[Accepted] Modariara - Mel's Mod App.
SampleTex replied to Melariara's topic in Moderator Applications Archives
+1 for several reasons They're a good rper, and plenty of people above have stated that From my interactions with them, they seem to be real good at keeping their head about them and playing CMO can quickly become extremely chaotic sometimes, hell any head of staff position can be. I feel they would be an amazing addition to the team, in addition would be fun to bully during trial They're highly respected and well known as a player, and that goes miles with being a staff member They already have the bully admin attitude needed when holding admin hands -
A Horrible Mistake - Ventii Seeks the Office
SampleTex replied to Ventii's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Amazing player, have always had great interactions with them and they stay in character really well. I am skeptical about it however, why would you put yourself through something that you seem to dread having, but having read the reason for why you are applying for the spot, it makes sense. I want to see you playing a corp liason, I feel like it would fit you and your play style very well. I am however going to beat you up if you don't get this whitelist, don't disappoint. +1 -
[ACCEPTED] Cinny wants to have a nice office

Enjoyed Xiang Zhou as a HOP, and I'd love to see them around the station even more +1 from me -
Hello, considering the last reported attempt of ban evasion from you wasn't even a month ago, that looks incredibly bad. You dug your own grave, and when given a chance to get out, you kept digging instead. Had you just waited without ban evasion, there would have been a chance for you to get unbanned, instead, you evaded again and again. I'm going to deny this with no chance of appeal.

This sprite is hella nice, though I'm curious as to how well it would protect against chemicals, unless its an actual labcoat with a hologram projector, Definitely a +1

As much as I'd love to participate I will be unable to do so because of time zones, so I will instead ask, what are the odds that this will be posted as a recording after the fact for the rest of the server who can't participate or are reluctant to do so? I'd love to learn.

I highly support this as well, it can help with diversity in round type (AKA less failed round starts because no one had those antag selections enabled), as well as make secret somewhat of a guessing game again, instead of cycling through tator and its variants as tator seems to be the most popular antag type. I have no issue with playing things like cultist or revolutionary if that means that it'll be better for the other players in the round as a whole, and it'll in my eyes, encourage people to try and come up with more entertaining gimmicks for the less popular game modes since if they make it more entertaining in general, they'll likely have more fun playing an antag they normally dislike.

I like the forum post, and I like his interview. I would enjoy seeing him on our moderation team as another trial to bully +1 -

Hello! Unfortunately this perma ban appeal is going to be denied due to poor attitude and ban evasion. Feel free to try applying again at a much later date.
-
I'll have the ban lifted then, make sure you ahelp if you have questions in the future about what's acceptable.
-
Right, so the full reason I applied this ban was as follows: I do agree that second chances are fair for most people, and I am willing to give you one, I would just like you to confirm that you read our rules and wont be breaking them again, and we wont be seeing an incident where the entire security department is trying to pepperspray you as you 'ate the handcuffs.' If you can promise me that youve read our rules in their entirety and wont be causing more LRP incidences I'll have the ban lifted.

I once lynched pun pun on the construction level with Klavdiva as nikit. The only reason it's non canon was because yonnimer as a ghost flew in because it was a cult round and they were making ghosts visible. Me and another roboticist made patented combat ripleys after overhearing the mercenaries were getting a bit violent and going department to department. We didn't want to get hurt and ended up accidently teleporting someone into space iirc. I escaped via the wormwhole generator after abandoning my mech and hid in the science subfloor. One of my characters was a kleptomaniac and managed to steal so much shit one round he needed to make a stash for a shift (he was stealing money from cigarettes machines and stealing cigars) I once accidently ignited a hallway with telescience. This was back before the nerfs or telescience calculators being a big thing

Hello! Considering a quick google search of your ckey revealed that you just got permabanned 2 days ago from Bee station for disconnecting during an ahelp, effectively not cooperating with their staff, I don't exactly believe you are ready to return to the aurora station. Id suggest playing on some MRP servers or LRP servers if your interested in getting back into an aurora like environment, and then coming back in a month and telling us what you've done to follow the rules. I hate saying this, but I am under the impression you only want back to find a server to break rules on before getting banned and moving on again. Ban appeal denied.
-
Ban is lifted and you should be able to play once again
-
Right, so just to recap things to make sure we are on the right page. 1. The biggest issue we had, and the main reason for the ticket, was the fact that you were playing your detective effectively as an officer who's given a revolver with lethal rounds right away. When there is security officers around, it is not reasonable for your character to be running around while still on a cane to fight antags, and breaks our reasonable character rule. 2. Please do not leave during an Ahelp in the future, we do not like having to draw things out on the forums, but we also cannot leave things unresolved. 3. In the future please try to be more respectful/cooperative towards admins and mods, we understand if you are having a bad day, but in the end we are players just like you who have volunteered to take on extra responsibilities towards the server to help keep things running smoothly. Being uncooperative only makes the process longer for yourself and leads to things like this. 4. You have had a fair amount of issues with you leaving rounds or going SSD as detective. This should be seen as your final warning about properly playing your detective and not leaving the round without cryoing. It will result in a job ban from detective if needed. If your willing to acknowledge why I applied the permanent ban and that you are effectively on your last chance for the time being with detective I will see that the permaban is lifted. Just stay cooperative with staff in the future and things will be fine.

