  1. I'm okay with short-range single-shot YOU STOP NOW tasers OR leaving them like they are OR toning down the ZZZZAP but adding a few more shots to the battery. No real stake either way. Bulky, battle-hardened marines who aren't really cheesed off and intent on feeding the other guy his own taser. Someone riding high on adrenaline and FIGHT isn't likely to stay down for long once the zappy stops - which is why they usually have other cops handy to jump in and apply a chokehold.
  2. It's not the usual longhairedgits on the left fascistscum on the right. Left: lots of government control over economy. Right: minimal government control over economy. Top: lots of government control over people. Bottom: minimal government control over people. Of course, in practice lots of control over one thing tends to lead to lots of control over others. For the public good, naturally. Also: liberals as in American REGULATE EVERYTHING AND ANYONE WHO DISAGREES IS A RACIST FASCIST liberals or European GET DAT GUMMINT TO LEAVE ME ALONE liberals? Didn't he actually say something to the effect that people who break a country's laws to get in aren't likely to follow other laws once they're there?
  3. In my WTF is going on thread, which I started because I am socially oblivious. So, those doctors/nurses who you see on the shuttle or in Escape sitting next to each other, whispering madly and occasionally giggling.
  4. Tasers, from what I've heard, aren't a sure thing. They're great while you hold the trigger but when you let up... There's a world of difference between some cadet getting dzzt'd in training and Urist McFelon who ISN'T GOING BACK TO JAIL AGAIN.
  5. Not sure if you're serious here, buuuut. Plasma fires I've seen usually end up taking out like half of the station. It's not a distraction, it's an all-out murder weapon. The Holodeck's is much, much worse; considering it's right in the middle. Plasma fires usually only take out one or two rooms before tunneling to space and venting the place. To be truly deadly they need a constant supply of fuel. For example, the holodeck's endless flow of incendiary hot holoplasma.
  6. Doesn't seem to map too well to the Right = Literally Hitler Left = Peace and Love and Brotherhood arrangement. Quiz needs a "I don't care, get off my lawn" option. On monarchy: I'm okay with it. People tend to behave pretty similarly no matter who they are or where they come from. When you know a specific guy is going to be getting the hat, you'll have time to figure out from his past behaviour if you'll be wanting to prepare for the coronation with chocolates or ammunition.

