ReadThisNamePlz Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 I have been talking with some people- (of whom I will not name) and most if not all agree that Syndicate lore is neglected. There is tons of potential. The Syndicate have almost no presence at all, other than the small wiki page and weak traitor/merc gimmicks. A Lore dev/department for this could change that- Other lore developers could interact with this to create fun and interesting arcs, and it would bring more of a threat to TC. Plus we'd have a lot more articles~ I want to know what you all think about this, and I'd really like the opinions of the actual lore devs here.
geeves Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 My suggestion is this. https://forums.aurorastation.org/forum/44-lore-canonization-applications/

GreenBoi Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 Yes, but a lore-developer position for something so utterly specific would be pointless. If we need anything added to the Syndicate, human loredevs could take the mantle as most of the Syndicate is based around humanspace. There also would not be much lore for a Syndiedev to write. You can only talk so much about the Syndicate when it's meant to be an other-faction you could occasionally care about as an antagonist. Having faction-specific developers stunts creativity, and would be bl- wasteful. Human lore could encapsulate all of the Syndicate.

Event arcs, the various terror-based acts of the organization, the fact that the Syndicate has a hand in every galactic government in the Orion Spur (meaning a lot of cooperation with ALL loredevs. Just to name a few things that a Syndicate developer would have to do. Alternatively, fold the responsibility for this faction underneath the duties of the Loremaster or Deputy Loremaster, since much of the faction's actions would probably rely on lore executive decisions and a lot of planning for arcs.
Nantei Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 (edited) I would suggest Vox way before the Syndicate if we're talking painfully neglected factions that need some representation. Vox are so irrelevant I sometimes forget they exist. Wizard too but every time I've brought it up it's gotten nowhere. Edited December 8, 2019 by Nantei

This is pretty much my thoughts summed into one. The Syndicate involve Humans, Tajarans, IPCs, Unathi.. etc. It wouldn't be just up to the human lore dev.

Counterpoint: the sydicate is supposed to be vague and hammering down exact lore would ruin the mystery behind them

That's the only reason no one at all discusses it or talks about it.
