Will it be produced through an ability or are vampires going to be filled with special VampBlood (Patent Pending) Also, I eagerly await the slew of player complaints about power gaming and ganking that result from a vampire blood grenade bloodslaving an entire group. So my proposal is to move the mechanics a step closer to how they work in the source material, and make thralling not an explicit ability, but something the vampire can Just Do:tm:. So basically, make vampire blood an item which enthralls. Make it initially start off as an addiction, eg. "I want more of whatever I just drank!" and eventually make it result in full enthrallment. That is, if the subject has consumed enough vampire blood. It would add more roleplay prompts to the matter. Would still allow for forceful conversion (inject or force feed them your blood), while making it perhaps a little less cheap than the ability currently is. And perhaps make it a bit more fleshed out. This actually sounds perfect. My issue is it doesn't require any RP currently, and this enforces that in a very flavorful way.

TrickingTrapster Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 I don't exactly have problems with the current way enthralling works as I view it more as getting taken hostage than becoming antag. The whole vampire blood item thing sounds like a nice idea, but I'm afraid it may be a little bit too obvious? Either people will have to be a bit too aggressive with feeding it (like the grenades) or too passive (with food and drink) and make the only super viable vampires the bartender and the cook because they can easily disguise it. Creativity is good, just think it might make it hard to get people to drink it without being super obvious.
Nantei Posted August 3, 2019 Author Posted August 3, 2019 You can also add actual incentives to thralling for the thrall. If we are pulling inspiration, Ghouls in VTM gain some minor powers that encourage them to stay loyal to their master beyond the obvious implications of death. This requires way more work though, and we would need to limit the amount of thralls you could have. But in that sense, you give them the powers temporarily, and they have to keep coming back to their master to get more. So they are dependent on each other in positive ways. Ghoul gets power, Vampire gets a willing pawn. Maybe give them a weaker blood heal and their own blood pool based on what their master gives them. That said, this is pretty unlikely to happen because we would probably need to make new powers unlike with apprentice wizards. I think the simple fix of the blood being addictive will mend this for the most part.
Jessica_Stark Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 Okay... This just gives me the best idea of a Vampire bartender who puts a little of their blood in each drink. I approve.
