((I'm trying not to be the only one doing this. I'm paying severe attention to the thread and I am interested to see how this plays out.))

The thing here is this, how the hell did they get there? Mice, and other rodents and vermin, have a tendency to hide in small spaces causing accidental seal ins. This leads to mice on shuttles. That, in turn, leads to mice on stations. Owls would not crawl into the same small wire and vent spaces that a mouse would. Owls on the station would simply be a joke and not logical at all. Can I appreciate the joke? Yes, I'd laugh and enjoy it, but my argument against it is just to give validity to why we don't have them. Besides. I like mice. I like annoying robotics with mice because the only way into robotics is via a vent in the surgical area and anyone RPing properly won't want the vermin in there.

I would mostly agree with this being a thing, but I'd also agree that perhaps much of the races were culturally inclined to use a single language. Perhaps slang terms and small variances in dialect could happen, but maybe the race as a whole was more interested in interaction with one another that sub-racial languages never truly became a thing.

Regardless of the limitations implied for the current suggestion, I would like to make sure the map team knows that it's hard work and productivity are appreciated by a least a few of us here. I'm not skilled enough to know the details, but I don't doubt that this is a difficult task and I look forward to the finished product.

I can't express to you how happy I am for this statement alone. I wish you luck, though I still remain impartial.

Jack Fractal - LoreDev App
Xelnagahunter replied to jackfractal's topic in Developer Applications Archives
I can say that Jack deserves this position simply based on the lore that has already been excepted. It was a lot of alteration and the code change to go with it seems to be near perfect. I say he's already earned it. -
I care. I actually get upset about it. Medbay and xenobio are the places I least give damns about finding blood in.

I'd like to point out that I'm not putting forth my opinion on the matter, just approaching a concerning thought and sharing it so that others may choose if they feel it is worth overlooking or not. Thundy, to all of my limited experience with her, is a nice person who genuinely seems to care about the server and the people here. Which is what I would personally want in a staff team. But then comes the problem of them being the only person able to handle a situation involving someone they strongly dislike, for any reason. In human nature we see bias all the time. It will almost always effect someone in some way. Beyond that, what happens if the mutual dislike between her and another user becomes so overwhelming that every action is being scrutinized and reported? It would suck to have someone else looking at you that harshly when it might have honestly been a simple mistake to learn from. Yet enough of those can shine through to ruin a person's reputation, deserving or not. Thundy, I hate a few of my exes and would enjoy watching them suffer in a large variety of ways. Hell one of them moved on and my best friend started dating her. I found that putting up with her got me to chill with my friend. So I learned to do that. I did something I didn't like, to do something I loved.

Start carefully heading for the breach, clinging to bulkheads and other stationary objects to prevent an accidental ejection into the vast darkness of space.

Nanotoxins Moderator Application
Xelnagahunter replied to nanotoxin's topic in Moderator Applications Archives
I can respect that. I'm still not placing a support or no support here though. I really don't know you outside of a handful of forum posts I've read and this application. -
I'm aware of the differences, I simply do validate them. We will act how we act to people regardless of them being a co-worker or a customer. When you become as familiar with the customer as you are with the co-worker (The case for servers) then the same level of tolerance will easily become prevalent. I'm not saying Thundy cannot do the job given the stated dislike of the other applicant, I'm saying that it doesn't bode well or produce large amounts of confidence in the ability to remain impartial. Side note: It's not a lie to say that about any one member of staff. I've no players I dislike yet, characters are a different story. I've only been playing SS13 for 50 something days though.

What happens on rounds where the AI is seen as malf or traitor but isn't? Borgs still get shut down and forgotten about or assumed to be law altered and are intentionally left to stagnate and be bored. What's more is that because they are limited, those players who only rock synthetics are then stuck respawning as an organic (Which they may hate) or hoping a new positronic gets activated without linking to an AI. That mechanic alone can kill a round for a synth only player. I'm not saying to remove it, but how can we find a work around to help them?

