It's a Halloween party, simple as. People got drunk, people had fun and socialized. I liked the giant costume area at the start, I was honestly afraid we wouldn't have enough variety, but we had plenty. The "prop guns" were a nice touch. Shout out to Satan (She/her), who threw gang signs up during the group photo and also fake-maimed like three people LMAO. That was hilariously awesome.
  1. Reporting Personnel: GEVURAH (Gebura) Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Bridge Crew Game ID: cqs-bf3N Personnel Involved: CHESED (First Responder, witness) Sebastian Richter (Security Officer, witness) Oke Isonoe (Physician, offender) Secondary Witnesses: N/A Time of Incident: 14:35 GST, 2465-10-25 Real Time: 9:35 EST, 2023-10-25 Location of Incident: Medical bay Nature of Incident: [x] - Workplace Hazard [ ] - Accident/Injury [ ] - Destruction of Property [ ] - Neglect of Duty [ ] - Harassment [ ] - Assault [x] - Misconduct [x] - Other - Potential neglect of duty. Oke knowingly committed all that he did whilst on-duty with the potential to have cost crew their lives in the event he was immediately needed, but none such patients arrived. Overview of the Incident: Oke Isonoe entered the medical bay to perform what I assume is a standard shift. Upon his arrival, he was smoking, which is not permitted within the medical bay proper. Upon being told to stop, he did. However, he would come to return with another cigarette, this time drinking out of a bottle of Qel'Zvol Hospitality's Prestige Beer, and khlibnyz. He was told to discard his cigarette once more, and dispose of his alcohol, as drinking on-duty is poor form at best and incredibly negligent at worst. He then returned with an electronic cigarette, very clearly acting disingenuous and implying there was nothing security (Sebastian) could do despite this case of procedure-skirting. He then produced Xuizi juice and began to drink it, which although it is butanol-based and has little effect on humans, can still lead to intoxication if enough is drank. Shortly thereafter, he returned with a hypospray and began injecting himself under the pretense of it being "burn medication"; none of us (CHESED, Sebastian, and I) were able to discern any visible wounds on his person, and after five or so injections, Oke was slurring his speech and vomiting over himself, falling over and failing basic hand-eye coordination. It was then he was taken into medical for a diagnosis and treatment. I find this blatant disregard for professionalism and workplace safety incompatible with organic life and would like to request action be taken or, if required, submit this employee to a psychological evaluation or review request. Submitted Evidence: Would you like to be personally interviewed?: [x] - Yes [ ] - No Did you report it to a Head of Staff or a superior? If so, who? If not, why?: None were available. However, Officer Richter did conduct and serve an arrest. Actions taken: See above; in addition, Officer Richter tentatively served Isonoe with an i206 - Neglect of Duty charge. Additional Notes: I am unsure and frankly apprehensive about the i206 charge; I do not believe it is sufficient, and as of writing the physician is still dry heaving. In addition, Sebastian Richter and CHESED are open to interviews should the need arise, as I have asked them personally.
  2. Little bit of a different update here, I noticed it's been too long so I'll be releasing this one in parts rather than giving an indefinite "sure I'll totally get around to it." No voting for a bit, sorry storytellers.
