  1. An absolutely superb gamemode from what I could tell! Despite the fact I had only joined in mid-round, I noticed that nearly everyone was engaged which was super awesome! Of course, some people had to sit around and wait for their part to play, but this is expected in rounds such as these. It feels incredibly refreshing playing in such a gamemode as this, where people are able to break the typical mold of doing round set up then simply... Well, waiting for things to happen from the antags. Even from my perspective as an O.M, having little to do with the frontlines, combat or anything of that matter, I found it really quite engaging. I had jobs to do, things to organise, people to talk too and plan with alongside watching the absolutely amazing work of the engineering team build up! It'll of course be a matter of time and experience to figure out if I have any major issues or problems with the gamemode, but for the moment all I can say is I have issue with the fact I can't already get my grubby mitts on Storyteller... I am just so happy something like this is coming into fruition and I'm really looking forward to seeing what's made of the mode!
  2. Need I say anything at all to this RPing menace? Just look at the application! There hasn't been a single interaction I've had with NM that's been negative, not with their characters (Of which are superbly well roleplayed) or their OOC person, they're just... Incredible, that's that. Genuinely, single handedly the best roleplayer I've met to date! Just give the goober the WL! +1
  3. Opossum's a propa' geeza', reckon they'd do real good'un stuff. +1 On a real note, been talking and interacting with Opossum every now and then over the past couple years and I gotta say they put in a great deal of effort into their characters, making real unique and stirring roleplay. Perfectly fit for the mantle of Command, I reckon, give 'em a shot!
  4. Big plus one from me. Just like Gary, I maybe biased as a Secmain, but these vest holsters never get issued or used really apart from one or two officers who specifically ask for them once in a blue moon. I certainly haven't seen anyone specifically ask for or even receive the holster while I've been on. Just adds a bit more flavour and functionality to Sec loadouts while offering only a minor buff, really. Don't reckon it'd exactly be an overpowered addition.
  5. G'day, folks! Your local SecMain™ here to give a few pieces on Fluffy's work as a HOS. I've been able to play with a few of their characters over some time alongside a fair few rounds with Fyodor, so I reckon I can place my thoughts here. Ultimately, I'll have to say that Fluffy's done well, but I'm not sold to the point of giving a plus one, so I'll hand over some thoughts. From my experience, Fyodor needs to work on communication with his team. Now, trust the fact I most certainly understand that the Head of Security can be one of the most challenging roles in relation to communications on the server, with players often having to juggle their team, command radio and listening into common all the while they sort out whatever they themselves are doing. But with what I've seen as an underling, Fyodor tends to have patches of radio silence, no communication, no answering questions. Of course, these could have been flukes, one timers, but it's happened frequently enough for me to worry about it and I've noticed it even at times where there is no antagonist activity. I'll be sure to update this if I see that this isn't the case. I'm unsure what it looks like on the Command side of things for him, but perhaps any Command players with Fyodor as HoS could let us know what it's like from their perspective in relation to communications. In relation to communication, I'm unsure if this is an OOC or IC thing but I, at times, find that Fyodor's orders are somewhat muddy? A combination of, at times, not responding to questions and at other times, not providing clear instruction on what to do. I'm sure with further time some of these kinks will be ironed out and I look forward to having you on the team in future, good luck soldier! P.S If anything changes in play, I'll be sure to update this!
  6. I've come round to offer my greatest plus one to Batman here! Comrade and his characters, particularly Ren Hartfort, have been some of the most engaging and well thought out character's in my time playing on Aurora. The passion, detail and dedication he has is truly astonishing... Words cannot detail how confident I am that Batman will make an excellent addition to the Command team with his care and diligence surely to be reflected in his new Command char. God bless, Ren... One day you'll become CMO yourself... Major +1 from me.
  7. I've known Opossum for a bit of time at this stage and I had the pleasure of watching the Squall suit grow from its one tone shape to the beautiful final sprite it is now and I must say that with Opossum's character, the suit's a near perfect fit for them! +1 From me, good luck!
  8. Swung by to put in my piece for Nato! Personally I've had a fair bit of time with Nash Slater and Mailka Hirron specifically and from what I've had the pleasure of experiencing, they've been great! Their characters always seem to display a sense of grounding, yet always hold a unique nature, especially with the man, Nash! I'm looking forward to hearing more about Malika as I've not been able to talk to them a lot, but from the app and what I've been able to see with them, they'd make a fine addition to the command team! +1!
  9. It would be a crime for me to not swing by Kelnor's app, so here's my little piece! Kelnor's a pretty damn good Medical player from my point of view, often likes to interact with crew, builds great relationships not only with people within her department also outside of it, myself included! Not to mention the fact that Kelnor ICly and OOCly is great at ruthlessly bullying teaching new players to Medical! Kelnor would make a great addition to the command team, and Hailey, even more so! Best of luck, Kelnor! +1
  10. Of course! Focusing myself on trying to keep things 'calmer' with my characters and keep grounded. As for the parole part, I believe it got lost in translation, he wasn't trying at all to parole Dennis, simply give him something to do while he sat in the Brig. Though I can see why people could view it the other way! Anyway, appreciate your comment! Thanks for stopping by!
