Snakebittenn Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Whether it's an object or a person, pulling someone should take a grab slot instead of the mythical third Mage Hand everyone has. It's really fucking weird that you can pull someone with both hands full.
GreenBoi Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 As long as it makes pulling cult swords also hit you with the effect.
Seeli Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 It makes sense, because IRL, you can loop arms or put someone on your back, or even hold more than 1 pen in your hand or place a hand on a cat's hand to hold them still without ALL OUT grabbing them. In-game, you cannot. There is more than one way to drag someone/something, but in-game there are 2 hands and a drag. Removing the drag to make it a grab would remove quick exits (pull an item or person out of danger/into that dark maintenance tunnel) and the ability to hold a mob still (that cat shall wander), as well as ANY ability to pull big things like crates (since they don't take grabs) and would have to resort to pushing. I am sorry, I personally wholeheartedly disagree with this suggestion.
Snakebittenn Posted January 30, 2020 Author Posted January 30, 2020 Crates would still be grabbable. We can make mobs stay still when grabbed. You can still pull someone out of danger/into a tunnel.
Doc Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Dragging, particularly while sprinting, is an exceedingly fast way of moving someone out of harm's way at risk of causing severe damage to them in the process; compared to grabbing, where you are considerably slowed by the process but can move them completely safely. It's a trade-off for speed over health. This would completely remove that option. I absolutely do not support this unless both methods of moving people remain implemented, and readily accessible within a few button presses, somehow.
Pratepresidenten Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 I mean, I think an easy way to fix this is just to prevent dragging if you dont have a free hand. It doesnt actually grab grab them, but it takes up a slot in your hand, like... A ghost grab. No free hand, no dragging whatever you're trying to drag.
Aphelion Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Make it so that only Unathi and Vaurca Warrior forms can drag while having two hands in use. I always visualize dragging three people as having like, one person slung over the shoulder.

I always visualize dragging three people as having like, one person slung over the shoulder. Miraculously, these two species also do not have third arms. Unless you count the worthless vestigial limbs certain Vaurcae may have. As for OP, I'd only agree if there was no slowdown. Being able to RP taking someone by the hand or arm and running along with them would be gone RP-wise in lieu of forceful dragging. As well as quickly getting people who aren't critically injured out of a danger zone. Though, for the case I presented of 'Being able to RP taking someone by the hand or arm and running along with them would be gone RP-wise in lieu of forceful dragging' one could simply add a separate consensual hand-holding mechanic distinctly different from the dancing mechanic so people can run with each other in the halls freely like the degenerates they are. No, that's not a joke either.