  3. Previous I pulled the trigger. ... ... ... - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Fill yourself again with hollow words But you should know by now they all have heard So careful what you say When you walk away and haunt the halls again Pain. A very familiar feeling, in a not-so-familiar environment. My arms and legs ached, but most importantly my ribcage, the lower right quadrant of which harboring a sting I recognized as the same aggravating lightning bolt you felt when you crack something you shouldn't. I coughed up spit, and the pain worsened. As my surroundings finally faded into view past the triple-sight I had previously, I recognized the place. I was still at the bar, and I could just barely remember who I was. Kira Vasquez. That's a good name, if not for the heartbreak and hardship attached to it. You know, come to think of it, my dad told me this story of how it was supposed to be Vazquez, with a Z. Turns out my four-great grandfather had misspelt it when he got his name change, which was particularly bizarre given he had a writing major, and a minor in political sciences. What always confused me about Sol was... I shifted my weight onto my hands and knees. Something knocked me out of that looping dead-end thought pattern, but I couldn't tell what. Everything was so muffled and hard to understand, as if coated in thick cotton. My fingers, which were normally hypersensitive tools of constant labor, felt like they were wrapped in duct tape, placed in mittens, then coated with Vaseline. The one persistent feeling was that pain, which was serving more to aggravate me than raise my alarm bells. It had my attention, and shortly thereafter, it had my disinterest. "Kira." That Martian voice again. I had to channel all of my willpower into remembering the name of who it belonged to again. Ethan, again. Of course he let this happen. I shouldn't have expected anything less. "Do you need something?" Is what I tried to say. Instead what came out was, "Duh...mmgh?" I didn't even bother to sign. Then, somewhat relieving me, I felt arms dig under my own and hoist me up. Although in hindsight I realize this was a particularly normal motion, at the time it felt like I was swimming in water, all the while fighting against gravity, which was inverting itself up and down, left and right. I kicked my legs out and locked them in place, standing up shakily. That rib of mine wasn't happy with the commotion, sending bit after bit of that same organic message: hey, fix me! I felt like a child who was being reminded of the bell's timing at school, getting one-two punched by my own ignorance and to a degree my own apathy, manifesting in this quasi-sane bubbling and bellowing of anger and inattention. It was bordering on driving me crazy, the more it went on. Here I was, awakened from a peaceful, if very intoxicated and stress-driven nap and dunked into the waters of reality again. Man, I really do need an outlet. I put my full body into shaking the Martian off me, stumbling forward but catching myself. I swayed deliriously back and forth, the ground beneath me appearing to rise and fall. I knew this feeling. I knew how to combat it. I knew how to ignore it. I waved a hand at Ethan and grumbled words to the effect of, "Shut the fuck up, you Red planet outlaw." and started making my way out. It was surprising to see one leg go in front of the other again and again without tripping up on each other, an act my body is fond of when I'm drunk enough to see stars. Apparently none of my colleagues like that, because somewhere in the middle of the stream of audible vomit I heard one or two more shuffle up from their seats. Just when I thought I had some independence, I saw the bar shift--it turned on its side and then rammed into me. That pain got worse, going from aggravating to excruciating. From my throat came this guttural, visceral squawk of fury and torment helping the alcohol to better clear out of my system, and at the same time making it even harder to focus. "Kira, you're falling!" The Lunar woman called after me. What was her name? Even so, it was a bit late to say that, wasn't it? Fine, then. My thoughts drifted in and out of legibility. Pick me up and drag me out like you always do.
  4. Believe me, I feel you. I hope the lore team reconsiders, but a pirate faction is better than nothing at all.
  5. So, after some conference with Villa and word from Triogenix, this doesn't work out as an antagonist faction (through no fault of my own; word is that antagonist factions often don't exist outside of what they're written in) but could very well be a Unathi-centric pirate faction. I'm currently writing a primer for use on the Unathi Piracy part of the wiki, and you'll see that shortly. Ladies and gentlemen, it's been an honor. This being said, I don't think we'll be losing out on much.
  6. I've too much to write about Pocheto but I'm tired atm (it's 2 AM) and need more coffee (we're out). I'm just gonna keep this simple, +1, I absolutely trust them to play a *chirp.
  7. Same as above! I have no doubts that Ublicto can write and portray an IPC properly, +1!

Review reflects what I said about event 1 of the mini-arc (that of which being solid gameplay, a little less roleplay, decent fun level especially mourning a since-retconned death). Not much else to say, solid event, mass casualties, and I made a mistake by sitting in the bridge (READ: the FIRST PART THAT'S GOING TO BE SHOT) of the freebooter shuttle as the pirate captain. I got bodied really, REALLY quickly, and it was really fun roleplaying that out.
  9. This is a really good idea, actually. I might get on this, but I make no promises because history sections aren't my strong suit--that and I don't want to risk coming up with something otherworldly or inane when it comes to Aut'akh. It's a very valued Unathite faith to me.