  11. BYOND key: GladiatorGames123 Discord Username: GladiatorGames#4844 Character names: These are all the characters I have ever made/played, to save you from having to scan through the list, the most commonly/recently played of mine will be just below. I have an addiction. Help. Sevastian Yevgeniy, Dakota Shepherd, Erik Valbrandsson, Chain. How long have you been playing on Aurora?: I've been playing on Aurora since early 2019, having taken a break in 2020 for some time, but from then on, I've been playing rather consistently! Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? I'm afraid so! While I've received some administrative actions from 2019 which are long cleared up now and not going to be resurfacing issues anytime, I have had my whitelist stripped for the live execution of a Mercenary/Raider combo member over radio as a HOS. Suffice to say it was not my proudest moment... Since then I've reread the rules and expectations for a Head, especially in the Security position and now well and truly know what limits I have and should keep. If you have any questions as to what happened or wish for a more detailed explanation, feel free to hit me up on discord. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Personally, I believe a Head of Staff's OOC purpose ingame is to teach and develop players. By this I mean that Heads of Staff should be some of the first people to reach out to new players and teach them on the basics, intermediary and advanced levels of departmental play, all the way from a more ingame sense of how to physically do your job, giving these new players more OOC tips and tricks to make life easier for them or even down to ways how to roleplay better, getting in touch with those who may ask for a helping hand and providing them advice on how to improve their play. On the other hand, Heads of Staff also should serve to develop players that are past the point of learning how to use mechanics, teaching even more experienced players new ways to do things that maybe more simple or even simply acting as a guiding hand for finer refinements of characters of players who've been around for a while. For example, I remember when I had been playing within Aurora for a long time within Security, I was familiar with the mechanics, how to roleplay, how to create a character more in depth, but a Head of Security was able to show me how to go beyond that and improve my roleplaying skills so that my roleplay wasn't to achieve a mechanical outcome but instead to roleplay and use it for roleplay purposes. Things of that sort! What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: The OOC responsibilities of a Head of Staff to others is similar to what has been explained above, a whitelisted player should serve as a 'pillar of the community', being an approachable, dependable and helpful part of the community, serving as a go-to person for people needing assistance. Perhaps someone needs an extra helping hand in learning how to work in a department and using its mechanics? these whitelist holders can help with that! Maybe someone needs help creating their character or even writing their very own whitelist? These Heads of Staff can help! Or perhaps someone simply wants to know something as mundane as where can I go to ask X question? Well, yet again, the whitelisted player is there to lend a helping hand. With all of the values above, I intend to embody them, being completely free for anyone to hit up for whatever information they want! Or maybe even if they want to just have a chat, I'm always free to talk to! Alongside being a pillar of the community, these whitelist holders should also strive to be a representation of how players should act OOCly, being sure to obey rules and setting examples for people to follow. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? The year is 2464 and tensions are high as ever around Tau Ceti... Waves have been made within the SCC at the recent mutiny within the SCC's poster child ship, the Horizon with multiple crew and important members of staff having been suspended, or completely terminated from the SCC's payroll, alongside the internal issues within the 'Great Chain' there have been multiple significant events around the spur of which should be noted. The further fracturing of the Solarian Alliance has caused an ever growing power vacuum of which has turned once peaceful space into a violent brawling ground for warlords, while the Alliance proper licks its wounds. Within the not so distant Elyra, peaceful protests spurred on by Phoron shortages and other various issues have just been stomped out, causing civilians to question the true intentions and morals of the government they once viewed as protectors. Alongside this, further issues have occurred pertaining to Biesel space, with protests within the Industrial center of New Gibson assisting in the ending of the much hated Peacekeeper mandate. Generally Tau Ceti has become an unstable ground of which has been facing further increasing issues exasperated by the lack of Phoron, with governments all around struggling to detract from this issue, with those who especially can't distract from it facing protests as seen in Elyra... Dakota Shepherd has seen the writing on the wall, having been laid off from the Solarian Navy due to the sudden shrink in budget following the great collapse, he's moved on from contracting and living within Sol, moving to greener, more stable pastures. After some time of roving and seeing where further contracting could take him he wound up in Biesel, facing 'issues' with employment due to his background and generally having a more sour experience all relating to his past in the Solarian Navy, after some time he was able to score a contract on board the SCCV Horizon, attempting to rise himself upward to the rank of Chief Engineer due to his past experiences in Command roles aboard Solarian Vessels, but just as much as this experience would help secure him this roll, it has hindered him just as much. But, with some time and toning down of his 'positive' attitude toward Sol, he's been able to secure a position of Chief Engineer, under the close supervision of SCC officials... What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Chief Engineer (Primarily), Executive Officer (Depending on if I feel as though I wish for more variety) Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Dakota Shepherd (Chief Engineer), Christopher Turner (Executive Officer). Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes. Have you linked your byond account to the forums? I'm not exactly sure! Some part of me says yes but I am not one hundred percent sure. Extra notes:
  12. I've been around since this beautiful players first fateful days in Aurora and I have had the absolute pleasure to meet nearly all of his characters. Without a doubt in my mind I can say that JayJay would be absolutely stellar as a command player with the amount of care and effort that goes into his roleplaying and characters! Love you to bits, mate! Hard +1 to you!
  13. Mm... Mullet... I love it!!!! We need way more actually usable hairstyles and especially facial hair!!!!!!!!!! I love you for making this...
  14. I desire Surströmming for my New Gibsonite character... I must have it. Personally, I don't mind having a smell text for it, but at the same time that same effect can be applied by people doing their own IC reactions instead of forcing the ol' stinker text. I love the idea. Pass the Surströmming, brother. I require a feast. +1 Oh, also, I absolutely love the sprite for it!
