  1. A nymph learns the primary communication of the Horizon and gives Crusher nightmares
  2. Oh, yeah, same here >.< Sorry
  3. Hello! 1. Livix'x is a Receiver, like most citizens of the Federation. The dangers of using psionics towards other species was made clear very early in their development, and the lesson stuck, but they made sure to keep training their proficiency for use with other Skrell, as well as those with the Psionic Receiver implant. 2. Livix'x views the Federation in an overwhelmingly positive light. Factoring in both their status as a Receiver, as well as their family's actions, Livix'x has no reason to doubt that the Federation only ever wants what is best for the Spur as a whole. Recent events such as the Nralakk-Izweski Mutual Prosperity Agreement have shown that the Federation can help others, and in Livix'x's mind, will help everyone, when the time is right. 3. Livix'x understands very little of the Tajara, since they did not have much interaction with them. While the Federation has had decent relations with the People's Republic of Adhomai with Project Unity Initiative, Livix'x has not had enough contact to understand how the People's Republic had not one, but two of their own Lyukal movements. They fear that the specifics will never fully make sense. The Unathi, Livix'x views with a mix of fear and respect. Their fear stems from a childhood fear of the Fog Crawlers, and the somewhat similar appearance between the two, but Livix'x tries to control such childish emotions as best as they can. It is unseemly to be afraid of one's allies for nothing more than how they appear. The respect towards the Unathi comes from the Mutual Prosperity Agreement, the firm hand taken by the Hegemon in regards to traitors who would turn against the established order and slaughter innocents, as well as the graceful acceptance of the Federation's help. Vaurca are viewed with respect and a small dash of pride, for how well the C'thur work with the Federation. Their diligent work ethic, inquisitive minds, and new viewpoints have helped Livix'x understand their place in the Federation, and they treat the Vaurca with the dignity and respect that any member of the Federation deserves. Dionae are relatively widespread on Tattuqig, and much of the Second Federation's history have shown that the Dionae are clear evidence that the people of the Spur are better together. Their long viewpoints are easier to comprehend than the other species, who panic about hours and minutes incessantly. The Nymphs are curious and adorable, and Livix'x enjoys working with them to watch them grow, play, and understand the world around them. IPCs are confusing. Despite the fact that they are synthetic intelligences who almost certainly have some sort of suspicious programming that will lead to the eventual detriment of the Spur, they don't seem to be doing anything about it. Many of Livix'x's human acquaintances have shown that most IPCs are not bad, but they haven't had enough personal encounters with the synthetics to make their own opinion, instead having concerns transmitted through the Nlom. 4. Livix'x is a follower of Qeblak, using Cosmic Mathematics to understand the world around them. For a very short time, they did dip into Weishii, but found themselves unable to find comfort in drugs and lackadaisical attitude towards education. This small dip into Weishii still leaves them with a great respect for nature, and a preference towards vegetarian food. They practice Sqai'Tzi in their free time, using it to aid their meditation and focus. Suur'ka and Kir'gul are both viewed negatively by the Federation, but there are some lessons that are useful, such as Kir'gul's dedication towards nonviolence or Suur'ka's dedication towards mental strength and understanding. However, Livix'x does not follow either. 5. Skrell living outside the Federation are an interesting study on how their lives differ from those in the Federation. While the Skrell in the Solarian Alliance and former Sol-aligned locations may seem to have things together, they are not living up to their full potential. Livix'x believes that, while living abroad does give new viewpoints and understandings, one must return to the Federation occasionally, to re-acclimatize to living in the best part of the spur and ensure that they are still in good standing. 6. How would anyone feel about their friends and family spitting in their face and leaving? The people who left with the Exodus made their decision, guided by fear, misunderstandings, deviant attitudes, or just misinformation. They abandoned the people of Tattuqig, they abandoned the settlements they worked so hard on, they abandoned the Federation. If they want back into the Federation, then they have work to do to make up for it, and deserve support in doing so, but if not? If not, they are Lu'Nioh, Stardust, and do not deserve the hand extended out towards them again. While Livix'x would not cheer their misfortune, they likewise would not offer aid unless requested to do so. And, understood for the VA portion of the backstory, I will mark that part out going forward.
