Species you are applying to play: Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Cream Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Of course Why do you wish to play this specific race: Tajara on aurora have one of the most detailed and interesting histories and lore of any of the races involved in the setting, touching on a large number of interesting ideas, themes, and concepts that other races simply don’t have. My recent reading into the lore along with talking to the tajaran lore team solidified a character concept using these themes and ideas unique to tajaran lore and so I am applying for this whitelist in order to be able to play this character. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: There are several things that make playing a tajaran different from role-playing a human, one of the largest being the history and culture of Adhomai and the tajaran people being vastly different from that of the current human race in Aurora. Having only just reached an armistice to a brutal civil war following an equally brutal previous civil war means that the average tajaran will have been raised and experienced very different life to an average human. Tajaran religion is completely unique compared to human religion and a large part of a majority of tajaran’s lives on the planet which also contributes to them role-playing differently to humans and their faiths. Tajaran culture is also very different and contains ideas not seen in other races, such as the caste system built around the differences present in the biology of the various tajaran ethnicities, such as the intelligence of the njarir leading to their place as leaders in the caste system, or the strength of the zhan giving them a place as manual labourers. Finally, a major difference between a tajara and a humans is their place in the galaxy and Biesel. Humans are the dominant power of the Spur as a whole and also the dominant species in Biesel. Playing a tajaran who is a foreigner to human culture as a whole rather than someone who grew up human leads to very different roleplay. Character Name: Kyrylo Marrkrisya Please provide a short backstory for this character Born in the wake of the First Revolution. Kyrylo’s mother and father were Njarir nobles prior to the First Revolution but had been forced to abandon their estate, titles, and wealth in order to survive the revolutionary war once it came to Amohda. They survived in a rural village by living in poverty under the lie of being descendants of a family stripped of nobility long ago. The family as a whole lived in poverty and fear, suffering heavily from the anti-njarir racism present in post-revolution Adhomai. Living off subsistence farming, Kyrylo worked with his parents as soon as he was able. Despite their situation his father and mother managed to impart on him basic literacy, whilst his father taught him about his birthright, culture and swordsmanship in secret when possible, along with imparting his own faith in the ma’ta’ke pantheon, specifically Rredouane to the young Kyrylo. The small family managed to survive in poverty, obscurity and fear until the onset of the second revolution around 17 years after Kyrylo’s birth. With the NKA rising up in the north Kyrylo’s father saw the chance to restore the monarchy in his own home of Ahmoda. Leaving his wife behind he took Kyrylo with him to fight against the PRA and Kyrylo himself was more than eager to fight for glory, fortune and his birthright. Meeting with a group of mainly loyalist m’sai, but also some njarir and even hharar and zhan, armed with weapons left over from before the first revolution and swords characteristic of Amohda. They formed a guerrilla force with the aim of fighting the PRA that occupied Amohda, integrating the traditional sword-fighting techniques of Amohda into irregular ambush combat. Kyrylo killed his first PRA soldier shortly after in a raid on a supply caravan, earning his fathers earnest approval. A year after however the situation became far more chaotic on the Island, with the assassination of Hadii and the uprising of the ALA the island had descended into a chaotic 3 way war. The force informally lead by Kyrylo’s father was forced to extort and steal food and supplies to continue fighting, as well as raid and attack enemy forces. This continued for several years until the group was able to receive some aid from the NKA in the form of weapons, food, some soldiers and a military advisor, who stayed with them a short time in order to better organize the unit to fit the NKA’s structure. Placing Kyrylo’s father as the commander with Kyrylo, now 23, being granted the position of second in command. Kyrylo himself got along well with the