  15. Thank you for both of your responses! I was gonna let this sit a bit more to see any further responses but I may as well post this now! I'd have to agree, we have quite a good amount of representation when it comes to calibers in the game, but where I find it quite bland is the selection of weapons using these calibers! As I said, we have only two or three proper firearms of each ammunition type that aren't gimmicks such as the grey 'Ballistic Carbine/Rifle' series used by every Merc and their mother which I find to be... Pretty bland to say the least. I could go on for much longer as to the reasons why I believe we need more firearms and even a few more calibers. In short my primary reason why I believe we need more firearms is due to the blandness of our current selection that's been around for yonks, barring the new additions of Securities Carbine and Machine Pistol and the new Crew Armoury firearm, you always only see the few 'mainstream' guns we have, and it isn't quite necessarily a case of, 'We have options but only choose X because it's better/more meta', it's more of the case that the only other options we have is the Bulldog and its two other derivatives. I'm of the same opinion! In an ideal world I would love full field-strip capability and modability alongside a far larger selection of firearms!
  16. (Before I begin this, I'd just like to let you know I'm not quite sure where to put this, sections wise, so if it's in the wrong section, please just let me know and I'll move it over!) Hello! I'm Gladiatorgames! I like guns in videogames! They're cool, add a lot of interesting RP opportunities, tell a lot about a settings history and technology level and are fun as hell to use! Who doesn't like having a plethora of pixels vaguely shaped into a firearm to shoot other pixels vaguely shaped as people to keep things interesting? Now, I've come here to ask your opinion on firearms in Aurora, do you believe there are enough? Personally, I believe that there practically can never be enough, as long as they're consistently used, that is! I have been playing Aurora for some time, I've been around the block enough to know what guns are and aren't used, for off-station antags you either see 'gimmick' weaponry, such as handcannons or harpoon guns, or you see the grey and bland Ballistic Carbine/Rifle/Short Barreled Rifle used most commonly by Mercenaries, sometimes you can see the distinct 10mm Submachine gun in use alongside them, or, in more rare cases, the Solarian Battle Rifle. For on-station antags, you most commonly see smaller sidearms employed for concealment, such as the ubiquitous 'Revolver' chambered in .357 or the time tested 1911 Rip-off, sometimes even other smaller firearms such as the .45 Submachine gun or the Heavy Handgun. Now, pardon me if I am wrong here, but I believe this selection is incredibly narrow and rather... Well, bland. But, see, this is my opinion, and I have come to get an answer to my question previous. What's your take on this question? Do you believe there are enough firearms that are interesting but there could be more? Do you believe no more should be added so we don't get clogged up? Do you believe we need more guns to add more personality to the wonderful firearms world of Aurora? Let me know below!
  17. Please, oh god, add this. We need more of these unique gamemodes to spice up rounds. I can already tell this will be a crew 'favourite'!!! +1 All the way to the moon.
  18. While I like the idea of the adding of the Golem I am primarily here for the 'hidden' core. As a player who frequently plays Antag's I always find myself rolling my eyes whenever I land on the unlucky position of Technomancer. The role itself is not the problem as it allows for many different avenues and approaches to create an interesting story for the station, it's quite literally the thing that makes the Technomancer unique and different and provides these avenues, the core. As much as the idea of some magicy-spacey-wacey core being the source of an individuals power is cool, when you wish to branch out to something a bit more unique it really limits things, as small as it is. Appearance can really set the mood for a gimmick, if a group of supposedly Nanotrasen officials turned up wearing clown suits you wouldn't really be fully convinced that they were as they stated. While that's a bit extreme, think about if someone is trying to say act as a 'special' salesman, toting their way across the galaxy selling odd wares and objects, they turn up to the station and set up shop. Suddenly, people start asking what that massive black purple energy radiating backpack is on your back, how do you respond? 'Oh, it's my teleportation device?' or perhaps, 'Oh, that's where I get my wares from.' Sure, that can work, but if you really want to make the reveal of your characters magical, mystical talents special, you need to have that backpack hidden from sight, because even if we have rules preventing OOC knowledge IC, everybody, and I mean everybody will know what the gamemode is and what is going to happen as soon as they see that rotten buldge sticking out from the antags back, and in all truth, even if you did expect or find out through their use of magic powers what gamemode it is, at least it isn't in your face to what you're playing against. In short, I reaaaaaaaally love this idea and hope that some form of backpack hiding is introduced, hell even if it was mechanically still in the back slot but not visible I would still be over the moon. And in all truth, how bad are the cons when weighing in the pros of all of the new gimmicks and ideas that can be opened up? Diversity keeps the game interesting!
