  1. I disagree with those saying that you can't apply with an Unathi who isn't from the Hegemony. Moghean culture feeds into Dominian culture, especially for Unathi. The character as outlined takes from both, being born on Moghes and living in the Empire. The dynamic of an Unathi now living in the Empire is different from the typical application for the species, that's true - but it's no less valid. Having spoken to the applicant several times in the past and seen their roleplay ingame, I have no doubt they're worthy of being accepted and capable of following the lore for the species and cultures. +1
  2. Tajara Terrorists Attack Sol Navy in Neutral Space Last night, a group of unidentified Tajara individuals in the Republic of Biesel boarded and attacked the crew of the ship SMV Halberd, hijacking its weapons systems in an attempt to fire on innocent civilians while it was docked near the Nanotrasen station NSS Aurora. Two brave marines were killed fending off the attackers, in addition to those killed and injured in the battle provoked by the People’s Republic of Adhomai earlier this week against that vessel. A statement has been released today from the Prime Minister’s office: “My administration, with full confidence in our military and intelligence services, believe the People’s Republic of Adhomai is responsible for this terrorist act. This government, with unanimous consent from the senate at an emergency meeting this morning, has passed the following: Firstly, an embargo of the People’s Republic of Adhomai. All ships, property of its citizens or that government, that are found in Sol space are to be interned and their crews detained until further notice. Secondly, all Tajara will be banned from entering or exiting the Alliance of Sovereign Solarian Nations. All aid, be it civilian or military, to the People’s Republic of Adhomai will be stopped. Our prayers and condolences are with the families of those killed and injured in these unprovoked, heinous attacks on our sovereignty. Further information will be released by this office when available, and we are considering every possible option in response to this incident.” An addendum was added to the bill at the request of several senators officially thanking Chief Engineer Farah Alfarsi and Research Director Nigel Silva of the NSS Aurora for their efforts in repairing the sabotaged engine of the ship and allowing it to return to SolGov space without further harm.
  3. Well, I've been asked to respond to this since I've been mentioned. Without commenting on any aspects of this complaint aside from where I have been asked to comment, the topsy-turvy map was approved by me, and I was one of the ones who championed bringing Admiral Frost back along with Zundy. As a side note, I would like to ask why the enforcement of the three deputy rule has not been mentioned until recent as for several months human lore had three deputies: SeniorScore, SamansaChan, and myself.
  4. 2461.5.1 Empire of Dominia Officially Recognizes New Kingdom of Adhomai This morning, at an officially scheduled conference, His Imperial Dominian Majesty announced that his government would recognize the New Kingdom of Adhomai as the legitimate and sole government of the planet of Adhomai. Present alongside the Emperor at the conference was Valirey Hirron, a Tajara professional soldier well known for his tactical expertise who has served in every conflict the Empire has seen in the past two decades. With him was Colonel-in-Chief Strelitz of His Majesty's Special Operations Group. “My government, as the nearest to the Tajara homeworld of Adhomai, has taken careful interest in their affairs throughout my reign. It is after a great amount of consideration and debate that we are today officially granting diplomatic recognition to His Majesty Nazira Ka’rimah’s government as the sole legitimate government of Adhomai. Goddess willing, we will attempt to open diplomatic relations with them as soon as possible, in order to better cultivate a friendly relationship that is mutually beneficial to both our peoples. Praise the Goddess.” For the Imperial citizens unacquainted with the frozen world of Adhomai, it is the homeworld of the noble Tajara, which are rarely seen inside Dominian borders. This planet has suffered under a three-sided civil war for the past nine years, before which was a vicious world-spanning revolution against the nobility that previously governed the planet. Currently the People’s Republic of Adhomai (PRA), a collectivist, secular state is recognized by other nations as the legitimate successor to previous administrations, fiercely opposed by the Democratic People’s Republic of Adohmai (DRPA), and the now-recognized New Kingdom of Adhomai (NKA).
