  1. What can we do to lure more players into the mining profession? I was thinking maybe alter the crates they find to have more of a chance of being opened, and contain more fun stuff.
  2. Nothing besides 'take your pill' and then later telling Stein to go back to the Syndie base.
  3. I've really, really wanted to ever since I saw the first trailer. However, the price tags on everything just make cringe.
  4. I'm not even slightly mad that I got killed, it was a fun and frantic battle. The welder bomb was waaaay into the fight though. I'd taken a lot of shots by that point and multiple times I'd retreated and repaired up the armor damage before it became crippling. What got me killed was the explosion the Ops set off outside the Vault which destroyed the camera and prevented me opening any doors to get around them. I HAD to go back past you to get repairs, but I met an Op in maintenance who finished me off. My first contact with Ops was when I met Belgian and Azure outside the Cargo office and was immediately fired upon. While an Engiborg should probably be considered a non-combatant, I'm not too concerned with the outcome of the fight. I managed to facewelder an Op to death who was on fire and kept dropping to the floor to put themselves out, and thus dropping their weapon. My only problem was with the meta communication. Using LOOC to instruct other Ops after you've died is very bad meta in my opinion, but if the admins disagree then I'm happy for that to be the end of it.
  5. What provides more RP potential? A Nuke Op that is captured alive, or a Nuke Op that takes their cyanide? The Nuke he was talking to was very close to getting captured, considering they were knocked out for a about a minute with only a bolted door to keep ERT from away him. They may have oocly agreed the suicide pact earlier on, but Farcrys insistance pushed the still-living Op to choose suicide over attempting to escape, or fight on. I don't know how close to death they were already, though. I still feel it was very meta-driven. As to the ganking, I know I at least felt ganked when Farcrys Op opened fire on my borg, NG-X, the moment he saw me. There was also plasma in the air at the time, the shooting set off a plasma fire and continued to do so in the firefight that progressed down to the hall by the Vault. Unlike Secborgs, an Engiborg has only a flash to defend themselves and should be considered a non-combatant. There were two Ops when NG-X arrived so the borg was absolutely not going to rush in. My intent was to run away, but the ensuing plasma fire tripped firelocks and forced confrontation that I was trying to flee from without spreading the plasma fire. I'm not sure how plasma got into the atmo distribution. I suspect it was an Op, but I was still alive at that point and have no proof.
  6. BYOND Key: K0NFL1QT Player Byond Key: Farcry11 Reason for complaint: Mainly, using LOOC to give orders to nuke ops after dying as one. Secondly for being a shoot-first, ask nothing murderboner. The whole round, the only nuke op I saw speak was Stein, who was off station. Every other sighting appeared to cause instant gunfire.
  7. Nuke Ops bombed the server.
  8. I was there when this happened, so I think it's justified me weighing in. I spotted your character in the hall, with no ID and a gasmask on to mark them as 'Unknown', dragging a wrapped parcel behind you. I chased you from the medlobby to the bar, hitting the "HALT! SECURITY!" hailer as I followed. You ignored it and ran into the bar, where you aimed a gun at some barfly and ordered us all to get down and not make radio contact. As ordered, nobody touched their radios. Now, to clarify, there was a Detective right outside the door with easy access to their revolver. I was the Head of Security, only a few squares away, with an energy pistol in my bag. There was the barman with the shotgun, plus the doctor and the guy you locked down with your gun. Yes, you had a hostage, but two of the three of us who had weapons and weapon training had a clear shot at you. We didn't immediately fire because you had the civilian in your scopes. The barman is entirely justified using their weapon to end conflicts in the bar area, and although they put their aim on you they did not fire. You fired first in reaction to having a gun pointed back at you. You elevated it out of a hostage situation into a fire fight by shooting first, before anyone had chance to speak. In about two seconds there would have been three guns on you. How would you have reacted to that, then? I doubt you would have surrendered, as someone probably should when a stand off goes three to one. I suspect you would have just doubled down on your threats, like so many hostage takers. In which case, we probably would have taken our shots at you to neutralize your threat after a bit of posturing, unless you specifically maneuvered the hostage between yourself and all three of us. You didn't. You shot the barman in the face. They closed their shutters while me and the detective took you down. Once you were tazed, I cuffed you. Now, the doctor who joined in after you were detained was plainly out of order. They apparently had no weapon training, nor reason to start firing into a defused conflict. They picked up your dropped weapon and shot at you while I had you in cuffs, but shot me, the Head of Security, in the chest with a laser rifle and then shot your characters arm off with a revolver before themselves getting stunned. Afterwards they said they had no idea the conflict was over, or that there were any Security present, despite it being quite plainly obvious. Personally, I don't think the situation warranted a ban, but I didn't see your reaction to admin intervention. It was a botched hostage attempt with a well trained and armed presence in the crowd. Nice try, but no cigar. What sucked is that you immediately ghosted, which I would say is really bad form on a Heavy Roleplay server. "Oh shit, Sec busted me. I'm done with this round".
  9. Insert endorsement here. Baka played a decent Dionaea a few rounds ago. I think they can handle the race and play it well.