Updated the sprites to be more original/less like the original paramedic jacket, based off a real paramedic jacket found via a quick google search. it is still identifiable as a paramedic jacket, but looks different. https://gyazo.com/50fa4f0e408c3c1bf621f2ce8c5fa8ec https://gyazo.com/ed43e97cdc7dc41846f8b174fe71629d Maza Jacket Open.dmi Maza jacket.dmi

+1, the sprites are very well done, and the lore behind the AI themselves is interesting enough to warrant a custom sprite for them

BYOND Key: SimontheMiner Discord: @SampleTex#1892 Character name: Ra'mit Ma'zaira Item name: Winter Paramedic Jacket Why is your character carrying said item to work? As a Paramedic, he will always be wearing his jacket to help keep himself visible to the injured and those in need. As it provides no insulation, and working in medical requires him to enter cooler parts of the station occasionally (or even freezing parts), Ma'zaira would have purchased himself a custom coat so he can work in these cooler parts of the station without fear of getting too cold to keep his hands steady when administering medications or applying bandages and burn kits Item function(s): Functions like a winter coat, just sprited to look like a normal EMT coat with a bit of the insulating fabric seen around the neck of the jacket, as the normal winter coats feature. It will be able to open and close like other coats. Item description: A custom made first responder coat. Inside is a warm fabric and the name Ra'Mit Ma'zaira sewn in by the collar. Item appearance: Opened: https://gyazo.com/59e617c52440250f1688b3b67b2ba6e4 Closed: https://gyazo.com/fb160beb23007a54880fc587688c0530 Why is your character bringing this item to work? Because he thought a better insulating jacket that looks almost identical to the standard issue one would be a pretty handy thing to have. If he has to stop someone from bleeding to death or inject life saving chemicals into them in an area that might be too cold for him, it will give him a buffer time to ensure he can safely move the patient (which is entirely his job, stabilizing and then transportation for treatment) How did your character obtain this item: After a rad storm made him and someone else go into maintenance for shelter they passed through a refrigerated room as a shortcut, to which he commented about how cold it was. The discussion lead to him talking about the jacket he gets not being very warm and lead to him thinking about getting a custom one made. After work that shift he went down to a tailor and discussed getting one made for himself. It isn't a super interesting story, but it makes a lot of sense that someone would get something that would make working easier and more comfortable. What value does this item have to your character, and what story does it tell?: A fair amount due to his own personal history, and not his history with the jacket himself. Growing up he always wanted to be a hero, but children can't exactly participate in a nuclear war as a soldier. By the time he grew up the war was already over but the idea of being a hero and honorable Unathi was stuck to him. Eventually he learnt about the Kataphracts and how to become a hopeful, which in combination to his occupation of helping people in their time of need as a paramedic, rekindled that dream of being some sort of hero to others. To him the jacket is almost a physical manifestation of his dream of becoming a hero, showing his dedication to helping protect the injured and weak as a Kataphract hopeful. It by no means gives him a sense of invincibility, as he realizes it is just a jacket, and instead views it as more of a way of saying "This is what I am dedicating myself towards doing and I am proud to say it." Any reasonable thing he can do to allow him to focus more time and energy not heating himself back up dedicating himself to his honor code is something he would absolutely do. How will you use this to better interact with crew and/or stimulate RP? It would make sense for a unathi to invest in clothing that will help them ensure they can remain at a comfortable temperature, plus it while it gives a slightly different looking jacket, it isn't overly obvious, encouraging further conversation between others who pay attention and ask him about it. Spirits are included below as DMI files Additional comments: if anything needs to be adjusted on the sprite I would be more than happy to do so to help this process go faster, should it be approved. [Withdrawn] MoonTruthers command whitelist
SampleTex replied to MoonTruther's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Unfortunately I'm also going to give a -1 Especially with the perma bans being things you have had (Although not because of them) I would personally like to see you around more on the station and you know, making a few characters who might try and get to know the crew (or perhaps the right people) so they have an IC reason as to why nanotrasen would even promote them to head of staff. -
BYOND Key: SimontheMiner Character Names: Nikit Vasili, Taps, B.I.R.D, Tamir Hanar, Hashim Pruzzhulkanich Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Black Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Of course, I wouldn't apply otherwise Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: My interactions with Unathi have usually been pretty interesting. First names being reserved for family and close friends, while rather simple, has a rather significant impact when it comes to interacting with new characters. After also reading the lore about the contact war, along with the lore on the Kataphracts, I got to thinking about the potential for interesting characters that would be both fun to play and fun to interact with. The lore overall for the Unathi is interesting, and the wastelands continuing to take more of the untouched lands means more and more unathi might find themselves off Moghes and it's feudalistic government. An honor driven race finding itself working for a less than honorable company is an interesting avenue for me to explore. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: As stated above, they will only refer to others using the person's last name unless they are family or a close friend whos been given expressed permission. While more stylistic, they usually will say "is not" or "can not" instead of something like "isn't" or "can't." There is also the hissing when speaking Tau Ceti Basic, extending s or even making an X sound different than if a human were to say the same phrase. Being cold blooded reptiles, they can't handle the cold very well, but are slightly more tolerant of the heat (although excessive heat can cause them to feel sluggish and tired), as well as often performing things like running in quick bursts, being incredibly fast but not able to run for very long at all. Their carnivorous biology also makes them unable to get any form of nutrition from plants, using it only to make their meat based meals look nicer. Character Name: Ra'mit Ma'zaira Please provide a short backstory for this character: Ra'mit Ma'zaira is a 22 year old paramedic born in the city of Skalamar on Moghes. Growing up during the last 7 years of the contact war, Ma'zaira was made aware of the fighting against the Traditionalist Collation "brutes," aware that they used non direct combat to fight. Enough propaganda got to Ma'zaira who wanted to be a soldier while he was growing up, but being a child he was never able to actually go out and fight. He did everything he could as a child, living by the honor code. In school he gained a reputation for being a very honest and hard working student, while also being known to speak what was on his mind, regardless of what others might think. This resulted in them being a child that either got along well with others, or was disliked for their brutal honesty. Once the war was over this dream of being a hero never faded, and instead shifted over towards becoming a Kataphract, . He discovered he had a knack for thinking on his feet and an interest in medicine during his teenage years. He spent most of his free time either training to be able to fight, or studying medicine and science, with the remaining free time being spent either with friends or helping out the clan leader. Once he was old enough, he went to school to become a paramedic and continued his training. Eventually he made his intentions of becoming a Kataphract officially known and was sent out to stay in Tau Ceti for a few years to prove that he will stick to the code of honor and hopefully return home as a Saa’Izweski. What do you like about this character? The whole idea of sending a Kataphract-Hopeful to work for a company like Nanotrasen, which has surely had less honorable situations, is something I'd love to try out. Seeing if Ma'zaira can actually adhere to the code of honor for a few years while working for this company would be a great test for the prospective warrior, and working as a paramedic would only enhance his abilities to help protect the injured and weak. A good Kataphract is able to do more than just fight their way to victory, but also able to talk and work their way to it as well. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I'd give myself a solid 8.5/10. I can type decently fast, always stay in character, and can play vastly different characters from one round to the next without any drop in quality (say a quiet tajaran one round and then a very social IPC the next). I can play heads of staff and have 3 other xeno whitelists, so I'm sure that also counts for something.

