  1. Yep, meant just that. I am already doing the records things, but it's doesn't show up on scanners, or the likes.
  2. Mental traumas aren't all about muteness and stuttering. And if they are, they shouldn't. Plus, muteness is already available ingame anyway.
  3. May be a solution. You'd have to argue why your character has the trauma you'd want them.
  4. I'd agree about the speech impeding, however, I'd argue that for some of them, the trauma shouldn't be solely based on speech impedement. The issue here would be with how the trauma is implemented instead of wether we're having it at character creation. Could there be any way of making them canon in another way, then? I do believe that the IC issues on the records are added from in-round. Would it be possible to do the same with mental traumas? This way, we'd have a way to have them while making them rarer and prone to IC justification.
  5. Chocolate-coated peanuts should be a thing, too.
  6. Phobias could be reworked a bit, but I'm not able to give a perfect way to implement them right now. I do think the freeze and being forced to shut one's eyes is a good idea.
  7. Hi. So, I searched the forum and didn't find anything about this. This is just a small suggestion to add the possibility to select some mental traumas afflicted to a character at round start upon creation. Justifying this would not be different than justifying prothesis, through either the headcanon of the character, or through canonization of previous rounds. Of course, all mental traumas shouldn't be available, because a lot of them are grave enough to justify not being employed aboard the station anymore. However, some aren't debilitating enough to justify an intense cure or firing someone. Here's my list, but it might be subject to talk, of course. Phobias. Monophobia, except for miners and xenoarcheologists, that have work outside of the station. Reduced Mouth Coordination. Traumatic Narcolepsy, except for Security and Medical. Inordinate pacifism, except for Security. Concussion. Colorblindess. I'd love to hear your opinion on this.
  8. Crew-antag can get access if they want. The only exception I can see to this are cultists. But traitors have the emag, the toolkit or the skeleton-key multitool (which can relock doors instantly), lings can eat the person with needed access, and the vampire can just ghost to go wherever they want. Big -1 for this. Security has no reason to be able to go to maint. ICly, maintenances are only for engineers. OOCly, if they use it, it's just to powergame.
  9. Oh, speaking of which, I do have a suggestion. Reworking the sleepy ring. It costs more than the parapen and offers no advantages whatsoever. The SolCom Manual has the same kind of issues, iirc. It's the wrestling manual, except it's just weaker.
  10. What about a gun that would change according to the renegade's job? A scientist could get a ray gun. A doctor, a syringe gun. A supply would get a crossbow. And so on.
  11. Speaking of which, why not make them spawn with 1 TC and an uplink with only "renegade items" (like small weapons) ? Makes more sense, and this way, you'd be able to choose what's gonna be their poison.
  12. Looks good to me. In particular, I love the toolbelt addition.
  13. How often is that happening? Because that's something I barely see. I only remember one koi's outbreak gimmick ever. It's not like it's abused every round. Plus, the way xenobotanics is built is one of the most interesting things in science imo. It's actual experimentation and needs trials instead of just being a list of things to do like robotics or RnD are. Doesn't need a change. -1
  14. This wasn't exactly about operating the area like a full member. More something in the likes of a departemental assistant. I'll talk about Research because it's the part I'm the more familiar with. The sec off could be able to know how to split the ressources between RnD and Robotics.
  15. And idea I thrown earlier was to make two slots available per department. One full department security officer, and one cadet. Another thing that seems not to be talked about in here was the fact that departmental security officers didn't need to be gun carriers that fell in a department at random. They could get a basic understanding of the department's field. I am for instance thinking about a medical officer helping with triage, or a science officer watching for your local xenobiologist.
  16. Yep, sounds like an enforced traitor gimmick, but without any uplink.
  17. So what's the difference between a single mercenary spawning on-station and a regular traitor? Anyway, -1 for me. Besides removing the surprise of the antag type (since you'll always get a bit of everything, right?), it compensates by... Nerfing the antags? Sounds more like extended+ or secret- than a "better version" of secret to me.