Hi, I was the captain of the opposing vessel. There isn't a lot to talk about on my end (it was a lot of "quick, load this, shoot them, murder these fuckers!!") but that's to be expected. I had a lot of fun roleplaying in a command position as an opposing ship without going too overboard or being too antagonistic, and firing the guns alongside helping our 4-man was incredibly dynamic, with our roles shifting to the needs of what was going on. I'll split this into what I think are the most important categories: Gameplay - By this I mean direct mechanics, the fun produced by clicking and doing stuff instead of talking and thinking stuff. The gameplay was very dynamic and our 4-man swapped out as needed, communicated clearly and efficiently, and our pilot (Stev III) was fucking phenomenal. We got told to sandbag a lot, and I have to offer my thanks to our gunners (eddymakaveli and hollyhock) and pilot (again, Stev) because they were just amazing at both staying in-character and giving the Horizon hell. I know that last bit should probably go into the roleplay section, but it's worth mentioning here because it didn't impede gameplay. I think the most fun part of the gameplay was getting told by ReadThisNamePls to "Obliterate the chapel" and "no religion allowed today". Roleplay - Talking and thinking stuff. Honestly, decent enough roleplay despite our whole "just shoot them" thing. It was fun speaking with the Horizon on hailing like "yeah sure just hold on a minute" while we locked onto them and engaged combat, and the after-action RP wasn't too bad either. Not a lot to report on this front, but that's fine. Again, I'm the off-ship conflict-starter, there's not a lot of RP that's going to be happening on my end. General Satisfaction - A myriad of ways to describe why I had fun, final thoughts. I had a lot of fun with this event. From shouting Spanish over hailing comms and pissing the Horizon off, to shooting our Longbow and the rest of our guns like no tomorrow, to hearing the old nuke ops stinger when we got turned into antagonists at the start. I loved every second of it, honestly. A huge improvement from the event before this one (Starship Troopers) and compounded by the fact that it's canon. Hooray, conflict! 5/5 Stars

  11. - Reprogrammed by the League, stolen from Zeng - Stolen back by the 104th (that's my baby btw) and treated gratefully, raided the CRZ - Bought their freedom by embezzling NT money and screwing over humans This might just be the best IPC ever made, and I'm not joking. As far as +1s go, Ublicto has shown careful and cognizant thought for each character they play, Elwood Johnson especially. Because this is the place I can tell people to pound sand if they think Elwood is another dime-a-dozen Sol secoff, that's what I'm gonna do. I can't see anything going wrong from Ublicto having the ability to *beep.
  12. First of all, I despise Maglina as a character, and now that I know you play them I can tell you to your face how much I hate them /pos. +1, very well written. Secondly, I feel like you should add a bit more personality to this bug in the background. Why would it choose work aboard a corporate vessel instead of a naval or military one? What does it think of being bred for combat and forced into it most or all of its life? Does it have any goals beyond serving as a premier k'laxan example, like seeking a greater understanding of the world around it?
  13. Ulery, Iota, and Sylv are all interesting characters that I like to see on the manifest from time to time. I've been meaning to play my service characters a bit more anyhow, so +1! I'm interested in seeing a trial.
  14. BYOND Key: Dessysalta Character Names: Species you are applying to play: Dionae What color do you plan on making your first alien character: N/A (Diona) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yup! Why do you wish to play this specific race: After interacting with characters like Hope Burns Brightly, and Blood Soaked Departure From Paradise, I really liked the dynamic that gestalts can have both on their own (with themselves) and the people around them. I think using melodic and metaphorical music terms to describe how they think on a fundamental level is really interesting and poetic, especially Voided Vocals and Mourning Mass mindtypes. I originally wanted to explore something to do with the name "Justice Served Not Through Peace But Violence", but now I really want to do something involving the latter of what I mentioned, the Mourning Mass. Honestly, I just think Dionae have interesting biological traits (like forming into giant spires made of nymphs, or learning just by taking in blood) and the few times I've seen them I've loved interacting with them. I personally want to explore the JSNTPBV idea later, and focus on making a sorrow-ridden gestalt for now. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Dionae behave in strange ways, especially considering they "gain" intelligence by forming up with and communicating with other nymphs in a gestalt, not even counting bloodlearning. It's a little hard for me to describe how their minds work because I think of it like splitting off pieces of yourself, where those pieces take a piece of you with it (and by all means, this is how they work in a lot of respect) and then bring back wholly new experiences or thoughts when they rejoin with you. When it comes to processing situations, most Dionae won't engage in combat unless its strictly defensive in nature, and different mindtypes will interpret it even deeper than that; some won't even consider fighting defensively in cases like a Mourning Mass, where losing a piece of themselves is completely out of the question, or a Chaotic Cacophony, where each nymph might just split and run with a great enough threat to its safety. For mindtypes and views on other species (or even themselves), just one particularly notable experience or case of bloodlearning can be enough to shift how a gestalt operates, what mindtype it can be considered, etc. Mechanically speaking (and biologically too), Dionae need light and radiation to live, and without it they'll die. They can't run, but can reform wounds just by standing in light or radiation for a long enough time, and are unaffected by things like atmosphere and pressure. They're also either more vulnerable to pain or less depending on their classification as either a Coeus or Geras gestalt. Character Name: A Funeral For Yesterday's Promises And Wake For Alliance Anew Please provide a short backstory for this character: Funeral started from humble beginnings, having split from a greater Argus during its first few years in the Sparring Sea, exploring the cosmos and drifting through nothingness while distant starlight kept it nourished and the occasional, but very rare nymph or ship would pass it by and lend it knowledge. For the longest time, roughly ten years, it had gone through variations of names such as "Fluorescence To Drink" to "Quiet Numbness Embodies All" and, eventually, it happened upon one of the first Tarwa ships and chose to integrate itself as a crewman within. It had very little concept of how to assist aside from menial labor and constant bloodlearning, acquiring knowledge of the crew within and shaping itself to be as useful as it could to its brethren that offered it shelter. For the next twenty-five years, Bonds Between Comradery And Need would come to know their scalemates, eventually settling on one in particular: Krou'zo Tarwa, a middle-aged Sinta that aligned himself with the Fang Captain Tarskin Tarwa in support of his cause and thirst for fame. Eventually, on what would be the gestalt's 38th birthday, Krou'zo hit an age where he began slowing down; his early 50s. It was then that he decided the pirate's life wasn't for him, and after having raided one too many ships, he decided he would pursue civilian life come next year. Bonds took interest in this idea, so much so that it asked if it could accompany Krou'zo on his journey, to seek the unknown and be rid of this life even after having learned so much from it. Krou'zo agreed, and for their last year together, they slept in the same bed, worked together far more than previously, and came up with plans and sightseeing spots on their calendars for when they would finally come to depart. ...The Sparring Sea had other plans. A week before what was to be Krou'zo and Bonds' departure, disaster struck. A Hegemony ship had strayed too far from its patrol route, and the ship that housed the gestalt and its lover had been too liberal in its maneuvers. Kataphracts rammed the ship and blew holes through the airlocks; burnt those who stayed inside and cut the many vines of nymphs on the exterior. The attack was ultimately unsuccessful, but that was not to say there weren't casualties. One of them was Krou'zo, mortally wounded even with the help of Bonds' nymphs and what remained of their medical bay. The Sinta had held onto life as best as he could, but his light was fading--something the gestalt had never wanted to experience again. "Bondsss..." He croaked. "Ekssperiensse...what I could not. Pleassse. Go." "We will not leave you again." The gestalt replied. The Sinta bared his teeth akin to a grin. "Then take me with you." Each droplet of blood the gestalt ingested was filled with pain, so much pain that it overran what little agenda it had before. Krou'zo would live on, if not in body, then in spirit. Funeral, wracked with grief and burden, stepped onto an independent shuttle with a new consciousness; and with it, new song. Hear, o' stars, my desperate plea To see my love beside me. Sunk below the Sparring Sea, His anchor weighs upon me. Fasten his tether unto me, For he may rise to sail free. What do you like about this character? I loved coming up with the idea of a Mourning Mass for one of my all-time favorite pirate groups, the Tarwa Conglomerate. A friend of mine helped me name them. I really, really like the idea of a gestalt that wants to spend its time seeing the world for (and "with") its lover, experiencing new things and hopefully achieving some peace and happiness in the long run. It'd be my first passenger character, and I'm excited to see where they go as a person, if they pursue employment, etc. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I usually give this answer an 8/10, so we'll say 8/10. Notes: Just some lore team questions. Also, the above lyrics are shamelessly editorialized from the Hades OST, specifically Lament of Orpheus. It's what gave me the original inspiration for this character.
  15. Gilt is an amazing roleplay whom I've only ever had positive experiences with (especially with Kuri making it her life goal to die constantly). +1, I'd love to see them in command.
