  1. As the player for Tamp, the one who had the death alarm which confused the crew and that I decided to put in because "fuck it, what could go wrong?" I +1 this with as much force as the shuttle hit me and the other raiders with.
  2. Last night actually, I had a tator round where nikit was confused and believed he was Preston, so he stole all their clothes and ID, then sent Preston to work in robotics
  3. He was my first tajaran character (the one I wrote my application for actually), and I think one of my better know characters too. I'd love to hear what you guys think, and see if there's something I should maybe tweak with him!
  4. +1 I really like the idea, and I really like the sprites. Maybe you can gift wrap the person for an insult to injury kind of thing? All I can imagine is wandering through maintenance as my engineering apprentice and coming across some scientist hog tied and left in the dark, complete with gift wrapping and bow tie.
  5. I love the idea, and I can easily see how it could make knocking people out much easier. Maybe the victim can't speak as well while being sleeper hold choked, they can still make noise and mutter out some words but I can imagine airflow would still be restricted at least a little bit. Maybe they'd talk like a person does with a broken lung (messages getting cut short and ending with ... as the person runs out of breath to speak). It'd be them basically gurgling some incoherent message over the radio while half unconscious (which could also just be equated to someone accidentally leaving their radio on, or give the victim a chance to rp something out). People would get the chance to know something could be up, or it could simply be someone left their radio on accidentally as they ate some food. Plus, people would be able to knock someone else unconscious, steal what they need (maybe a tator stealing the captains ID for their agent ID to scan) and if done right (tator wearing the mask and everything that was messed with was replaced or put back), tators could get into their own ninja like shenanigans if they wanted to, or just steal everyone's clothing for the purpose of spacing it.
  6. I've had great interactions with them, They had a very good reason to start talking with Nikit and they had some very wholesome interactions with Tamir. 10/10 character would ling in the tunnels.
  7. I was one of the raiders that round (I was playing shiro, who was going around and interacting with other departments outside of cargo and civilian to share the raider love). I did have a little interaction with kanza that round when I kidnapped Ariik neuman the scientist, who came along because I was parading the only security member on station in cuffs at the time and waltzed in with all access. IC he said he came along with me because he didn't know what the raiders could do to him, and that he would rather cooperate and not risk being shot as the (semi) leader of the raiders was getting to know them. I do believe this was in front of kanza but I can't exactly remember, all I do know is that there was a few times I spoke IC to them about how they were playing it smart by working with me, not against me. At that point I took Ariik I left the warden in the hall (so he could get back into the round) and Kanza in the lab under the assumption that they wouldn't cause any issues. Once I heard that she had given the warden a weapon that is when I ordered the other raiders initially to cut an arm off, but then we decided to drop it down to a minor beating because we had a whip with us and the whole plan was to take over the station and force everyone or a majority of people to do mining (which kind of backfired when the SM blew). Later I saw kanza being dragged through the hall and heard one of the other raiders got seriously injured by kanza with a gun. As for IC, I have interacted with them a few times as my two science characters, and from what I have seen any time they are present with the opportunity to learn something they soak it up like a sponge. It wouldn't be super unreasonable for them to understand how to print the guns, but using them properly is pushing it a little. Rping out something like jostling the gun while trying to fire it and causing a jam would make sense, but running and gunning doesn't. Even IRL I can imagine firing a gun while running is dangerous and hard to properly do, and would be something that would take a lot of training. I don't think unloading a plasma cutter into one of the other raiders was properly escalated, mostly because of fear RP.
