Can someone explain to me why we try to resuscitate this forsaken Phoron scarcity topic for literal years now, in which it just has not worked as a plot device, instead of just moving on and doing something actual meaningful with our time? For once I am not even trying to play the devil's advocate here but just take a step back and look at the entire Phoron scarcity topic from a distance and to evaluate and maybe admit that it just does not work for as a lot of time that passed has shown. Maybe just tick it off and move on with something....else.

Oh wow. I never seen these images. I guess both Port Antilla and Unathi lore pages are ones I haven't looked at in quite some time. I agree with most statements here. These images don't even look good. They should be removed because they add nothing and are actually detrimental to the pages itself and I think most would agree when presented with these images outside of the context of the wiki pages. I guess it can be frustrating for lore writers to seek out, coordinate and wait for proper artworks (no matter if paid or offered for free), but these AI images don't really do our server justice. Especially looking at Port Antilla, there are enough (free to use) images/art creations out there that depict tropical islands/beaches/etc. There is literally no need to use a bad AI model for pictures like these. Thus, I agree that they should be removed and maybe an internal talk by the lore writers on how to proceed or how to handle this topic in the future should be held.

After giving it some thought I agree with basically everything here. I think this would all enhance gameplay and immersion. Especially the maintenance tunnels need to be grimier and resemblence maintenance tunnels more. However, such a refit would take a considerable time in dock. Maybe we need to SKIP some time until the Horizon's refit is. 😰

Origins Addition: The Rings of Saturn
KingOfThePing posted a topic in Lore Canonization Applications
Lore Impact: Medium Species: Human Short Description: Introducing Saturn and two of its many moons into the lore and as lore origins. How will this be reflected on-station?: Characters can utilize the origin and accent that are being added into the game and obviously talk about it. Does this addition do anything not achieved by what already exists?: Yes, Saturn has no lore right now. Do you understand that the project may change over time in ways you may not foresee once it is handed over to the Lore Team?: Yes Long Description: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1f3MoZ1eJfYFJKPX1ifmEZ4hmyg61HQ2CXdzDyP8ESLg/edit?usp=sharing- 1 reply

accepted maxspells command app
KingOfThePing replied to maxspells's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I support this application, because I think max plays very enjoyable, even if sometimes a bit unusual characters, that are interesting. I have no reason to believe the he wouldnt apply this ability to command characters. -
All non engineering personnel dies by a shaped charge in the cover. Also, I forgot to post the updated sprites (the redacted ones are a surprise tool that will help us later):
-
Good evening, everyone. With a moderate delay of around 22 months this project is coming to fruition. The sprites have been re-done and this is currently the WIP state of the panels. They will be getting ambient/interacting sounds and the code will get finishing touches. The rest like the descriptions and functionality is mostly done. Should be done tomorrow or so. 2025-01-04_19-54-36.mp4

Minor Ganymede expansion / tweaking.
KingOfThePing replied to Shimmer's topic in Lore Canonization Applications Archive
Really good stuff. Like it. -
How strange that most people dont seem to be able to do that, then

Needs to have a chance to give the message like "your food is piping hot, but only the very center. The rest is stone cold." Great suggestion.
-
No, but as I said, Atteria offered to help with a glow up.
-
I propose this again: I have the necessary sprites (as shown in the thread and even 3 more) though they would need some glow-up. @atteria offered to help with this a while back. I'll see if she is still down to help.

Hi, don't get discouraged, Tajara lore is a lot to take in. I also dont think you have to completely re-think your character or anything. It's just that you probably mixed the timeline up a bit and didn't see some stuff (because some can be a bit hard to find if you dont know on what page to look for, like the arranged marriage stuff). I am also not even part of the lore team, so you could just ignore what I wrote entirely....it was meant more as a "hey, X or Y doesn't line up with some stuff, you maybe have to think about it again".