  4. Hi there! Livix'x's Score is a relatively good 6.89. They hope to improve it through lots of hard work, though! Their dream is to make it to an upper Primary Numerical, over 8.00! While Livix'x does love Fjylo and prefers to eat vegetarian when possible, they were introduced to the wonders of Pizza through the science teams their Qrri'Myaq worked with, and then later ended up being exposed to a wide variety of Mictlani foods during their work on Swimstars. Understanding others' cuisine is part of understanding their culture, and understanding leads to more efficient dialogue and cooperation between new friends! As for a pet, Livix'x did not directly have a pet, but did spend quite a bit of time researching the Root Grazers of their homeworld, wishing to keep one as a pet. Unfortunately, due to the lack of domestication, Livix'x was unable to fulfill that dream, but does eventually want one! Having learned of how interesting the Horseshoe Crab of Sol is, that is their new dream pet. Thanks for the questions! Please let me know if you'd like any more information
  5. BYOND Ckey: ATGiltspire Discord username: ATGiltspire Character names: Sylvie Renaud, Amalia Moniz, Yvonne Moon Species you are applying to play: Skrell ------------------------------ General Whitelist Requirements What colour do you plan on making your first alien character?: 690C88 dark purple Have you read the lore pages for the species you wish to be whitelisted for?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this species?: I like the ideological concept of the Skrell, and enjoy interacting with the various conceptual entities of both the Free Traverse and the Federation. In addition to the mechanical effects of Skrell, the entire inclusion of Psionics and the Srom add in a new feature to gameplay that helps them feel extremely different from any other species. What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?: Due to their culture and upbringing, Skrell are focused on a more cohesive decision-making process than Humans. With their long lifespan, they also are less in a hurry to do things, preferring to understand repercussions in decades. With the difficulty of conveying emotions to non-Skrell, it can seem like they don't find things as funny or scary as others, but finding ways to communicate emotions without just laughing or the like will present a fun and interesting challenge. ------------------------------ Character Application Character Name: Livix'x Qorril Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon. Livix'x Qorril (SCS 6.89) is a rather young Xiiori Skrell, having been born in the city of Qaroq’xlip on Tattuqig. Their Qrri'Myaq, Ju'Orloo, was a diplomat working with Zeng-Hu's archaeology team just outside the city. Spending time with the various visitors, Livix'x became acquainted with the Sparks, and began studying their media to have some form of connection with the archaeologists. They found themselves enjoying the media, but commonly became confused and concerned by the various deductive behaviors exhibited by the characters. Their distaste led them to begin focusing more on Skrell media, falling in love with the characters in Q'iix-Aqqx'xaq-que (Swimstars). With this new drive, Livix'x found themselves working tirelessly on connecting the lessons learned about other cultures to the Zeng-Hu teams that they encountered. Livix'x underwent their Odurserr, recieving many gifts from friends, family, and the scientists they worked with. However, the item the ended up burning was a pamphlet showing their local representatives, signifying that they wished to become a diplomat to the other species. This would be a long process, of course, and Livix'x was just starting out. Their first foray into politics began in an unlikely place, however, and it was Q'iix-Aqqx'xaq-que that gave them the opportunity. In Season 7 of the Animated Series, the Swimstars team ends up dealing with several unlikely foes, including a competition against another Reefgarden swimming team, Kuo-Poa. However, voices were needed for characters, and Livix'x put their application forward with little expectations of success. Their voice seemed to strike the right mark, however, and they were called in to voice a minor antagonist, Qina, who was hostile to the Stars due to their fear of humans. It led to a long discussion about the culture of Mictlan, and they were even able to go visit Biesel for a time. Returning home, Livix'x became even more devoted to the Federation, and becoming a Representative. As a field exercise, they have been dispatched to act as a Representative Aide, and learn more about how the people of the Federation interact with others. How has the recent events of the Orion Spur impacted your character? Events such as the Phoron Scarcity, the Solarian Collapse or even the Invasions of Biesel for interstellar-wide affairs, while region-specific events such as the Peacekeeper Mandate, The Titan Rises or even Cold Dawn may impact your character. Despite Livix'x's young age, the past several years have had quite a large impact. With the spread of the news of the Wayfarer Network, the fear of the Phoron Scarcity was greatly alleviated, but the loss of lives during the Beauchamp Massacre still provoked some concern as to how dangerous the Spur could be, especially from those who hate the established order. When the Hegemony reached out to speak to the Federation, Livix'x saw it as clear evidence that the Federation knew what was best for the Spur, and holds the important work as evidence that the way forward for all is together, not separate. How does your character view the megacorporation they work for? While Livix'x does not directly work for any megacorporation, they view the Federation in a very positive light, believing that the Federation will help lead the entire Spur to a better life. In terms of megacorporations, Livix'x views Zeng-Hu the best, due to significant prior experience.
  6. Getting bullied, crying, sad, Dominia-scorned.
  7. Some things, like apex predators, maint drones, and hivebots should totally just run at you. An apex predator is usually 1.) Big, and 2.) Bigger than that. They don't dodge because it's a waste of energy. The simple-minded bots of Drones and Hivebots also wouldn't dodge. Maint drones due to not having any sort of expectation to do so in their daily lives, and hivebots because, well, honestly, they are small enough that clicking on them is hard.
  8. I also want to point out... If you are a consular who has a missing leg or other movement disability, you're locked out of your office, pretty much. There is no way to get to the office without dragging yourself up the stairs. This kind of shuts down the entire new ruling allowing consulars and representatives to have disabilities.