  10. Server down? I think server's down. EDIT:- And it's back up!
  11. I've played against you as a cultist before, and watched how you play it when I've died. I know you don't go 'spawn sword, kill everything' mode. What you do is wait until people come in for surgery, straight jacket them while unconscious, then threaten them with agonizing torture, death and dismemberment if they don't willingly convert. It's like geneticist changeling. No-one has any cause to suspect it and there's no way to really catch it except watching the specific cameras all round. Add on that the authority of a Head of Department to throw orders that will result in brigtime if disobeyed... meh. Cult just leaves a sour taste in my mouth because there's not much you can do against it without metagaming, actual or just accused, or having a generally religious crew who'll quickly listen to the Chaplain before they get robusted. But, putting that aside to consider your character and your roleplay independent of game-mode, hell yes I endorse you.
  12. Son, what are you doing down in Xenobio? I been hearing some strange noises.
  13. I think I've only ever played with you on Dalton, but you've proven yourself a competent roleplayer so far. I don't know much about Unathi characteristics and culture, but I'd endorse this.
  14. The Recovery Operator or Army Technician both sound suitable. Just to get an idea of scale and appropriateness, this is what a APLU Ripley is based off, as I'm sure you know; Now, in-game, the Ripley takes up one square just the same as a person, so we can assume it's not too much bigger, as per the picture. The main difference between SS13's Ripley and the Aliens Power Loader is that a Ripley is fully enclosed with armor plating, but seems to be about the same size. Unless I'm mistaken, the higher-tier mechs also take up only one square, so it's reasonable to assume they're also not much larger than human by more than a few/several feet, and resemble large suits of enclosed power armor as opposed to the gigantic mechs of MechWarrior. But as far as I know, there's no official guesstimations of their size and weight, etc. So, from your input, I would conclude that an Army Technician would have the training most compatible with the operation of a Ripley/Odysseus/Gygax/Durand. If you can pull up a picture to better represent the sort of gear they'd be equipped with, that'd help greatly. That said, what sort of operations would Army Technicians be deployed on, and against what kind of foe? What rank would an Army Technician have to hold to be comfortably versed in the use of their suits, and about how long do you envisage their training to have been, so I can better approximate an appropriate age for the character.
  15. I like the idea of uniforms, but everyone likes to look a little different at least now and then. For example, I don't like to wear the labcoat on my roboticist and the standards jumpsuit for them just looks weird. I don't imagine there's a whole lot of demand for the brightly colored jumpsuits, but that's me. When I do decide to wear one that's not the expected standard it's usually the black or grey one, which are supplied abundantly in the locker room. Why are jackboots 3 points when they offer no mechanical benefit, while gloves are cheaper and webbing the same but both provide some functional value?
  16. Okay, for my roboticist, I'm looking to flesh out her background a little bit but I could use your help. Are there any planets, or military forces, that make regular use of ground troops in mechanised exosuits? They could be less advanced than the standard fare Nanotrasen can field, but I'm looking for more than power armor and less than Durands. Even if it's just Ripleys, or equivalents, with mounted guns and ammo packs. I'm trying to avoid her being a grizzled NT special ops/ERT mechanised forces trooper, but still experienced in combat mech piloting and standard military training
  17. Greg Ryan gave my character surgery for a broken rib three times and still couldn't fix it. Also, after the first time, he left me in the recovery room still hooked up to anesthetic. He performed over ten surgeries in a short space of time, that round. And attempts to ghetto surgery on tables if/when medbay is bombed. Also, basing off what I've heard, he seems like a very neutral doctor in terms of who he chooses to heal; by that I mean he will do his damnedest to treat anyone and everyone who ends up on his table, and I like that quality in a potential CMO. Good roleplayer, solid in the doctor role. I endorse.
  18. While Tina seems like a good doctor, and doesn't have an antisocial personality, what worries me is a character in a command role who pretty much lives for cult. She seems to flip cultist every round I've seen the mode active with her on, but I've never watched her transition to know how well she either resists or accepts the conversion. Antag heads make a round so much more difficult, unless there are unconverted heads who can challenge their authority.
  19. 1138's a great roleplayer, and I love Vira as a sassy Captain. The problem is Vira's an elite trained soldier who regularly does ERT/Captain/Scientist, so it would probably be a case of Vira having too many specialties because she takes the Plasma Researcher job when she doesn't want to Captain but still acts like a Soldier and hunts antags. Especially when she gets her hands on a Lawgiver.
  20. I was going to make this very topic. The current policy of 'don't put SSD's into cryo' is a severe hindrance. We end up with a high percentage of the crew SSD, blocking job slots for other players and holding equipment that others could be using. When new players come in and can only spawn as Assistant they complain in OOC and eventually call the shuttle and wreck the round for the rest of the players just so they can have a meaningful job. I'm not advocating moving someone to a cryo pod the moment they faceplant, because it might just be a temporary disconnection. Most of them are not, though. We should be permitted to move SSDs to cryo after a reasonable time. And honestly, if they reconnect after an hour and bitch that their character was croy'd while they were disconnected, tough luck. I'd rather give preferential treatment to players who are trying to join an ongoing round and participate than those who've left the game. And the more people who can join as the job they want, the less shitty transfers we'll get during peak time.
  21. K0NFL1QT

    Serious question.

    Step one: Bomb arrivals.
  22. I've taken a shine to my true love, Engineering, again. So I will likely have Hope Whytestar fill in as CE off the back of this application as well.
  23. 30 is the usual minimum for Head positions.