Lets look around for the nearest airlock and try to gently kick off that way.

So a recent conversation started on another moderator application that I don't like. Thundy, if someone else making staff will make you willing to remove yours, then you probably need to rethink why you want to be staff in the first place. If you can't handle working with someone you may dislike, then how can you handle moderating someone you may dislike? this makes me foresee grudging and other issues arising and I'm not a fan. I don't particularly not support you, but given your stance on the situation I can't bring myself to support you either.

Nanotoxins Moderator Application
Xelnagahunter replied to nanotoxin's topic in Moderator Applications Archives
I like that you two are trying to respectfully tell each other to "fuck off". However either of you being willing to take back your desire to be staff due to another person shows me that you don't want it enough to look past differences. This can lead to grudges being held against non-staff in a manner that I don't see good for the server. I don't support or not support in particular, Nano. I'm just stating what I feel about your current stance. -
honestly I still don't understand weapons and combat. Last time I tried to fight a nuke ops guy I was poking him with a turned off stun baton because I'm a nub. If I had it on I'd have won the fight, but yup. I've only fired a weapon on two occasions. On one I shot an IPC by mistake, who then murdered me while I apologised, and for the other I managed to take out a drone near the bridge. I really didn't even know changing to capture intent was a thing. If anything that should start on capture as default and have to be manually set for players who are more robust and able to use the system without harming everyone while they try to learn.

Poor Meowy. I can't wait to have you back.

If you go this, get the owl suit from the holodeck.

I superly and stupidly interested in this. I want to get my Head knowledge out of one department and into others starting with science and moving on the engineering. I'm already whitelisted so there's that, but I'm always down to learn. As it stands my HoP is already based off of time spent training with Raymond Galloway as an executive assistant. I look forward to seeing your Mentor Application Process.

I agree on increasing the janitor slots. I almost feel the janitor availability for "unskilled" NT employees would be stupid high, as in unlimited. Especially since they are known to be prone to SSD (maybe due to constant chemical exposure). The thought of adding trash bags and space cleaner is a bit more of a buff than you think though. Yes, a detective can find a blood that has been cleaned, but if a crime scene has zero visible blood and no other indicators, such as parts from the chopped up body that got tossed in a trash bag, then why check for cleaned blood? Many people will get smart and creative when hiding and disposing of bodies. As of now, if you aren't the janitor or someone with access to the limited amount of cleaning supplies on station then the mess is something you have to learn to deal with. If you ARE someone with that access, then you have chosen a proper job to perfectly hide bodies and it becomes a unique part of that role. TL;DR don't make syndie janitors feel underwhelmed with their limited access. Let them keep their gameplay boon and allow them to have an army of floor mopping slip masters.

XanderDox's Head of Staff Application
Xelnagahunter replied to a topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I'm curious about the whitelist strip myself. I've only been here just over two months and I recall Captain Nox pretty clearly. I'm not saying you don't deserve the whitelist back, but if you asked for it striped then it wasn't that long ago. Meaning your pretty mush turning right back around. I like your reason behind wanting to the whitelist too, we need more mentors about. -
"Do you think this character is fit to be a Head of Staff?"
Xelnagahunter replied to a topic in General
It's not about the player being questioned, it's about the character. Of course a player can have insecurities about playing a new role. I still do with my HoP, I don't want to let anyone down. You can't have players who know what they are doing without letting them try when they don't. -
I was very interested in this game when I saw it hit the Steam market. Sadly I'm not rich enough to buy my own Steam games anymore.

Hypathia is all extended all the time, right? And I think their average/minimum play time is 4 hours.

Monkey is the exact reason I'm even here, he brought me here as an acquaintance due to another group that introduced us. HE tought me how to use the system and the basics of roleplay on Aurora. I'm not going to give my support or anything due to a sense of bias or favoritism, but I'll point out that I'm head-whitelisted and have yet to get into any trouble after his tutelage, so I think a consideration should be made here.