Advisor, a Njarir male not much older than him, and managed to keep in touch even after they parted ways. The reorganization of the unit did little to change how it operated however, and they still conducted irregular guerilla warfare with a focus on close combat using traditional Amohdan fighting. As the war went on the brutality of the unit towards enemies and civilians who supported them only increased as a response to the desperation of the war. This did not sit well with Kyrylo's more idealistic view of war and hurt his faith as he felt that the ma’ta’ke gods would not allow such brutality to continue. However, things truly hit their worst in 2459, when Kyrylo’s father was killed by a DPRA soldier during a raid, leaving Kyrylo to mourn whilst taking leadership of the unit. Things however only got worse, as much of the land had been devastated, food became scarce.. Many of the unit died from disease, starvation and constant skirmishing with enemy forces. This, combined with the death of his father, broke Kyrylo’s faith. Despite continuing to profess his belief it became hollow, with him believing that the ma’ta’ke gods had abandoned them, or had never cared in the first place. After the ceasefire between the NKA and DPRA was signed, royalist forces withdrew from Amohda. While Kyrylo was bitter to see his homeland left in the control of the enemy, he understood the reality of the situation and swore that one day it would be reclaimed. The next year however saw a turn in fortune for the njarir, his friend the military advisor had inherited his fathers titles, becoming a count and a member of the officers party in parliament. He was able to unite Kyrylo with his mother who had survived the war as a refugee and helped Kyrlo gain a place at the Kaltir Law Academy. Attending the Academy opened a whole new world to Kyrylo, primarily with access to a wealth of literature and knowledge previously inaccessible to him. Whilst his focus went primarily to his studies a large amount of his free time was devoted to reading literature, among which he found himself drawn to more esoteric topics. From raskarism to ancient occultism to ancient tajaran theory. Kyrylo quickly developed his own strain of ma’ta’ke including all the esoteric ideas he had studied. His studies and delving into esoteric subjects continued during his time at the academy, keeping them secret other than with fellow interested students and his count friend who had become intensely interested in the same ideas. The most notable event of this time in his life was when his count friend invited him to join the Njarir’Akhan Renewal Society as he had become a member. After verifying Kyrylo’s pure heritage he was made a member, and quickly found many friends within the society, quickly coming to support the dogma of the revival royalist movement and integrating it into his esoteric beliefs, using them justify heavily reactionary views of the Tajara caste system and nobility. After graduating Kyrylo had to face a new issue in his life, his mother had grown too old to work and needed someone to take care of her and money to support her. Kyrylo decided to take the best paying job that he could find at the time for this reason, which was working off-world for a human corporation, Idris Incorporated. This job brought him to Biesel, where he has been working as an Investigator for a short time. Now living in district 6 and sending money back home to his mother, he continues to support and argue for the revival royalist cause, and spread his esoteric ideas to like-minded individuals. What do you like about this character? Kyrylo touches on many ideas and themes that I really think will be fun to play on the station, from his esoteric ideas and religion and how they will play off various events, other religions and ideas and his attempts to keep them obscured. His ultra reactionary beliefs in regards to monarchy, nobility, the caste system, aliens and other aspects of tajaran society. His ties to Amohdan culture and its traditions such as the lodges and his burning desire to one day see it restored to monarchist hands and his experiences of the brutality and horrors of the second revolution.. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 9/10, I consider myself rather good at roleplaying in general. Additional Comment: I’d just like to say thank you to Coalf, Alberyk and Canon for their help with this application over the past few days, they were amazingly good at responding to my questions which I’m sure they have heard many times before and even at times offering ideas that I never originally had but worked into the character. They made the whole experience far easier than it would have otherwise been.