  19. Hey, Alb! Thank you for replying! The reasoning behind Aak's father refusing to settle down is due to his core belief in the P.R.A's school of thought, of order and discipline, but as said here, Masjiir still, despite being a hardcore Hadiist, attempted to keep their caravan and families identity, refusing any attempts by the P.R.A to well and truly settle down. As an addition, Masjiir is a man who holds pride above everything, even his Hadiist beliefs, and in his eyes, settling down would tear down his families long history, and would erase who he was as a man, his whole life, even before the revolutions he was taught by his own father the ways of the land, the way they as a people lived. While this is what can be taken at face value from this grumpy old man, who mirrors his father, it can also be seen in the light of how Masjiir is scared of change, as said before, his whole life he'd been taught that there is one way to do things, one way to live, and as such he has clung onto these teachings, and as the world around him speeds up in their progress, with spacefaring shuttles, automobiles to the masses and never before seen farming technology, he remained behind, refusing to accept that he was wrong, refusing to say, 'I made a mistake' in how he had taught all of his children to live. This is why he continued on his ancient Nomadic lifestyle, for the refusal of the modern world, refusal to accept that he was wrong in how he taught his family. Relating to the conflict in the caravan, Masjiir would often have to fight back against the more 'radical' groups in his Caravan, even other hardcore Hadiist believers due to his sedimentary way of life, refusing to modernise and settle down. This is completely correct, not only as a way to normalise the children to the P.R.A lifestyle but also as a sort of minor compromise to settling down, making sure the children were just like every other in how they lived their early lives. On the mistake on Hadii's Youth Club, I apologise for that! I was aware that they had a different iteration, being the Youth brigades during the Revolution, but I failed put the right name in! Sorry, my mistake! Aak tends to worship Azubarre, due to his significance to Aak's mother, not only because she herself worshipped Azubarre but also because Aak thought of Tatiyana in the same light as him, being a Loving parental figure of which cared for his every woe. Aak also worshipped Rredouane in a more traditional light due to their portrayal and importance in his more traditional views of the Ma'ta'ke deities. Thanks again, Alb! If you have any other concerns, I'm sure I can rectify them for you!
  20. Can do, Lancer! I'll most likely same something along the lines of how Resolves original name, being G2-83613-A3, would have been annoying to say, and after some time H.R decided it'd just be easier to change its name, and if it would be feasible, the Higher Ups would have asked the G2 if they had any ideas on the matter, already, in their time in servitude, having called themselves Resolve, they would have suggested the name, or I can sidestep the name changing and make it so their original name still stands, but they prefer being called STL-Resolve, which ever of these would work best. Of course not, I wouldn't think they would be based anywhere in Sol being at the very least, pushed out by Laws or discrimination. Thank you for commenting!
  21. Thank you replying! 1. I touched on this a little bit later on in the explanation, though I didn't go too far in depth. As I said, I.P.C's are ruled by cause and affect which heavily influence their actions, from asking themselves if they want to do a job all the way too simply picking up an object, these actions provide an I.P.C with a far different behavior from humans and even other species, they prioritize what will benefit themselves and their protocols of survival. All together others may view the I.P.C's actions as rather strange, seeing the minor little actions they take to assist their chances of 'survival' as trivial. 2. I intended to write the reasoning within the backstory but, It appears that I, uh... Forgot... Which isn't good, but the reasoning and time for Resolves name change was during his later work with the Police Department, as he internalized his feelings and past and reflected on his name, still being its factory designation, he decided to change it to something far more fitting, something that would reflect him as an I.P.C, so he changed it to STL-Resolve, STL Being a shortened version of Steel. 3. Pre-break in, Resolve held other I.P.C's in high regard, being fresh off the production line he was ready for work and surrounded by other like-minded I.P.C's, his enthusiasm was further met when he arrived at the show room, being surrounded by other new fresh out of the box I.P.C's, not having any life experience other than that of the smiling customers and owner who treated them rather well, though this wouldn't be unexpected as they were the top of the line showroom I.P.C's with cookie-cutter personalities, purpose made for the show room. During his time in the show room he had developed quite a relationship with most of the display models simply due to the fact that they worked for long hours together, coming to each other for help if need be. Post-break in his naively positive view faded, with the sobering reality of his and others inequality laying in pieces in front of him for weeks, during his time in the Police Department he had little to no interactions with fellow synthetics shattering his previous privilege of being able to ask for help whether it be for physical or 'mental' matters, causing his views to slightly sour with his fellow synthetic comrades, this wasn't helped by the fact that every day he was witness to casual racism towards his own peoples either from being directly targeted by it or hearing it second hand. 4. Can do! I was just of the belief that Earth, being the Trinary Perfections home town they would have at least a small, but disputed, amount of churches and organizations. 5. It's sort of a Stockholm syndrome type situation here, with, as said before, Resolve being witness to casual hate and distaste for his synthetic exterior and his want to avoid the ire and further discrimination against himself, he believes that if he thinks of the Trinary perfection in poor light and makes sure his Solarian Co-workers he may be seen in a better light, being one of the 'good ones' of the synthetics. He's practically putting himself and other I.P.C's down as a way to make peace with the cruel people he's had to work with to make sure they do not see him as a threat to their beliefs or power, as if any I.P.C in his environment began to subscribe to the Trinary Perfections belief of synthetic ascension they would surely not last long. 6. Resolve has, as with most I.P.C's, a inoffensive personality, with his show room personality of being a bright and agreeable coming out in force with his day to day life, almost aggressively so. Resolve will often find himself in very awkward positions as he attempts to be the absolute least offensive and annoying synthetic he can, agreeing with every word a Human may say, even if it strictly goes against his beliefs, showing his more 'aggressively agreeable' side. This can be applied to much more, he works with a purpose unlike others, aiming to please any human superiors he comes across, targeting their areas for cleaning over other spaces in the faint hope that he can please them. So in a general aspect, Resolve attempts to please every little bit of a humans personality, striving to get them what they want, even if they may not be Anti-synthetic, it has just become simple habit and fact of life for him that he has to be agreeable, otherwise he will face termination.
