  1. Not much. Just chillin' in the backroom of a porn store.
  2. I dind't vote for her, but she was one of my 6 nominees. I'm shocked to see Derringer on there and even more so since he has two votes. He's just a crippled captain who doesn't make friends easily because he wants the crew to see him as a leader instead of a buddy, he's just not a dick about it.

    Socks!

The thing is that those who are for the idea of adding socks ARE trying to stay away from that concept. By avoiding this conversation because of that kind of conversation, you have given those who are against the idea ammo. All they have to do is keep that kind of conversation going for this and any similar ideas to be shut down and possibly locked/binned. I don't see the problem with the idea, ERP is against our rules and that's that. If people cross lines because socks were added we stamp out the issue by removing toxic players, as has been an established method.
  4. Actually the captain only has command and security on by default. Any others have to be turned on manually. If you aren't interested in what they have to say then don't have it on. I filter a lot of chat when I play captain/AI because I get nearby chat/emotes, global LOOC, OOC, Msay, dead chat, Mod logs, Attack Logs, etc. now imagine thre people pushing each other in a hallway and each one giving you two lines of text per push, now every department is going and your the AI so you can't toggle them off with a headset. Then an ahelp comes in. YAY! However, I still fully support this idea. I like people having an option. General comms flood as it is while people try to chat from one department to the next, why not give a group of people who have to work together a way to communicate easily? It's not about "we don't have it but everyone else does", It's about "let us work efficiently among ourselves without pissing everyone off.
  5. whelp... I want this to be cannon now.
  6. You know, I'm actually all for/with the idea. It'll make the game play out with a standardized time and give some real time feedback about this. My captain Currently brings a watch with him because it belonged to his grandfather, but he doesn't wear it most of the time. Something like this might give me more reason to chose it. On the flip side, I can understand the way we do it now. The "inconsistency" that come with good morning/afternoon/evening can easily be played off as variances in planets/stations/time zones. Two players come to work on the aurora, both launch from earth, chances are it's not the same time for them both. Either way, this Idea is nifty and adds a touch of realistic measure, but if it doesn't get added, there are many ways to shrug off the inconsistency of the greetings.
  7. I recently got a 3 month membership. $10 wasn't too big a hit, and this is coming from a guy who hasn't been able to pay his rent on time for a few months now. ((Yes, I am doing my best to fix that.))
  8. Actually, My own character is not my favorite. I really didn't expect to see any of my characters up there, let alone the one that is there.
  9. I can't be in the games. My character is a cripple. XD
  10. So the antagonist needs to come up with new idea's and plans. This isn't an end-all game changer. Although saying that I will have to disagree with motion sensors being in place because Warden's will use that to leave their post and avoid work, which results in a huge fuss and possibly a demotion if they're acting like a newcop about it. I also feel like I should point this out: If motion-sensors are placed in the Armoury then for every round there is an active AI or borg, the Warden's job will need to be blacked out so no one can have it, because there's no use for their role anymore. Do we really want to go that far? I can't possibly see how this would work. A warden's job is not effected by motion sensors at all. Sure, they have to worry less about unauthorized access, but inventory is still something they can do. They have access to it so they can pass out weaponry to officers. Their post also includes care and processing of prisoners, not just the armory. A warden properly doing their job still has plenty to do on any round that includes someone going to a cell, which happens regularly since there is not shortage on people fucking around in any given round.
  11. I think a sensor in the AI upload and core would be good due to those locations typically meaning the AI will be dying soon. I get very tired of antags who bomb the AI 30 mins into the round. While it's tactically sound, it is justified gank since there is often little the AI player can do about it.
  12. I fully agree with our new rule. I've posted why previously. I'd be entirely for not having it too, if we could fully trust the community to stay our of the way. It's ok, in my opinion, for someone to come in with a point of view that is relevant, even without logs or the like. HOWEVER, we have to draw a line somewhere. People coming in and posting those same opinoins that were posted 6 times is repetitive and useless. It makes us read more useless junk and gives nothing to the argument. HOw can we trust people to stop making the clusterfuck worse? Make it punishable. If we could let the userbase moderate itself, we would. I promise you all of us want it easier when moderating. It's not that simple though. And we have to create ways to moderate more people with less people because we don't want a 1:1 player to staff ratio.