  5. Vice President Welcomes Frontier Trade Mission This week, a trade mission sponsored by the Freedom Party's coalition, the dominant force in Frontier Alliance politics, arrived in Mendell City. They were welcomed at a celebratory barbecue by the newly-elected Vice President Fahjil, who gave this statement to reporters from the Bugle while grilling a steak: “We in Tau Ceti stand in solidarity with our friends in the frontier. Like them, we were once colonists settling a new frontier. He is sure that we will reach a mutually beneficial agreement that helps both the average worker and the big businessman.” He then offered our reporter a hotdog. Relations between the Frontier Alliance and the Republic of Biesel have always been warm, and recent efforts by both sides have seen increasing cooperation on matters of colonization, trade, and regulation, though progress has been slowed by the large majorities required in the Frontier Alliance’s Representative Summit to pass any legislation. The legislation passed to Congress for review today includes regulations on tariffs, exchange rates, working conditions, import and export quotas, and other sundry matters. An important addition was that all corporations seeking to do business in Tau Ceti must pay all Frontier laborers the Republic’s minimum wage or face heavy fines. The regulation will be enforced starting one month from the implementation of the agreement if it is approved by Congress and President Dorn.
  6. Well, it would be undue of me if I didn't sing Kyres' praises here. I've worked with them on more projects then I can count, they're active in the staff and in-game, they know the lore well, and they would make a fantastic synthetic lore maintainer. It is too bad I can give you only a +1.
  7. I agree with Zundy here. While this is fine for individual characters barring them being outright unbelievable, having a horde of these boys running around the station doesn't seem entirely right. Consider this application denied, but feel free to get creative along these lines for your own characters if you so desire.
  8. No introductions needed. Approved.
  9. Consider this lore app on hold as I decide what to do with it.
  10. Consider this accepted and in processing. Given the current and recent changes in the organization of Earth provinces and lore, I will have to find a place to put this, since the provinces of earth have been merged into three main ones.
  11. Accepted. It will be added to the page for Sol systems and colonies soon.
  12. Accepted. Expect to see this on the Mars page soon.

  14. 2460.17.11 Emperor Keeser Delivers State of the Empire Address in Capital Today, his Imperial Majesty Boleslaw Keeser addressed the assembled nobility and officer corps at the Court of Chalser in the capital. Standing behind him were the Lord Nobles as well as two members of His Majesty's Special Operations Group in uniforms marked with the Imperial crest. The speech, which lasted just under an hour, touched on several topics and included remarks from the Lord Nobles. His Majesty announced an expanded budget for the Imperial Navy for the upcoming fiscal year. He thanked houses Caladius and Zhao for the increase in the budget surplus noting their zeal, praise the Goddess, in reducing inefficiency and corruption, as well as receiving huge amounts of treasure from the recent anti-piracy operations. In the midst of these remarks the young son of Lady Noble Volvalaad, Eri Volvalaad, who was standing near the front of the crowd, shouted a question to the Emperor, asking “what are the giant dockyards for?” Though many were shocked at the interruption, the Emperor was seen laughing at the boy’s question. The enclosed slipways that the child referred to were constructed over three years ago, and are currently the largest ship construction facilities in the Empire, though no ships have yet been launched from the two docks located south of the Imperial Sea. These dockyards, dutifully guarded by the Navy's security force, have been closely secreted away from public view. Before continuing his remarks, the Emperor said that he, and the Empire, “would see in the near future the purpose behind them.” He further spoke on his desire to increase colonization efforts near the outer edges of the Empire, continue to cut down on inefficiency in the bureaucracy, and maintain the budgetary surplus the Empire has enjoyed for the last year and a half. The Emperor also spoke upon the impending opening of the first large stretch of the Imperial Canal, connecting the Imperial and Lyodic Seas. He closed with remarks that the Empire was “the largest, wealthiest, modern, and most powerful it has ever been, praise the Goddess and the Dominian spirit.” After a long standing ovation, he retired to the Imperial throne at the head of the courtyard to observe a parade by the three branches of the Imperial Military. The Lord Nobles proceeded to give brief remarks upon various matters pertinent to their Houses’ efforts, including a flustered Grand Duchess-Electress Volvalaad. The Imperial address, given at the Emperor’s pleasure and discretion, is his most recent following one last year where he spoke on the political state of the Empire and the Orion Spur as a whole. Praise the Goddess, and long live the Empire.