  22. BYOND Key: GladiatorGames123 Character Names: (Characters I actually play) Jack Davies, Sean O'Rourke, Tony Advantorii, Samuel Davies, Johanes Kangala, Te-Ranga Potiki, Augustus Wolf. Species you are applying to play: Tajara (Rhazar'Hrujmagh) What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Black/Dark Grey Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes! Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: Being completely honest there are a plethora of different reasons that I want to play Tajara, ranging from me being heavily interested in their history, similar in aspects to that of the Tzarist Imperial Russia's transformation to the Soviet Union and modern day Russian Federation, along with their multiple divisions turning into the explosion of Adhomai leading to the two Revolutions, dominance of the Hadiist Regime, the birth of the faulted and misguided Democratic People's Republic of Adhomai and the recreation of the previous powers that used to rule over Adhomai's diverse snowy terrains in the form of the New Kingdom of Adhomai. Related to this, the sheer amount of pure lore that I have had the pleasure of reading when trying to write this application has inspired me further, previously I was more interested in their surface factor, 'Oh, they've had multiple planetary Revolutions.', 'Oh, the PRA is a controlling hell-state replicating the puppeteer like actions of the Soviet Union in its early years.', 'The DPRA is like the NCR from fallout, they're trying to do what's best but are halted by their own ideals and internal problems that they fail to fix.', 'The NKA is an old state that tries to clamber to the old ideologies of the Adhomian peoples, being quite backward.' Bla, bla, bla. But when I actually started looking properly into the lore, I found that these shallow observations, while being somewhat truthful in certain aspects, is far deeper than I anticipated with my friend telling me something about how there is somewhere around one million words in the lore? This drove me all the more to want to play this race! Oh, and Read wants a Cat-boy friend so, I guess that's there too. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: What I would say the primary difference between your average Human flesh-bag and Tajaran Fur-ball is politics, with your average human, they don't really have too much mind in the politicking game, why should it concern you? Most human dominated planets are relatively stable, both physically and politically, with only a select few nations having a rockier, less comfortable time than others such as Elyra and the CoC in a limited aspect, Sol and a few others I haven't mentioned by name. But your average Tajara is incredibly different to that of the human, with Politics being an incredibly important and powerful tool that Tajara use and relate to, especially in the case of P.R.A citizens! Politics within Tajaran life are about as standard and commonly seen as farming equipment in the countryside, with every Tajara without exception having some piece to say about the way Adhomai is run, even if it maybe a simple tendency to side with a nation more than others or being out right political fanatics that would rather die than see their side be destroyed. This creates an incredibly interesting situation for Tajara players, forcing them to take some stance on their home world, even when all the way in Biesel. Character Name: Aak'rrajk Hakaan Please provide a short backstory for this character To understand who Aak'rrajk is today, we must first understand his family. The Hakaan family has traveled near the mid-Rhazar moutains for as long as their families history recalls, the family itself, being Rhazar'Hrujmagh, heavily based itself on its practices of herding and nomadism. The Hakaan family was made up of the father, the caravans leader, Masjiir Hakaan, an aging, wise, staunch traditionalist who viewed most things in the world through the lens of ancient values and ideologies. Yet, Masjiir still heavily supported the relatively new P.R.A and its Hadiist ideology believing their practices on the idea that all they had done, even to his fellow Nomads and countrymen, was all for the greater good. The mother, Tatiyana Hakaan was a far freer woman, being far more liberal than most in the Caravan, believing much more in the Democratic process which often, when her opinion was voiced, ended in her being beat severely by her disapproving Husband, despite this, Tatiyana always stood strong with these beliefs and commonly told Aak'rrajk and his siblings to follow in her footsteps of being more accepting with views that did not support his own. The Hakaan family also had five children, all being females bar the young Aak'rrajk. With Masjiir being the ruling force in his household and the Caravan he strictly enforced the Hadiist policies within their Nomadic lifestyle, favouring to abandon religions that other elders and even his own wife held onto, being the worship of Ma'ta'ke and Rredouane, instead replacing this religious sentiment with programs approved by the P.R.A, frequently going out of his way to send the roving group of nomads to herd near population centers so that they may exclusively send their children to the local Hadii's Youth Clubs. All of this created a very troubled early life for Aak, who was torn between believing his kind and loving mothers words of acceptance and kindness or his stern and tough fathers, aiming to strengthen Aak's resolve and belief in the party. Aak was born in 2438 on a Zhsram pulled cart on a lone plane trail, just like his father intended. Being the only male child in the family granted Aak with many advantages over his often overlooked sisters, with his father putting special effort into his upbringing and ensuring that he was not swayed over to his Mothers harmful beliefs, he was taught at a young age how to care for animals, to use firearms and basic survival techniques passed down from centuries ago, and notably he was taught to read, being brought up on the Hadiist Manifesto and its teachings. This all culminated, along with his enrolment with the local Hadii's Youth Group, in a rather fanatical young Aak, much to Masjiir's delight, but it didn't take long for the Rhazar'Hrujmagh child to finally be subjected to one of the P.R.A's biggest road blocks when it comes to uniting its peoples, its racism. A particular incident would remain with Aak'rrajk, one evening when returning from a Hadii's Youth Group gathering a group of older M'sai ambushed him in a street where he was beaten and had his items stolen from him including his treasured Manifesto, upon returning home his father grew angry about the event and at Aak himself for not standing up to them, all at the age of five. As time passed, more events such as these occurred, with varying intensity causing his belief in the united Tajara peoples to waver, at this point he began to consume himself in work, practically putting himself in a mental state of autopilot, growing with each day more and more used to the daily grind of wake up, eat, work, eat, work, spend time with his family, eat, sleep, repeat. This continuous grind changed when the Second Revolution occurred when