  1. I'm not sure where the opening frustration regarding the note incident is from. It was apologised for and the notes removed as soon as you mentioned they were private, and brought about some inner staff chat regarding being more careful. Anyway, from my pov: - There was one dude selling drugs and getting high. He tried to sell some guns too at one point, but mainly he was just wandering around asking if folks wanted to smoke. - You had an IPC investigator around with a rifle and armor. Against one dude with no armor and ballistics. - I don't think anyone was shot with a revolver? I have the logs here and looks like that just didn't happen. By this point you were armed up any way with a laser rifle and ballistic armor. - He runs passed you and you shoot him, and then give chase and continue to shoot him. Eventually he fires back. - If you felt the need was so great you, as a Captain, had to grab a rifle and ballistics and go shoot some drug dealer, then you very much could have gotten other people involved and the crew. - Getting into a fight as Captain, the most important person on the ship, should really only be a last case scenario. During the ticket you also stated you didn't really want to deal with this kind of thing during low pop, which suggests to me you kind of just wanted the guy gone. Prior to the fight you were talking about shooting the guy. Leading up to the fight. Before this the guy was just getting high and offering people drugs. This is not really a lethal threat. He runs passed Eleanor's flashbang and you light him up. So far he's not fired a shot. According to him in tickets it was only after you ran after him to hydro and shot him he shot back. Really just isn't needed to man hunt someone as a Captain and blast the dude the second he runs passed.
  2. I don't remember the incident itself given it was 9 months ago. I have a vague recollection you jumped a scientist after emoting 'growls' and then thralled them, but tbh it could just as easily be someone else. However you have a bunch of warnings and notes on poor antag play, specifically poor vamp play. I feel I was justified in the antag ban. I'd have lifted it too if you'd gotten why it wasn't ok rather than going in guns blazing with how shit my decision making is.
  3. Then make a staff complaint lol if you think it was a 'shitty ruling'. Not an unban request. Denied for now.
  4. Heya, So second perma bans are generally forever. However upon thinking about it, I think a perma for this was a bit too much by me at the time, sorry, and looks to me like you know why it was an issue. Stealing stuff was ok tbh, it was more taking apart everything else on your own as that meant other people who turned up the area weren't able to interact with it all. So I'm gonna go ahead and lift this, just bear in mind you're on thin ice so be a 'lil bit conservative until you get into the flow of things.
  5. Application denied for the same reasons as before. Please note you will not be granted a head of staff whitelist again I'm afraid.
  6. I have no issue with chat rp. If people enjoy that, then go for it. More that you're going to struggle for anything more - and new players joining the round to an empty ship because the other 4 are on an expedition will also not be fun. I agree that making expeditions easier would be good (maybe a place to grab things you need and go that's less access locked?) but taking away engineering's gameplay further isn't great imo.
  7. We tried this before and it just murdered high pop engineering counts to the same issue as lowpop. I really don't think balancing around the latter is a good idea as the game is barely playable unless you want chat RP then as is. Which is fine, but doesn't help and just shifts the issue.
  8. I suppose I'm not understanding what your issue here was to the point you dm'd multiple people, including ex-staff, to get their thoughts on something that had nothing to do with them. I don't have any reason to believe you that it was just an unfortunate turn of phrase when multiple people have come forward and said that they were approached by you, which suggests there are a whole bunch more who haven't said anything. This wasn't just being upset in a friend's dms - this was going out of your way to cause issues and encourage others to get involved. Secondly ,you were weird to someone's character. That is not negotiable. You even admit above that you would never say that to the person themselves, but it is somehow okay to do so as a peanut gallery behind their back? It wasn't okay, and it is your responsibility not to go for childish, schoolyard humour around other people you don't know. It is not on anyone else to keep telling you what you're doing is strange and not acceptable. It is not our job as server staff to tell you what is and is not socially acceptable to do to other people at this point, and I'm not sure how to explain to you that calling people's characters hot in deadchat isn't okay. You wouldn't do that to a stranger on the street, so why is it okay here? You have been given far too many chances for me to buy any of these apologetic, 'I didn't know, I didn't mean to' spiel - you are out of the benefits of the doubt. You have one warning and 3 other notes on file for doing childish and creepy stuff. This isn't a one time thing. As for the discord perma - if it was on its own, I would agree it'd be a bit much and not a ban. People mess up sometimes. But with everything else and between how you have been told multiple times to reign it in and stop crossing the line with people, I see why matt placed it. And given I see no way in which your other perma is going to be appealable, and the riling people up, there seems to be no issue with it staying. I don't think you're a creep intentionally, nor maliciously. But I do think you have had too many chances to correct the way you do with other people and it is of both of our opinion that you staying gone is for the best. Going to go ahead and archive this one.
  9. @Yonnimer and I will be taking this. Before I start digging into the complaint itself, why is it you've been approaching people in an attempt to 'rile them up' in regards to Aurora? Your words, specifically.
  10. Since when? If that were so, science wouldn't have been nerfed into the ground. Things are balanced around the lowest common denominator who will abuse them. And no, it wouldn't, because they get banned playing antag as they have no link to the actual game. Encouraging more arcade-y antag rounds is how you end up with MRP, of which there are many servers already. I don't see how pushing in that direction too is a good idea.