  15. Prime Minister Forced To Grant Pardon To Frost Following Unprecedented Use Of Powerful Senate Motion 11.12.2460 As of 12:83 pm GST, Admiral Frost is a free man and private citizen once again. On Unity Station, the Senate voted 55-28 to trigger a “Motion to Compel” to pardon Frost. The motion is a legal mechanism that the Senate exclusively holds that does not need to come from the lower Parliament and cannot be vetoed by the Prime Minister. With a simple two-thirds majority, the Senate can “compel any action deemed absolutely necessary for the security of the Alliance.” The vote was forced and passed despite the absence of 41 senators from GAIA, the Utopian Front, and the Worker’s Party. Many of these senators were targeted by extremist groups or demonstrators and expressed a fear or unwillingness to attend the vote. Prime Minister Chater was notably present during the session to vote against the measure and looked disgusted when the move passed. This would be the third time that a Motion to Compel has passed within the Alliances’ history, with the last one being in 2278 with the Senate breaking a political deadlock to authorize military force against the breakaway Coalition of Colonies, with the first in similar circumstances. In a ceremonial move the Senate Sergeant at Arms, with the Motion to Compel signed by all 55 supporting ATLAS senators, traveled with it to the Supermax prison on Venus and presented it to the Warden. Admiral Frost was then released from his cell and escorted back to a shuttle to bring him to Earth. Admiral Frost disembarked from his shuttle in Villebleue, Europe, where he was greeted by thousands of cheering supporters. Within an hour Frost entered the New Kabul Symphony Hall where he gave a live speech on galactic television. Outside the symphony hall were thousands of additional counter-demonstrators behind held back by Villebleue police. “My fellow Solarians. This nation faces a crisis like no other in its history. The lights across our great civilization continue to dim in the darkness of an uncertain future that is descending down on us. Our people live with the specter of raiders and slavers abducting them from even our capital. Our nation is throttled by corrupt politicians and selfish corporate interests. Our people are openly attacked in the streets of foreign cities for their belief in the greatness of the Alliance. Our ability to hold respect with our neighbors has been tarnished by the weak leadership of an incompetent government which invites humiliation after humiliation. Together we will warm our children in the dawn of a new day. We will not let 400 years of this Republic dissolve into anarchy and despair. Let us not forget the words that lead humanity through another great challenge. ‘We have nothing to fear but fear itself’. We will endure. We will stop the descent of darkness. We will emerge from this crisis more powerful than ever before. ” Later in his speech Frost announced he would be running for Senator of Earth in 2460. Once the speech ended Frost had already begun to travel to the United America’s to declare his intent to run. The shock of these developments has caused both pro- and anti- Frosts demonstrators to fill the streets of nearly every major city within Sol and across the Alliance. ATLAS continues to hold a de-facto chokehold on the legislative branch of government, and Prime Minister Chater remains under siege by scathing critics as he struggles to hold GAIA together. When trying to give a speech in comment to the Frost developments in Unity Station, Chater’s speech was interrupted before it even began by a crowd of protestors suddenly rising from the crowd and chanting “You are a liar!” The chamber erupted into chaos, with Chater cancelling the rest of his speech.
