I just removed the whitelisting from matriarch drone; tell me if it works. That said, the ruling on this isn't changing - we don't want people applying for command just to play drone.

Sensors have been added back to all clothes.

Voting for dismissal - this underestimates the fact that hunger and thirst are something that actually drives people to go to the bar or kitchen.

Staff Guidelines Administration The staff team as a whole is under the purview of the Head staff, typically made up by the Head Developers and two Head Admins. CCIA and Moderation staff fall under the Head Admins, whereas the Development team, Wiki Maintainers and Lore staff fall under the Head Developers. All resignations must take place by going to the relevant staff head. Staff applications must be up for at least seven days before being accepted. General Code of Conduct Breaches of the guidelines will result in action being taken against the staff member by either the relevant head staff or the moderation team, depending on the entity and severity of the breach in question. You are expected to be an example for the community and to generally be on your best attitude. Observing decorum, whether in public or debating fellow team members in staff channels or private messages, is a requirement for continued participation in the staff team. Being banned on the game server, on the Forums, or on Discord will lead to your staff status being immediately stripped, whatever it may be. It is possible for your staff status to also be removed without a ban if it is found to be appropriate by the Head staff. Similarly, racking up a high amount of official warnings will also lead to a review of your staff position. Some teams, such as the Lore team, have their own internal warnings system, which may only be used for internal issues relating to misuse of staff powers or disciplinary problems inside of the staff discord. Disciplinary issues on the game server, on the Forums, or on Discord fall strictly under the purview of the moderation team. You are expected to be reasonably active. How active depends largely on the position, and this is outlined in the department in question’s guidelines, but totally ghosting your department will generally result in your removal from staff. Each staff team has its own guidelines that can be found on the wiki. You must follow those guidelines as well.

I talked with some other staff about this situation and I've taken the decision not to unban you. I simply don't believe you, particularly so when you showed up with that name with zero connections to the server.
-
Well, this is the problem. You say you were sporting the name of your favourite book author, and that would be fine, if not for the fact that you willingly and knowingly added albeit next to it to look like "arbeit macht frei". What I am actually wondering is why you added that part to the name at all, given that "albeit max frei" would raise eyebrows for anyone that knows basic second world war history.

I have to ask why you set your Discord name to "albeit max frei" and then said that your name is from "your favourite book author" in this case.

OurLordSpungus Player Complaint
MattAtlas replied to SatinsPristOTD's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
I played the CMO during this round and this is a fear I don't really understand. At round end I was defending you - Cordia said in command comms that she wanted to IR you, and despite my character being the biggest Fisanduhian hater in the known universe I told her that she shouldn't do that since it seemed that whatever happened was caused by a PTSD episode. My intention was to figure out what happened IC fully (because I didn't really have a handle on everything, the party and the pharmacist thing made everything very confusing and nobody was really talking to me about any of it) and then go from there, because I don't really like when IRs are made over things like this. With that said, reading over what the OP said, it makes sense to me to IR your character or seek an extreme remedy like going to a consular. The thing is that when you keep doing things that annoy people like this, their response will always get worse because you're fundamentally irritating them. I'm 100% sure that if there wasn't such a vast precedent with your characters, Bassett likely wouldn't even have come up, nor would an IR have been considered. -
Unban Request for ban taken place in 2020-09-04 : TriCorp/WareZ
MattAtlas replied to WareZ's topic in Unban Requests Archive
You have three permabans, sorry but you have been given too many chances. You will never be unbanned here. -
Some people here have gotten the wrong idea about why this PR wasn't merged for so long. I'm seeing some very farfetched theories (that we waited on purpose?). What actually happened is that most of the maintainer team is often really busy and we handle PRs in bulk. There were 12 maintainer discussion PRs yesterday with some made even a year ago, with all of them being handled at once yesterday (the git log is proof of this). It is really just bad faith to claim that we were "avoiding community feedback" when in reality this is just us taking a long time to handle these things due to real life.

