  1. I like Price. She's efficient and knows her stuff. However she's the typical over-aggressive security officer. If she feels that she is working under someone with less skill of knowledge than her she will instantly attempt to flee the department. She would even go as far as to be barking demands to head of staff during red alert situations. These flaws make me wonder as to the authenticity of the player behind her. I can't judge solely on that though considering that might just be her personality and I've not interacted with cdb's other character. I can support on a mild basis with some skepticism. I know an inproperly used whitelist can be revoked so I say give it a shot.
  2. Psh. Burn it down.
  3. It's me isn't it.
  4. It'd be cool, but I'm still not very heavily versed in the game. I'm also down for an RP thing.
  5. I'm from Florida. The Space Coast in particular. Ilikeshuttlelaunches.
  6. Given your contribution to the IPC/Synthetic lore and to the makeup I feel an IPC whitelist should be automatic for your effort. That doesn't protect you from having it stripped if you fuck up, but yeah.
  7. I don't wanna. It's what my dad showed me so it's what I do. I take it you're on the opposite side of that then?
  8. I had to log my driving hours those 11 or so years ago. I collect bladed weapons and try to know as much about them as I can, though I am extremely non-proficient in them.
  9. You guys have the wrong question here anyways. This should be about pouring the bowl. What do you pour first, the milk or the cereal? I pour my milk in first and simply refill my bowl with cereal until I'm ready to drink the remaining milk and stop.
  10. For a layman's terms on cliques, you have this. Remember high school (Or still in it)? Jocks, goths, preps, nerds, cowboys, metal heads. Essentially any group you weren't a part of if you DID NOT share the values, ideals, or likes that they did. The degree of exclusivity varies from group to group and they can be relatively large, contrary to the official definition. Cliques, on aurora, generally just chill with only one another, presenting a problem that they don't help new players learn, and generally don't add to productivity on the station. Most of the time this isn't a severe negative unless all of engineering isn't doing shit. There is not "visual" identifier for them. Any group of people doing their thing can be considered a clique. They aren't overtly terrible. they are a part of modern society. The worst part about them is the lack of interest in interaction until they have a history of being just like what the clique wants. If everyone on the server were to be part of a particular clique, new players would have no where to turn. (It took me forever to find someone willing to teach me things. And I still haven't been able to get a proper "mentor" for a security position because they are always too busy chucklefucking as shitcurity or dealing with others massivly chucklefucking. Toxic RP I don't know a legit definition for. I'd assume it's bad RP or RP that plays constantly on a negative basis. SSL was explained above by Frances. I would also like to note that "Hello" IS a full and sufficient greeting. Don't get discouraged.
  11. Australia is much like Florida in the licensing department. have a learner's permit for a year and log X hours of driving with a fully licensed passenger in the front passenger seat.
  12. I drink it whenever it becomes convenient, such as being unable to catch more than one peice of cereal with my spoon.
  13. I'm Xel. My name is Jeff and I don't mind if it's used. I'm in my late 20's at this point but I'll always be 12. MY first character on here is unused because he's Sec and I can't fight in game. I enjoy synthetic characters and will fight for equal synthetic rights. I love the Legend of Zelda Franchise and have for many years. My username is in reference to StarCraft, the first game not the second. I've used this name on everything for just shy of 18 years. If you find a Xelnagahunter on something, chances are it's me. I am married, any flirting done on a player level is not intended to get anywhere. I'm a tabletop gamer as well. I'll play anything from Dungeons and Dragons to Chutes and Ladders. I enjoy the comic world, but I'm not super hardcore. As far as video games, fighting games have always been a bane. I also dislike sports games. I mearly tolerate racing games. All other game types are fun though.
  14. Fuckin peanut butter! *omnomnom!*
  15. I was once ready to move to another country for the interests of a girl who dumped me. I had packed, gotten a passport, and plane tickets before realizing that if she wasn't into me now she wasn't going to be into me after relocating my entire life. Luckily the tickets were refundable and rent was able to be paid.
  16. That was fast. Thank you for the hard work. I love seeing it and kind of wish it was embedded into the Aurora as something official. It' would be a great tool if more people used it.
  17. I'm really looking to be a Head of Personnel right now. Beyond that, I won't chose to be a head of staff in a department I don't love. Medical confounds me, so I won't be a CMO, likely ever. I enjoy playing in science and I just need to learn it so that I can actually help as an RD. CE is something I'm meh about. I like engineering but I don't have the love for it that I do for Science. HoS is probably something I'll avoid unless I take a strictly command approach because I'm very unrobust. Any HoS characters I play will likely be older and incapable of reacting, simply gaining the promotion in place of retirement. I don't really intend to Captain, but who knows what the future holds.