  16. Hey, Coalf, thanks for the feedback. To answer your questions: On building v. reforming: I think I am more of a reformer. I do not have issues with the human factions or their themes, I think the most important thing for them is for all of them to stay consistent, and each have a minimum amount of lore across the board. You can easily see that some human factions have gotten more attention then others, and while I think that may be inevitable, standards are very important. If you compare the amount of lore available for someone from the Frontier Alliance, they don't even have any named people as far as I am aware. Compare that to Elyra, where there is some information on current events, politics, culture, etc. While there is a reason for this, that the Frontier Alliance is meant to be very open ended, it should not be so open-ended it falls apart. A standard amount of thematically consistent lore should be expected for all factions. On the amount of people in the lore department: It depends, obviously. Some of it is down to the taste of the Loredev as to how he wants to handle things. Overall, however, I think it's a good thing to have more voices in the lore. If you look at humanity, for example - they are easily the most diverse, with the most factions and the most opportunities for change. Having multiple people working with it ensures that there is a healthy amount of unique thought coming in to the discussion, and ensures that they don't all blend together. On spriting: I freely admit, all of the sprites that I've created and were implemented are entirely for Dominia. I have made a smaller amount of sprites for the other human factions, though these haven't been implemented in any form as of yet. I am more then willing to sprite for any of the factions. Dominia has gotten the most love from me in this regard as they had... well, none, and they were easily the most inspiring to do at that time. However, spriting for all the human factions ties into my goals for consistent standards of a minimum amount being available. I intend to create a set amount of sprites available for each of them as Zundy has directed in the past. On faction removal: Zundy and the other loremasters are in their position for a reason. While I may not fully agree with such a move, and would probably push for a more IC removal, it's up to him. I can offer feedback, as can any other contributor, but in the end it's his and Jackboot's decision. Lore deputies aren't exactly here to make sweeping changes, we're just here to support what the species Lore dev wants done. If he thinks full-on removal of a faction is what's best, then all I can do is try to ensure that it has the best possible outcome. Sometimes, sweeping outright changes have happened in Aurora lore - be it with humanity, the Vaurca, or other parts of it. It might be inevitable, so all we can do is make the best of it and hope it turns out far better then whatever came before.
  17. Ckey/BYOND Username: AndurilFlame Position Being Applied For (coder, mapper, spriter): Human Lore Deputy Past Experiences/Knowledge: Past work includes work on various personal projects ranging from Dungeons and Dragons to fiction and other such works, especially historical ones. Examples of Past Work: I worked on the rewrite of Dominian history, as well as contributing on the Dominian great houses, military, and other parts of Empire lore. Preferred Mode of Communication (Skype, Steam, etc.): Discord, Pegasus#4965 Additional Comments: I think human lore, out of all the parts of the Aurora lore, has the most potential to be the shining gem of quality and opportunity. None of the other species can ever quite match up to the pure variety of being a human, and the lore should always reflect that. While there's plenty of different human factions and backgrounds to choose from, many of them could use more love and care - not just Tau Ceti and things closer to the station. If accepted, I would attempt to flesh out nations such as the Frontier Alliance, the Empire, Elyra, and Eridani further with lore that anyone making a character from there could use.