  8. Ill give AIMMO a +1 because he is one hell of a great player, and has some damn fine RP.
  9. I would most likely Retcon it into xenobotany, as it is related to the field, if I find that it is too difficult to play xenobiology as a dionaea. Part of his end goal of becoming a great sage would include becoming a research director as he branches out into other fields. He obviously won't spend all his time teaching others, as he will spend almost all his free time off station learning (reading, taking lessons, speaking with experts in their respective fields) I will keep that in mind, and in RP I will occasionally push the task of teaching new people to others if something grabs Learning of the Bygone's attention/curiosity. I make the occasional slip up and misspelling every now and then, but for the most part I feel I am fairly consistent with my RP. While I'm not perfect, I do try my best to improve and when I get the chance, will send a lengthy me action (such as when doing routine maintenance work on an IPC), having a conversation with someone for extended periods of time, and even when I get the chance to do so without holding up other players and disrupting the RP by having everyone wait for me to add my part. I'm no Tabi fast fingers and able to send giant messages as quick as a flash, but I am working on getting to that point.
  10. I've noticed this too, and while it doesn't cause health issues for me it can be a little annoying having the hallways painted various colors. Personally I feel it's a bit of a low RP thing to do. I also don't know if the admins would appreciate us beating a drone to death with a metal rod/crowbar/toolbox/robust metal object for painting the floors (unneeded combat logs, potiental for ganking since the drones can only really beep buzz and ping in response, annoyance of going out of your way to chase said drone down). I wouldn't mind seeing things like departments getting a custom paint job if they request it, or the painting is done on a floor like the construction level where few people even go, but running around the halls painted neon pink on a research station while mercenaries chase you down seems a bit immersion breaking.
  11. BYOND Key: Simontheminer Character Names: Characters I play Nikit Vasili: Roboticist Tamir Hanar: Engineering apprentice Zharr Mrakiizar: Cargo Tech Akio Tanaka: Janitor Species you are applying to play: Dionaea What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Dionaea... Are... Exempt... Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I've always had pleasant experiences with people who play Dionaea, usually being either funny, interesting, and a few times emotional. Grown by Starlight (played by Yonnimer) has left a very good impression about the Dionaea on me and seems to have a lot of fun playing them. Players participating as nymphs grown during the round also provided plenty of pleasant interactions between other players even after growing into a worker. The way worker Dionaea use a logic over emotion way of thinking (due to the emotional filter provided by the nymphs merging together) shows promise for a lot of interesting IC scenarios. Their high curiosity and intelligence makes them valuable as helpers and staff in departments like science (which is my most commonly played department). Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Dionaea only appear humanoid in order to fit in with the working class of the galaxy. The mind(s) of a dionaea is much different than other species, being composed of a collective of nymphs sharing their own experiences with each other. Each nymph is also tasked with different parts of the Gestalt to make sure things are going along smoothly, and because it is a group of Diona they will often refer to themselves as "we" but can learn to use "I" instead. A notable behavior shared by all Dionaea is the teacher-student like relationship older (sage) and younger (neophyte) individuals. Unless otherwise told by a sage, a neophyte will protect their sages with their life. Notable game mechanics about the Dionaea are they are immune to space exposure, move slowly, feed off radiation and light, and can die from the lack of heat. Character Name: Learning of the Bygone Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Originating from the research station tasked with studying “The Dead Planet” gestalt in Epsilon Ursae Minoris, Learning of the Bygone is composed of samples provided by the Dionaea gestalt in exchange for Skrell genetic samples. The nymphs that make up the gestalt Learning of the Bygone all shared an interest in the scientists studying them and xenobiology. Soon after the nymphs had integrated into the gestalt they voiced an interest working with the scientists in the field of xenobiology. They worked as a lab assistant and took supplementary courses in xenobiology for a total of four years before obtaining their degree. Learning of the Bygone continued to study the field outside of work, successfully defending his degree the first year after obtaining it and every five years after that. After the gestalt had reached the age of ten years together a human lab assistant, Kenny Serbus, joined the team of scientists that Learning of the Bygone had working with. Learning of the Bygone quickly noticed their curiosity and would enjoy spend time helping and teaching them. Since Learning of the Bygone enjoyed teaching Kenny it decided that it would begin to spend some of time to learning as much as it possibly can about xenobiology and other related science fields. It’s ultimate goal was to become a sage for others in it’s field of study. After Kenny had received their degree and became part of the team, Learning of the Bygone left the research station in their pursuit to become a notable sage. What do you like about this character? I like the ambition to learn Learning of the Bygone will have, and the willingness/eagerness to teach people. They will also provide opportunities to new players to get into the science department and to work with their coworkers in other fields. Their goal to become a sage will also open up plenty of opportunities for them to seek out knowledge from others. I feel they will get plenty of chances to interact even with those outside the science department. They have the curiosity which is a big part of the Dionaea race. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 8/10 Notes:
  12. Ill +1 it, would love to see more variation in sprites available to be used as a PAI. Another sprite that would be cool to see is a snake sprite, and when worn by the user they wrap around them like a scarf of sorts.