  16. I included these questions in my OG post! Scroll past the Unathi questions but above the "extra comments" section.
  17. Ckey/BYOND Username: dessysalta Position Being Applied For: Unathi Lore Deputy Have you read the Lore Team Rules and Regulations wiki page? Pretty sure! (yes) Past Experiences/Knowledge: It's been I think a pretty solid decade I have of writing various things and roleplaying; mostly on platforms like Discord and other RPG games. Throughout the years, I've been a moderator or founding member of various roleplay servers (currently I'm an admin on a Discord one and have been for about a year) over the years but stepped down for one reason or another, usually because of a lack of creative freedom paired with things like schooling (which I'm finished with now). If you count attempts, I also applied to be staff on SS14, but that ended up being denied for activity reasons (this was about 3 years ago, and to be entirely frank, I have no interest in moderating SS14 nowadays). Because I think it's worth mentioning, each of my race applications have gone through with no hiccups whatsoever and demonstrated an adequate enough understanding of each race's lore to not warrant any questioning (except my Vaurca one, but it was more of a "hey, just in case" pointer). Wasn't sure whether or not to put this in "examples of past work" or not, so I'll stay on the safe side and put it here. Examples of Past Work: A successful Lore Canonization Application for the Zandiziite Games An ongoing Lore Canonization Application based off the description of the crimson hardsuit/voidsuit that references the Gorlex Marauders and has a Unathi and Human focus And two docs that I've made for personal use on the server, such as a document for my Drek'za clan for those who want to make a Drek'za, and a list of names dedicated to the Southern Solarian Military District's 104th Fleet for those who want to make a 104ther from the now-defunct Wildlands. Additional Questions 1. How do you feel about the current state of Unathi lore? Are there any areas that you particularly want to expand on?: I like the current state of Unathi lore, frankly I feel like Unathi is hands down the coolest race next to synthetics and Vaurca. I got attached to Unathi pretty immediately after reading some introductory lore for things like Moghes, the Contact War, etc. and how much of a stark difference the race is compared to fairly standard human characters (and sometimes synthetics, sorry IPCs). The race has a great set of fundamentals and a decent amount of content for those who want to make more diverse or unique Unathi (i.e. using the Zandiziite Games in an application like I did, Aut'akh as a whole, the various pirate factions one can come from or be arrested for associating with) but I feel like it falls flat or isn't portrayed properly in the way of religion. That's not to say I don't like the religions, I love them, but the most I see on-ship is the usage of "ancestors" from time to time and the rare shaman (Aut'akh characters are exempt from this, every one of them so far has loved talking about their augments and prayer). There's a few areas I'd want to expand on, and in no particular order they're: - Pirate factions and criminal guilds. This is best highlighted in my recent application under the name of Gorlex Marauders (currently undergoing a rename at the time of writing). Unathi piracy has some great roots, don't get me wrong. There's no issue with the typical "let's do some raiding and pillaging so we can keep afloat or get grand riches" theme that pretty much every pirate media adheres to, but I'd like some more depth on this front. Piracy and criminal guilds should have more motivation behind "let's do some raiding and pillaging so-" (okay, point made, move on) and I think a good way to start is by implementing the common supplier for a lot of these fleets. Something I especially like is how cool the Tarwa Conglomerate is, how they can be interpreted as normal thieving pirates or a Fang Captain forced to leave his home because of his affinity with an entirely separate race. You can just as easily call them bad guys as you can good guys, and the Marauders are no different on that front; with a wide set of ideals that varies from Sinta to Sinta (and human and the other races that are within the Marauders) there's a greater sense of depth past "these guys disobey the law because anarchy, dammit," not to imply the existing factions or guilds do. The Shortclaw Clan and Shadow Service are both criminal organizations, but not to a scale that can rival any major manufacturer or corporation, which brings me to: - Involvement with Hephaestus and the other corporations. Since Hepht has a monopoly in Unathi society and its economy, I want there to be more interactions ICly other than "I like Hephaestus" or "I don't like Hephaestus," because as a player I feel like that's what I've been seeing. There should be some more Hephaestus-based Unathi prosthetics or loadout items and augments that play into its role in Unathi society, things like more grandiose Aut'akh augments (I understand this could be a point of contention given Aut'akh's strange and often negative relations with Hephaestus, but it could be done in an interesting way) or specialized clothing, visually-different-but-mechanically-identical tools that are designed to be more in-tune with Unathi anatomy, et cetera. On the topic of other corporations, Zavodskoi should absolutely have some extra tools or Unathi-specific items, suits, etc. which is a great segue to: - Unathi in Dominia (and