  1. def agree with kermit and rooster, the main boon and purpose was a mix of getting away from irl meds so they can whatever we want them to behave without provoking people's "they must immersive just like my real world counterpart!!" and keeping that whole thing in the grave. additionally, switching it around Yet Again just confuses players who learned aurora meds. i dont feel we should make an impactful change for a very small convenience that only matter to a handful of people, to the detriment of anyone else who's already used to the current state of names. -1
  2. first thought i had was basically this too. i really, truly cannot see cloning being something to retcon nor being a major cause of plot holes unless someone is just that bad at story telling and lacks decent creativity for world building. for example, to build upon the idea of this - - can be for the fact that this is ripe opportunity for world building about stigmas, morally objections, scientific novelty (data for cloning could suffer from degradation over time), or political subterfuge, for example we could say that the technology for cloning individuals cannot feasibly be duplicated into backups - you can only have one copy of a scan ever and so with that, while most scans are secure, they are not unhackable and could be targets of being sabotaged or manipulated so that the clone comes back as a sleeper agent. then all major political figures or people end up generally either barred from returning to their former work life or heavily distrusted (or trusted and then the clone actually betrays everyone) and end up typically counted as 'not really the original'. there is so much world building that it can bring in how various factions could abuse it (given restrictions on how cloning could work) to make a dictator that seemingly is unremovable when confronted with 'just kill the bastard' and thus forces more creative solutions or causing revolts to usurp the individual, or that cloning is potentially looked down on or stigmatized heavily against and what that means for the cloned person.
  3. I feel that your response here misses the intended mark that Prate likely was going for based on my interpretation of what they said. I believe this remark shows that you haven't quite admitted how your critique itself was innapropriate (even if fueled by grumpiness) given how pings are a valid way to ensure people can locate a discord message later on when they are awake and abled. Instead, this feels like a minor deflection of the issue, brushing it off as mere sleepy-grumpiness instead of acknowledging how any similar response to pings from both lore work and lore questions and further minor pings can enforce a reputation as unapproachable - a fatal reputation for someone directly working as lore staff and fields queries from a community of players. If my assessment on this is accurate and rings true, then I hope this coming to your attention helps you in gaining more self awareness and improving overall.
  4. ooooh, well that fixes that. the guide looks well done and it appears you've even made some editions to it based on feedback. overall your temperament feels like someone who is able to work well in a group. +1 ?
  5. um, all i see on the page when i land on it is >-> has the page been release or is this a meme or is there some wiki shenanigan afoot?
  6. i am rather against this change regarding the age bump. this age increase impacts the current playbase with a rather pedantic, contrived, and weak justification for no meaningful benefits, with the benefit directly coming from it's own justification. 'this makes better sense' doesn't quite hold up when you can also easily justify the current state of gameplay with that better teaching styles of the future should reduce the years of training required than what we would anticipate for 2020 irl. further, it doesn't appear to address any unhealthy gameplay or have reason rooted in anything other than 'because it makes sense to some people' without really any supporting connections to currently established lore. I don't see how artificially expanding the age requirement further will help with immersion from how it is currently or how it can soundly justify the impact it will cause for the playbase affected.
  7. Ahh, so i'll mostly be handling some classic html and css, glad to hear it should be simple to operate on and thanks for the follow!! I think those three things are very on point to documentation! Making sure that the correct information that is desired to be expressed is able to successfully connect with the reader is the core of effective communication. I'm also sure achieving that goal is a group effort, between double checking facts, asking staff to clarify things we might not understand, and having work checked by others to make sure the quality is good and meets the desired result.
  8. Ckey/BYOND Username: CrimsonFig Position Being Applied For: Wiki Maintainer Past Experiences/Knowledge: I've got strong knowledge of markdown, text formatting, and web development along with plenty of experience from creating and maintaining over 30 pages on 'USAA Enterprise Wiki' as a Software Engineer II at USAA for the past year. Additionally, this experience has me collaborating with teammates and management on a daily basis, so I should be able to work well with the various staff members. Also, given around 3 years of experience working with various computer languages such as Java and Python, I'm able to comprehend the github code to supplement my ability to maintain the wiki and discover possibly out-dated info. Examples of Past Work: Unfortunately, I don't really have any examples directly tied to aurora, except maybe asking UnknownMurder to update Norepinephrine's recipe to equal parts acetone, carbon, sugar. While I'm also unable to share examples from work for a variety of reasons, I do have a personal github project that I have documentation on that i can show as an example: github.com/crimsonFig/Interactive_Sylladex. Additional Comments: I have a particular passion for documentation as seeing incorrect/out-dated and missing information on the wiki has always been a sore for me and by extension anyone else who uses the wiki often. Given it being a source of information for both new players and veteran admins alike, and given the scarcity of maintainers, I really want to be able to be help and contribute as needed for the wiki so myself and others do not have to be often frustrated at a mismatch between the expectations set by the wiki and what actually happens when they try to act on the knowledge in game. I'm willing to be fully transparent to inquiries about my past experience/knowledge/works to help my case. ?
  9. +1 played a round as the ai, GRANNY, and i was able to see their radio chatter, and i have to say i like their inclusive and respectful roleplaying with their department and other peeps. they even found a way to get the AI engaged in a way that made me subverted but with a very interesting, comical, and engaging lawset that didn't put me in a sucky or compromising situation, and also wasn't one that would cause unwarranted annoyance or pain.
  10. hmm, perhaps an improved response to that behavior could be notifying them that you will attempt to get back to them via PDA once you have a moment to spare, and perhaps also mentioning your concerns/apprehensions to a HoP or Captain so they're in the loop about a situation and that they (HoP, etc.) may be acting unreasonable with you despite your best efforts. I can see from the points raised by others, being a member of command means there are certain expectations that need to be upheld or else it causes confusion, disorder, difficulty in making sound judgment calls, and misunderstandings; the heads provide a stream of management information between eachother and ignoring someone is considered out of the question, rather communicating about the issue is required, and if one is too busy, then one can say they'll get back to them after they handle a pressing situation. i'd imagine it is not only about being courteous but about being a duty bound professional member that need to live up to expectations while finding a way to handle staff who are tough-pieces-of-work without blowing them off. Atleast, that's my take of the comments above. I hope this provides some insight!
  11. does well to gain participation of others and is very interactive! i enjoyed their RP a ton! +1
  12. (played as opal lotami) overall +1, was enjoyable as a director during my shift and taught me with simplicity about making protoguns
