Lonecompany's Head of Staff Application

Recommended Posts

BYOND key: Lonecompany

Character names: Alex Craven, Nicholas Wolfe

How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Multiple years, on and off.

Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I want to take on more responsibility IC.

Why did you come to Aurora?: Suggested by a friend, and I enjoy it.

Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each.

Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about:

Roleplaying is creating a story which is only limited by your own imagination. It's about enjoying multiple settings and situations, that you can place a character of your own creation, into.

What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?:

The head of staff manages players within a round, ICly and OOCly. A head of staff is trusted to assist those certain individuals who are new to a position, or new to the game in general.

What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?:

As mentioned above, white listed players, especially those in head of staff positions, are generally looked up to by newer players. It's a Whitelisted players responsibility to assist newer whitelist players, and those who are thinking about applying for your position or others.

Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions.

Character name: Nicholas Wolfe

Character age: 30

Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs):

Born on November 30th, 2429, Nicholas Wolfe was raised on Luna and lived a relatively normal life. His parents instilled hardworking ethics at an early age, however, causing him to work in the mines at fourteen. His father, a former Sol Naval Marine, knew that eventually he'd want to follow in his footsteps, and took many precautions to avoid this, such as separating him from friends who were joining and pushing him into college early after highschool.

This only caused him to wish that he'd left Luna earlier, and secretly enlisted into the Sol Marine Corps at the age of seventeen, with a forged signature of his father. Wolfe would stay in the military until his retirement at the age of twenty four, due to a medical discharge during a VBIED attack on his gate while he served as a Military Police sergeant. Afterwards, he looked towards Nanotrasen's services, and easily integrated into their Internal Security Department. During the six years he worked for Nanotrasen, he has completed a bachelors degree in criminal justice, using the tuition assistance he earned from his service.

What do you like about this character?:

Wolfe is down to earth, and adamant about giving fair treatment to prisoners, often giving warnings if the crime isn't severe.

What do you dislike about this character?:

He may be calm most of the time, but individuals can push him away from his professionalism if tested enough.

What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?:

Wolfe believes himself to be a competent and fair leader. His time in the military and its NCO corps taught him the value and hardships of taking charge over those willing, and not willing to follow.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions.

How would you rate your own roleplaying?:

I started RPing several years ago, since 2007, and i've had lots of experience with it. RPing is pretty much one of my favorite things to do in my freetime, and i'd like to think that all of those years of experience made me at least adequate.

Extra notes:

Wolfe is my first and oldest character, though i've had multiple hiatuses throughout my time in Aurora.

I am biased because I am your friend and I want to see you succeed. I’ve pushed you into applying for quite some time now. I fully support your application but I have some questions.

How do you plan to play your character once you obtain a whitelist? Is Wolfe going to be your stereotypical hardass ex-mil HoS that are a dime a dozen? How will this promotion affect him from a personality standpoint. Is he honored to hold such a position? Nervous?

Do you feel you are competent throughout all of security to the point of being able to play HoS? You are not expected to be a super officer, but knowing how all of the mechanics function is a plus. How experienced are you with forensics for example?

I wish you luck in your application, and look forward to your answers.

1: Wolfe is anticipating his promotion and is preparing himself for the added responsibility. He plans to keep his fair but firm stance on prisoners and staff members, as he's usually been. He wouldn't be honored, as it's just a promotion for himself and nothing more.

2: Forensics is the weakest mechanic for myself in security, but otherwise, I like to believe i'm competent in the other areas.

As a sec main, I get to RP quite a bit with their Wolfe character. Lone has the RP standard to handle a head job. I can see them playing a head position easily. They know the game mechanics. They know what's expected of him. He handles character interaction like a charm. They're not the type of person to abuse this sort of thing.

ICly, Wolfe can handle this promotion. He's a very calm, well prepared person. He's got his moments, but that's what makes the character come to life. Everyone has their off days. Overall, he can run a security department. I've seen him step-up ICly and practically do that anyways during times of need.

I give him 9 out of 10 satin sheets.

Always felt Wolfe was a good character, and now that I've played security a few times, I'm confident in that assessment. ICly, it makes sense for Wolfe to earn this promotion. OOCly, you absolutely possess the RP standards expected of a Head Whitelist. I have no trouble offering my support for this application. +1

Have to -1 because if Wolfe becomes Head of Security then his interactions with O.R.B. will just be even less so how dare you.

Jokes aside, Nicholas Wolfe is an able-bodied officer/warden who steps up to the game when required, is level-headed, and liked by his peers. Echoing Satins and Doxx I concur that it's a logical step for Wolfe to seek the position out given the character that he is. OOCly, Lone exhibits a good and solid grasp of roleplay standards, is familiar with the mechanics, and has not shown any tendency or inclincation to abuse the power of whitelist should it be given.

8/10 duct-taped holobadges on an android. Oh, and a +1 of course.