[Accepted] Kermit's Command Application
SampleTex replied to kermit's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Ive played with Faith before, both as my CMO Taps and once while they were trying to keep Nikit alive after he was shot in the heart and it barely functioned. They know what they are doing and I love their characters. I'll give them a +1 and would love to see them in the medbay -

I personally like the idea of cloning being present, because it makes sense that it would exist and be used to bring people back to life. HOWEVER, I don't believe cloning is something the station itself is necessarily required to have. Sure it's a way to get back into the game and there's the intimidating respawn timer. Cloning can be done "off station" and in the event the death is canon, a suggestion of say, a few day break from that character to simulate recovery from death, can cover our bases in terms of recovery. So what do we do with cloning? Well much like cloning not being necessary on the station, removing it isn't necessary either. If it's on the station we can either make it less appealing to use that the alternative, such as being more recource intensive, requiring active input during the cloning process from the doctor (say, a little mini game or something), or a slower process, just for the love of God do not add in more tramas that make the patient tear themself apart or fall asleep every 5 seconds. I think we should give incentives to use other methods of revival after they're added but still allow cloning to be a viable last resort to cheat the grim reaper in the game of life. And the solution to a more viable way to cheat death without requiring cloning/being more appropriate for a hrp server/mechanically less messy in the end? The first solution proposed by Crystal, treatment of wounds to get the patient into a state they can (barely) stay alive in, revival of the patient (maybe a new device to shove the patient into that kick starts the heart instead of a defibrillator, because a portable resurrection tool can cause some issues), then further treatment of wounds. Missing an organ and the time it will take to get a replacement? Stuff the patient into a cryo bag or cell to effectively put them into stasis and stop the timer for how long before the patient is only able to be ressurected through cloning. As for addressing the missing organ, allow robotics to print cybernetic replacements to give to medical. We can already make replacement limbs, why not organs? As for the cryo bags and cells, what would stop people from stuffing them into that and waiting for an easy time to save them instead of running against the clock like they should be doing? We can add complications, such as damaged nerves causing weakness of limbs (lack of feeling, unable to lift heavy objects, maybe the shakes which can cause you to fail when using items), limb necrosis (causing the death of the limb and forcing it to be removed), or the loss of a sense (unable to feel getting poked by things, can't taste food or smell, nearsightedness, and partial deafness). All of which could be treated with therapy, medicine, or surgery in the case of nerve damage or limb necrosis. All avoidable if the person is fast enough, but treatable if the only option is to leave them in a state of stasis for a while. It might get mechanically complex, but if done right it'd be less messy than cloning and still provide incentives to not die in the first place