I must agree that in my experience with Robotic his roleplaying can only be described as simply godlike across various characters. So I think he would make a good choice for this whitelist to have someone with the godlike calibre of RP he provides.

If this role does exist though personally I think the need for it is overstated. I've personally seen plenty of opportunities to gain command experience through being an Interim when a captain is awake and that is far greater experience than a secretary around would get when a captain or HOP is awake. The role 100% should only be able to exist if a higher command staff is awake, so it actually has a purpose rather than people using it as unwhitelisted authority. And it should be made clear that the secretary has no power to command anyone onboard. They should be the same level as any other assistant but simply with an assignment to assist a certain person. Any authority they could ever have should be given by the command above them if at all.

Wow this application sure got a lot of attention. So I'll keep my post brief because people already have enough to read for a full view on the situation. I know Danse is incredibly passionate about both Aurora and the lore behind the server. More than 99% of people I know well on the server I would say. I think it's awesome to see and I know that they would put in a mile and more as a lore deputy. As someone who has mostly coalition characters among the human ones I play I would love to see the Coalition as a overall entity gain more depth and detail as it is something sorely lacking right now. I never made a character from the coalition because of the coalition, but the planets within it instead. I'm excited to see what they write and do if they do become a lore deputy. As for a lot of the comments made about Danses character and behaviour. I've known Danse for a long time across multiple servers. I think they have a tendency to not hold back and be honest about what they say, and don't sugarcoat it in cases. However, I think that they can bring this under control if they were a member of staff and act professionally as I have seen them do in the past myself. I think they're more than capable of working with people well regardless of their personal opinions on them. As I have seen before too. I also don't think Danse has any true dislike for anyone in Aurora, Everyone can have frustrations or make crass jokes but Danse deep down has only ever shown himself to be a nice, honest and normal guy who doesn't have the desire to actually hate anyone over a 2d spaceman game. Overall, I will happily +1 Danse's app. But that is primarily because I have seen him in a staff role before in other places and worked alongside him to a small extent and I believe that he is perfectly capable of changing his demeanour to being far more professional and polite along with making peace with those who might dislike him

I've known Ricky since I started playing on Aurora pretty much I would say. I can clearly remember interacting and mostly importantly enjoying interacting with their characters back then and in all my experiences with them OOC they've been a very cool person all around and very easy to talk too. I've seen that they obviously has a solid passion for human lore and I must admit I really like some of the suggestions for the way they would want to take human lore to focus more on Humanities dominance in the spur and the dominance of the Big Five. As well as finally sorting out the Alliance's backstory and expanding languages for humans would be awesome. I've always wanted to see Elyra get something other than TCB. Overall I think they'd make a pretty good choice for a Lore Deputy. So I'd give this a +1. I'd like to ask however, what do you think of the recent developments involving human lore such as the shattering of the Sol Alliance and the birth of the SCC? Do you think it's been a positive development for human lore overall and is there any direction you would want to see these events go if you had any influence over them?

Damn, I can't believe obsidian had the gaul to steal from a small space station 13 community and think they could get away with it just because they're a large video game publisher, as I type this I will be contacting multiple global law firms in order to retain our intellectual property from the obsidian entertainment corporation, they will learn what happens when you mess with a real aurora gamer and their character...

I don't play on Aurora all that often, but I'm the closest my cyberpunk addict friend has to a reference here, so I'll say what I think about this for him. I've played with Neuromancer/AyB0ss on various RP servers for a good while now, Bay mainly due to neither of us really liking many of the other servers out there with a tendency towards custom races, He enjoys playing Corporate Rep or Passenger roles like Investor on bay quite a bit, getting into that semi-shady corporate RP that I would think is a good fit for aurora, He's certainly gotten a lot better at rping and mainly keeping himself within the rules recently which is impressive to me from how he has been in the past, But I've had fun and we've managed to not get banned on bay which I would say has some rather strict rules around. I think his RP would fit a lot better on a corporate driven server like Aurora than a government driven one on bay, and I'd like to see him be given a chance to enjoy the rp side of SS13 cause he has a real need to do cyberpunk corporate RP and I'd love to have him bang on about it a little less. So yeah, I think he is mature enough now to not get himself banned, I'd hope anyway, Obviously I'm not a huge regularly to Aurora so this won't really stand for much but I find it nice to see someone enjoying the RP side of SS13, and I hope what he did in the past wasn't bad enough to warrant a second chance at that enjoyment

Poor wording on my part, I mean to say that given her being a outdated model now she would be contracted on Aurora at a reduced rate to other, newer IPCs, her contract is still fully with Index Security Solutions and she will be an EPMC employee ingame, it's just meant to be a little reason why NT would contract a robot from Eridani under a different corporation rather than simply use internal employees

