  1. Two consulars are very much reasonable, considering there are many factions that can be represented and present through the crew.
  2. I will not waste my lifetime by logscraping months of discord discussions - I got better things to do, to be honest here. Everyone can read them up, if they wish to do so, they are on the discord for everyone to look up. I will also not start one of these "discussions" with you here. I have said my piece and you should accept it. Dissect it all you want, that will not change my opinion (quite the opposite, really since you do what I criticized). All I add is, that seeing how you argue "but I did change my mind!" without even acknowledging that it was because you were outright told it will not be merged like this is absolutely meaningless, because it is a forced "change of mind" upon you (since you dont seem to understand any argument) and not reached through discourses. You can feel that bringing up an example that is 24 hours old can be "icky", I find it very telling, since it was not 24 hours of you posting the feedback thread and then not engaging with the discussion but already "arguing" it almost to death within 24 hours. I have said all I felt needed to be said here.
  3. I have not commented on this thread until now because I thought that maybe I am neither qualified enough nor does it matter what I have to say since I am only a small contributor but I have changed my mind on this. tl;dr I would not want to see you on the dev team and have any say in the direction Aurora goes, especially from a design decision aspect because while you are clearly technical versed (as can be seen in the PRs) it is absolutely terrible and pointless to discuss anything with you that is not 100% congruent with your own views and opinions. The long version is that it seems that you (and another person) have made it their personal project to port as much shit from /tg/ and Bay to Aurora (hence, partially where the haha rebase to bay memes come from lately) no matter if it's beneficial to the server. Most of the time it's something like "it's better, bro", no matter if it fits our setting, our playstyle or if it is actually better and needed as an addition. Obviously you have added technial things that are beneficial to the server and server performance but I am not talking about these. And even if I would ignore this all, it is not my main problem. A developer has to be open to feedback and criticism and that is something you absolutely, 100%, without a doubt are unable to. It is literally pointless to get into a discussion with you about anything because you are unable to participate in a discussion on a meaningful level. This is not an attack against you this is what I (and many others) have noticed since you joined the server. The Ion Law Thread is the most recent evidence of this, which also happened on the forums so it can be seen better than on Discord. You do not engage in discussions, you just argue without substance as long as you need until the other parties just give up, mostly because you do not deviate from your point of view, not even an inch and just continue to repeat your already stated opinion, with different words. You dont even care who it is, or if someone says "you have to change X, it will not be merged like this" from admin(s). You still argue against this without any actual arguments.Again, the Ion law thread is the perfect (because on the forums and recently/ongoing discussion) example. Another example is when you only just joined the server, where I still vividly remember how multiple people had to explain to you why it is not a cool and good thing to add giant "Z" decals to the floors of the ship. Even without the political implications this was just not a well received idea, yet the discussion dragged on for hours, if not days if I recall it correctly. There are many other examples, which can be extracted from the code dungeon, for example. I was just giving the first and last example to show that this has been an ongoing thing and not a one-off occurance.
  4. You are using extreme examples to describe rules that have to apply for a wide range of situations. Obviously they have to be interpreted, according to the situation at hand because otherwise you would have to write down every possible situation and how the rule(s) apply in it, which is impossible. You are overreacting to something I guess. The rules are fine as is and 99.99% of people are aware that general rules have to be applied to many different situations and thus cannot effectively cover every and any situation that might occur in direct wording.
  5. Well, then the wiki makes little sense or basic genetics are being thrown overboard, I guess since the genes for the white and black fur must come from somewhere. The wiki states: That's really the only thing that's being said abou calico coloured Tajara and it's pretty lacking, so if people apply with this they cannot be blamed. Anyway, this does not really disqualify the discrimination that were probably faced. It's out of the ordinary and not uniform - something the PRA really does not like, at least that is what I thought with what the PRA represented. But we can just wait for a lore dev to clear it up, because with many niche things, this specific thing is not explained on the wiki so people cannot reasonably know about this. It should be obvious that I am wrong with this, mixed something up or just took headcanon for being on the wiki.
  6. The story is alright but there are definitive beats that gave me some questions: Malika is calico coloured and a pure Hharar. As far as I know this is almost not possible. There are only two options this can be: either one of the parents must have been a non-hharar, probably a Zhan, since no Hharar colouring gives the genes to result in calico pattern or her mother was also calico patterned, which is very, very rare to occur naturally (read: without cross-breeding). Resulting in this Malika is most likely a cross-breed, and thus she would absolutely, definitely faced harrassment and discrimination in the PRA - inherited from her mother and probably the rest of the family as well. Even if you say that she is not a cross-breed she would have faced difficulties because of her fur colour in the PRA. This gives me the question /why/ Malika would have been as zealous for the PRA as you write she was. The foundation of the story is basically that she was a prime citizen and politically active from the youth on - which would have been borderline impossible, due to the problem I stated in the point before this. This also results in me finding it hard to believe that she would get into a) an officer program and b) into the basically top of the line, special of the special Kosmostrelki. Kosmostrelki are the best troops, both trained and euipped, that the PRA has, not only in the Air Force but in general. Even if we ignore this all I'd like to know why she wanted to leave Adhomai and the PRA, when she liked it so much? For the money? Did she finish her degree or was that thrown completely overboard after a while? What does she think of the SCC in general? Some Tajara believe they are only on Adhomai to exploit their resources, does she think that, too? You say her parents very "devout" followers of S'rand'marr so I assume this shaped her in some way, especially early in her life? How? I'll see if I have more questions tomorrow.