other places). This one will probably be the shortest bullet point because it's the thing I'm the least familiar with. The Empire of Dominia is a cool place lore-wise, I like the amount of depth and no-nonsense personality it has with its inhabitants, and I think a good place to start on a lateral expansion of Unathite influence would be here. Particularly, I think playing into my first point by introducing another pirate faction in the name of Kazhkz, think the opposite of Hiskyn's Revanchists, or by expanding their influence within the two Dominian Houses they hold, or by giving them more land/culture/etc. to work with. Unathi don't exist much outside of their home system and Dominia, and I'd like to see more of that. 2. Propose an Unathi-centric event arc to be run on the Horizon. You don't need to go super in-depth, just a summary will do: Shamelessly pulling a page out of Lent's application (hi, Lent! Thanks for saying my clan is cool and helping me develop Unathi stuff), something to do with Hephaestus' place within the Conglomerate and Unathite society is a great start, as mentioned above. Lent does a better job of proposing this arc, so I'll spare you the details, but something to do with Unathi being the first race to obtain Captaincy ability would be awesome. An arc that I've thought about (and I realize this'll sound a little self-centered because I'm talking about my own LCA again, but stay with me here) in relation to my Gorlex LCA would be varying degrees of antagonistic (or beneficial) behavior from the soon-to-be-renamed Marauders that leads to either complete vilification or a necessary armistice/alliance with the Conglomerate and various areas that had previously outlawed it. A rough outline of the arc would be something like this: The Horizon takes a trip to either Hegemony space or back to the Badlands, particularly the planet Greima in the latter case. Hephaestus has announced they've all but pioneered previously undiscovered technology that would aid in mining operations for the acquisition of phoron; things like drills with tiny shield capacitors to protect from overheating, enhanced turret and point-defense systems to deter Greimorian presence, etc. A point of contention arises while the Horizon is aiding a Hephaestus team on-site in setting up a mining rig, that of which being an injured crew member, sabotaged equipment, generally anything that could be explained by the Badlands just being the Badlands, bonus points if the crew is gaslit into thinking it actually was the Badlands fauna by running into a colossal grem immediately after the fact or otherwise discovering something that would yield the same result through different means. Further questions rise when unmarked weaponry and unrecognized equipment and armor is spotted strewn about blood and guts; it doesn't look Solarian in make, it fits a Sinta's claws wonderfully, and there's no serial number or marking to denote who or what made it. This leads to Hephaestus and other parties operating in or around Greima questioning the Horizon given their scientists' abilities to make more-than-lethal weaponry that similarly doesn't bare a particular proof of creation. Following further gunfights or sabotage by what is assuredly not the local fauna and habitat, the Horizon's crew is tentatively blamed for its involvement given the circumstances, how most of this conflict arose after it had docked or remained in orbit. The climax of the event would feature player-led sabotage, the saboteur in this case being one who aligns themselves with the up-and-coming group of the Not-Yet-Renamed-Gorlex-Marauders, begging the question of who they are, what they do, and why they're on Greima of all places. The climax could go several ways, with successful sabotage leading to a full assault team or pirate gang armed with Gorlex weaponry, failed sabotage leading to enhanced questioning and the outing of the individual in question's past, which then brings us to the finale: A (set of?) Marauders having been captured or offering themselves to speak on behalf of their group and what they stand for. This would lead into its page on the wiki and capability to be used in an official capacity as a backstory, antagonist gimmick, off-ship roles, or really anything else that could come from this. This would breathe new life into antagonistic gimmicks, finally rid the codebase and overarching lore of broad "Syndicate" nonsense that hasn't been canon in years, provide an additional faction or corporation to either build a character or gimmick around, introduce relations between it and existing factions, etc. all while keeping the playerbase included and having the event's setting play into the Horizon's goal as an expeditionary vessel as discovering phoron. Here's my answer to some questions asked by RustingWithYou in Lent's application, I figured I'd answer these myself just in case. 3. How patient would you say you are when waiting on other people? Specifically, waiting on other people to finish their responsibilities in a collective project? I can be fairly patient when it comes to this, but I can get frustrated at a project remaining incomplete for large swathes of time, especially if I put forth a lot of effort and passion into it. Generally speaking, if I don't have anything else to align myself with/work on in the meantime, it can be hard to stay quiet about a project that has yet to be completed--but never expect me to be rude or ignorant. I'm conscious about how other people choose to spend their time, and at the end of the day, I'm not going to insult or throttle anyone for not contributing to a passion project. 