1. The biggest problem i had with the interview is the procedure on which a moderator intervenes in regards to the line between an OOC issue and an IC issue. Particularly the bit about unwarranted perma brigging. Ideally id like to facilitate some RP between a head or an IAA agent to get the individual released as this /is/ a high RP server. I believe i have a good sense of what is right and what is wrong and if i was ever unsure im sure the staff of this server are more than capable of giving me guidance in dishing out judgements. Regardless of the outcome of my application i respect either decision and welcome any and all criticism to it.
2. Hi, i was playing the CMO this round, Ludwick Foreal. I have to say this entire debacle made the round really unenjoyable and i was beyond irritated that this dispute was continueing while lings were killing our crew and taunting us over comms. That being said the first thing i heard was tasmin yell for security and when i went to investigate i found her on the ground damaged, clawed by isra. I made it very clear multiple times IC that she was never close to death, she was still above 60% health, regardless security decided to give a warning for the time being and i agreed, that lasted a good twenty seconds when tasmin called security /again/. this time it was another person not in the complaint fighting with tasmin and i asked officers to arrest them both. I continued trying to coordinate the mounting body pile with other members of command and had my staff perform autopsies on the corpse to get some good Ling RP going. i was hindered at every move by them arguing and insulting each other over medical comms and in the lab. Officers had to be called about two more times and both were finally arrested and demoted. apparently the HoP informed me then that safiya was brigged while being demoted for /again/ clawing tasmin. From what i saw this round they are both clearly at fault and this RP is beyond problematic, what sort of individual would continue a petty domestic dispute when changelings are rampaging the crew and leaving bodies everywhere?
3. Basic Information Byond Account: Garnascus Character Name(s): Ludwick Foreal, AI Name(s): P.E.R.I Preferred means of contact: Forum PM here would be fine Age: 23 Timezone: USA eastern When are you on Aurora?: Im on sporadically on weekends but during the week i usually catch two full rounds a day from 2-8ish, Experience How long have you played SS13?: About 8 months now How long have you played on Aurora: about five months How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: I would say i have mastered about 40% of this game and have working knowledge of another 45%. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: For ss13 specifically no, but ill detail my other credentials down below. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: I remember being banned at one point from a server, dont remember which one but it was my second time ever playing the game and i made a mistake fighting on the shuttle. Personality Why do you play SS13?: Its fun roleplaying, and i like the depth of situations that can happen as well as the mechanics of certain fiels, especially medical. Why do you play on Aurora?: quite frankly i think its the best High RP server that does events. What do moderators do?: Ensure the player base is acting in accordance with rules and also act as an example others should follow. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: It means being held to a higher standard and being able to work well in a team. Why do you want to be a moderator?: I have always enjoyed an officer or moderator type role and have experience handling a large array of issues with people. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: I'm impartial and take care in assessing any situation, I have experiance working with a wide array of people, even those that dont speak much english. i am punctual and honest, i prefer speaking plainly rather than beating around the bush. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: very well, if im accepted as a moderator i have to remember im setting an example for others to follow. I believe myself to handle stress and insults relatively well. Anything Else You Want to Add: (Do not put words here) So i wanted to talk a little bit about why i believe myself qualified for this position. Like a lot of people ive played world of warcraft extensively over the years and have held officer positions in two differant guilds and have been a core raider in a top one hundred guild with a 16 hour a week raid schedule. What i want this to convery is my ability to coordinate with a large group of people, and how i can handle a lot of logistical work such as what players we brought in for a fight or how we get materials we need. During my time as officer i had to handle a lot of disputes and sometimes make difficult decisions such as removing people from the roster or sitting them for not performing properly. In real life i work as a security guard so i have experience being something that people look to and hold to a bit of a higher standard as well as experience in identifying problems. I believe myself qualified for moderator status,
4. As someone who plays a lot of CMO i also share the policy that i don't care what a geneticist does to themselves so long as they leave the lab clean.
5. CMO from this round, i wasnt bothered by it and it might even have been funny if the context wasnt a heavy RP ss13 server. I feel like its going a bit far.