    Help Intent

It's really not necessary. People who are careless with weapons have NDs. Adding safeties would just add another thing to go wrong. People get tripped up enough by hostage intent without adding another layer of trouble.
  8. Twin disposals cyclotron - inner ring clockwise, outer counterclockwise. The initial proof-of-concept used floor tiles, glass shards and all sorts of random crap I found lying around, but small objects don't reliably activate the chutes.. The mess in the middle is because of difficulties getting the lockers and crates into the stream. Imagine a constant disposals siren just quiet enough that you can't be quite sure if you're hearing something or not all the way to the bar. Incidentally, a flying locker to the groin does no damage at all. fix plz
  9. I was pretty much right behind Glory when the balloon went up, and all I saw was Isra sitting in the corner and Murray being bandaged and injected with something by the CMO. Allegedly this was soporific, but Tamsin was the loudest sedated person I've ever seen so I'm inclined to doubt it. I asked a few questions- and forgot to ask for witnesses because Sec is new to me -and pretty much came to: -Isra had moved Tamsin somewhere presuming her to be SSD and Tamsin had taken offense -Tamsin had tried to bundle Isra into a locker - claiming it was because Isra was murdering her -Isra had clawed Tamsin to avoid being locker'd -Tamsin had most likely started it - lockering someone in the middle of a claws-out catfight being tricky at best -Isra had used excessive force while acting in perceived self-defence and -while Isra had used excessive force, it was nowhere near being a murder attempt The reasoning was, ICly, that no-one shouting that loudly could possibly be as badly hurt as Tamsin said she was, especially after nothing more than basic first-aid, and OOCly, that she wasn't being dragged gasping to surgery or hooked up to an IV to replace half of her blood. In the end I gave both a warning to keep their hands to themselves. Now, I'm entirely okay with the above. Sometimes people fight, sometimes people do stupid things and sometimes Tajarans like to claw/claw/bite instead of tabling their opponents and going for a chokehold like real men. My issue is: literally before I crossed the hall back into Sec to grab any gear beyond the spawn-in kit, there was screaming on the radio because Tamsin Murray had got into a shoving match with some doctor who wanted to clean up the blood in Genetics. Because 'evidence'. Despite the fact that both parties had confessed. Immediately after being explicitly told to keep her hands to herself.
  10. Can someone who isn't completely socially oblivious please explain to me what all these dramas are about? What is a clique? What do cliques do? What do they look like? Why are they so world-shatteringly terrible? What is "toxic" RP? And... what the hell is an SSL? Please explain as though to a man who has no background in RP and who thinks "hello" is a full and sufficient greeting. I'm not talking about this latest drama, either, though it's the catalyst; there's been a new thread on the subject every week or so since I first started browsing the forum, and I'm no closer to understanding things now than I was then.
  11. he rite i dum disregard
  12. right i dum, disregard
  13. Why can't you just grab the one in maint? Syndie-Cakes are in vending machines too. Sounds like it would require a complete rework of how damage and armour work - which I'm okay with, but I'm also not one of the people who'd have to go through every bit of damage-related code making updates. Drunken brawlers I'm okay with - if you manage to chase someone down while staggering and confused, you deserve to win.
  14. Retroactive arse-covering?
  15. My issue is that IIRC the l/r thing is japanese, not korean.
  16. Flat chance of lol-nope doesn't sound like this'd be workable, though I don't know how armour and damage work codewise. Usual way of doing that is weapons have a damage range- say, 10-15, or 17 on a crit -and RNG determines how hard a given blow hits, at which point armour comes into play. I like Fallout's armour system, but I've got no idea how one would go about porting it to SS13. It'd probably be reasonably straightforward, assuming percentage reductions are possible.
  17. Strictly speaking, executing someone who can't be contained- wiz, say -wouldn't count as capital punishment, though.
  18. https://tgstation13.org/wiki/Voice_analyzer#Voice_Analyzer Possibly an alternate mode for recorders. You say a word or phrase into the device, and the next time it hears that it sends out a signal. Port?
  19. I don't think Potassium Chloride and its derivative actually stop the heart, and even if they do, it'd be nice to have something to restart it. It'd be nice to actually be able to do heart transplants, though things as they are I can't imagine any situation in which it'd be necessary. Something to allow brain transplants without the cloning step for optimum mad science would be cool too. As for side effects - I'd think suppressing the immune system would make someone much more vulnerable to, say, Gibbington's. Something like doubled progression rate for diseases. Also random sneezing/coughing bugs, which wouldn't be able to affect people with actual immune systems.

    Biologist Position

Wouldn't it be simpler to just give them straight access to Surgery?
  21. Perfect. If they have anything for organ transplants that'd be neat too, because I'm pretty sure they're borked at the moment.
  22. More than a couple of sentences. There's also the fact that you said you'd redo it and put a bit more effort into it, but just copypasted the whole thing. Firstly, if you can't write clearly and with at least an approximation of grammar in a whitelist application, odds are you aren't likely to do much better when the power's out and the nuke ops are gesturing obscenely at you through the bridge window. Secondly, the character. Thirty is quite young, especially for a head position. This applies doubly as he had a very prestigious position somewhere else; anyone capable of tying his own shoes can become warden of East Chucklefuckistan Penitentiary & Auto Repair, but a big, famous place is going to have standards. Aurora's security team aren't quite police. They aren't quite mall-cops either; they're sort of in the middle. Experience as an MP isn't necessarily going to carry over. Experience as a warden could help, but only as far as being Aurora's warden, and as it says above, any clown with a pair of hands can sit behind a desk and supervise baldies. A Head of Security doesn't just need to know how to beat people up; he needs to know when to not beat people up, and how to talk to them so that they don't need to be beaten up. Something like a sherrif of an isolated settlement. Being good at your job isn't enough to be a Head; you're also supposed to lead. Someone who lacks empathy and feels contempt for anyone who isn't in authority over him isn't likely to inspire loyalty and cooperation, no matter how how many grey tides he's held at bay. The odds are that someone who wants and seeks power is also likely to want to exercise it, which, again, isn't a recipe for popularity.
  23. Alternate Assistant title?
  24. Basically a code tweak adding severed organic limbs to the list of items allowed in prosthetic surgery. Not sure how hands would be handled. Possibly with a need for the occasional antitoxin injection, if the limb came from someone with a different blood type, to prevent rejection.
  25. I'm OK with the idea of stungloves becoming oneshot items. They have, as I see it, two uses. -emergency self defence, in which case you'll stun & run and -concealed kidnapping tools, in which case you're initiating the combat and have a plan to make sure whoever you're zapping stays down. Shock prods, on the other hand, are suited for stunning all three greyshirts, but are easier to see coming.
