  1. The admins are currently waiting to see if anyone has any further input on the matter. We did also decide that should Covert be unbanned, he will not be permitted to be on any of the staff teams. This would include the auxiliary teams, like lore, as well. Reason for it is simple: he has a lot of trust to patch up.
  2. Old server's down, as I use that slot for testing now. But with my new-found familiarity on how SS13 character saves work, I'm going to be coding up an interface for the live server that'll enable you to view and pull the old saves.
  3. Further, to reiterate and clarify the story of Covert. Any of those with knowledge are free to correct me if they spot any missing or erroneous details. Roughly around September/October 2014, Soundscopes (Developer at the time?) alerted myself (Head Developer at the time) and FFrances (Head Administrator at the time) to potential adminbus conducted by Covert. We investigated, found him to be abusing powers such as build-mode, random events, etcetera, to influence rounds in his way. The most usual thing he did was, for example, force round ends through creating large infestations of spiders, by releasing the singularity, etcetera. Over the course of the next few months, he was demoted from Primary Administrator, to Secondary Administrator, and then dismissed completely from staff. A few months pass, FFrances resigns, and it is raised to me that in his final month as Secondary Administrator, Covert did something amazing. Specifically, he abused the clause that permitted adminbus in order mess up ERP to grief two players of the server for, well, personal reasons. This reached me about a month or two after his dismissal from staff. For that, myself and the Primary Administrators at the time elected to permanently ban him for violating Rule 1 to a relatively high degree. And that was that. Sort of. Inbetween his dismissal and permanent banning, he also received a list of notes for shitting up IC and RP, which I would like him to address and explain: http://puu.sh/pkdIV/265ea7f3bb.png
  4. For mods and mins, the last discussion thread for reference: http://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=3793 For everyone, the last appeal thread for reference: http://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=3632
  5. Heyo, are you still interested in the application, or shall we consider it inactive, as you have not addressed any of the concerns raised?
  6. I need to pull a series off all-nighters, don't I? Cause everything up until like, 3 AM my time is pretty much the same as it's always been. Unless nuke gets voted it by majority, but, that's a special case.

    Old-old saves

Is anyone still interested in their saves from oldcode? Just checking this to see if anyone's interested, so I can gauge how quickly I need to write it up.
  8. The mods, they whisper many things in my ears. Regardless, the points which I outlined on page 8 or 7 stand. Lings need to kill people in order to gain power, and they need to gain power in order to enable further development of their storyline. This means that ambushes happen, death happens, yadda. There is no really better way to handle the gamemode, due to the inherent nature of the gamemode (and partially that of our playerbase). As for EOR grief, the unwritten part of that rule is that conflict is permitted to continue as long as it's logical/not overly escalated. Meaning this would have been straying on the "fine" part, maybe with a note added just in case. (And yes, apparently we are clearing out the archive here.)
  9. Apparently not. 5 months past due date. Anyways, global mutes have been a thing that we usually do in cases like this. But I think we've also started practicing targeted mutes, so yeah.
  10. As a note. With summer getting into fulls wing, we'll be going hidden more often and outside of our weekend schedule. Basically means that during primetime, if we have too many people, we'll simply drop off the public list until next deadhour.
  11. Here's my thing. You keep consistently making small (but still clear and simple) mistakes against the rules. It showcases the fact that you don't seem to be aware of even the most basic ones. What's up with that? EDIT: Ninjad by Garn, same concerns.
  12. This is, until Skull pushes a button which forces proportional ayylmao counts per round. But, regardless. I will remain vehemently against new races because oversaturating a market is awful. Plus, we haven't yet even figured out how to do races correctly, despite two attempts at them!
  13. Why is Ricky not a mod yet? Seriously though, Ricky is a level-headed and cool dude over OOC. Would have totally recruited you if you didn't go inactive for a bit. I see that there's no need for that, now, so have a +1 instead.
  14. Frenzy does not make you directly stronger, nor does it make you directly weaker. It's supposed to resemble your character's willpower breaking, and them turning into nothing but a bloodthirsty, primitive hunter. Hence the additional power of grapple when frenzied.
  15. Welp, the rewrite is livezors. And I want to know what people think of it. There are a few bugs, and I'll be shoving fixes for those into master over the next few days. What's good about it, what should be improved, and what added?
  16. Regarding adult material. If anyone wants to take a look at the BYOND TOS and its applicability here, lemme know how that turns out. I really don't want to bother, though. Considering the loss isn't that great, wowe.
  17. And we're not banning him for this singular offence, but instead, for a history of 2 years. His record makes his use of the word rape invalid in this situation. As simple as that. Everyone here uses certain words in context which is considered anti-SJW. That's fine. If we're looking at it from the viewpoint of SJWs, then my own usage of the word "retarded" would very quickly come under fire. Same for a dozen other community members. But none of us use words like that the extent that Rusty uses them to. As I said: two. Years. Over half a dozen warnings + two bans on the same. Exact. Thing. Literally, all we've requested is that he not devolve to all-caps rape shouting (this instance) or talking about hentai/other fun shit over OOC. To no avail. Where's the line, Melkior? Please point it out for me.
  18. Please separate Brightdawn from this. I am aware of the fact that they have thin skin, and the encounter in general I consider fair play. Read my initial post here fully, and understand it. Nuance is important, you seemed to have missed it. Plus, Brightdawn has already left from the community, even before the decision was made, so we're not attempting to keep her around by banning Rusty (which is what you're implying we're doing) and creating a hugbox as a result. It should also be considered I have a track record for being horribly insensitive, so I would like to think that whenever I consider punishing for something like this, a good few camel backs have been broken prior to this. Those camels come in the form of a laundry list of warnings for the exact same conduct over a period of two (2) years. Something's gotta give, bud. Point three, regarding words. Let's be frank. If someone started plastering "YOU'RE A RETARD" in all caps over OOC on a regular basis, they would end up banned, eeeyup? I assume they would eventually. Same exact case here. And finally. Once again, if you bothered to read, I am less worried about rape being used as a word, as I am worried about the fact that Rusty has thrown outbursts like that around consistently for 2 years. Once again. At some point. Something has to give. Don't you think?
  19. That's sorta irrelevant, though. Rusty's permaban is attached to the constant rape jokes he's been making for 2 years, and has racked 6+ warnings + bans up against. The specific incident raised in the complaint, without the mention of the word rape, is deemed a hug-it-kiss-it-out type affair.
  20. I assumed that's what it meant. Considering that the end of the pier is usually the sea, and walking off it would mean, well, ending up in the sea. I was later corrected by the staff. And, Nanako. The issue is that Rusty has been doing this shit for a fuck long time. Like, 2 years. And has a butt long amount of warnings, to include a week ban, all of them requesting he simmer down with his vocabulary. No improvement has been had, so welp.jpg.
  21. Gonna need description of events from Jenna and probably other players in that round. Warnings like this are usually handed out to Can you name me some that I can look up? Alternatively, log hunting it is.
  22. Going log fetching tomorrow. Other admin matters stopped me from doing so today. Though, I will say. Because of the capacity for ERT to wreck shit, calling one should be reserved for situations where security has actually failed. We discussed this with folks over OOC. Security is expected to have the capability for tactical response, as well as the training for it. Basically, they're meant to be capable of handling this stuff up to a certain degree. This is probably one of those cases where you'll see enforcement of principle superceed situational considerations, due to the effect ERT will have on a round. In my opinion, it should be considered endgame material, as it is geared up for that specifically.
  23. Logs. Everything up to line 13 248 is conduct which is generally considered fine for all community members to partake in within reason. After a relatively long discussion with the mods, primarily focused on the minute details of what exactly we want to ban people for, we have come to a few understandings. Point one, to a degree, an individual has to be able to separate himself and stop getting hurt. We cannot, and we will not on principle, enforce policy which dictates that you have to remain curt, uptight, 100% proper at all times. Understand that, as far as my perception goes, at no point was Rusty's intent towards you hostile. A part of communicating with humans is distinguishing intent, and responding properly. Line 13 172 is an attack on par with Rusty's initial opening, so no "stop" signal is sent. 182 and 184 follow in the same vein. (To be completely honest, I assumed the expression used by Brightdawn to be a request for suicide. So the escalation seemed mutual.) 13 210 is where you seem to take personal offence, and Rusty, being the amazingly tactful person that he is, fails to notice this and continues. The exchange in and of itself would not merit anything beyond a request for better mutual understanding in the future, on the first offence between two specific people. Point two. Rape jokes. This is what the staff considered a no-go. Considering Rusty's been consistently warned for this for a fucklong time, and little to absoloutely no improvement has been had on this specific matter, we don't really see a point to further entertain the issue. A permanent ban is being considered for this specific issue. The complaint will be left open for 48 hours for any further discussion on the matter to be had.
  24. Also, better PC. That will help speed up compile speeds.
  25. From the admin perspective. We already warn people for not cryoing (and simply SSD-ing forever) as single slot jobs. And would eventually, probably jobban for it. Which I think has happened once. Anyways, you should probably shoot an adminhelp if you notice someone making a habit out of it. Otherwise, even if we made it job-bannable full stop, we still wouldn't be having enough information to enforce it!