6. Reporting Personnel: Ludwick Foreal Rank of Reporting Personnel: Medical Doctor Personnel Involved: TIna Kaekel, Daniel Morphos, Harold Kepperson Time of Incident: around 0430 Location of Incident: Medbay surgery room Nature of Incident: [x]Workplace Hazard []Accident/Injury []Destruction of Property [x]Neglect of Duty [x]Harassment [x]Assault [x]Misconduct []Other _____ (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: I brought in the xenobiologist Harold Kepperson into medbay after i noticed he was taking high toxin damage and picking him up from science. After stabilizing him with cryo and anti-toxin i scanned him and found out that he had done damage to his liver somehow. Such damage is of course a simply fix with surgery and i placed him on the bed and headed for the surgery ward. I notice i am being followed by Daniel Morphos who is a surgeon on staff and after i turn on the surgery holosign to the ward he still enters in. I ask him to leave as i am obviously in the middle of treating a patient. Instead of simply leaving and allowing me to perform the operation quickly he tells me that since he holds the title of surgery and i a mere medical doctor i am not qualified to perform an operation i had done at least a thousand times in over twenty years of medical practice. I tell him that we are not having this conversation now as mr kepperson is at this point still conscious and in a great deal of pain from his liver damage. Daniel morphos instead insists we are having this conversation now and tells me instead to leave. we degenerate into shouting a bit at each other which i admit my temper at this point was boiling. Mr. kepperson even while in pain attempts to facilitate and tells us he would much rather have me, ludwick foreal perform the surgery. I instead decide that the patient is much more important than a petty argument and turn on his anesthesia. When he was out and with Mr. morphos still yelling at me i ignore him and begin the operation. While i am creating the incision on mr. kepperson, the surgeon attempts to knock the scalpel out of my hand and pushes me around, i am knocked to the ground and frantically scramble for a hemostat to stop the bleeding of the patient but mr. morphos /continues/ to push me around. It was at this point the CMO Tina Kaekel comes in shouting at us both and telling me i should have apparently just let Mr. morphos do the surgery. I admit at this point i was so beyond irritated at mr. Morphus i may have acted irrationally, she orders both of us out, opening the door once more and breaking the sterile area and says SHE will do the surgery now. I tell her to leave so yes i suppose i disobeyed a direct order from a head but all i cared about at that point was my patient whose surgery has been interrupted twice now by outside forces, I was then flashed by the CMO and forcibly thrown out. I believe the CMO then attempted to have security arrest me or something but i am not sure as i immediately left to blow off steam in the dorms and fell asleep. i understand the surgeon is a dedicated position however there are some medical doctors such as me that are also qualified surgeons, Perhaps it would have been easier to simply hand him off to Mr. morphos in the first place but honestly i didnt even think of it at the time and complicating treatment of a patient by having multiple people handling him, especially when we werent busy is just absurd. Did you report it to a Head of Staff or IAA? If so, who?: I did not, had i been thinking rationally i might have sent a message to terrence frank at the time, i apologize. Additional notes: Look, quite frankly i think all of us acted badly in this situation, and a petty argument quickly escalated into something awful. I am not one who likes to hold grudges or let things like this fester relationships, both these individuals are no doubt skilled medical professionals and im making this report to attempt to reach some mutual closure on it.
7. Really well done app, the newspaper clipping is a great touch of detail. I see no reason to have anything bad to say about this app honestly
8. Im not going to make excuses for what i said nor am i going to lie to you that im a perfect individual. I make mistakes just like anyone else, i got too irritated at someone egging me and when i should have just ignored it. I would take it back if i could but i cant and if you have to deny my application because of it fair enough, i accept the consequences of my actions. However i submit that instances like these are few and far between and not at all indicative of my actual character ( both ic and ooc).
9. Ive seen your character a few times and never really had anything bad to say, i give this a plus one, i think you have what it takes.
10. thats fine, thank you for your feedback.
11. Whats wrong with it? i have never posted to forums like this before so its kind of alien to me.
12. BYOND key: Garnascus Character names: Ludwick Foreal, Also P.E.R.I as AI How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Probably a good 3 months or so, no more than five i think. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I want to have a greater role in the motion of rounds and i feel i can make it fun for everyone. Why did you come to Aurora?: I wanted a high RP server that also uses events and has a decent player count, aurora fits the bill. Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: yes i have Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is assuming the role and mindset of the character and job i am currently playing, this also means hindering oneself to certain situations i feel, so if im a CMO i am going to have little to no knowledge of firearms or how to fix station equipment even if OOC i know how. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: A lot of game mechanics such as red alert and signing off on documents needs approval of heads, i also feel that good heads of staff are vital when you need to issue orders to combat a crisis or designate responsibility so everything can operate smoothly if its needed. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: I think its reasonable to say whitelisted players should be held to a higher standard regarding rules and roleplay ettiquette, as such i will do my best to follow the rules and create good rp so evertone can have fun.
Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Ludwick Foreal Character age: 43 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Ludwick Foreal was born aboard a spaceship, the NSS Echo, a simple cargo ship were his parents worked as cargo technicians. His father Lucas Foreal was hard on ludwick but also firm and fair and his mother Claire foreal would always listen and talk, despite sometimes being covered in grease. Living on a cargo ship ludwick got to see many differant places and species and thanks to the large amount of chemicals that were stored and carried aboard ludwick quickly acquired a love for all things chemistry. He mixed a bad batch here and their but he was able to save up some pocket money for a myriad of texts concerning various reactions and potential potions. Ludwick at the age of around 17 became known as a quasi-chemist that despite his lack of formal education on the subject it was an easy task to treat flu symptoms or cure the odd hangover or two. It was a quiet life but ludwick was not unhappy, although with each "patient" he helped he wished more and more to be able to do more. He understood how his batch of bicaridine accelerated the clotting and wound healing processes of the body but he could not fix the wound himself, The workings of dexalin to promote blood oxygen levels was comprehend able but repairs to the lungs themselves were beyond his grasp. He did some searching and made the decision within himself to become a medical doctor and go to medical school. When Ludwick was 19 he waved goodbye to his home and departed for earth, He enrolled in university and because of his real experiance in chemistry was easily able to afford tuition and live decently enough working as a lab technician. Taking through the whole year ludwick was able to complete a bachelors in chemistry in just two and a half years, he also had two years of lab work under his belt and was finally accepted to echelon medical school, a space station in fact, orbiting earth. Ludwick devoured every iota of information he could glean about the human body, hours and hours he spent perusing notes on anatomy and physiology and it was with a trembling but steady hand he performed his first surgery when he was 26, a simple knee replacement. When he was 27 he graduated Echelon medical school with a medical degree and entrance into a cardiology residency. Despite constantly being busy with his work ludwick was no stranger to friendship, insisting on building strong working relationships either with his jokes or difusing tense situations with dry wit. When ludwick was 36 he applied for nanotrasen to serve as a Medical doctor aboard a space station once again. Nanotrasen placed him aboard the NSS aurora and he spent the next seven years practicing medicine and doing his best to form working relationships with his fellow crew, What do you like about this character?: I like this characters scathing sarcasm and ironic humor the best, i also like his flexibility when it comes to protocol. Ludwick is not the type to bark orders incessantly and be a ruling dictator in his department. Instead of saying " I order you to do X" he would say " could you please X" and he attempts to make friends with anyone he meets, What do you dislike about this character?: He goes through life as if he is in on some private joke the rest of the world isnt and sometimes doesnt take situations as seriously as they should be taken, prefering instead to slap a good helping of sarcasm all over it and blunty tell people off if they annoy him. He has little respect for incompetent leaders which can sometimes get him into trouble, What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: He has a fantastic working knowledge of various station procedure and workings and places a strong emphasis on building good relationships to facilitate productivity. He would much rather be comfortable with everyone than bark orders and have everyone dislike him, he takes expert advice into consideration and does not exceed his level of expertise when giving advice to other heads or making a decision within his department. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I would rate my own roleplaying pretty well, i like to remember that everyone is playing this game so i try to RP every situation with this is mind, for example if i see our geneticist testing on himself illegally instead of calling security to arrest him i would instead direct him to the appropriate form to fill out or even sign it myself if im the CMO, depends on the situation of course but even if someone is being disrespectful to me as CMO i am very unlikely to attempt to demote them or even call security, its likely ill just try to diffuse the situation with jokes or something and instead RP in a way to try to understand WHY their character is doing what they are doing.
Extra notes: Not a whole lot else for me to say, other than i can say if i apply to play the CMO for the round im likely not going to go SSD randomly within 15 minutes if nothing happens, heads of staff can be critical to RP and other situations so if i go SSD that kinda defeats the purpose.