  13. Having Nikits fortune was fun, made for some good rp throughout the round (he thought the cards were true, when in reality it was probably chance). +1 from me
  14. Capesh is not only a nice person OOC, IC he is friendly as well, which makes it fitting that as a security borg he would have a friendlier, less imposing design. +1 from me due to RP skills, good looking sprite, and possible RP interactions the sprite could hold.
  15. BYOND Key: Simon_The_Miner Character name: Nikit Vasili Item name: Vasili Mine Zippo Why is your character carrying said item to work? While he will use it to light the occasional cigarette when he's alone (and claim he's only smoking once in a while to ween himself off cigarettes), he also considers it a good luck charm, as his father and experienced miners all claim they have used it to find their way to safety when the lights cut out. Nikit's lighter was given to him by his father as a parting gift when Nikit left for a higher education. Item function(s): functions identical to a Zippo lighter. Item description: An old looking zippo lighter with Vasili Mine Logo engraved on it. Good Luck Nikit is crudely scratched on under the logo in small writing. Item appearance: Similar to a Zippo, but with the the family mines logo carved in (not sure if the sprite of the zippo is large enough for it to be detailed or just a slightly discolored line of pixels). How will you use this to better interact with crew and/or stimulate RP? When Nikit feels he is trapped (physically or mentally) he would most likely pull out his zippo and look at the flame for a moment to calm down and try to find a solution (or if lighting it is not possible, simply holding it and looking at it). He would also use it more often to provide light than his PDA's light source, or to light cigarettes for his close friends (sometimes even offering to light them preemptively since he likes using it). Additional comments: If it is easier on the staff for me to make my own sprite for the lighter, I can do so.
  16. Playing as Mack Gregg and going around the station looking for a laser retractor (even getting the quartermaster involved and being laughed at by Lilly in science) make for a really fun RP experience, 10/10 would recommend new medical residents get pranked again +1
  17. Name: Nikit Vasili Species: Tajaran (Njarir'Akhran) Age: 27 Date of Hire: 2/12/2459 Job Title: Mechatronics Engineer Preferred Contact Info: VasiliRobotics@NT.net
  18. I'm eager to see what the verdict is and I hope you enjoyed your Easter (and that your work wasn't too stressful)!
  19. I have updated the application, if there is anything else I can fix let me know, and thank you for giving me the chance to fix my application!
  20. I will keep these things in mind and will address them later today once I get home, would you rather I edit the original or copy past a new one and post it as a comment? Is there anything you would like me to address with this section aside from the loyalty part or is this ok? As for the ALA opinion I will touch that up to add more hatred for them, and will tone down the power tools to merely maintaining them instead of building them so as you said; not revolutionizing his town and then making a deal with NT, but merely getting a scholarship/admission to college. Ah, just go ahead and edit your current application. There's no reason to make a brand new one. Alright, Since it has gotten late by the time I have seen this post I will work on it as soon as I am able to tomorrow. Please let me know if you want me to change anything besides the loyalty part in the section you said was close to the wiki.

