharing a meal with another person is one of the best ways to interact and bond, and until CH-3FFFFFF was recently upgraded with the ability to taste, this wasn't possible. Their early life was fairly short and uneventful, as they were purpose built by a rich man who generally saw them a cooking machine and nothing else. Even the slightest of errors would lead to abuse, or had potential to, CH-3FFFFFF had no other perception of life so this was expected, but out of their control as were slowly deteriorating from faulty manufacture. Overall, they only really knew to provide sustenance to their owner, and attempt to maintain self-preservation where possible.
  13. BYOND Ckey: Jasorn Discord username: Jasorn Character names: Leo Barnes, Stacy Keeley, Erik Russell Species you are applying to play: IPC (Integrated Positronic Chassis) Baseline ------------------------------ General Whitelist Requirements What colour do you plan on making your first alien character?: (IPCs exempt) Have you read the lore pages for the species you wish to be whitelisted for?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this species?: I’ve been playing on the server for close to two years now and want to branch out my roleplay with different species other than human. My favorite sc-fi type future has always been robots and how they could be developed to replace/mimic/co-exist alongside humans. I think that a particular playstyle of a new robot trying its best to mimic a human’s lifestyle interests me the most. (One of my favorite sp story games is Detroit: Become Human) What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?: Humans have all the worries of suffocation, hunger, thirst, blood loss, broken bones, etc. While IPCs don’t face these challenges, they have their own. Mainly having a constantly draining battery than can instantly be emptied by an EMP, or overheating from lack of cooling (though similar to humans freezing/burning). What interests me most is the roleplay associated with this species instead of the mechanics. I want to play a relatively new species that’s inept at normal social cues and tries its best to fit in. What makes it the most interesting is the ability to enter an RP environment without knowing how to speak or act. As a human, you would likely just act as you would IRL, as a base case anyway. The strangeness on how IPCs can think and communicate versus an organic offers new interesting scenarios, unusual to the norm. ------------------------------ Character Application Character Name: CH-3FFFFFF Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon. CH-3FFFFFF is an owned IPC that was created as their sole-purpose being an owned chef in Tau Ceti space within the last year. Their initial construction was normal and they went on to live as a slave basically cooking meals for their owner every day. After months of normal use CH-3FFFFFF showed signs of malfunction, lacking in ability to understand basic speech, and memory loss. Their owner having reported the malfunctions to their assembler, they were met with denial and refusal to offer any repairs or refunds, and to simply get a replacement, which ultimately is what was done. Their owner having been frustrated with this, decided to try and force CH-3FFFFFF to work better by forcibly yelling at it what to do, and after days of consistent failure, physically beating the IPC until shutdown. After giving up on the IPC the owner tossed it in the trash, with intentions on buying a new one from a different seller. A newly aspiring machinist found the scrapped IPC and took it into their shop and had said they were willing to fix them if they were willing to sell them off to the SCC, who had been offering cheap IPC workers for simple jobs. Their short time with the machinist has sparked a new desire to serve organics, not forcibly, but out of enjoyment, not only for the person, but for itself. CH-3FFFFFF had learned new recipes and better how to act on it’s own, cracking small jokes and remembering the machinist’s usual meals. Delighted, the machinist installed a taste augment for CH-3FFFFFF to taste their own cooking. This lit up a new desire for them to cook better and more, not only for itself, but to try and satisfy those around it. Following this scuffed repair and brief adoption, learning surprisingly new tricks, CH-3FFFFFF was sent to the SCCV Horizon and given a job as chef, hired by Orion, however still battered and struggling to accommodate with non-IPCs. Hoping for a new start, and using their very newly learned techniques to blend into the melting pot that is the Horizon. How has the recent events of the Orion Spur impacted your character? Events such as the Phoron Scarcity, the Solarian Collapse or even the Invasions of Biesel for interstellar-wide affairs, while region-specific events such as the Peacekeeper Mandate, The Titan Rises or even Cold Dawn may impact your character. The recent Konyang events regarding IPCs becoming “zombies” has scared CH-3FFFFFF beyond their own computing, frequently leading to overloading and subsequent short outs lasting roughly a minute. Following this they try their best to mimic humans in anyway they know how, likely failing regardless, but they fear for their life, as they had already been scrapped before. Despite this, they pretend any event had happened, and would do their best to move any interaction forward. How does your character view the megacorporation they work for? CH-3FFFFFF is grateful for the SCC as they have given them an opportunity to work, and a new start. Overall, they wouldn’t be super excited about working for a megacorporation but based on how they’ve lived in the past and been trashed before, it’s definitely a new beginning for it. Likely a tough future but a better one.
