Xenobiology Map Overhaul + Some Slime Tweaks

Goals:

- Make Xenobiology big enough for 2 people.

- Make Xenobiology safer.

- Add easier ways to kill slimes instead of using fire extinguishers.

- Add air interaction with slimes (n2o makes slimes peaceful, nitrogen kills them, phoron feeds them.)


Includes:

8 cells instead of 6.

Slime batons.

Cardox Grenades for Outbreaks.

Additional Surgery Area.

Disposals system where you push monkeys in instead of dropping them in.

Ability to gas contained xeno lifeforms.


Not Implemented yet:

Atmospherics System

Power

Request Console

Fire Alarms

Cameras

Containment Lockdown

A way to dispose of monkeys

1) Wouldn't making nitrogen kill slimes cause regular air to kill them?

Since it's like 70% nitrogen or something


2) I wish the slimes were grown in pits rather than in cells. It would make it such a cool antag murder method to push people into a slime pit. Plus it would certainly make it easier to kill the slimes - just give the xenobiologists water grenades!


3) I made this forever ago, but it seems like a good opportunity to suggest it again:

All I want for Xenobio is a sprinkler system.

It's so annoying to have to clear out a cell you want to use for different slimes and dying because the slimes which are supposedly your friends just randomly attack.

I don't like the idea of attempting to make Xenobiology 'safer' as a goal. Please stop that. It's ruining the entire novelty of the role.


Let Slimes be dangerous, let Xenobiology be hard. It's one of the saving graces of the entire role and the only reason people leave Slime handling to the professionals!! You can add more powerful bonuses and uses for Slimes to counteract the difficulty, but you LOSE this option if you keep making it easier.


In that regard, I completely oppose a sprinkler system or anything similar. You should have to put yourself in spot of danger and know how to survive it.

Then let's make it more difficult in some other way.

There's "Making things too easy" and "Making sure the place doesn't look like something designed by Vault Tech" as it is now.

#1 tool xenobiologists use is water from fire extinguishers. This is a research station, they should have specialized tools and equipment for this sort of job, such as possibly gassing slimes.

[mention]BurgerBB[/mention] While you are remapping xenobio, why not remap xenobotany? It's criminal that it's so small and less equipped than hydroponics in some ways


Also, some servers have a monkey recycler, where it takes so many monkeys corpses to make a monkey cube.

Yeah there is making things too easy and then there's making things too dumb.


#1 tool xenobiologists use is water from fire extinguishers. This is a research station, they should have specialized tools and equipment for this sort of job, such as possibly gassing slimes.

 

I think it's pretty silly that our fire extinguishers use water in the first place instead of some kind of foaming agent. I agree that something new needs to be added in that's more thematically appropriate.


However, adding things like a 'purge all slimes' button does kind of make things really low excitement. Perhaps make that a one time use function for when they escape their cells into main xenobio, until the 'capsule' that is loaded into the purge module is replaced. That way, it's for emergencies, instead of just 'that's how you kill slimes'

It's already questionable that we can vacuum pack monkeys into water-activated cubes. Do you really want to take the route of having a magical device that compresses the mass of three dead, genetically fucked up monkies into a new cubed monkey that is somehow now alive?


Or you could just order more cubes from cargo instead of trying to make more self sufficiency hacks for yet another department that can already get infinite monkey cubes by harvesting grey slimes. ;p