  22. I believe I have fixed those issues, thank you for letting me know about them.
  23. BYOND Key: Simon_the_Miner Character Names: Tex Newhert, Mason Newhert, Lewis Click Species you are applying to play: Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Cream as seen in the Njarir'Akhran group of the Tajara species Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: The Tajara seem like an interesting species that would provide a great experience while roleplaying on the station for both myself and those that I will be rping with. People playing Tajara on the station have always been interesting for me to interact with, and I would like to be able to participate in getting to play a Tajaran. Overall I feel like it would allow for an even better experience than the already good ones I've had on the Aurora station Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: The Tajara have some difficulty with some of the human languages due to the different structures of their mouth and some due to there bodies. Most speak about themselves in the third person unless in the presence of someone they are very close to or on the occasional slip up due to constant exposure to human staff aboard the Aurora. They have a tendency to roll their R's in human speech. Most names are either derived from Russian or Arabic due to them being the easiest for the Tajaran and humans to both pronounce, due to normal Tajaran names being very difficult for other species. They do not handle the heat very well while being very cold resistant. On a personal level Tajarans can be fairly loyal to one another, however this loyalty does not expand out as much towards humans do to how much humans have negatively effected the Tajarans in the past. While Niki will have had his claws filed down in order to allow him to work on robotics, most have sharp claws that will hurt more than a humans punch and they can see better than one in the dark. Filed down claws are something that is done reluctantly. Racism is still seem to a greater degree in Tajaran than in humans. Character Name: Nikit Vasili Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Nikit Vasili grew up in a small mining town neither close or far from a major city, as it was possible to buy a bus ticket to the closest one at a steep price and a several hour drive. His family was one the only supplier in town for tools and gear to be used in the mines that was not over priced or extremely low quality. Due to the fact that Nikit's home town was known close to rich metal deposits Nanotrasen Corp had several representatives in town to "over watch" the towns production and protect them from attacks from the Adhomai Liberation Army. Due to the attacks often taking the lives of both soldiers and civilians, Nikit saw the leaders of the Adhomai Liberation Army as the equivalent of gang bosses and scum, and the soldiers of the Adhomai Liberation Army as terrible people. Due to the fact that the Liberation Army wants to remove humanity from Adhomai, Nikit finds them to be foolish. Propaganda from the People's Republic of Adhomai taught him that Adhomai would collapse into chaos if the humans were banned from Adhomai at a young age. This instilled the idea that the Liberation Army was nothing better than foolish thugs and greedy crime lords looking to prosper through wrongdoings towards innocent Tajarans, and the only thing protecting him is the cooperation between the humans and the Peoples Repubic of Adhomai. This idea began to fade around the age of 9, however at age 10 Nikit was injured when a shell from artillery hit his home nearly killing his father. He recovered with a slight limp in his left leg and a new hatred for the ALA which was nothing more than a horrible gang in his mind; his father has a scar across his back from it. The primary reason he grew a strong hatred for the ALA was the permanent limp he got became a reason he was teased by other Tajarans his age, as well as his father nearly dying due to shells they fired. Around his early teens Nikit began to show an interest in robotics when he began to tinker with, take apart, and repair the few and rare power tools that his family owned for use in the mines. He got better over time and around age 16 and was able to fix a broken power tool faster than anyone else in his town, often times wasting less materials when he attempted to repair the old tools since they had become the highlight of his day. At age 18 he spoke to the Nanotrasen reps in his town who had noted his experience in repairing and maintaining power tools. They offered to give him a scholarship if he could reassemble an already completely taken apart power drill in working condition within half an hour. A week after he was able to reassemble the drill within the half hour he was given a letter stating that he had been awarded a scholarship to a Nanotrasen approved college or university provided it was related to machines. Nikit chose to get a formal education in robotic engineering and shortly left his home town. Nikit did extremely well due to his hard work and dedication to studying during 8 years of education as to avoid wasting his scholarship. In order to help pay off some of the student debts owed to Nanotrasen Corp he chose to work on the aurora station at a reduced pay rate. He is currently 27 years old. What do you like about this character? I like the opportunities for some unique rp moments that comes with a discomfort around security, either working with at the bare minimum to simply spend as little time with them, or avoiding them all together. I also feel that he will be hard working and might even bond with some of the borgs aboard the aurora station. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I believe my roleplaying ability is very skilled aside from the occasional/rare misspelling. Notes:
