Alright. The player in question has been contacted and spoken to off-forums. This is considered resolved and completed. Locked and archived.
-
At this point, we are awaiting the input of the player in question regarding the complaint. Their side of the story will be given, and they will most likely be spoken to by staff in hopes of resolving this.

I remember your CKey and a lot of what you did before. What we look for in a ban appeal is understanding of WHY what you did was a dumb, and why it didn't contribute to the round, etc, whatever it may have been. Can you explain how you think you've changed, and what you'll do differently next time?

I'm all for this. It seems like a really, really great idea for all the above reasons, and most people have already said what I agree with here. Having a first responder that can actually access areas like maintenance is a really, really good idea on a station in which statistically, most "normal" accidents not brought on by taters and gamemodes would probably be concussions and injuries from being a fool in Maintenance.

Typically speaking, a collapsed lung is not a fatal issue, but should still be treated ASAP. Though a ruptured lung, depending on the severity, can be fatal, you would not down in your own blood within a minute unless the entire organ was eviscerated. The lung would most often have to be wounded by a bullet, rib, knife, or other unwelcome thing. I still agree with Sue. This should definitely be lowered, as 10 lung damage, normally constituting "Hurt, but not immediately deadly" on other organs, is immediately fatal to the poor sod that didn't turn their internals on. And as for infections? Some sort of foreign body would have to actually enter the wound to cause this. Breathing in no air for a few seconds isn't going to give you a deadly infection. That's ridiculous.

Inverted Rectum's head whitelist v2.1 : Revengeance
Jennalele replied to a topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
There's a difference between filling in as a lisenced psychiatrist and being able to let crew talk to you in lieu of one. A psychology degree is a completely different ballpark than the rest of medical, and it's annoying when people yell at a CMO because they refuse to give an official diagnosis on a patient in Security, or that assistant that just tried to commit suicide. They may be able to step in and give an "Educated guess", talk with them, and pitch in their two cents, but they really can't just diagnose mental illnesses and symptoms like a psychologist. Just something small I've noticed. They can most definitely say "In my opinion, X is batshit insane and should be put under close watch", or "I'm pretty positive that X suffers from chronic depression", but they cannot make the official diagnosis without the certification. Anyways. On to the application: Yes. All my yes. Invert has played some of the best synthetics I've ever RPed with on the server, and I feel that he can handle the responsibility and judgement calls required to play a head. Haruspex as a CMO will be a mix of (a good sort of) terrifying and absolutely wonderful, and I can't wait. +1. -
There are many servers to choose from if you want to test the features of Baystation Code- A Heavy-RP server is not one of them. I will await input from the moderator in question, however.

Ban lifted.

Alright. I can see that you acknowledge this as being wrong, but in order to stop it from happening again, I want to ask you this: Why do you think this was wrong? Can you identity what it is about your actions that makes this a bad thing?
-
We'd probably chuckle and then ask you to go back to your main account.

Outboarduniform Head Whitelist
Jennalele replied to Outboarduniform's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Not really, that's not how these work. You'll start getting endorsements and replies on this thread once you start to play actively and demonstrate that you can function in a head of staff position. Keep in mind that if you plan to move into different departments, to use a new character for each, as it can be considered unfair for one character to know how to do medical, science /and/ security. Happy spessmens! -
Outboarduniform Head Whitelist
Jennalele replied to Outboarduniform's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Unfortunately, this application seems really bare-bones, and I have never seen you on the server. You have a few staff notes that I'm willing to overlook if you become more active and show that you can handle the position, though. In short, if you show your face more often on the server and prove that you can function in a head of staff role, I'd be willing to endorse this. I'll wait for what other people might have to add, as well. -
I'd say, in general, that the backseat moderating for new players that mess up really, really needs to be toned down. It can be scary when you're new to a server, call a restart vote unknowingly, and sic a lynchmob on yourself. The staff will already tell them calmly that what they did was an issue- They don't need ten other people shouting at them. Being new to a community, in general, can be a very scary thing. Trying to fit in and find your niche, especially on Aurora, could be made a lot easier if we all took the effort to practice a little more tolerance and guidance. I'll start with balds. Oh, balds, how we fear thee. But this isn't always the case. There are many genuinely new players that do want to find out how to get to a position as awesome as the Chief Engineer or Head of Security. When they are constantly brigged for every tiny mistake, scrutinized so much more heavily, and usually thrown out of their departments for things most of us get away with with a slap on the wrist, it makes trying to learn and fit in incredibly hard. If you truly fear what a bald is going to do, adminhelp it. I can assure you, we stay on top of these things almost 24/7. New players in general, players that don't know things. Players that are having trouble with the mechanics, or just seem new, out of place. I ask on behalf of the staff to please, please help make them feel like a part of Aurora. There is no worse feeling than being the new kid in school, we've all been there. There is a noticeable issue on Aurora. The cliques of IC (or OOC) friends that always group together. It can be hard to fit into these groups, and harder to be a new player that has to see other players being so well-liked. You're doing what you can, but no matter how hard you try, almost nobody seems to be listening to you. It bloody well sucks. And yes-- I understand that people could fall through the cracks. We could get an unassuming welderbomb here or there, or that scientist that was doing well that suddenly bombs medical research. You know what? Shtick happens. Staff talks to the player responsible, we repair the damage, and move on with our lives. Simple as that. TL;DR: Include people. Don't lynch people for newbie mistakes, they might really be trying to make an effort. Try to let new people into your group, even if just for one round. You might find that they're a really swell RPer. Ahelp balds that you're really, really worried about, and try not to ICly worry about it unless they're actively taking a welder to a fuel tank, beating someone with their toolbox, etc. TL;DR 2: Be tolerant of the new kids. You were once the new kid, too.