  11. No, you need to have logged in a month ago. It doesn't track playtime, it tracks the first time you connected to aurora. This shit happens all the time, we get tickets for it a bunch and fotm hub folks coming to play antag to speed run getting banned is a constant thing.
  12. All this does is encourage hub players to come, flag they want to frag, and then leave to do something else as soon as they don't roll it lol. Really bad idea. Antag fishing is against the rules as is so trying to make it an official thing is certainly a plan. We have bought into 'what about the atags!!!!' for years now and server quality has not improved. If anything, I'd argue it's done the opposite.
  13. Hey, like I said in the other one I asked you to wait 2 months before reapplying as you have yet more notes and stuff about going afk. I've not changed my mind on this, so have another couple of weeks. Please don't reapply before the start of April.
  14. To be clear, are you saying the ban was unwarranted, or do you have an issue with how the ticket was handled, or both?
  15. Heyo. Looks like you got caught in someone else's ban. I'll go ahead and lift it for now.
  16. We already tend to go off the hub during events.
  17. I may be confusing you with someone else. I took a look and can't see anything. That said, your original ban was for going SSD. You've picked up yet more notes for that and a warning since the ban. That you weren't banned for doing so is in the admin's who handled it's choice, but I don't really see any improvement. So I'll be keeping this until you've stopped going AFK a lot, as it's for the original issue. Appeal denied for now. You may reappeal in 2 or so months if you have a clean record by then.
  18. The whole 'you can just make someone your second' thing is not a good argument 'cause like, nobody in the history of the world is ever gonna do that lol. And the whole 'Well the Captain can trample people and it's fine' is not really true. They'll get yelled at by staff in the same way. Players are expected to share and be good to one another oocly over icly, so I really don't think these XO = Do bad things thing is founded. They'd just be removed. For lore, it depends what the lore teams want of course, but I'm not seeing why it would need to be super limited. You might only need PRA cats or something, but that's already a thing - the Horizon is, in the current arc, bettering relations with Tajara, so it really doesn't feel much of a stretch. Ect, ect. I don't think a rename is going to fix that the role is not really needed for anything. Yes, for ship combat it can be okay, but that's a) pretty rare and b) Doesn't really need that much organisation outside of 'you do sensors, you do firing, and hey ops we need some more ammo'. By losing its ties to cargo and now needing to help service which has never really required it, it feels pretty unnecessary to keep around.
  19. So many of these arguments are saying the XO will overstep, trample on others, grab all the attention ect. Firstly we just remove the whitelist then. But also, the Captain is still freely able to do all this. You really need to justify hard as to going against orders via ahelp, so it's not like this would be a new problem. As right now XO is an utterly worthless role, and I think it has a lot of potential as a second. It would also be interesting with the racial stuff if they stayed, as maybe the SCC wants to trial how other races do in command or whatever now that the setting has opened up.
  20. I would like to see this I think. Have changed my mind a little. If people act badly we can press the WL strip button. I think it'd be nice to at least test it out. It feels a lot of the people not wanting certain things is due to assuming people will act poorly. Which is why we have a WL at all - all of these issues could happen from the Captain doing the exact same thing.
  21. Hey, so you were banned for not cryoing a lot by Praete. Given they are unfortunately not staff any more ( : ( ) I will just do it given I reapplied the other ban. Anyhow I'm not against lifting this. However during your last unban appeal, you told me that you don't use a VPN. However it looks like you do? Is there any reason there?
  22. They have a role when there is ship combat + for BCs though, so this surely just pushes them further toward being just paperwork/RP jockeys.
  23. Kind of agree with Garn. You can ask for your notes. If people are so worried and terrified over head staff (both of whom have a track record of generally being very lenient and encouraging us to give people chances) to the point you aren't comfortable, surely you'd also not be comfortable in assuming your grievances would be handled regardless? I feel at some point, people have to just accept that they need to talk to flks I don't feel the massive influx of complaints we'd have to deal with would be worth it, when: - Notes usually don't mean anything. Warnings come before and you can see these. - Issues with them get cleared up very quickly - including the example you were talking about, Sniblet. - There are already ways to get them sent to you. - You can see when we know you are multikeying for evasion as everything gets thrown together in the database. - It's nice to have a place to put things for staff, just for staff, in dealing with folks. Some people are very hostile and you can expect them to be rude, so noting that so we don't get the baby trials to deal with them is good. Some people are very positive and understanding, whilst others need a little more help in explanations - again, we can put it down there. I'm just not sure where this lack of faith is coming from when you can, in real time, see changes going ahead as issues are raised.
  24. How is speaking up about things a risky thing to do? I'd like to see some actual examples of someone who has done so in a kind, thoughtful manner and been punished for it. Usually what people mean when they say it's risky is that they went in guns blaring, were rude to people, and got a light smack for it. Where is the prove for any of these claims? You were not banned for talking your mind. You were banned for breaking rules over and over and over again. I am also not entirely sure what your second post is supposed to be saying. Warnings have been handed out in this very thread for people being rude toward you, Stars - there is not some collective effort here to silence anyone, or this thread would have long since been locked. We have internally discussed removing emotes and they will likely be gone, alongside a thread a player put up. Again, due to the way they were used against you. There are a lot of battle cries over how staff are crushing down the players beneath a boot threatening to murder them if they speak out - but again, where has this happened?
