FreshRefreshments
BYOND Key: FreshRefreshments Character Names: Zekuvazh Guwan, Trazur Zondzikar, Ridley Kingsfort. Species you are applying to play: Skrell What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Yellow Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: I have. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: Complete whitelist dominance. Skrell recently have been getting a spotlight with the Warbling events, and I have been wanting to sit down and actually check Skrell lore out. As I read through lore, I get ideas on why I’d want to play a character, which is what happened here. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Skrell have difficulties showing emotion through Tau Ceti Basic, and by extension to many of the people in Tau Ceti, but they are very emotive when they can actually be understood. Skrell are psionic, but are seperated into groups of Receivers and Listeners, the latter of which are mistrusted. The Federation itself has a very strong hold over its people through social media usage, assisted by the fact that alone the Skrell are the most powerful military in the galaxy. Skrell have long lifespans, which can be even longer through genetic and medical treatments, the former of which is also very, very prevalent in Skrell society. Character Name: Quweshi Vuli’Versuri Please provide a short backstory for this character Born in the Pluat system before its diplomatic relations were reopened, Quweshi had an affinity for machinery, although while he was young his parents steered this towards controlled, manual machines due to worries about how easy this could spill over into Artificial Intelligence. Quweshi grew up approaching schooling for the epitome of controlled machinery- mechs, and exosuits. At first, Quweshi used his knowledge to help build exosuits that assisted with the manual labor in factories. But, as time went on, Quweshi was ambitious for something more, to advance his career through personal improvement. There was only so far he could go on Pluat, but something happened that opened a floodgate of choices- Pluat reopened diplomatic relations with the Federation. Quweshi only spent a bare minimum of time in the Nralakk system, before setting his sights elsewhere. Tau Ceti is a metaphorical melting pot of species, and after giving it thought, Quweshi realized that these other species have different ways of thinking- and furthermore, might have different ways of going about mechanical improvement. How would a Tajaran design a mech against the cold? An Unathi, a mech against Breacher troopers? With this idea leading him, Quweshi has come to Tau Ceti, and for the moment has landed a job where his experiences and toolset can be used. What do you like about this character? Quweshi is driven, he wants to learn (as I do) more about mechatronics. He’s excitable, although this would mostly manifest to other Skrell for obvious reasons. Being from mostly outside the Federation, he isn’t a lapdog, but he still has mostly faith that they know best. After all, how could the strongest federation in the galaxy be wrong? How would you rate your role-playing ability? 9/10. I am not perfect, but I like to think I do the RP nice and good. Small talk is where I kinda fuck up, I have a bit of trouble continuing on when there isnt anything more to say, but Skrell do open up with very probing questions, as they do. Notes: None of NOTE. Carver
He's a very well-rounded RPer who produces generally interesting characters with a fair amount of depth. +1 Link to comment
BRAINOS
Fresh has always respected established lore and guidelines with their characters, while still keeping them...fresh. i've seen them play unathi for a while now, and their ability to keep things immersive for everyone involved while at the same time properly alien and foreign is refreshing. puns aside, i give this a wholehearted +1. i look forward to what Fresh can bring to the Skrell playerbase. Cnaym
Have them seen doing solid RP on multiple rounds now. One of my favourites in cargo, since the character is smarter than to order guns and go hunting ^^ Good RP, stayed in character, does know the lore. No reason to not give them another whitelist. +1 Link to comment
Resilynn
How old is Quweshi? His parents tried to steer him away from his field, but now he's gone far away to follow that field. How has that impacted his relationship with his parents? How long has Quweshi been in Tau Ceti? How are current events impacting Quweshi? Link to comment
FreshRefreshments
Quweshi is in his 70's, so he's akin to young adult for Skrell, and I may have worded it strangely, but at a young age it was alarming how close his interests could have come to an interest in AI, so his parents urged him to follow other methods of mechanically-assisted work. Tools controlled by a user to ease work, rather than tools controlled autonomously. He's only been in Tau Ceti i'll say a year or so. Its all fairly new to him, but he already had his schooling in Pluat, so it was not extensively difficult to find a job in Tau Ceti. Current events leave Quweshi a bit on edge, but he's sure the Federation will be able to sort things out. The key thought process is that, the Federation will sort things out, not that Tau Ceti will resolve its own issues. If the Skrell are getting involved, these problems won't last much longer. In his mind, starting a fight with the Federation is not only foolish on an objective level, but a moral one as well. Link to comment
BoryaTheSlayer
Even though we have not interacted a lot, I observe a bunch and I can say that I would trust you with this whitelist, judging from both your roleplay and the application here. I only want to follow up here on Resi's question, since you did not answer it: Quote His parents tried to steer him away from his field, but now he's gone far away to follow that field. How has that impacted his relationship with his parents? Edited January 5, 2020 by BoryaTheSlayer didn't quote the whole thing Link to comment
FreshRefreshments
Quweshi's parents urged him to take something preferable compared to other, similar systems of machinery. The bridge between an AI controlled mech, which at that point is simply a large IPC and an exosuit is one is controlled by an artificial intelligence, and one is controlled by a pilot. Obviously his parents very vocally preferred he take the first, which is why he specializes in mechatronics, compared to usual robotics (although, learning one often involves learning the other for related skills and reference.) His parents aren't exactly thrilled that Quweshi has reached out to Tau Ceti, considering recent events. They're worried for him, even if he assures them that he has nothing to fear. He has no beef with Jargon, and certainly no plans to speak very openly out about them. Why would he? Its a model nation. Sorry if I have worded it poorly how Quweshi's parents impacted and veered his learning. They encouraged his enthusiasm, but in a certain direction. Link to comment
BoryaTheSlayer
Yeah I just wanted to know what they thought of him going to Tau Ceti. Thanks for clarifying. You still have my support Link to comment