  13. I must not examine things enough. I think hiding it in the examine text is the best way to keep the IPCs hard to discern. Unless you can get a good solid click on it, I can't manage to click on someone walking past, then you have to take it at sprite value. If you can get a closer look via examine then you should be able to tell the difference. However, I kind of agree with the sec/med huds having a way to note that something is synthetic.
  14. As for the eyes, robotics legit just installs a camera to the head of a new Chassis. Using your KISS method, making a camera come back out makes the most sense.
  15. This is where you and I have differing opinions. Many of our IPCs are Posibrains, and these are the ones I'm thinking of. They are not robots. They are not simple computers that see the world in an on or off state. The player are playing AI units. Artificial INTELLIGENCE. They have an intellect and can respond to activities beyond the scope of what a person programs by utilizing various observations and past records. Beyond that, as Meow said, a few of the IPC players are using an MMI, meaning they aren't fully synthetic. Those players have no reason to be banned from various positions. That point aside, this thread isn't about IPCs. So I'm going to launch us back into Tajara players. The reason IPCs came up was fairness and people seeing the OOC actions limiting IC actions to be overly meta and against our established concepts. But from an IC perspective this is possible. (Note I voted to leave things as they are and just watch Taj players more closely.) The incidents that are causing this to happen could be effecting several stations that use the Odin as CC, in response they enact a ban on tajaran heads or force additional screening before they are allowed to serve in those positions. IC justification is really simple and it all stems from our IC events anyways.
  16. This is what an actual AI is designed to do however. The concept is for it to think rationally about things and to begin developing opinions. Using those opinions it can make calculated decisions about various scenarios. The limiting factor humans put in place is lawsets. Most AI units are lawed, as far as I know. Part of learning is coding those decisions themselves. If they only have preprogramed decisions and can't alter those in any way then an AI is incapable of learning. They aren't intelligences then, simply programs. So no, not a snowflake, simply a theoretical reason for a mechanic. Also, the use of the Mass Effect Character was a comparison, not trying to push for a snowflake option or saying that all IPCs should be precisely like EDI.
  17. A perfect example of Nebula's thoughts is EDI from Mass Effect. There are several times in the third game where your choices cause EDI to alter the way she perceives situations and she rewrites her own code to generate new thoughts.
  18. I love this. This is the best way to think about it. Sabotage and vandalism apply to property. Many IPCs are no longer property, they are freed for the beings that owned them initially. In this instance, the IPCs MMI or Positronic brain are always property of the consciousness within. Even if they are still paying for the shell from the company, they are generally still free. As such, the body is vandalized or sabotaged while the brain is assaulted or murdered. This just makes perfect sense.
  19. I enjoy the character and the player both. They have proven to me that they spend quite a bit of time learning something before jumping in. Support.
  20. Even as a captain, I doubt my character gets much information about the company's underhanded tactics from the brass. Just because the COMPANY is built to treat them like shit doesn't mean all of the crew/command staff knows this. If my captain gets a DO order telling him to treat Taj like shit (IE: Mutiny/Rev rounds), he will. He's implanted and has to follow orders. Fortunately I actively try not to play the captain in these situations as I don't wanna fuck anything up (Just not ready for antag style action). Personally, after 9/11 I had a wave of rage, then I was quickly shocked back into reality because I don't worship Fox News. I feel bad for how we treat Muslims, even with extremeists STILL CAUSING PROBLEMS. There is no reason a number of other people can't feel the same. I also read the news in game, and I try to tlak to people about it and get real world thoughts from everyone, and I let them help shape my characters. I'm not saying every character I have will be about fairness to all species, but I have 2 that I play regularly, and one of them is an IPC and has to deal with synthetic hate. I just think that the people who want to hate need to do it from and IC POV and intelligently and we can let the rest do what they want, it's their gaming experience, right? Added note: Maybe some people simply aren't comfortable RPing racism.
  21. Head whitelists are, as of now, blanket. I accidently joined as HoP with my IPC once. I quickly had to cryo and pretend I never existed. If their whitelist app was denied due to their character on the application, it's likely because they didn't properly ready all of the information given to them. In the head whitlist forums, where you find the template, there is also a list of what races are approved for what head positions.
  22. The only issue is that I quickly see a free vending machine in sec being abused to get free food for officers. Go to the kitchen or pay like everyone else.