  18. Basic Information Byond Account:Xelnagahunter Character Name(s):Xel Carin, Vel Carin, Qwerty, Eric Derringer(White-list for HoP pending). AI Name(s):Qwerty, P.A.I. Preferred means of contact: Skype, Steam, or even phones if needed. Age:28 Timezone:EST (-5 GMT) When are you on Aurora?: Typically after work, so 11pm-3am. Beyond that any time I can find a few hours to play. Experience How long have you played SS13?:About 2 months How long have you played on Aurora:About 2 Months How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?:Fairly little. I'm unrobust, I'm unskilled in medicine, and I don't know a lot of the little details. But I'm learning an using the wiki to my advantage. I can work science, some command possessions (Been an assistant only), and I can do some engineering work. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?:No. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?:I have not. Personality Why do you play SS13?:For the fun of it. It's exciting and I've enjoyed Roleplaying games for a very long time. Why do you play on Aurora?:This was the first server I was shown and I've grown to like it. I've tried other servers and decided they were too different from what I know for me to enjoy. What do moderators do?:In my experience, moderators are there to keep the rules enforced and to make decisions on punitive actions and warnings to keep the players having fun and behaving. They are also there to assist confused or new players wanting to learn things or who may not quite be sure of something. There's usually more to it, but it depends on the game you are playing. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?:I'm not entirely sure. But I would love to have the chance to learn and improve myself so that I can understand and maybe obtain the position. Why do you want to be a moderator?:I like to help. Helping is important to me and I try to do as much as I can. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?:Kindness, temperance, an analytical eye, experience with other games. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?:Id say fairly well. In private I vent and let it out, like anyone should. All of that happens behind closed doors though. I have been known to become quite blunt, but the level of ignorance in my moderation experience doesn't seem to live here. Anything Else You Want to Add: I have been a staff member for several MineCraft servers in the past. I currently moderate a new network that will be opening soon, so I have to split my time between the two games, but I do want to note that I have experience. I started moderating those MC servers about 4 years ago and was even invited to new servers for the purpose of being promoted instantly to admin. I'm level headed and capable of doing the job and I feel what I've said here helps support that. I'd like to thank you for taking the time to read this. Make it or not I really do enjoy this server.
  19. Well. That sucks. At least the data is still there and we can access it once it's rebuilt. And I don't think anyone will mind you taking your time to fix it, especially since it's external from the game/server and you are doing it on your own time.
  20. Welcome to our humble abode.
  21. Thanks. I'm glad I've been seen in that positive light. Ok. I'm horrible at stuff like this and was worried about my application in general for it, but here goes. 1: I'd like to emphasize more on teamwork and cooperative communications. The many times I've been an AI or work closely with a captain or HoP, I've noticed a discordance in the way they interact. It may be as simple as granting verbal permission to do something without addressing other heads, especially for out of department issues. I'd like to work on positive communication that keeps everyone in the loop as much as possible. 2: This is the hard one. I've watched Raymond Galloway quite a bit and I like his approach to doing what is needed of him and stepping away when it's in another head's turf. I feel that it's important to have that style, and I very much so with to incorporate it. 3: It's less about cool ideas and more about functionality. YEah, I want a chance to be "in charge," but it's more about being able to fill in missing roles. Granted I will only fill in what I know, which in this case is 99% HoP stuff. I'm trying hard to learn science to an art and next in engineering, thus I'll be able to get heads for those roles as well. I doubt I'll ever be a CMO though, the medical stuff confounds me. Extra Credit: I've not much experience with other mice. However, I have been buzzing around as a mouse a few times. Most recently I observed and moused a round because a particular character that I love to annoy was on. So I pop in and instantly head to robotics to bother Emily Alberg. The only vent that you can crawl out of there is in the surgical area, so it drives her bonkers that there is a mouse in a sterile environment. It leads to her demanding that I leave and me squeaking no and obscenities. It eventually leads to chases. Well she happened to have a Tajaran in the mech bay at the time and whoa was that fun. I had to run from this giant cat thing. Eventually I got out into the research halls and noticed a cat shaped pAI in the RD office and someone opened the door for it. That was a chase and a half. It led to about a half hour of running and yelling while it tried to pounce me. After ending back in the mech bay a few times I was finally done in while typing LOOC. A drone came up and mutilated me and munched my body for minerals... In the end I got to be emily's pAI and chose a mouse for my expanded form. =D fun round.
  22. I'll admit, I wasn't a huge fan of spike Edwards. The one time I've seen him was pretty badly laid out. That aside, I adore Katelyn. Given the IPC lore and mechanic changed introduced by JackFractal, and the way Katelyn is run right now, I support this application on that basis alone. I also know that you are good at what you do as a roleplayer. So yeah. I'd love to see this pass.
  23. I've been keeping up with this a bit. I'm still mostly new to SS13 in general and the Unathi leave me mostly mystified. I don't know much about the alien races as I've not gone out of my way to figure it out yet. My IPC/AI simply views everything in two catagories, synthetic and organic. The answers and responses you've given though, they tell me you've done your homework and and VERY interested in playing that character. I like this. That's all I need to know, really. I play tabletop games and I can see it being frustrating having to play as something you kinda don't want to because a GM, or in this case a whitelist, says you have to. In short, you seem competent and respectable. You have my support.
  24. I'm feeling like my application is kinda like this. I'm not entirely unknown to the server, but people probably don't know me well enough to want to place any comments on my apps. I've only had one positive comment and that was on my IPC app where it only partially matters. My head app has seen plenty of views but I can't even get someone to tell me if there's a reason why they WOULDN'T want to see my app succeed so I can try to make it better. Knowing that it doesn't 100% matter is reassuring because it means my app still has a chance, but I'm disheartened by the fact that I can't get told that I have a good or poor app or that so and so thinks well or poorly of my RPing skills to a point that they inform me. In time I'll see a verdict regardless, but like I've told people at my new job, "If no-one tells me I'm doing anything wrong, I can't learn to do it right."
