You could argue security shouldn't go at all because the ship needs to be defended and protected, and in fact the bad ass gun psychos of science or the rugged salvagers of mining can and will defend themselves, just as they do for every dig site or direlect they come across. But that excludes security, and it's a BIG problem if security is excluded, so I guess I'll need to suspend my disbelief for a second so that other people can have fun.

Action contested: All of the above Reasoning for contest: I, Sasha Kaiser, formally submit an appeal to the internal office of the SCC in contest of the ruling above. While the punishment has been carried out, I do not believe a proper investigation was conducted nor do I believe I was given appropriate opportunity to testify. The allegations paint myself as an incompetent leader who would go so far as to have an employee arrested for "disagreeing or arguing" with me, an assessment skewed far beyond what truly happened. For these accusations to have stood, my testimony was either ignored or lost in translation; that is to say, they are entirely untrue. On top of this, I question the decision to punish senior staff for enforcing expectations on productivity in the workplace, particularly something as simple as status reports and long term projects. I do not expect the bare minimum of my staff, I do not allow laziness to be rewarded, and I do not permit unsafe workplace practices. I oppose the idea that one could be excluded from these basic expectations as per the terms of their 'contract' and that questioning this constitutes a valid reasoning for demotion. I contest the execution and rationale of the investigation as a whole, and request it to be re-opened, re-evaluated, and should the office agree with my assessments: scrubbed from my record. Additional notes: (OOC: I spoke with Bear extensively about this, and it came down to an OOC staff complaint or an IC appeal. I genuinely do not think the notes for this case make any sense and are at best disingenuous, twisted far beyond the actual events into something clearly meant to justify a much harsher punishment than reasonable. Obviously I do not know how these decisions were reached though, so in the spirit of giving the benefit of a doubt, I file an appeal.)

He was told he could wait a minute, and in retaliation he got on comms and said that I had "decided he couldn't help" and that "engineering could deal with it themselves" - a complete lie, which he then denied to my face. I decided to have him suspended for the shift and security was called to take him away. During the second shift, on 09/10/2466 around 1:00, I arrived on deck. I asked for a check in and was met by an insistence that his suspension was revoked. I did not want to argue with him and told him to drop the attitude several times, with the threat that if he could not, he would be suspended. His attitude did not stop, going so far as to antagonize me. He was suspended for the shift with the insistence that "IA would hear about this," to which I informed him he was correct. These incidents showcase an employee who is not only non-productive for the SCC in his complete refusal to conduct actual research, but a hazard to others in his blatant disregard of containment procedure. His assertion over my "allegations" leads to the suspicion he has intentionally been poisoning the well within my department or otherwise by spreading rumors, speculation founded on his belligerence towards myself. He has been given countless warnings with no improvement, leading to this esclation. Just add a understudy alt title to distinguish people trying to learn, this has been brought up at least three times and there's even a PR for it. I don't know why it's such a thing. Lab assistant working as an assistant role is fine as is, who cares if people wanna make permanent characters in those roles.

As the person who (accidentally) made an EMP that could hit the entire ship, I'm generally against bomb caps - even for regular bombs. Something that big can be very devastating, though that's kind of the point. I don't think everything needs to be neutered to cater to some rare circumstances, really. As for IPCs, I kind of agree with fluffy? I posted in the IPC medical thread but they're just genuinely overpowered on an endurance level alone, though I agree that it /can/ suck to be stuck somewhere for 10-30 minutes, especially because at blue you are just as likely to have a swamped medical as an EMP going off. That said, its really the only way to stun an IPC effectively so I'm more or less in favor of them being able to self charge in standby mode (sleep) up to a certain point, just enough to get to a charger, but not fast enough to negate the stun.

I thought I commented on this but I guess not. This was a thing in the past, where I believe at the 1:30 mark you could call a vote to add an antag. It was removed for a myriad of reasons though I think the main one was that it was abused to make yourself an antag. It was removed during one of my extended breaks so I'm not entirely sure either way. I didn't hate it back then, and I don't have a strong opinion now - just pointing out this exact feature was removed at some point.

This is a case of favouring "realism" over gameplay. Particularly as the "realism" here is misrepresented in assumption that you cannot move objects up and down stairs in life. It's not fun, its an inconvenience, and every solution presented is to solve a self made problem that adds no interesting gameplay and is a chore to work around. Spending resources to 'fix' this is a waste of time when frankly it should just be reverted.

Managed the ship very well during a chaotic technomancer round while I (the other command) got dragged into a hell of unrelated drama and brain damage. Sorry for leaving you high and dry, but you proved you can handle it so heres a +1