  9. I've played a few rounds with the OM of Tones, and I enjoy working with them quite a bit! I am excited to see them on the manifest, even if it does cause me to be forced to duel them for the rank of OM +1, a lot of fun working with you!
  10. You kept this for quite a while, didn't you?
  11. The current idea on how to get it to work would be similar to the current Microphone's translation feature, except it would work for a different language than TCB, and would give the little prefix from the Written Language version, so... "SOL" for Solarian Common, "UNA" for Sinta'Unathi, and... I don't really know the other ones. This would also be good for members of the crew who have a native language other than TCB, to give them things to talk about with other crew, and drive RP: "Why do you keep looking at that device?" "Oh, it translates to a language I am better at!"
  12. Throughout Adhomai and Moghes, away teams have encountered the natives who do not always speak Tau Ceti Basic. Now, currently, there is a circuit that translates heard statements into Tau Ceti Basic. My idea is that, with an upgraded PICP, we could have one that translates into Sinta'Unathi, Siik'maas, Nral'malic, Rootsong, Sol Common, and Freespeak. There could be a strict limit of only allowing one Microphone circuit per device, or the complexity of those circuits could be raised to represent the fact that they were not made in the basic programming language. This stops expedition teams from being entirely stopped by a lack of a translator for relatively common languages, as long as science or the machinist can provide the parts. This will help expeditions have a more fun time interacting with planetary ghost roles, and add a bit more flavour to interactions, as the devices are used to create a link between those that travel the stars and the people of the worlds we visit.
  13. BYOND key: ATGiltspire Discord Username: atgiltspire Character names: Current ones are Hazel #S-H9.223 Morgan Raye Vakha Richardson How long have you been playing on Aurora? A bit over a year now Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? Yes. One ban for antag-rushing Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame? The Head of staff ingame is to provide a clear and concise way to tie the disparate groups together by connecting them with a team that can direct them appropriately. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them? A whitelisted player is supposed to act as an example. They are able to help others who are new, and work out problems before it becomes larger. They also act as a driving force for RP, by assigning tasks and assisting the round towards whatever conclusion it may be going, whether that be a peaceful expedition, or a violent conflict. Explain how the recent events in the Spur changed your character and how they came to be employed on the SCCV Horizon. Seki Tau'ha'nor has been a regional manager of Hephaestus since just after the Ouerean revolt. After the Synthetic Nightmares of Konyang, they continued to work hard, also getting training in the repair and maintenance of synthetics. Following the new instructions for the SCCV Horizon to begin providing aid, they applied to work directly with the SCC as Operations Manager, out of both pride and a desire to see Moghes get the aid it needs. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Operations Manager Possibly a Corp Rep Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking: Seki Tau'ha'nor - Operations Manager Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes Have you linked your BYOND account to the Forums? Yes Extra notes: Please ask any questions!
I'm Commander Giltspire, and this is my favourite event on the Horizon.
  14. Actually, upon further testing, Advanced batteries can not even fit in the PDAs. Perhaps that can be changed, so that advanced batteries can have additional uses, as well as giving upgrade potential for the PDAs.
  15. As many people have mentioned, PDA batteries tend to die quickly. Instead of simply giving all PDAs the advanced batteries, I would like to include several advanced batteries in the library for the Tech Support job to use. To make sure that Science is not ignored, it would only be five batteries, This will have the dual effect of letting some PDAs last longer and also giving Tech Support an extra thing to do related to their actual job.
  16. "My cousin's out fighting hivebots. What do I get? Ship duty."
  17. Artemis is away, let's take control of the Horizon!
  18. BYOND Key: atgiltspire Total Ban Length: Permanent Banning staff member's Key: @ReadThisNamePlz Reason of Ban: Reason for Appeal: I understand that rushing them was wrong, but I did wish to defend myself on some points. Before even being given the opportunity to flee, one of them was screaming to fire a rocket at me, and I had one aimed at me, and I do not believe I was allowed to move without it firing. I do not have access to the specific logs to check, but I think moving would’ve provoked the shot from the rocket launcher, due to the aim intent. I had wanted to leave, originally, but when the rocket was fired at me, I came to the conclusion that if I had turned around and walked away, I would simply have been shot in the back. I was unaware that the antags were under orders not to shoot anyone fleeing, and so I believed I would be killed no matter what my actions were, hence my charge. I will, in the future, make sure I keep out of the way of antags as quickly as possible. Again, I am sorry for my actions, and I hope that I can, in time, make up for my lapse in judgement.

BN-06933 beeps, "We will defeat the Hivebots with you." K2116ODD turns to BN-06933. [Name redacted for privacy] asks, "How do you know all these things?" K2116ODD states, "All of today and yesterday is known."
  20. With the change in Ops for the Elevator/stairs, we need a way to make sure Hangar Techs don't shatter their everything. Can we put some railings around the elevator?
