Player Complaint -Azazy

Game ID:  b1J-aEF1 (Complaint made about round before)

Player Byond Key: Azazy (Playing "Longshot")

Staff involved: N/A

Reason for complaint: This was the third raider round in a row, so we unanimously decided that we'd do a peaceful visitor round. After some ideas are thrown around, @kyres1suggests we be a shuttle hailing from the Scarab fleet, taking a shortcut to regroup with the primary fleet, and that we are landing to eat/drink/resupply with the intent to have individual stories to drive, for example, myself, "The Hammer", and his partner "The Anvil" being fleeing Guwan from Moghes due to an unapproved relationship. We arrive, and security agrees that we can keep our weapons provided they are kept holstered at all times, and that we store our only "primary" weapon, an e-rifle held by "Longshot", back on our shuttle, we agree. However, despite agreeing to these terms, Longshot now proceeds to leave the area, and wander off on his own, totally unheard until later on in the shift, apart from in reports about him breaking and entering into the science department, asking suspicious questions, and refusing to stow the gun. We now RP with security and crew alike, trading resources and talking, as we prepare for our next jump. Suddenly, an announcement is made over the PA system, that multiple BS Signatures had been detected headed our way. This is when "Longshot" finally talks over comms, saying that he has "called in the fleet", and that they will be with us shortly. We play along, and security is now obviously on edge.

At some point, it's now assumed that "Longshot" has made open hostilities against crew, and security is, obviously, blaming the rest of our shuttle's crew for their actions. About a half hour after the first BSS announcement, a new one is made. It has now been decided, with no prior AOOC talk, discussion, or even mentioning, that the BS Signatures enroute are actually hundreds of highly armed warships, and that the Odin is attempting to engage.

At this point, an inter-galatic war has now broken out, the Scarabs are now openly at war with Tau Ceti, with no escalation other than "security is trying to pick fights" being said over the radio.

They now, while we are trying to defuse the situation, and succeeding, speed past on a space bike, flank security, throw a grenade, and open fire on them. They then flee, and return, throwing an EMP grenade this time, emping all of security and the entire crew of their own shuttle, disabling everyone involved, causing security to shoot the fleeing crew, and nearly killing @kyres1.

This is where I now chase down the man, beating his skull in with my hammer, and leaving him to die out on the rocks as punishment for literally starting an intergalactic war with no reason.

Did you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation? No, this was a round-long issue, and deserved more of a general complaint to the round, not any individual action.

Approximate Date/Time: 13/06/19, roughly 2:00BST-4:30BST

Did Longshot's player agree to the gimmick in AOOC? Did he voice any objection? Did he say anything about this IC?

I assume longshot used the traitor item to fake a CC announcement?

Understandable

Yeah i mean i will see if i can get the player to respond here but this all sounds suuuuuuuuuuuuper lame on the part of longshot. Like, incredibly open and shut lame.

I can add a bit to this.

Phi and Max were hanging about the surface after the station was alerted to a ship heading towards us without docking credentials. They were preparing for the worst and hoping for the best while patrolling the surface, and Phi ended up spotting the raiders enter from the airlock by cargo. This wouldn't have been cause for too much alarm, except the first person she saw was Longshot with a rifle in hand. This pretty heavily outclasses everything her and Max had, so she assumed the rest of the raiders were equally heavily armed and withdrew to the main level. We hear through the AI that the raiders are breaking into cargo, so Phi messages her friend Willow ahead of time to get her to evacuate the main level cargo area while her and Max head over to hopefully try and hold a perimeter while the rest of security gets armed.

Since Willow blocks the elevator, the raiders end up having to take the ladder, and enter the bar. Everyone has no weapons drawn and isn't acting aggressive. Then Longshot flanks Phi and Max from the maintenance tunnels with the energy rifle still in hand, pretty much immediately eroding any good will they might have had towards the other raiders, and refuses to stow it despite repeated demands. He ignores us yelling at him to drop the gun, which almost escalates the situation to an actual fight until the Captain shows up and defuses the situation.

Throughout the shifts we get reports of him doing shady things. According to the crew the rest of the raiders are fine, but Max and Phi are still pretty displeased with the situation since the raiders are armed, unregistered visitors, that they can't verify the identities of. Things get even uglier as apparently the entire Scarab fleet has jumped in and the Odin is moving to intercept. Goodwill has gone completely out the window by this point.

After the crew transfer shuttle is called, we stumble upon a scene by cargo. I can't exactly recall the details, but while things were on edge, I don't think it would have gone as far as it did were it not for what happened next. Longshot flanks Phi, Max, and Nova with a manhack grenade. We return fire and destroy the manhacks, but I don't think we initially attack the other raiders in response. I could be wrong on this front as this was awhile ago and my memory of the round has some holes in it. At some point EMP grenades are thrown by the raiders, of whom I am going to assume were not aware of Nova's prosthetic heart. This is of course, incredibly dangerous for Nova, and she has to be dragged out while we return fire. Phi and Max of course do not know whether or not the raiders were aware of Nova's prosthetic, and take this as pretty much attempted murder.

TL;DR Pretty much every point of escalation and conflict was spurred by Longshot. Coming in armed with a rifle is a bad first impression as is, especially with breaking and entering to follow, but the actual fighting was also started by him.

Captain here.

I can confirm that things were going rather peacefully for the duration I was in round (Despite Max screaming bloody murder over sec comms about "Bogeys" and being outgunned equipment-wise when the raiders were first arriving), and that I had asked the visitors to keep weapons holstered and stow the rifle. I told them that they'd need a security escort for now (with plans to lift it later if they behaved), said they were free to walk around the public areas, and left it in the hands of sec and the interim HoS, since I don't want to micromanage while I have a capable head of staff. Though throughout the conversation, it was Longshot who seemed antsy to leave, and I can confirm that I saw what Nantei said about him emerging from maint with a gun.

Once we make agreements and I offer to cover the visitors' drinks for the duration of the shift, I go to make an update announcement for the crew. In the time it takes me to get to my office from the bar, I've already heard chatter of one of them trespassing (Which, according to Crystal's post, seems to have been Longshot), forcing me to make my announcement a little more of a warning than an update. Still, it goes well for a time. I ask the HoP to fax an update to central, along with a note that the scarab "raiders" are looking to trade, and requesting permission to do so. Security grumbles IC about my decision to let them tour the station, talking about making reports to CCIA, (IC drama, all good), and to their credit they don't escalate or fight with the visitors (And it was funny as hell listening to them trying to organize keeping watch).

Unfortunately, shortly after, I could not bear my migraine any longer, and went to cryo at around the hour mark IIRC. It's sad to hear the round devolved into violence, as the HoS and I worked very hard to try and enable them as much as we could ICly, and it seemed that everyone was enjoying themselves. There was no escalation towards a violent confrontation (especially of this scale) during my time in-round.

Also, i dont want to see this as an excuse. Its one million times easier to handle stuff in round.

I set a notification on the dude. Hopefully he will reply here.