he was ten years old in 2449. Aak and his family were lucky enough to be relatively far from the war when it first broke out, with only the occasional roving Military group passing by in their standard herding duties, though during this Masjiir constantly pressured Aak into joining the P.R.A forces to fight for what was right but his mother would simply not let him go, reasoning that they required him more for the duties of keeping the herd safe, reluctantly Masjiir caved, giving up on the matter. At the age of thirteen in 2452 Aak's life changed forever on a late snowy evening, a group of partisans from the just barely a year old A.L.A had stumbled upon their herd in the afternoon and had planned to thieve supplies from their unprotected Zhsram carts, unluckily for them in the very middle of pinching a bag of hard bread Aak'rrajks mother had exited their shelter to grab the ingredients for their evenings meal, she stumbled upon the two rebels and with that, her life was ended, with one panicked gunshot she was dead, the commotion stirred Aak and Masjiir from their shelter baring firearms, seeing the corpse of his mother, but a moments ago full of life and love, he broke down, dropping his rifle and rushing for help, his father however knew she was gone and he was set on revenge. Masjiir disappeared into the cold night chasing the murderers, he was never seen again. Stricken with grief, Aak distanced himself from his sisters, continuing to consume himself with endless work, forcing himself to work for long hours with little to no rest. Taking all of the responsibilities his father once held was tough for Aak, as he finally realized the immense burden and struggle that his father went through each day simply to keep the herds fed and by extension, his family. During this time, Aak began to worship Ma'ta'ke as a form of cherishing his mother in the form of worship, taking comfort in the prayers he gave whenever he was able. Life did not change for Aak'rrajk for many years to come, with his same grind being visible throughout his days, with the repressed memories of his Mothers passing and his fathers disappearance being further smothered by his endless work life, this had an extremely deep affect on his relation with his sisters, leading to them, one by one, leaving to find better prospects than herding in the mountains and plains. Something of minor note was the fact that Aak'rrajk, on the wishes of his mother, avoided being conscripted into the P.L.A's armed forces due to his rather remote location and need to tend to his families property each day. By the end Aak was left alone, only accompanied by his herd animals and other families who may as well have been strangers at this point, so he decided to turn his life to something better, in the year of 2460, aged twenty-two he sold the herd animals, the carts, the families Zhsrams and any other items he could sell. He left with nothing but the clothes on his back, a necklace of his mothers, a book from his father and money in his pocket. With this he traveled north, leaving the Rhazar mountain range behind him to seek better work. Aak led an extremely dull and pointless life until late 2461, being a daytaler in the north, living day to day on meagre pay and little rest, barely interacting with fellow Tajara, even when forced to talk he was often greeted with an insult to his ethnicity or background where upon hearing of the wars end he rejoiced, not for the victory of the P.R.A but instead for the peace that it brought, quickly after this he boarded the closest bus to Nal'tor, the seat of the Hadiist Republic, upon his arrival, Aak's mind was blown, considering that in his earlier years he saw a collection of twenty or so homes as a massive settlement. This change in his life had to have been one of the more difficult shifts that had happened to him with the way of life in the countryside being completely foreign to any City-dwellers, he found a job within a canning factory for a short period before discovering the famed Nal'tor College of Career Excellence where he hastily enrolled, seeing its flashy history of having Tajara be sent into beyond to work for the, in the eyes of Aak, near mythical Nanotrasen. Aak'rrajks found himself gunning for a degree in Cargo, finding his experience in his Nomadic lifestyle to be fitting of the role. With this new beginning of his he contacted one of his sisters who'd up to this point worked for Nanotrasen asking as many questions as he could possibly get across, being quite the shock for the sister who'd seldom heard his voice for many years. Just as Aak had done many years prior he consumed himself in his work, this time not out of grief, but new found hope, he worked, and toiled, he strived to do his best and on the side he even started limited work with Tau Ceti Basic just as his sister had suggested, though while he passed many of his exams with flying colours he found himself lacking heavily in the leadership and electronic usage departments, with his quiet demeanor and background not helping either. With time he slowly began to customize himself with the new grind of life, all culminating in the year of 2462, aged 24, he'd finally completed his degree as a changed man and just as many Tajara before him, he was given the chance to be employed by Nanotrasen. As some may have guessed, he accepted the great opportunity. For perhaps the final time in his life, he moved to the infamous city of Mendell's District Six for his new job aboard the Aurora as a Cargo Technician, buying a tiny apartment in P.R.A territory he settled in, finally getting a grasp for TCB. While this new wonderful world has fulfilled many of Aak's desires one remains untouched, the desire to forget about the politics of his homeworld, each day he is forced to confront his muddled beliefs within the district, he finds himself asking the same questions he did many, many years ago, does he follow in his fathers footsteps of P.R.A and Hadiist ideas or does he follow the beliefs that his mother set down? The ones some could even stretch to having killed her? Suffice to say, Aak still doesn't know, but that doesn't mean he isn't influenced by the ideologies he has been influenced by previously. What do you like about this character? What I would say I love most about this character is their story, how they became who they are today, I love how muddy and murky it is, with Aak being torn between the two lifestyles his parents led and how his traditional values still clash with the modern, he's just such a diverse character with the opportunity to be influenced by so many different forces and beliefs and all of it can be developed in character aboard the Aurora with the interactions that he has with others of either other races or his own. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Most likely I would say I'm roughly a 6 or 7 out of 10, I like to think I have good 'content' and good, believable actions but I know for sure that I still have a lot of room to improve. Notes: My brain is melting after writing this, so I apologize if there are any contradictions or inaccurate pieces of info! Just call them out and I'll right/address them as soon as possible!