  7. These new ion laws are bad. I don't want to see them added.
  8. You kind of missed the point. This is like saying "Sol Common already has X accents it doesn't need more", yet when lore exists that permits the existance of a new accent a new accent gets added. Languages and accents are kind of only losely connected. A language gives the framework of accents to be added. Factually yes, you can take the ya'ssa accent and no one, except lore aspects prevents you from doing so. Yet this is not what this application is about at all.
  9. Sad that it had to go, but this is a better solution and a straight upgrade. Like it
  10. Since "Assistants" are inheritly useless in our setting and dont really have a reason to exist, giving it alt-title at all (not only the ones suggested) would give the role an actual purpose, so I am all for it.
  11. I agree with gem if it has to be remapped then I agree with limette.
  12. You just have to keep pulling upstream and merge master onto your PR and then checking if any tiles were fucked.
  13. The engineering panels in question:
  14. It will be in the OOC/extended description of them.
  15. I'll work together with kyres (sprites) for this project and go ahead on it next week.
  16. Hello, I come with a proposal, that I have voiced some weeks ago on Discord and before I put some work into it and acquire sprites I want to gauge general interest and feedback regarding it. It is the following: This is what I initially wrote on Discord. To sum it up: - Maintenance panels you can open and close. - Different sizes, shapes, forms and contents on floors and walls. - Placed in frequented and less frequented places around the ship. - Interactible with different engineering tools. - Great fun RP for anyone. - Excuse to go around the ship for engineers (or antags holy shit). The initial reception to this was good, but I wanted more input. That's all. Attached is an actualy Heph engineer performing !!! Maintenance !!! on a maintenance access panel on the SCCV Horizon holy shit!
  17. That's fine by me. The initial idea was just to differentiate between a quasi "fake" Ya'ssa accent and one learned from the ground up. Maybe instead the Old Ya'ssa accent can be re-written to have less restrictions on who it can take. For example young nobles who got to learn the "proper" Old Ya'ssa during eduction or something similar as well.
  18. The existing one - Old Ya'ssa. It's not meant as a replacement for Old Ya'ssa, but an expansion on the accent in general. Maybe should have made that more clear. I also didn't want to say that Old Ya'ssa is a bad accent, even if I am quite critical about it in this post. It's just not feasible for most, if not almost all characters, and this is my attempt to fix this., I am also not dead-set on the names and/or descriptions on the accents, obviously.
  19. Lore Impact (Small/Medium/Large): Medium Species: Tajara Short Description: Adding an accent to Ya'ssa, so it requires less mental gymnastics to use a Ya'ssa accent. How will this be reflected on-station?: Tajara with an appropiate background can select an accent for an otherwise de-facto dead language. Does this addition do anything not achieved by what already exists?: Yes Do you understand that the project may change over time in ways you may not foresee once it is handed over to the Lore Team? Yes Long Description: An excerpt from the wiki ( Wiki Languages Page ) We can deduct from this excerpt, that modern day (New Kingdom) Tajara have a reason to speak Ya'ssa. Especially the quasi re-instated nobility from the NKA would have an interest in reviving (quote from the excerpt) language, to be more commonly used by the nobility, if it was only to differentiate themselves from the common folk. According to the wiki this revival happened, yet the only Ya'ssa accent represented and possible to select is the following: Playing a normal Tajara, selecting this accent requires insane mental gymanastics, unbelievable backstories, insane justification or a combination of that. There exists a single character that has a believable justification to use this accent. This makes it a de-facto dead accent, if it cannot resonably be used by a character. Thus I propose to introduce a logical, lore-friendly and sensible way to be able to have Ya'ssa accents. In my mind there are two possibilities. An accent that older nobility Tajara tried to adopt during/after the Second Revolution and an accent that younger noble Tajara (or applicable Tajara) would have learned in school "from the ground up". Meaning: one is an "imitation" accent for older Tajara and one is a "proper" one for younger Tajara to pick from. "Rejuvenized Ya'ssa: After the Second Revolution, the newly seceded New Kingdom of Adhomai did it's best to revitalize it's old language of the nobility. Taught to young and aspiring nobles, this accent tries to replicate the long, drawn-out sentences, from traditional Ya'ssa, with a reduced set of rules to ease learning the language." "New Ya'ssa: Born out of the Second Revolution, nobles all over the New Kingdom tried to bring back and revive the language of Old, with varying success. Less complex sentences and often plagued by intonation problems, depending from which accent was tried to learn away, this accent of Ya'ssa is often spoken by nobles who are in their best years, trying to mask away whatever language or accent they had to adopt before."