One thing is confusing me, what does "If the INDRA exploded due to sabotage, it wouldn't be on a small, isolated corner" mean? The INDRA does not have variable explosion sizes, it always explodes the same way and with the same radius.

While I understand the point of what you're saying, the all caps in certain parts is pretty unnecessary and only makes what you're saying come off as either passive aggressive, or more noise than argument. That said, I do agree that removing them from non-work uniforms is kind of bad in hindsight. I wouldn't be opposed to them being readded.

You are ban evading. No.

I'll take a look at this tomorrow since I caused quite a few of these with tgui

2 dismissals Give Atmospheric Technicians insulated gloves again
MattAtlas replied to hazelmouse's topic in Archive
I had a reply written up but this is the last drop of water. Three years of work for this server, months and days of my life spent working on shit like TGUI and brainmed, working with people for feedback, only to get to hear something as wonderful as "it's okay to ignore maintainers maliciously and you should do it" over insulated fucking gloves. I don't even know what to say honestly. -

MattAtlas replied to hazelmouse's topic in Archive
Voting for dismissal for the same reasons as last time. This was already discussed by maintainers and I don't expect the judgement to change. -
Some IRL stuff prevented me from answering for a while but this will be the last post on the matter. A month isn't really that much time, no. We've seen people generally appeal and end up being the same after a year or more of being banned. We're familiar with the times it takes and, while we don't necessarily think you're lying, it's up to us to judge how much someone should be out for. This alone confirms to me that you have not, in fact, changed. Getting upset at your appeal being rejected and calling staff powertrippers is not proof of improvement. No action will be taken and the appeal restriction will stand.

I'm going to limit what I say on the argument to one, maybe two posts because I think the discourse around Medical is so toxic and demotivating that it makes me want to revert brainmed and bring the server back to the stone age because of the sheer level of regret I have over contributing anything to this set of players. The level of shit I've gotten over a simple change (that I genuinely believe in, mind) is absolutely mindboggling and frankly unthinkable - if it were a contributor on my end I'm pretty sure they'd have quit the community already. But let's get on with it. This being used as an argument to keep sensors as they are is emblematic of the entire problem I have with medical as it is. It's a department where one mistake gets you crucified (before anyone says otherwise, this happened to me just a week ago and I had to delete a character over it, I adminhelped it and was told it was an IC issue - oh well!), where not having a window open on the right side of your monitor is seen as a bad thing because you need to be ready 24/7, where powergaming is the expectation rather than a rulebreak (how many people used the medkit exploit? that's right, most of them) and where toxicity is justified because otherwise the department would be nerfed. Oh, and it's also the only department where a nerf gets you accused of wanting to "humble" medical players or of "making spite PRs" or generally being clueless. Or, apparently as I'm seeing right now, the argument is so heated that it justifies calling one of my contributions "asinine and stupid". What people fundamentally miss is that you don't get out of this situation where not powergaming gets you abused by just ignoring it and keeping it as is. Sensors being nerfed is part of the work needed to do that. But other than that, I think they're unnecessarily limiting for antagonists and I've always held the idea that they run completely counter to the base of SS13, which is an action horror game - where's the horror part of it if you know where everyone is? Sure, everyone talks about "you need to be prepared" or "just make a radio jammer" but I'd like any of you to tell me out of the blue how to make one. That's pretty niche knowledge that 99% of the server simply doesn't have memorized. It feels like a gigantic noob trab - why should someone have to throw away their first round just to then know how to make something that counters sensors? I don't agree with that line of thought. Maybe other people do, but for a long time we've done nothing but ignore the problem of antags having zero space to operate in.

I asked for their reasoning and it's pretty objective - you just racked up too many notes in too short of a time, so it's not "just a mistake" that's keeping you banned. There's no real reason to think you'd improve only a month after. When we unban someone we generally want to be fairly certain that we don't have to permaban them again.
