Both bans lifted, and the mirrors should be deactivated. If you're snagged by something when you try to connect, please reply here or PM me.

Bans lifted 14APR2016. If you're being caught by some adminbot bans or mirrors, PM me and I'll lift those as well.

Woups. The ban was lifted on 06APR2016. Forgot to reply, sorry. Archiving.

There are a few ways to manage this, and I have some concerns. How would we manage any sort of timer? For example, the brig timer. Would it be IC, or OOC? Because, let's say we book someone up for 20 minutes. This would be, 20 hours? Which timer would we show, to ensure that the players don't get confused. Basically: what would be the standard approach for things like that, where either or could be used. Another thing to think about is, this will effectively force default character development speed. At the moment, the speed of canon is slow by default, as it seems to be more intuitive with the way most things are set up. People seem to, by default, play slowly aging characters, and speed up time/leap a few years at specific points of their development. Though, I suppose this would just flip the exception on the other way, so the question is really preference. If the first issue I noted above gets bashed out, then I'd be up for putting this onto public vote. As we are primarily dealing with a preference on how the players manage their characters. Mechanical and lore concerns are kind of secondary here, I feel.

Gonna be lifting this tomorrow, if no one has any objections inbetween now and then. Since it's adminbot interfered, may take a bit to catch all of the mirrors. I'll PM you/reply to this thread once you can attempt to rejoin!

Mkay, got'em. Will run'em up tomorrow morning and get back to you.

Except DO's can't even do that. The report is immediately shot down as 'There was an antag, close it'. Well, the suggestion is to change that, and what I described would be a way through which to actually make the change possible.
-
Alternative: adjust the DOs reaction as necessary, and get them to actually take context into consideration. Chasing textbook execution of an arrest whenever half the station's blown up is unreasonable, so, don't do it. Take into consideration the situation, the stress the character is put under, and go from there.

Looking into this now. Also, can you name the three ckeys you have?

As a coder managing DM, my Bible. (The DM reference document. Every language has one, they are important for coders.) As a student, my guidebook. (The DM guide. Though it does not speak much about spriting.) Questions posed and short answers: What's a .dmi? A repository of images, so to speak. Within a .dmi file you can have multiple sprites, and these sprites may further have different directions and animation states. A .dmi is really a container format, which makes the images easily accessible from within the code. Not only do you have to pay attention to what .dmi file you're editing (icon var), you will also have to pay attention to what sprite you're editing (icon_state var). While there are ways to manipulate a .dmi file purely on a code basis (as is possible with any image format), doing so is ill-advised unless you have a set goal. Your best bet is to use DreamMaker to manage them. You can create an image in a compatible format with other software (common formats are supported, such as .png, .jpg, etcetera), and then import them with DreamMaker. .dmi specs? A .dmi is not innately 32x32. SS13 (at least our build) uses 32x32 as a standard, however. I think the biggest sprite a .dmi can contain is 256x256 pixels. Further more, there is a limit to how entries a .dmi can contain, but it's somewhere around 200+, and I forget. Why's all the shit so big, it's not 32x32! The game upscales depending on your preference. Check top bar, "Icons", select your preference. I use 64x64. If you want to see true size, enable 32x32 and enjoy. Why's my code not compiling? You're attempting to compile 509 version code on build 510. Downgrade, or await for the present dev cycle to end for us to be 510 compatible.

Locked for now. Admins will go over this and will decide what to do with the warning (whether to keep it or ditch it), and review the entire situation. The tail of it literally sped faster than I could keep up with before work. We'll post the updates here once we have them.

Application accepted into trial for deadhour primarily. Trial will last about 1 month. Please post feedback as it goes.

