  1. I mean... You /explicitly/ said in game your group is called ISIS although with differences as to each letters full word. While in not praising joshes "I am the law" stance I can see where his coming from. Surely you don't expect us to believe you just happened to choose that name for no reason?
  2. Alright, hey guys. I was the staff member that handled this particular incident and while i did ask opinions in msay i was the one that decided a warning was the correct punishment. I checked the player in questions history "dick banton" and found no previous notes, warnings, or other rule infarctions. When i questioned the player about the incident he was upfront and admitted to it and rationalized it by saying "i wanted a mystery to solve". I agree this type of behavior isnt what we should tolerate from our playerbase but i am extremely uncomfortable with banning someone from a first time offence. You're free to disagree with the decision and ill hear each and every one of them but at this time i still stand by not banning him.
  3. I got halfway through before I realised you had written "xenophobe" and not "xenobiologist".
  4. What am I doing with my life.....
  5. I dunno France's im kinda conflicted. I agree that the rules are kinda loose but the content of that post seemed pretty R rated to me. Do we need 4chan/goon style debating? Is it unreasonable to ask for some decency in discussion? I see your point though, I do think the post had some good points which unfortunately had to be deleted. Its not exactly something in celebrating ill be honest.
  6. Id argue you shouldn't be arguing and debating outside forum rules in the first place.
  7. The problem with being lenient is you get accused of cherrypicking and playing favorites, the problem with not being lenient is.....this happening.
  8. Can we not devolve this into personal attacks too? Its why that other thread got locked. Honestly I really think you're reading too much into it 1138. He said posts against server rules not what he interprets or doesn't like.
  9. I mean I can understand the frustration at a comment being deleted but I really feel like I have to agree with xander here. I can say as a trial server moderator I dont get to pick and choose when I enforce server rules and when I dont. If I see someone breaking the rules in game i speak to them and go from there, no exceptions.
  10. Alright, well first off thanks a bunch for posting that. Quite franky after reading it and thinking about it some i do see quite a lot of personal attacks and R rated material in it. We can argue all day on the validity of the arguments but the way the content is presented seems to be against the rules to me. If I'm wrong in open to discussion but for the moment I dont see a problem with xander removing it.
  11. Like I said unless I actually see what was deleted I cant tell if sander was right or not to remove it, and I implore anyone not to make a snap judgment, at least not until we have all the evidence clearly played out.
  12. Gonna need to see what was actually deleted before I can give an opinion on this. If a forum mod has access to deleted/altered posts is like to see them.
  13. Here's the thing - D&D fantasy wizards in robes and pointy hats wielding staffs and throwing fireballs don't mix well with science-fiction. You can argue all day about it being just as realistic as FTL, aliens, lasers and space stations, but at the end of the day those are common things in sci-fi. Gandalf isn't. You aren't wrong, it doesn't mesh very well but frankly i dont consider the argument you put forth very strong because I think wizard round adds another interesting dimension to this game. Also sorry for format problems, this is awkward on a tablet.
  14. Actually, yes we are. You don't get to dismiss criticism with a sentence like that when three of your points in the OP are about balance. Frankly you aren't wrong about the wizard but its worthy of being called an issue because nobody IC has knowledge of the wizard and they only appear in wizard rounds which aren't canon anyway. Antag rounds are more of a whAT if scenario.
  15. i find your arguments questionable. First point i contest, stun baton and tasers are the bane of most antags. if anything the stun mechanic they bring is far too strong. i find most brute weapons to reasonable as well and thats not discounting bladed weapons which can lop off limbs in a few hits. Lasers and guns also seem reasonable to me, frankly id like some elaboration on this point. The station is certainly designed to give antags an advantage i agree but keep in mind they are already at a huge disadvantage simply being an antag, namely they are up against the entire crew. Also lets not devolve this into an "us vs them" situation as the goal of every antags actions is not to win but to futher the situation for interesting RP and i feel the ease of access certain areas can provide for this. Borgs and IPC's have huge advantages over human players, Borgs can surivive in space and are immune to disease and IPC's cant be tasered or flashed. at some point you need to step in and limit them in some other way or their strength becomes far too overbearing. Finally i find your argument against wizards completely flat. Magic isnt real? neither are aliens, bluespace. slimes, laser rifles, or huge trillion dollar stations floating in space. If you are saying that wizards dont fit the mold of the universe then thats a more reasonable argument however i think the uniqueness of the wizard fills a critical niche that other modes cant, IE the crew experiencing powers they couldnt ever fathom.
  16. I see were your coming from and I actually think its a healthy mentality to have, the conflict for me here is its my understanding that a loyalty implant would physically prevent you (and the HiS) from doing something like this.
  17. The problem I have with spicing the round up is captains are loyalty implanted. Regardless the main problem I had was the lethal and since it was all being handled IC I decided not to bwoink you.
  18. Yet you still fired lethal on someone attempting a lawful arrest. I'm not disagreeing that RP always has to be by the books but lets be clear on something here. You straight up broke the law and abused a criminal and got dealt with IC because of it (and then died due to an antag officer). If your idea of officers freaking out is them enforcing corporate regulations then frankly i contest that.
  19. I feel like a captain torturing an antag isn't something we should be celebrating.
  20. To help frame the discussion a bit what would you guys consider a good use of the current holodeck fire?

    Buff Janitor

I think this is reasonable but at the same time I feel it might be moot. If we assume that most messes that need more than one only occur during a crisis would more than player actually want to? Even if the answer is no I don't see it as a reason not to at least have the option.
  22. I feel you have a good point with regards to its location. One of the biggest problems I feel is the murberbone capability it has. People role-playing in the bar don't have a lot of time to get to safety. Perhaps a fair compromise would be some sort of alarm system? Like what happened or is happening to the malf AI overload power.
  23. Hi today I was granted a trial moderator period and I helped with the specific incident in cargo. After questioning both individuals I felt that this specific situation was reasonable RP. The reasoning I had brought to me was that jammy,s character is very opprutunistic and essentially made a grab for loot when he saw an opprutunity. Arizona's defense was that he did not want to get arrested which I admit was shaky but considering he did not harm the officer or try to harm the officer while she was incapacitated I asked opinions in mod chat and reasoned it was acceptable RP. I did also issue a warning to Arizona the next round for three separate instances of this type of play. Any other past actions I had no knowledge of. including also any other actions of jammy so I can only comment on what I personally saw.
  24. I didn't know you weren't whitelisted to be honest. No discussion to be had though, you deserve it.
  25. I disagree one hundred percent. Perhaps in simply a maniac with a penchant for destruction but I feel having mechanics like this that can cripple the station are actually healthy for gameplay. What I would consider reasonable however is a tweaking of the ease with which you can start a holodeck fire. As it stands now it just takes one guy with an emag or a traitor AI or Borg, however I still think that's ok but its where I see an argument to be made.