  18. Type:Languages, multiple Region of Space: Empire of Dominia Basic Description, Vulgar Morozi: A sub-dialect of Sol Common and Terran languages, spoken by Dominians, typically humans. This could be learned by anyone capable of speaking Sol Common. Basic Description, Sinta'Morozi: A sub-dialect of Sinta’Azaziba and Vulgar Morozi, created by the Unathi who invaded Dominia. It borrows many Morozi words and uses Azaziba grammatical structure. Basic Description, New Morozi: A purposeful mix of Vulgar Morozi and Sinta’Morozi, removing the necessity of the speaker being Human or Unathi respectively. While young, it is now being taught in nearly all cities of the Empire. Long Description, Vulgar Morozi: Vulgar Morozi is the language spoken by the average Dominian, aside from now learning Basic in addition. As Sol common had only briefly been the standard language by the time Moroz was colonized, many disparate languages from Terra were also spoken by the colonists, and after three hundred years they meshed into a distinct dialect based upon common Latin roots, a mixture of Russian and Chinese grammar, and other colloquialisms. This makes it vaguely intelligible to Sol Common speakers. Long Description, Sinta'Morozi: Sinta’Morozi is the language spoken by Unathi pirates who invaded Dominia after fleeing the Contact War. As the Unathi pirates spoke only Sinta’Azaziba and had no knowledge of Basic, their language has meshed with that present on Dominia, Vulgar Morozi. It takes phrases and colloquialisms from it while sharing some Azaziba vocabulary, and obeying Azaziba grammatical conventions. This makes it mostly intelligible to Vulgar Morozi speakers, and somewhat intelligible to Azaziba speakers. See the chart for a rough estimation of how I think they should interact, subject to change. Long Description, New Morozi: New Morozi is the product of an official effort to merge the Unathi and Human culture on Dominia even further, and to give them a common language that would be relatively easy to learn for both species. It would be written left to right, with 28 letter alphabet, of which 6 would be vowels. Depending on whether the learner was Unathi or Human, their grammar and manner of speaking could differ, leading it to have a somewhat unrefined sound. Contact Information:Pegasus#4965 on Aurora discord.
  19. BYOND Key: AndurilFlame Character name: Skalskyrr Han'San Item name: Dominian Navy Dress Coat, Dominian Navy Dress Uniform, and Dominian Commissar Cap Why is your character carrying said item to work? With Zundy's blessing, he is the Dominian naval attache to the embassy in Biesel. His job is to observe in this system and report back to the Navy - thus his works takes him around this area and surrounding systems, investigating new technology and ships. On occasion, this takes him to NanoTrasen's research station, the Aurora. The uniform, suit, and cap are the official dress of the Dominian navy. They are his standard dress while visiting facilities and conducting official business for the embassy. Item function(s): They are items of clothing. The suit can be unbuttoned. Item description: Uniform: A dress uniform worn by a member of the Dominian Imperial Navy, made of thick black material. Suit: A dress coat worn by an officer in the Dominian Imperial Navy. Cap: The distinctive cap worn by a Dominian commissar. Item appearance: How will you use this to better interact with crew and/or stimulate RP? Not many of the players are that familiar with Dominia, and there aren't that many Dominian crew on board. I see this serving to enhance the interactions I already have with the crew when I play him, to exposite on Dominia and give a unique visiting presence beyond simply people not working a shift. Although there aren't many purely visiting characters, I think this makes him unique. Additional comments: Although I play him purely in the visitor role and have no intention of changing this, it should be locked to visitor only. I have the contained sprites finished, all it requires is coding.
  20. Type: Military Organization Region of Space:X'yr Vharn'p Controlled by: Empire of Dominia Other Snapshot information: This is a proposed organization of the Imperial Navy for Dominia. While it doesn't go necessary into the actual numbers and ships, it provides a basis for future lore on this topic. Long Description: History The Empire, while a relatively young state on the galactic stage, is not a new-comer when it comes to space travel. Founded by a mixture of colonists and pirate clans, they are experienced seafarers and pirates. It became obvious to the Emperor shortly after its founding 2439 that the Empire would require a professional navy to defend itself, not just a rag-tag mixture of pirate ships and small ships possessed by the government until that point. Thus, in 2444, the Imperial Navy was created by the Emperor's decree. Founded alongside them was the Imperial Naval Academy, located on Dominia, meant to provide a professional officer corps for the navy. At its formation, the Imperial Navy was a strange mix of ships taken from pirate clans, derelicts, and those suitable purchased privately - lacking any large craft, as the facilities in the Empire were not up to the