The existing one - Old Ya'ssa. It's not meant as a replacement for Old Ya'ssa, but an expansion on the accent in general. Maybe should have made that more clear. I also didn't want to say that Old Ya'ssa is a bad accent, even if I am quite critical about it in this post. It's just not feasible for most, if not almost all characters, and this is my attempt to fix this., I am also not dead-set on the names and/or descriptions on the accents, obviously.

Lore Impact (Small/Medium/Large): Medium Species: Tajara Short Description: Adding an accent to Ya'ssa, so it requires less mental gymnastics to use a Ya'ssa accent. How will this be reflected on-station?: Tajara with an appropiate background can select an accent for an otherwise de-facto dead language. Does this addition do anything not achieved by what already exists?: Yes Do you understand that the project may change over time in ways you may not foresee once it is handed over to the Lore Team? Yes Long Description: An excerpt from the wiki ( Wiki Languages Page ) We can deduct from this excerpt, that modern day (New Kingdom) Tajara have a reason to speak Ya'ssa. Especially the quasi re-instated nobility from the NKA would have an interest in reviving (quote from the excerpt) language, to be more commonly used by the nobility, if it was only to differentiate themselves from the common folk. According to the wiki this revival happened, yet the only Ya'ssa accent represented and possible to select is the following: Playing a normal Tajara, selecting this accent requires insane mental gymanastics, unbelievable backstories, insane justification or a combination of that. There exists a single character that has a believable justification to use this accent. This makes it a de-facto dead accent, if it cannot resonably be used by a character. Thus I propose to introduce a logical, lore-friendly and sensible way to be able to have Ya'ssa accents. In my mind there are two possibilities. An accent that older nobility Tajara tried to adopt during/after the Second Revolution and an accent that younger noble Tajara (or applicable Tajara) would have learned in school "from the ground up". Meaning: one is an "imitation" accent for older Tajara and one is a "proper" one for younger Tajara to pick from. "Rejuvenized Ya'ssa: After the Second Revolution, the newly seceded New Kingdom of Adhomai did it's best to revitalize it's old language of the nobility. Taught to young and aspiring nobles, this accent tries to replicate the long, drawn-out sentences, from traditional Ya'ssa, with a reduced set of rules to ease learning the language." "New Ya'ssa: Born out of the Second Revolution, nobles all over the New Kingdom tried to bring back and revive the language of Old, with varying success. Less complex sentences and often plagued by intonation problems, depending from which accent was tried to learn away, this accent of Ya'ssa is often spoken by nobles who are in their best years, trying to mask away whatever language or accent they had to adopt before."

Didnt like the remap at first, I like the latest iteration a lot more now. It was not usable, it was a broken one on purpose.

Never have I mentioned testmerges on my reply in any way?
-
That is relative. If others don't give feedback or are just indifferent then I cannot take it into account, since I cannot read people's mind. If people take their time to line out their problems here then you should take take this criticism serious, even if it is "just three or four people". The reality is that most either don't care or don't have a forum account or both.
-
Then the PR should habe had a DNM or Maintainer discussion label, both have been applied for less in the past. Since apparently a lot of people are unhappy in general, a lot of oversights are/were present and the re-map in general was not well received there should have been a longer feedback thread or maybe the PR should have been a WIP PR instead

Then swap the layout. Put the useless toilets at the diagonal or whatever, something that has no real purpose anyway besides from existing
-
Mirror the warden office / entrance on top, remove the useless maintenance tunnel and give the warden office a door to the communal area entrance back again. No need to have the warden office as much out of the way as possible (as the hos office was in your earlier rendition) except if you want to kill any interactivity with anyone the role had beforehand

Feel free to open a complaint, then. It does bring something to the table: not breaking the rules takes away the entire basis of the complaints. I could also say that suggesting to do favouritism regarding rule enforcing doesnt bring anything to the table. I dont know why you would think this is an "inflammatory remark" because I am 100% serious. Read the rules and dont break them. If you think the wording of of rules should be altered or changed, open a policy suggestion. If suggesting to abide to existing rules everyone else follows is a "facepalm-inducing response" then I am not sure what else to tell you. De-facto I am saying the same thing as Alberyk - just because I dont sugar-coat it and have a yellow instead of a red username doesn't change the message.
-
I legit can't say anything else than that you could've just not broken the rules. It's that easy. I approach my 6th year on Aurora and somehow managed to not get banned. Crazy, isn't it.
-
The rules are clear and are binding to everyone equally. I dont know what else to tell you. It is not up for discussion. They exist for a reason and if you start with individual favouritism then the system breaks apart. It is even specifically, clearly written, that intent does not matter when it comes to bug abuse.

First I'd like to know why you think you have to post on someone's behalf - the person is not forum banned and can speak for themselves. Other than that I will only talk about one of your points which is: All I say is that we all play by the same rules here and if "interested in confirming to the rules" boils down to 2 permabans within a month then maybe the person is the problem. Others (like myself) play here for years upon years without as much as a warning and a handful of notes. I am not the most approachable person and never was but I able to raad and understand rules that are written down in a clear and understandable way. You also only have your own view and administration has the bigger picture. Sometimes the rules aren't the problem, but the people who can't follow them. Bans and appeals are no bargain - they are a punishment and should feel like it.

Clarify Machinist's Role In Relation To Medical Work
KingOfThePing replied to EJJ's topic in Archive
The funny thing is that, according to the meme chart, a surgeon can do everything a machinist can do. So why even have them in the first place 😃 -
Hi. I dont know you or your characters, so I cannot say anything about your roleplaying abilites, but I do know Tajara lore and your backstory is pretty lacking and doesn't really touch on any important topic, besides the first and second revolution, very briefly. You say that you are "fully aware of the lore", but you do not really show that here. So I have quite a lot of questions about your character. Let's start: Azhal is a Zhan and was born in 2431. Where was he born and why was he "living it rough" during the Second Revolution because of the "exporting from the corporations"? Why did this affect him? "He found himself unable to necessarily think about the revolutions [...]", can you explain to me what this means? What and why could he not think about the revolution? How did the revolution even affect him or his family? He moved away from his parents, where did he move to? What "[...] local business [...] that denied selling goods to corporations" did he work for? Hadii encouraged the trade with the megacorps and I think it would have been very difficult for a business to openly reject doing this. What did they sell and how did working there affect Azhal? How did the laws introduced to discriminate Zhan affect Azhal? It pushed him to join the ALA, after all. When and how did he join anyway? What did he do during the war? He was a mechanic, but that didn't mean the war did not affect him. What does he think of the DPRA and how has his service in the ALA affected his views? What do you mean with "Azhal was finally able to advance his intelligence"? Did he get some education? Which one? The ALA back then was not very much into robots and technologically advanced, why did Hephaestus chose him of all people? How did losing his arm affect his personality and relations with robotics and robots? He must know, that even when working away from Adhomai that he must encounter other Tajara of other ideologies. You say he would rather not experience more conflict with other Tajara, yet this is unrealistic. How does he cope with that? What religion does he follow and why? Thats all I can think of for now.

Well, you just re-iterated that you want to circumvent the job accessibility stuff with this, so don't play a mute character then