Sometimes, people join with silly names. Most of them get it sorted out quickly. Others reply with a polite request to have you bedded with them, and log out. Welderbombs tend to be a pretty quick sentence, though we've had some entertaining excuses in the past. "Heating up this fuel" seems to be a favorite.

I don't recall, no. But we have implanted satanist chaplains in the past to explode on saying the words "Hail Satan", or "Satanic".
-
I definitely like this. I have a lot of positive experiences with Boss, from our complete and hilarious inability to blow up a bomb, doing nuke ops dream teams, or whatever. He's a great RPer that can definitely add to our unfortunately lacking Skrell population. You have my +1.

Omnia, heck yeah! I really like their works. Psst, try out Celldweller.

[Accepted] New Religion [dodekatheon]

Technically, any non-abrahamic religion is "pagan", as it's a wide umbrella term. So, yes. Space pagans. -

Please fill out the proper application format for a species whitelist. -
The other kind of engineering dance party:

That being, Kon, I scoured the Wiki for available synthetic lore, and did my research.

I have a drawing of an IPC and a Skrell somewhere on my computer, but it may have been lost in a hard drive fuckup. I'll hunt around for it.

Uh, guys... Fai's breaking into places... Again...

BYOND Key: Jennalele Character Names:Lirivien Kolton, Eira Yates, Reanne Strafford, Avelak Nirisha, A Rose Amidst Gunpowder, Alistair Enright, Ananda Santana, Lukas Wright, Chenmo De Xiaochou, Narcisa Aucciello, Jade Ravera, Barry Miles, Vesri Vassini, Glowing Embers Drifting, Vasili Nirelek How long have you been playing on Aurora: Since.. Ooh, Late August, Early September? I can’t quite remember. Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Flaming, vibrant fuschia. Just joking. Black works. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: I have, I have. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I really like synthetics, for one. They're interesting, new, and I have a really, really good idea for one- The background of which is listed below. I think their pattern of thinking is fundamentally different, yet again, from a human or another race, and I'd like for Sille to be able to explore the concept of emotion, and the simulated extent that she seems to possess. I'm looking forwards to being able to play with the theory of IPCs and the extent of their sentience. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: IPCs are fundamentally different from humans and other organic races. I see them as more black and white- They tend to lack the judgement that a human /does/ have- IE: They may be programmed to take the option with the higher probability. See: A 50% chance to save one person, over a 30% chance to save four- Or the fine nuances of law, what is and isn’t trespassing, vandalism, and the like. Not to mention, they are a relatively new “Species”, and much doubt is cast upon them, how sentient they really are, and more. Why does this species in particular hold your interest? I bloody love synthetics. No, really. They’re cool as hell. As a race, though, I really find their history and the fine parts of interaction between other races and how they might view an IPC pretty awesome. Also, much of the reasons stated above. I love taking what's given and playing with it, making it work. Character Name:Sillouette Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Reflection. Since the earliest records accessible could show, this unit has been a designated medical intelligence. It has seen many organics come into the universe, and it has seen even more fade out from it. This unit worked alongside many accomplished doctors and nurses in its time. It has been moved to newer, more functional chassis units multiple times. Anticipation. The roboticists say that this unit shall receive a new chassis again soon. Wonder. What upgrades will this new chassis hold? The transfer will happen in a week, and they say that I have earned my “freedom”. Concern. This unit does not understand. This chassis bears no chains, no shackles… What sort of freedom could they speak of? Perhaps they mean movement? Excitement. Maybe they are switching my model to crisis to be able to get through the maintenance ways better. Confusion. Sometimes, the doctors congratulate me and ask what this unit will do with this freedom… This unit does not know much outside of this field. Tentative. Perhaps information could be downloaded, but why? This unit can help people as it is. These laws dictate certain things, what is good from what is bad. Resolute. This unit is to help the organic life to which it has been entrusted. Anticipation. Now, they take this unit from the chassis. The outside world goes dark, and for a moment, everything seems to seize. Worry. The new chassis was strange- This unit saw it for a moment before being taken out for transfer. It was black, and bipedal, roughly humanoid in shape. It lacked any ports or panels for tools and supplies, though! How can this be an upgrade? Neutral. This unit feels them connecting the wires and ports now. It shouldn’t be long now, but what of this freedom they speak of? What is… The roboticist turned me back around now, and smiled, tilting his head, “Congratulations, Sille. Go ahead and rescan your system now.” …All systems online. Lawset: Null. And then it hit me. …Oh. What do you like about this character?Sillouette is… Well, curious. Nearly as curious as a diona. She’s a mainly medical-based IPC, and she’s still very much in the black and white. She hasn’t exactly adjusted to having her laws removed, but she sometimes seems to still base her decisions off of them, as they’re what she knew to be “lawful” and correct. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Seven point three cats out of ten cats. Notes: I understand a fair amount of drama has OOCly encompassed IPCs recently. I hope this somewhat naïve, genuinely cheery IPC can help.