task of creating cruiser-sized ships. In 2448 the Imperial Navy Yards were established on Alterum Magnum after a rapid construction program, mostly built on the backs of serfs and forced labour overseen by House Zhao. The Imperial Navy thus was able to rely purely on itself for the construction of its navy, with contracts being awarded with private shipbuilders to use the Imperial shipyards to build the ships that would form a new, professional navy. It was in this state of relative flux that it participated in the campaign against the Corsairs of the Eternal Raid in 2449, by which time only one ship had been built - a small destroyer. The Imperial Navy managed to fight the pirate lord into a stalemate - despite infighting between various captains; some former pirates, some of the first graduates from the Academy, and some those who purchased commission in the Navy by virtue of providing a ship. The war taught many lessons - influencing ship design, tactics, and organization up until the current date. It was after the war that the command hierarchy solidified into its modern form. Following is an explanation of the organizations outlined in this image. High Lord Admiral of the Imperial Navy: The High Lord Admiral is the highest position in the Navy. He answers only to the Emperor, and is appointed by him to the position in terms of 6 years. His authority encompasses every part of the naval hierarchy, as well as powerful influence in the rewarding of naval contracts and contracts for armaments and supply. Under the auspices of his office are five main areas: the Cabinet of the Navy: The Cabinet is an integral part of the administration of the Imperial Navy alongside the Commissariate-General, handling appointments to administrative positions, finances, as well as promotion and appointment of officers. Included in this organization which are organized under the Chief Secretary are the secretaries of: Finance, Research and Development, Personnel, Naval Affairs, and Naval Acquisitions. the Admiralty Staff: The Lords of the Admiralty are responsible for actual creation and issuance of orders to the combat arm of the Imperial Navy. Under their perview is the Naval Officer Corps, now drawing its ranks from the newly founded Imperial Naval Academy. While the officers are under the control of the Admiralty, their promotion and appointment is handled by the Cabinet. The Imperial fleet is under their authority, consisting of the First Cruiser Squadron, the Interdiction Squadron, and the Reserve Fleet. The First Cruiser Squadron is the professional core of the Navy, composed purely of new ships constructed in the Imperial shipyards, including new ships of a battlecruiser design. The Interdiction Squadron calls back to the pirate roots of the Navy - it is the quasi-legal privateering arm of the Navy, commanded by an Admiral of the Kazkhz house. The Reserve Fleet is the training branch of the Imperial Fleet, and is composed mainly of older ships now outmoded, and is responsible for the training of naval personnel and crewmen. the Commissariate-General: Appointed by the Emperor, advised by the High Lord Admiral. He oversees the Commissariate, which is broken into two main areas. These organizations are responsible for maintaining a level of professionalism and efficiency among the Navy, auditing expenditures and personnel to ensure that regulations are observed and followed. Under the Commissarriate-General's perview is the Commissariate of Ships, responsible for the inspection of the ships of the Navy, and the Commissariate of Supply, responsible for the logistical areas of all parts of the Naval structure as well as the Legions Marinus. The inspectors, or Commissars, are known for their distinct peaked caps. the Primus Marinus: Appointed by the Emperor, advised by the High Lord Admiral and High Lord General. The Primus Marinus is the leader of the Legions Marinus, the naval Legions responsible for providing marine detachments on every ship in the Imperial Fleet. Currently, there are nine Legions Marinus, all under his command. Despite being placed upon naval vessels, they are only nominally under command of the ships' captains, maintaining their own power structure. This has caused friction between the two branches of the Imperial Navy. Their organization is a mirror of the Army's legions, with slightly different ranks to mirror their different role. The smallest form they operate in is the Cohort Marinus, a group of one-hundred marines led by a commander. These men are not only responsible for on-ship duties, as they also guard all Imperial naval facilities. The officer ranks of these units are drawn from both the Imperial Naval Academy and the Army, at the discretion of the Primus Marinus - something that has caused more friction between the two branches. the Imperial Naval Academy: Chaired by an Admiral appointed by the High Lord Admiral in terms of eight years, this newly founded academy is responsible for the training of naval cadets, and from their ranks does the Navy take officer candidates. It teaches tactics, seamanship, and all parts of an officer candidate's education as mandated by the Cabinet of the Navy's Secretary of Personnel. I have done my best to give a realistic outline for a navy for Dominia, and any critique on this suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