BYOND Key: SilverSZ Character Names: Amara Ele, EMPC CSI Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character: N/A Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes, along with a few other sections that have IPC lore, such as the parts about IRU’s or IPC’s in the EPMC in Index Solutions or N4NL Why do you wish to play this specific race: I’ve always been a huge fan of synthetic intelligence in works of fiction, AI, Drones, Synths and all the rest inbetween I find super interesting in works of fiction, from the replicants of bladerunner to drones and minds from the culture novels, they have always been some of the most interesting characters when explored well in media. As for roleplaying games, I find the many varied ways that a synthetic can be taken and the questions they can pose through interactions with other characters to be extremely interesting,If they can actually feel or if it is just programming? Are they beings or objects? Do they deserve freedom or even if they should be allowed to look so close to humans like shells. Along with this I enjoy acting out various robotic attributes and tropes myself, Such as being overly analytical to the point of flaw or being extremely polite in as many circumstances as possible, regardless of how you are treated. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: IPC’s are very very different from Humans and other organic species mechanically, having unique strengths and weaknesses due to their inorganic biology and use of electronics. IPC’s are highly vulnerable to EMPs, Temperature Damage and Laser Weaponry. They also produce a large amount of heat, needing a suit cooler as a substitute for oxygen tanks in their spacesuits, or just a cooler in the case of some frames that are able to act in a Vacuum. However, of course, there are a lot of advantages to their bodies, They don’t require any form of specific gases to breathe in an atmosphere, simply the correct pressure and heat for their bodies to function in. Their metal bodies are a lot less hurt by brute damage compared to squishy organics and don’t feel pain in the majority of cases, and they can’t process most reagents except for when they are splashed with acid or burnt alive. Finally they can be repaired with tools, cables and nanopaste, and need to charge from cyborg chargers or APC’s. In terms of roleplaying, IPC’s are extremely different from the start, from the moment they are created they are different from humans, built for specific purposes and full maturity, without a family or parents beyond a manufacturer or company. They don’t feel emotions although they often simulate them to some extent for interacting with humans, but at their base act off their logic and deductions instead of them,seeking to make actions that are efficient and impactful especially ones who are owned given their fate is dependant on job performance. Whilst some are free a large amount are owned, and those who are free discrimination that humans simply would not see which likely affects their personality, along with the treatment they might have had as they were owned, and whilst they might care less about harm due to their lack of pain than humans, they are also built to preserve their own lives as strongly as they can, although this could just be a corporations method of assest protection if they are owned. Character Name: Nia Please provide a short backstory for this character Nia was commissioned for work within Index Security Solutions, A Shell produced by Terraneus Diagnostics through the companies connections with Einstein Engines in the Eridani System. Designed to be the first in Lab Work skills, as well as an example of clean cut corporate Eridani culture. Her permanent contract with Index making her worth every penny sunk into her, she entered service in 2450, quickly working on several high-profile cases on Oran, Index happy to show off their new unit, complete with advanced visual calculus processing and new emotional simulation software! Nia set into her work with a passion, as she of course was programmed to do, finding her position with the company and her pay and maintenance to be more than satisfactory to her, she did he best to excel at her career and uphold the professional appearances of ISS and Eridani Corporate Culture as a whole. Eventually, the brilliance and wow factor of the new unit wore off, overtime more models like her entered into service, and incremental improvements began in core programming and bodies of new units, causing Nia to fall behind on the curve slightly, while she is still a respected and useful Employee, any time to stand out is mostly gone. When a position opened up for a CSI on the NSS Aurora, Index put her forward based on her exemplary record and a price cut due to her slightly outdatedness, she was granted the position and began work shortly after, seeing it as an opportunity to work in a new challenging environment and show the strengths of her company to a whole new group. What do you like about this character? I enjoy playing excessively polite and respectful characters when I play synthetics, and a Shell designed to show off and adhere completely to the competitive corporate structure of not only EPMC but Eridani Culture as a whole sounds very fun to me, given Eridani is my favourite origin for humans for similar reasons. Additionally, The idea of having a permanent contract with no options for freedom or transfer is interesting to me to explore with other players and to develop the character, especially as their role and prominence has begun to decrease, something they might begin to consider as to why they are on the Aurora, and what their future might be as things go on like they are. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I would say I’m an alright roleplayer, I’ve played other SS13 HRP servers for a good time, Primarily Baystation 12. Additionally I’ve played tabletop games for an even longer time since I was a kid and have always enjoyed it, I find collaborative roleplaying and character development with other people to be extremely fun and rewarding. I’m able to play realistic and detailed characters and I do always enjoy building backstories for characters which helps with RP. Notes: I will admit my playtime on Aurora is not the best, I’m a student so I don’t have much time to play and committing two or more hours to a round of SS13 is even harder to do than playing games in general, I hope this isn’t too much of a damper on my application as I would see myself playing more with the option of playing Synthetics as I am rather burnt out on HRP humans from other servers.