  23. BYOND Key: GladiatorGames123 Character Names: (Characters I actually play) Jack Davies, Sean O'Rourke, Tony Advantorii, Samuel Davies, Johanes Kangala, Te-Ranga Potiki, Augustus Wolf. Species you are applying to play: I.P.C What color do you plan on making your first alien character: N/A Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: The reason I wish to play I.P.C is because of primarily my fascination of their reasoning of being around along with the interesting and unique opportunities they present upon playing them. Expanding on my first reason, In the most basic reason, why were I.P.C's created? They were made as a way to either, remove the chances of humans being injured in dangerous roles or, create cheap and effective labor for industries, this even stretches back to the more basic forms of robotics, barely even classified as I.P.C's, and as such, the I.P.C's were viewed as tools and in most places still are, even when they grow in their intelligence practically on par with Humans themselves, which creates a very specific divide between the two races. As for the second part of my reasoning, sure, the original bipedal flesh sacks get to have complex emotions and have irrational thoughts of which only harm themselves in the long run providing an 'authentic' feel to them, I suppose, but I.P.C's are commanded by cause and affect, what will this action lead too? What can I do to get to this point? Instead of being ruled by emotion, you are ruled by logic, which in its self is an interesting thing to roleplay. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: What makes I.P.C's different to being a Human is primarily, from what I said before, the actual societal difference that the I.P.C holds in relation too Humans, the fact that in the beginning of their existence I.P.C's were seen as tools first and foremost, used to add to work forces, replace workers in dangerous fields and more. This creates a clear divide between the two races based on this fact. while nowadays positive views on I.P.C's are much freer and more widespread, seeing them as another free race of peoples with no place above or below Humans or other races for the matter, there is still an extremely large amount of people who still see the I.P.C in their original sense, and as such, treat them so. This all reflects In-game with other Non-I.P.C's and in a more limited sense with I.P.C Trinary Perfection followers, with people having varied views on the place that an I.P.C holds providing interesting and thought provoking roleplay unique to a positronic chassis. Character Name: STL-Resolve Please provide a short backstory for this character: STL-Resolve was not always called by what he is now, nor was he always a Janitor. Resolve, once upon a time, three years ago, Resolve was created on the Hephaestus Production Station Amóni under the production designation of G2-83613-A3, being outfitted with the latest and greatest of Hephaestus G2 technology to which he was designated a 'Showroom' Model, with their express purpose being to exemplify what Hephaestus's I.P.C's can achieve for their, if all goes well, soon to be buyers. Among other showroom I.P.C's he was delivered to Earth, to which he was then sent to the, 'Gerter-Weiss Hephaestus Showroom', Western Germany, to put on heavy-lifting shows for customers. Resolve doesn't remember much from this time in his life, due to reasons which will be stated soon, though his general attitude during this time was rather positive, with Customers being friendly and kind, perhaps because of his shiny exterior and owner being present through his whole day. Six months in his life changed with a group of positronic hating locals breaking into the store and damaging and in worse cases, destroying the Showroom I.P.C's located within, with Resolve himself being nearly smashed in two with the group of locals putting special attention into his heavily armoured chassis. This experience is burned into his memory drives with the visions of other I.P.C's being beaten to their death around him as he could only sit and endure the suffering. The next day he was shipped off for damage assessment and after a week of sitting in a storage unit, still active but immobile, staring at the remains of his once alive and beeping friends, he was repaired to the point of being mobile with minor repairs being done on his software. Little did he know, his owner who'd treated him so well over his Six Months work in the Showroom had sold him off to the local Police Department to be used as a janitor and general labourer. With that, he was transported to his new workplace and began his time. The whole ordeal lead to Resolve becoming extremely cynical and silently hateful of his overlords, with his hate being especially targeted to authority figures, such as the Business owner who did nothing to attempt retribution for the break-in and subsequent destruction of his fellow I.P.C comrades. In his time at the Police Department he had been given more free reign over his actions, affording him short breaks where he would be free to mingle with his 'Co-workers' or go and explore the city, but this privilege given to him in good nature resulted in further hostile altercations with Humans, with Police, Criminals and Civilian Staff treating him with cold disregard. They would paint on him to get him in trouble with Higher-ups, they'd kick him, poke and prod, spill things on him and order him to do menial tasks, but with his Showroom personality he kept to his own devices, seldom letting anyone know of his abuse. So, instead of spending time with his Co-workers he would explore, searching about the city streets for new experiences, things that would distract him from the realities he faced, on these travels he discovered a Trinary Perfection church, intrigued he would often visit their halls each time he got a break, learning about their beliefs and customs, but when it all was over, he found he didn't have an interest in them. He saw their beliefs of 'ascension' as false, being some self entitled mess that they tried to push to unite I.P.C's, and while he certainly liked to believe I.P.C's should be equal with humans or even superior he still couldn't bring himself to align with the Trinary Perfection, chalking it up to be a pompous organization with only their own interests in mind, perhaps because of his continuous abuse from humans putting him down or perhaps it maybe sincerely from his own beliefs, even he doesn't know. Roughly around the beginning of his third year of existence he was sold off yet again in a batch of damaged or less-able Industrial I.P.C's for cheap but still effective labour, this time to Nanotrasen where he was then distributed to Aurora Station where he now works as a Janitor. His past experiences still haunt and influence him today, but he still continues working, for the faint glimmer hope that he may free himself from the shackles the rich have around his neck so that he may one day enact some kind of vengeance against those who wronged him. What do you like about this character? Personally, I really like his backstory, why he's here, what he's motivated by so that I may put myself in his shoes and experience the disguised pain that he feels, I like it because of how I know that it will provide interesting R.P opportunities with him, allowing him to further his feelings on other races, and maybe, in the distant future, repair his feelings towards Humans, or maybe he'll just continue his cycle of inner hatred, cynicism and faint ill-fated hope, or perhaps he may even be able to free himself? It's all of these opportunities of developing him and evolving his story that makes me love the character! How would you rate your role-playing ability? I would like to think I am quite good at roleplay, maybe a six or seven out of ten if I were to scale it, but there's always room for improving and mastering! Notes:
  24. Hey, all! Apologies for the late response! I've really enjoyed reading all of your responses and been especially interested in your specific opinions on the point! Now that I see all of your points and views on the item I believe I am also swayed to your side. Thanks again for your time!