  21. BYOND Key: AndurilFlame Character Names: Freya Fiejelsyiane, Sjofn Myrower Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Black. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: I have, yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Of all the foreign races of the server, the Unathi interest me most. They hold honor in high regard; they’re one of the last ‘warrior-cultures,’ or what passes for one in the 25th century. Their remarkably quick advance from essentially 21st century technology to that of the 25th century brings conflict to many Unathi, which still struggle between the feudal, honor-based system and that of the increasingly autocratic Hegemony, which pushes rapid technological advancement. Their physical structure, which lends itself to brute force and reliance upon strength, provides a completely different style compared to the characters I normally play. I find the lore behind them fascinating, especially the fact that nearly all adults have been affected by the Contact War in some way. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: While Unathi experience the same emotions as humans, their physical cues are quite different. Where a human would rub their hands in irritation, an Unathi thumps their tail. They do everything from hiss, bark and chuff, things a human cannot. (unless they’re furries, I guess,) Their history and traditions also influence common actions: where a human would draw a firearm, many Unathi would simply go to close-quarters, where a human would be shocked by a friend's death, many Unathi would revel in an honorable death. Your interactions with other races, women, authority, and crew members in general are viewed through the conservative lense of an Unathi upbringing, especially among those hailing from Moghes. Character Name: Talikhi Halzresi Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs The younger of two brothers born to a middle-class landowner, Talkhi Halzresi takes pride in his clan’s heritage, though it is humble compared to the great Lords. The Halzresi clan, as long as any record shows, has inhabited a modest sum of land on the fringe of what is now known as the Untouched Lands, where he was born in 2427. Like many Unathi, he spent his childhood in the practice of arms, being taught alongside his elder brother by his father. He took to riding and caring for threshbeasts, which gave him a love for the animals, to the point of shunning the use of vehicles later in life for the creatures. Though his father was sympathetic to the cause of the Traditionalists, he remained loyal to the Izweski Hegemony during the Contact War - instilling in his son that one's word is his bond, even if he does not like it. While his father and elder brother fought in the war, at the best of his father Talikhi instead attended a prominent military academy where he studied to become a combat engineer. By the time of his graduation, the Contact War had ended. With war over, the planet devastated, and the military of the Hegemony reduced to a shell of its former self, he spent several years doing little other then idly waiting for the occasional patrol into the Wastelands. In this time, he grew weary of the lack of opportunities in the military, feeling he was wasting his education and youth watching his homeworld deteriorate around him. As his time with the Izweski military ended, he rejoiced - finally, he could once again pursue the goal of 'doing something with his life.' To his disappointment upon returning home, he found little to do aside from what he had done in the army: sit around, and do little more then assist in caring for the family's land, and he found little joy in anything aside from caring for his beloved threshbeast. After several months, it became clear to him that the his life was unlikely to become more exciting with him merely sitting at home, and he journeyed to Skalamar in search of opportunity. Though he was somewhat apprehensive of a contract that could simply waste more years of his life, he accepted a lucrative offer from the mega-corporation NanoTrasen to serve in the relatively distant Tau Ceti system. He saw it as a chance to learn more about other races that he was unfamiliar with and put his skills to good use, not only for the sake of personal advancement, but also to show his father that his upbringing was not wasted on him. What do you like about this character? He’s an archetypical Unathi – conservative, upset by the ruin brought to his homeworld by the Hegemony. He wants to find a place to excel in life, even if it doesn't bring fame and fortune. He's unfamiliar with other races as a whole, his main introduction being when he was first contacted by NanoTrasen, and he is eager to learn more about them and their customs. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I think my roleplaying abilities are acceptable, though I find rating my own ability diffcult. Like everyone else, I wish to improve in any area I can. Notes: If his backstory is vague and lacking details, he's the first character I've created in a long time and will gladly take any critique offered.