  18. Yep, I panicked and went too far without proper escalation on this one. I'd understand if this makes it unaccepted.
  19. Hello! thanks for your answer. Agreed with that. I will be active for the next week as a science player. However, please note that I'm not satisfied anymore with my current Xenobotanist (Pritchard) and I'm working currently on a better character for this job I love. I'll edit it when I have the name!
  20. BYOND key: Gromnax Character names: Mostly : Shiri Miko (Detective), Ezechiel Branwen (Paramedic), Osborn Pritchard (Xenobotanist), Dmitry Voronov (Xenobiologist), Ceri Alwenn (Scientist) How long have you been playing on Aurora?: I’ve started to play seriously in here during the beginning of June of this year. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I’d like to play a bit more than the basic roles. I’m far from being interested in everything – I don’t like security as itself, and only play as a detective. And I’m really not good with engineering. However, I now have quite the experience with science and medical and I’d like to go further on these departements. Why did you come to Aurora?: I was playing on a small, non-english speaking server a while ago, but it shut down. I knew someone from Aurora that also was here, and decided to play on their server. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes. As told, I plan on playing RD mainly, and maybe CMO in the future (but not now). I had to read the RD wiki page multiple times for clarification over Research and Development. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? The only I can think of is a bwoink about an inappropriate vampiric screeching at the end of the round. We discussed and settled this on the spot and it didn’t go further than that, so I’d say it wasn’t pretty serious. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: As it’s said in the name, playing a role. The point is to be part of a story built with others, and, if possible, to make said story interesting for everyone. Since we’re on a HRP server, it should be the main focus of any given round. Roleplay asks us to take in consideration a given setting, and to expand it with our own characters. Said characters must stay what they are supposed to be – part of the setting and the story, and not an heroic self insert. Relations should also be a part of building an interesting character, and thus, an interesting story when we play them. However, this might be the hardest part inside Space Station 13 when we’re talking about relations that goes from one round to another. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Heads should be firstly the link between their department and the rest of the station through the Command channel, and secondly to coordinate their own department to be as efficient as possible and to be sure that everything runs smoothly. For the Research Director especially, they should make sure that nothing dangerous leaks out of their department per directive four and should take care of explaning anything abnormal aboard the station. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: As someone who’s been trusted with some roles or species, the whitelisted should give credible roleplay and characters, and not abuse of their new accesses (for heads applications) to grief. Roleplay with them should be enjoyable and, as they are taking unique slots for the round, they should be present and active during said round – in other words, they should not take it for nothing. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? GRAHAM ROSEMOND : After Tau Ceti’s independance, Rosemond had two years to come back to Tau Ceti to get his new citizenship, as someone who was born on Biesel. With the blockus during his studies, he had to work on xenobotany to get his plants to be more efficient and productive, thus NT agreed to finace his researches. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Research Director. I’d like to play Chief Medical Officer in the future, too, but that’s not my priority. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Graham Rosemond, Research Director. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I’ve been roleplaying in many forms and for quite a lot of time. I’ve started with forum roleplay, that helped me with my writing skills, too. I then discovered tabletop roleplay with Naheulbeuk, Call of Chtulhu and Dungeons and Dragons, and had a lot of fun with it. I discovered Space Station 13 when I was looking for a game like Mush: The Dawn, and found it, except unlike Mush, space station 13 focused more on roleplay than gameplay. I enjoyed the idea and decided to jump in with a little non-english server. When it closed, I came here. Some of my characters are created so I could discover a role. But I have some that focus entirely on roleplay, too. The most prominent example is my detective, and I enjoyed playing her a lot – but stopped because I was tired of playing security and wanted to try the other departments. So, about roleplay, I’d say I am quite efficient at it and that I enjoy it. I have lost a few rounds as an antagonist because I wanted to put on a gimmick and, unfortunately, it wouldn’t be taken seriously or even played out by the others, which saddened me. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? I did for the roles I intend to play – Research Director mainly, and maybe CMO in the future. Extra notes: None.