4. How well do you take criticism? Do you struggle with anything specific when it comes to your work being criticized? To make a long story short, I love criticism when its backed with ideas to further what led to the criticism in question (i.e. "this group's [x thing] is weird, how about [y thing]?") but things like "I dislike this" or "this is pretentious/stupid/etc." really only serve to agitate me. There needs to be well-articulated reasoning behind the criticism, because otherwise the face value of "this is/isn't [x thing]" doesn't contribute anything in the way of creative thinking or progress. It can be a little hard for me to kill my darlings, but if there's an amazing narrative ending or conclusion to doing so, I'll do it without any hesitation. 5. As a lore writer, you'll be expected to contribute to things that are a team-wide or multi-team responsibility - corporations, Biesel, other multi-species locations such as Gakal'zaal. Do you feel comfortable doing this? Definitely! I prefer working in smaller cells of communities and projects because it cuts out middlemen and its much easier to talk to say, two people rather than twenty, but that doesn't mean I'm unable to work with large teams. I understand that being a lore dep will mean I have to come face to face with a lot of things I didn't previously consider, and I hope that my time as a lore dep (whether I decide it isn't for me or if I become a loremaster years from now) lends me a greater understanding of the overall lore of the Spur and how to contribute to the many, many facets of Aurora lore. 6. Lastly, when it comes to writing, how do you feel about writing things you don't enjoy in the moment or aren't personally passionate about? Passion is a mixture of spur-of-the-moment and momentum-based-influence for me. It's as easily started from some niche thing I like about the lore (like the Zandiziite Games) as it is snowballed into a ginormous project that I pour my soul into over the course of weeks, slogging away (meant in the most positive way possible) at something in order to make it as well-made and presentable as possible. Writing things I don't enjoy has always been somewhat difficult to me, but there's a difference between not enjoying what I write and finding it useless to do so in the first place. This is probably really pretentious and goofy to think, but the story my dad told me about how Ernest Hemingway was almost wholly against writing The Old Man and the Sea (the same novel that would go on to win him a Nobel Prize in literature) I think is worth mentioning here. Just because I dislike working on something, doesn't mean I'll turn down the idea or create something awful. Tl;dr I prefer working on things I actively enjoy and are passionate about, but it's as much the destination as it is the journey. Additional comments: I was told by Lent that I should shoot my shot for a lore writer or deputy position, so here it is! I have a lot of free time on my hands due to some mixed signals and circumstances within my life, and I figure the worst case scenario is I learn tons of new things about how Aurora is made behind the scenes, and how to better create things that align themselves with the lore. I'm more than excited and willing to learn how things are done here, and the thought of creating something a community loves that gets passed down from writer to writer over the years sounds so cool.
  18. Tentative new name from a friend (hi Lent): The Razortail Marauders (or some other name involving Razortail, i.e. Razortail Congregate, Razortail Hellion, etc.) And from a different friend, if we doubled down on Gorlex, we could give them extra depth by first being named "The Unbound Minds of Gorlex" and then swapping over to the Marauders once they were referred to as such by a news outlet. Thoughts?
  19. Naming is hard. Gorlex hit every nail, I honestly didn't go into this thinking I'd have to rename it.
  20. I'll try to get this, but no promises. I'll see what I can do. If/when this undergoes a name change, I want to keep the general usage of "marauder" to refer to someone in it because that's badass. I'm open to suggestions on this front. Some initial ideas: Fenrir's Angels Hunter's Cradle Frankly it's pretty difficult to come up with something that doesn't use "marauders" because using it sort of defeats the point of changing the name at all. Whoever came up with "Gorlex Marauders" hit every mark you need in a cool name. I'll be phoning some friends.
  21. Behold, logos! Art done by my lovely, sketchalicious :]
  22. Putting out a long heartfelt paragraph doesn't do justice when it comes to what I think about Lent as a writer. A lot of his ideas are rooted in fundamentals but not such that they're oversaturated or overdone with nonsense we've seen a hundred times over. I think the proposed arcs above also demonstrate his ability to create and connect other parts of lore in a meaningful fashion. I'm a little biased because he told me my clan is cool, but I really can't think of a better addition to the lore team. Tl;dr Man, it sure would suck if you made the Drek'za and Tau'ha'nor clans canon. +1!
  23. +1! I trust Pocheto to write a Unathi well on many fronts, especially after interacting with them one too many times on Aurora. And also because they said they'd make a Drek'za. The only thing I think you should expand upon is how religion plays a part in Unathi society/for Auk'razzi. It's a big part of who they are collectively. What does she believe in? How does it affect her?