Okay gents. Here's the thing about ad hominem. Ad hominem is to purposefully undermine the character of an individual, instead of dealing with the complaints and arguments that the individual has raised. By this solitary definition, the warning issued to Delta on both counts (the Sue/alb thing and the LordRaven thing) falls short. While containing insults and being disrespectful (the former more-so, the latter less-so) towards other involved parties, they do not contain ad hominems. Now. The thing about the ad hominem rule, or the general, "Don't be a dick rule" is that you do not necessarily need to issue ad hominems to be caught by it. If your post is literally awful, and contains more insults and charged language than it contains constructive reasoning, then it probably doesn't need to be on the forums either. Or, to more accurately describe de-facto enforcement, continually making posts like that will land you in trouble. This is why I would like the warning for Sue/Alb complaint to stay, as it falls into the category of being way too much salt. Because it was too much. Ya, not ad hominem, but it's still butts if you cannot remain respectful up to a certain point. While we accept that the occasional insult or two will end up in a post, we will not accept conduct which makes a regular habit of using them. However, this presently reported post would hardly scratch the surface of that premise, I feel. Also, This is something I'm curious about. Can you please send me the logs of the conversation had between yourself and Jboy about the event? Because, a moderator, forum mod or otherwise, is expected to explain his reasoning behind his actions when asked by an individual who has a right to know.

I don't think that 2 words in a post otherwise well enough constructed and on point is enough to warrant a warning for breaking rule 1 and should ever constitute as a personal attack. We have not forced people to be 110% uptight about their conduct, either here or in-game, and I don't think we've started yet? And yes, I did actually read the entire post that was reported, however, while noticeably charged, it's not something I would consider a personal attack. It does not slander Raven, and, as I said, is relatively on topic. What I'd actually take more issue with are the call-outs for Raven being a liar, or the overall crassness of the post. However, there have been many-a-complaints that start out or devolve to that. (Thanks to the magic of Garn and a few others, though, usually hugs and kisses are had at the end.) And I don't think we've issued warnings for similar posts? Or if we've done so, then inconsistently? Unless any forum mod/server admin can correct me on this, or provide me with further context.
-
The issue with the warning is that it's useless in its present form. Shutters that are down due to engineering alerts will get locked with engineering access, as such, opening them without assistance is impossible. The only other way to open them is with a crowbar. And I don't think there's a warning for that! So, it's a pointless mechanic at this point, simply an annoyance.

I'll also direct this to Kekboot so he can figure out if this was legitimate for a bound drone to do or not.
-
I'll add, for posterity's sake. This is actually true. Your chances of getting unbanned once you break rule #1 to a stupid degree are pretty much slim to none. Mostly because, once you involve another community member, who is most likely here just to play a game, in some stupid bullshit, as you did, then you can pretty much stay gone forever. We're here to play a game, and no one is required to put up with anyone's crap like that.

[Accepted] DaBurs - Vaurca Whitelist Application
Skull132 replied to DaBurs's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Topic cleaned of off-topic shenaniganry. DaBurs will post a proper explanation now, and we'll let the admins decide the rest. Other feedback is still expected/helpful. -
The prompt also fails because idiots with crowbars don't even get the warning. And those are the folks who do the most chaos.
-
What I'm curious about. The two specific reports are from Apple users. Perhaps Safari reads shit as if you were on the desktop? Could one of you please post a screenshot of what it looks like.
-
Addressing this is going to be a little difficult. The key issue is, oh god the complexity of CSS and HTML templates ;-; Right now, the layout is sized based on percentiles. On desktops, this works well and is actually very important so that no one gets stuck with super-massive layouts on a tiny monitor. However, on a tiny screen, that goes out the window and you probably want to use 100% of the space you have available to you (as opposed to < 80% we're using now). Unfortunately, there is only one master toggle. Landscape view is functional, though, at least on my Android phone (+ chrome). Some screencaps would help me maybe understand what you mean, if the complaint is beyond just, "Sized in an awful ratio".

His IP changed, which is possible by the virtue of a dynamic IP. Or router fuckery or whatever. And I already promised to lift it, but then the forums ded.

Adminhelp folks who don't painRP/fearRP. As Alberyk said in the mod channel when I spoke to staff about it: "Well, you dealt with the doc who charged a heister with no RP and a saw, yup? There's your answer." If folks don't RP properly, the admins will generally clear it.