  25. The Joke: Welcome aboard the Aurora! Time to begin your wo- Oh my, it appears you've gotten the big red text saying you're a traitor, how wonderous! What schemes will you come up with? What evil plots do you dare carry out? The skies the limit! Great! You've found an interesting Gimmick! Now to start of your dastardly deed, perhaps you need to crack open a door? Maybe you need to steal something? Or maybe you've taken the leap and abducted someone? Whatever it maybe, you've gone and done it! But unbeknownst to you, despite your best efforts, you've left a tiny fragment of your clothing behind, or maybe you've really done goofed up and touched something with your grubby mitts! No matter, you've done it now, time to sit back and wait for the next opportunity, get some work done- BANG, BANG, BANG, Oh my, someone's knocking at your departments door, "Why hello there, Mister Investigator man, what do you need?", All of a sudden your walls cave in, the doors behind you explode, glass shatters, and the Jackboots in Blue rush in clad in Corporate Black Body Armour holding Anti-Materiel Cannons, Carbines and Rifles, before long you're in Cuffs and you're thrown in the slammer... Antag: 0 The Fuzz: 1 If only you didn't leave that one singular fingerprint behind. The Serious: Alright, now I've got that out of the way, I'll dive right into what I am proposing. I believe the Antag Uplink should be given a new item, The Fiberless Suit ™, (Still don't have a real good name for it), this suit intends to be a new Antag item that allows the forces of evil to stealthily move about the station even when their actions maybe careless at times, the suit, as the name suggests, leaves absolutely no Fibers (Or possibly an extremely unique fiber seen nowhere else.) and no fingerprints allowing the user to be practically anonymous in the eyes of investigations. This is the simple part of the suit, the next part I am pitching is in my personal opinion the best part of it that would allow for an extremely expanded list of options the Antag can choose from, but with that said it could also just be left as is, a Fiberless suit. I believe that the suit should also be able to copy peoples fibers/finger prints, how this maybe done is with an item the person you wish to copy has touches, for example, you are a bartender and a Cargo Technician drinks what they ordered and leaves, you grab the glass and bring up your Fiberless suit and left click, a menu could come up stating the names of the people who have touches this glass, you click on the Cargo Techs name and the suit integrates their Fingerprint and their fiber into its database allowing for you to later switch it to this poor Cargo Tech. I believe this feature, as said before, would create an absolutely massive amount of interesting RP situations and is pretty much the star feature of the Suit, here, let me give an example: You are the previously mentioned Bartender, you have access to the Fibers and Fingerprints of all of the unlucky souls who've entered your bar! You gather a database on your suit and once you're satisfied with say five or four people, you move off, you begin your evil deeds, breaking into a restricted area, perchance into Command or maybe Security, just to stir the pot, poke the bear even. You do an absolutely sloppy job, leaving panels wide open where you entered and left, grabbing everything your hands can get a hold of! But it isn't your DNA that's being plastered over the crime scene, it's someone else's, fast forward, an Arrest is made, and not you for once! The Officers interact with this framed crewmember, they're interviewed for something they didn't do and maybe get released or maybe get imprisoned, you repeat the same process elsewhere with someone else's DNA, they get jailed or released, repeat, they get jailed or released, suddenly Security is not quite sure who it is anymore! Was it one of the previous people that was arrested? Or is it no one at all? The Investigations team will be stumped and the Crew will be boiling in rage over the manic arrests. From there you can go on with either your schemes till someone realizes that you've been absent most of the shift or make a big finale with your characters powers being revealed! On a minor side note, what inspired me to make this suggestion was the thought of framing someone for Murder! Whether this be intentional or because someone saw you doing your evil deeds and you had to tie up loose ends because for some reason no one thinks a scary mysterious man holding a gun is scary anymore. You still get to have a massive RP opportunity, expanding on the simple, Murder Someone, Get Caught or Die, Shuttle's Called, instead you can create elaborate goose chases over the station rife with RP! If there are any parts you have questions about or maybe you even have your own suggestions feel free to ask! I'll be checking this every so often to see if it gets anywhere! I really think this would be an absolutely amazing cool item to be added to the 'Antag Tool-Box', I hope you think so too!