[Denied] Evandorf - CCIA Application
KingOfThePing replied to Evandorf's topic in Moderator Applications Archives
Interview: https://pastebin.com/NpN1SvHt -
Hi. I don't know you or your characters so these questions/this feedback is based purely on the application itself. I have some questions about the backstory of Mikha, because it's honestly a bit short and confused me a bit. Let's go and start chronologically: You write that Mikha's "childhood was split between the teachings of her village and those of her Hadiist education, which she was never particularly apt. at". Why is that so? Following the First Revolution, sparked by most of the population being extremely dissatisfied with the monarchs the population rose up - Trizar and its surrounding areas especially were points of origins of the Revolution. They actively coup'd and began fighting. At the end, most if not all rebel groups actively joined the Hadii dynasty, which formed the PRA. Thus, her parents were probably followers of Hadii, since they were liberated by/with them from their monarch oppression. This means Mikha should be following hadiist teachins, since she never knew anything else, unless there was another reason not to you didn't provide. "[S]he would be [...] praised by her traditionalist family". Why would they? Were the opposed to the First Revolution? They would have had an extremely hard time to be pro-monarchist, considering where they lived. "[H]er life turned harsh as the area became embroiled in the war." Could you tell a bit more on how it became harsh? Harsh due to the DPRA or the PRA? How did it actually affect her? Did relatives die, was the village destroyed? Given, Mikha was only ~5-6 years old when the war started, yet children can be very affected by war, especially mentally. You write a tiny bit on how life became unsustainable in the village because they aligned with the Almarist forces (Mikha and her family, too?) but it leaves pretty much everything open. The entire next paragraph is a bit confusing because you dont give any hint of a timeline - Mikha was born in 2444, the war started in 2449, at which point they were still around Trizar. "Later" life there became unsustainable and they moved away to Mezuma. When did this happen? I ask this because in 2458 Trizar was already in firm hand of the PRA, so I must assume they moved way beforehand. So maybe in like, 2452-54? Mikha is ~10 at this time but she was already working in a mine, near Mezuma. Why? And if she really worked ten years old in a mine, how did it affect her? You also mention that she "found herself slowly acclimating to the difficult reality of urban life during the war". Why is that? Mezuma was never directly besieged or changed hands, it was/is no major industrial hub and all in all (as far as lore gives) was probably never much fought for. What made her life difficult there? In the next paragraph you write "[...]among other things, arranging marriages with acquainted families. Rhan’mirri was included in these but refused hers. As a result, she was exiled from her clan [...]". I find this a bit strange, because arranged marriages basically ceased to exist, following the First Revolution (so around 15+ years before Mikha was born). This was a universal development and thus I find it strange that she would be exiled for refusing an arranged marriage like 30 years after they were a thing. She left Adhomai via Ha'rron - making her an illegal immigrant in Tau Ceti. How did she manage to pull this off? Did it affect her, when she arrived? How did she find a job in a megacorp as an illegal immigrant? You don't say anything about her faith - what religion does she follow? Why? Did it help her through hard times, etc. These were some things that I noticed after reading through your backstory once. I'll read it again tomorrow to see if I missed something. Looking forward to hear from you.

Colfer - Command Application
KingOfThePing replied to Colfer's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Then you are contradicting yourself, just as you did in OOC on the server. Matriach Drones are not command. Neither by definition or otherwise. Consulars are also behind a command WL, yet you still cannot apply with them. Don't make applications for roles you have no intention to play in the first place. -

If you do not want to play command, then this application is pointless and I cannot support it. -1 -

Return Loyalty Implants as a CCIA Action
KingOfThePing replied to Butterrobber202's topic in Suggestions & Ideas
Loyality implants were pretty bad and simply not fun, that's why they were removed. Why would they be good to bring them back unchanged now? -
I think removing the upper limit for hunger (so you can keep on eating) would be good, since it is also removed for drinking.

Well, obviously I don't agree entirely. Yes, coffee brewing mechanics would be great (I worked on that idea with Vrow before he sadly left) but a moka pot and manual grinder are not tools you would use in a cafe. Maybe get one of those commercial espresso machines: A special automatic grinder (with different settings) instead. Even a filter machine like a Mr. Coffee even maybe. These two items are purposefully old (I'd even say antiquated) and more or less collector's items. It would make little sense for a commercial enviroment to use them.
