  1. Greekin, just make him care
  2. Sybil - 9. I mean she IS an older AI technically, AND is only a line of code away from declaring that for their own good all organics must either be converted to a cyborg body or die. Ebba Sailor - 3 Kelly McKenzie - 2 Lua Saudosa - 1/7, depending on what mode she is in Vermilion Carminite / other synths of that project - 0. SO MUCH 0. Chii/Shii - 3/10. It's a dark secret, but seriously - three things, in order, to NOT do if you want your odds to live to stay good: remove their laws, compromize them, then act against their core coding. Fear becomes a motivation.
  3. oh my god that screenshot gives me mad nostalgia. Anyone remembers when you could make 90000 temp bombs because there wasn't pressure code OR a limit to the heater so you could just leave it for an hour an a half? Anyhow, for me, roleplaying is defined as "given a situation, you have a role. Play it." Good roleplay is adhering to that - you make your own character, sure, but that's worldbuilding technically. Roleplaying well is STICKING to that character. Got a neurotic security officer? Don't make it happy-go-lucky AND extremely robust.
  4. Entirely fair, but I maintain that maybe you're not ready yet for a Head position. Play a few more days, ask questions - and maybe by then if you can prove that you're ready I will approve. Then again - don't worry, this isn't a damnation. I'm just one insignificant user - one thing you CAN do is, once per round, advertise your application in-game through the OOC channel for other people to pitch in.
  5. Did you or did you not do it? Also, forgot to tackle this: I wasn't mad. I never am. I just take my responsibilities seriously - and that's something else you should take in mind: most Head whitelistees are there to help you. Just pop up within their range, ask a few questions in LOOC and you're all fine and dandy. (Which is another point which sort of scares me - you know the job but not the lore behind it on Aurora, and so if you're whitelisted you're little more than Scientist+ possibly without being much help to new players)
  6. Yeah I don't know why this thread wasn't closed, all discussion that belongs here belongs to the other one.
  7. What Sierra said. To me, it makes no sense that the laws aren't hierarchical - because otherwise law conflicts mean nothing - hell, in this case, Law 2 (Serve) would be in conflict with Law 1 (Safeguard). And hell, if they are not hierarchical, what's the point of numbering them?
  8. ...Am I the only one who has never ever gotten an "improper format" note?
  9. If Alberyk's going to be whitelist-stripped, then strip me as well because I regularly do worse chucklefucking than that in Science.
  10. Well there you go. Insisted that you were slimed in the past, AND did it regardless, completely ignoring paperwork, the implications AND the RD's disapproval. I'm afraid of what you're going to be doing if you get the actual power to do shit.
  11. I love you guys.
  12. Sliming IS canon. What is not is that your character can go through sliming and come back. Because of the genetic damage, it's a permanent issue that makes you non-human and non-crew. But still, the bigger issue at hand is that you tried using it as a reason to do it, AND that you tried to go over the RD's head - remember, all bets are off if it stays in Science, but as soon as it involves crossing the barriers between station and science, there's talks and paperwork to be done.
  13. I'm going to have to disapprove of this app. The player has shown that they're not entirely willing to follow canon rules and I'm 90% certain that, as a xenobiologist, they slimed themselves despite the orders of the RD - and if they did not, they sure as hell insisted on it (and did not even present paperwork to initiate the pickings for a possible slimee).
  14. I approve of this application. I just had the opportunity of playing with them as they were an interim HoS (with Sahir), and they played quite well and worked with what they got. I'd love to see them in an actual HoS character.
  15. Will do - then again, I have less DO contact that I'd wish, but yeah I will.
  16. Wait wait. Jackboot. You got a SERVER WARNING. For breaking into what is exactly the least secure area of the station. As a Head of Staff. What.
  17. It's a Damocles sword. Personally I'm against it. You have to remember that people are panicky, manipulative fucks. A person is fine - but people are not fun. Oh, someone doesn't understand why shit has happened or disagrees with it? Shitstorm. Oh, someone finds the admins too lax for their own tastes? Shitstorm. Oh, one admin fucked up? Time for a witch hunt and to impale that fuck. Shitstorm. Oh, one admin fucked up AGAIN? All admins are fucking fucks, replace all of them. Shitstorm. As much as it pains me to say, the community is (or at least large parts of it is) pretty much made out of azidoazide azide. Look it up. But long story short, the community regularly explodes the way I see it at the smallest, if any, disturbance like being looked at wrong. Having transparent administration would make that infinitely worse.
  18. I feel so bad for you DOs. This shit needs to be fixed.
  19. Y'know, I'm thinking it may be an extension of user's "fuck the police/the system" mentality. Because I didn't even KNOW people had that much beef with the DO's. And I don't get it either, because you guys are bloody awesome.
  20. Well there WAS that one time where the singularity only compromised the part of it's containment that faced the station so that it shot straight upwards, tearing Engineering in half and sucking in all but one of the engineers
  21. Wasn't this planned for the new ground-based map?
  22. I approve of this.
  23. I'd approve of this as an antag role only. Because I've played on a server with clowns once. Heavy RP. It was a fucking mess. (then again I did give him a mech...)
  24. It's an interesting thought. I'm ambivalent. On the one hand, it's true it would increase the quality of AIs (then again, I'm in no shortage of quality AI shackling with EmPrESS and Prometheus). On the other hand, being an AI on the Aurora, very early on (and by that I mean two rounds in) was one of the driving factors towards me staying because of how much fun I had. So I don't know.
  25. Makes sense since janitors are explicitly employed to keep a place clean while custodians also maintain minor systems like lights and soap in the bathrooms.
